Methone's ribs were wrapped, her arms a little bruised. Elzo did his best to heal her up and let her rest, as she couldn't move very much.
But more then the physical pain, it was the guilt that had her not coming out for her patrols. It was the guilt of not trying harder to find Ash's senshi girl, or going into the funhouse at all.
Guilt and the deep sadness at how much Amphi hated her, and her kind. Whatever the negaverse had done to her, was crazy. To turn a senshi from good to straight evil.
But should she be surprised? She had met Ate too, and that chick was just as crazy.
she sent a text to Ash, giving the cat a location and prepared to tell her precious friend about the girl. And she didn't think it would be pretty.

Any message that came from one of her senshi was a delightful thing, but one from Methone was its own brand of special. All her senshi were special to her, of course, but some seemed to mesh closer to her than others. It helped, of course, that this one seemed to come with Prince attached, which was quite a feather in Ash's proverbial cap, if she said so herself.
Still... Methone was a lovely girl all on her own. It warmed her to be called for and she went eagerly to meet her, glad of the distraction from the search for Amphitrite and all the worry and guilt that went along with that. Ash frankly thought she was one of the best Guardians awake these days, but it was hard to hold onto that certainty when faced with a senshi of hers that she still couldn't find after all this time and effort. What was wrong with her, that she couldn't do this? That she had let it happen in the first place? They were uncomfortable questions.
Slipping through the shadows, the silver cat kept out of lighted areas and traffic, preferring to keep herself to herself tonight. If she stretched a little, she could just feel the brush of a senshi aura like warm sunlight on her fur and Ash picked up her pace, bouncing over a bit of trash.
"Methone!" She called as she brushed around the side of a building, her little ears up and forward, whiskers twitching below her visor.

"Ash!" Methone called back, gesturing the soft cat over and bending, regardless of the pain, to pick the little thing up. Then she brought the soft silver furn to her face and burrowed her face in it.
"I'm sorry." She said, muffled at first. "I'm sorry Ash. I haven't been out on patrols, I should've gone more." The girl started to break only to remember she needed to be a little stronger.
Just a little more.
"I have some news, so...will you walk with me?" She set Ash down again.
"What have you heard of that senshi that went missing Ash? Have you heard anything?" To make sure that Methone wasn't mistaken, she asked it carefully and quietly.

The cat chirped happily as she reared up on her haunches, lifting her forepaws so Methone could pick her up. She lay lazily in her arms and purred, adding in cheek rubs as the girl nuzzled into her fur.
"Methone, Darling, are you okay? You seem upset... and injured? If you're injured, I don't expect you to be out patroling..." She said, a little confused and concerned over seeing gentle, easy going Methone upset. Finding herself on her paws again, she gave a little chirp and padded after the girl, her tail lifted and curling over her back.
"I haven't managed anything by way of Amphitrite." She said with a sigh, shaking her head. "I've sent a few groups of people out, and gone out myself, but there hasn't been any news. I don't know what more I can do... Every day that passes, it feels more hopeless, but I am quite stubborn. I won't give up!"
She nodded firmly, her tail giving a flick. "I would do the same for any of my senshi."

"I won't be out for long." She relaxed a little, "I still have a little more time to recover, that's what Cast...Elzo says. He doesn't want me out too much either." She quieted down as she listened to the cat.
The hope was still there, did she have any right to take it away? Did she have any right to tell Ash of something she wasn't even sure of?
"You are the best guardian cat Ash, I want you to know that." Methone looked seriously at Ash, her teal eyes softening only a little. "You are the only one I want to be my guardian cat, because you care so much. And that makes me happy."
She stopped, finding a spot on the roof to be acceptable and made sure she was sitting faced towards the small silver cat.
"I found Amphi."

Ash followed along after Methone with curious attention. There was something in her tone and manner that spoke of seriousness, something on her mind... and it sobered the silver cat.
Head tilted, she watched as the senshi took a seat on the roof and came to sit before her, her haunches tucked under and her tail around her paws. Puffing up, Ash sat up proudly and smiled.
"Aw, Darling! You are too sweet! You are one of my favorites, of course." She chuckled as she bot up and came to give her senshi face rubs. She'd known, of course, that she was a wonderful guardian cat, but it was always flattering to hear someone acknowledge that. It felt good, as any complimenting did. It was also something of a buttress against the doubts she'd been having lately as she struggled with her missing senshi.
Which, it turned out, she might not be missing any more...
"WHAT?" Ash squeaked as she jumped up to put her paws on Methone's knee. "Where? I mean... how was she? Was she okay? How did she escape? She's... she is alive, right? Oh, Methone, darling... I've been looking for her for so long now, please don't keep me in suspense!" She begged, green eyes wide with hope behind her visor.

She would stare into the green little eyes of Ash and realize that truly, that hope there. That hope and happiness of her compliment would be lost. Her words faltered on her tongue.
It was the first time Methone cared enough to shy away, cared enough to hide the feelings and the bad things. She wasn't that kind of girl, and she had to remember that she was loved and loved because she was completely open and honest with her feelings. Good, Bad, painful, joyful.
So she looked into Ash's eyes and she prepared to break her friends heart.
"She was healthy." Methone said carefully, "and Alive. Different. Oh Ash...They corrupted her." She waited to let that sink in. "I found her in the bottom of the streets, stealing energy. I didn't know it was Amphi at first, I've never seen that senshi but...She spoke of us leaving her there. Leaving her at the funhouse. The negaverse used that, turned her into of their puppets." Methone's hands would tighten on the hard stone of the roof, cause she wanted to scoop Ash up, just in case.
But she waited.
"These injuries were for attempting to tell Amphi about you. That you were looking for her. She didn't believe me." Didn't care to hear, brutally beat her. And Methone wouldn't raise a hand to her ever, because Ash cared.
"I tried....to bring her back you Ash..." her voice quieted and she held her breath.

"Corrupted?" Ash sputtered, shocked. That was... it was one of the worst things she could think to have happened and her mind rejected it immediately. Not Amphitrite... not her senshi! And she'd attacked Methone... it just wasn't possible!
"Y-you're mistaken!" She said as she stretched up on her paws, her face full of earnest belief. "That wasn't Amphitrite, it couldn't have been. Amphi was mine, she was the sweetest thing... I can't believe she would hurt you, even corrupted! It... it must have been someone else you saw, someone who only looked similar. Like you said, you've never seen her before, you couldn't be sure..."
Ash fidgeted, kneading her paws against Methone's knee in distress and horrible dread. It couldn't be true... she wanted it so badly to not be true.
"Its okay, Darling, its okay... You tried, you just... got it wrong." She said as she finally crawled into her lap and shoved her head against her senshi, rubbing cheek to cheek. "You were very brave, trying to help me out like that. I'll get to the bottom of this, I promise. I'll find out who that really was, and we can get Castor and go and... beat her up, for hurting you. Or something. You are a very strong and wonderful senshi, Darling. I'm very proud of how hard you tried."

God, how terrible was it to watch the hope completely be erased.
How terrible was it that it was hard for her cat friend to accept it? Would Methone have accepted it if she was told that of Castor? Flora? Probably not.
She was quiet, petting Ash as the cat insisted she was wrong. Maybe Methone was, but her gut said no. How else could she get-
"Sea green hair." Methone whispered, "She uses magic that summoned a shell armor. Her fuku was...." Methone tried to remember, "Ash she wouldn't even let me show the phone to her. She..." She didn't remember any of them.
But the cooing from Ash, who was trying to comfort HER instead of the other way around had the northern lights senshi shuffling the cat closer, burrowing her face in Ash's fur.
"I'm so sorry Ash." Methone heaved, as tears formed, "I'm so sorry, I tried to show her that we looked for her, that we were looking for her. But she hates us. She hated me. She hated you. She didn't want to see anything, do anything." Methone waited, "I wish...I want to be stronger Ash, I do. I want to be stronger for you. Please, is there a way?" Anything, Anything to bring Ash a little bit of happiness, to return what was viciously taken away from the cat.

Soft noises slipped from the cat as she snuggled close, little notes of distress for herself and for Methone. She honestly didn't know what to do with this information, but it was still very hard to accept it. It couldn't have been Amphitrite. Amphi was a good girl, one of her girls. It just... couldn't.
Squirming, Ash hooked a paw over Methone's shoulder and held her as best she could for being a small cat, rumbling out a purr as she rubbed cheek to her skin. It was all she could really do... except for maybe one thing.
"Shh, shh... you are a strong senshi already, stronger than when I found you. You've grown so much, Methone! I'm so very proud of you." She said as she reached out to touch the glowing star inside of her senshi with the part of her that knew how to touch such things, that knew how to tweak them open and feed them the power they needed to blossom and grow. It was only a half conscious thing, more instinct than anything else. Ash trusted those instincts... thus far they had never let her down.
"Take out your pen, Darling. I need you to say 'Methone Moon Power, make-up!" She said firmly, her voice and face confident.

"Stronger but not strong enough." She sobbed gently, "Not strong enough to keep myself safe, not strong enough to patrol without Castor, or even attempting to patrol." Her failure with Cinnabar as well was something, and Castor was always there for her. No matter how bad she was.
She wanted to be more for Ash and him.
"I wish I could do more, So much more." She breathed in and blinked. "My...my pen?"
She pulled it out, sniffing, wiping the tears away and with a strong clear voice.
"Methone...Moon Power, Make up!"

The silver cat smiled as she squirmed out of her senshi's hold and jumped to the ground. She landed lightly despite her heavy heart and turned to watch the light show that accompanied a senshi's transformation.
Her smile widened when the new Methone was revealed, her outfit and aura now reflecting the change in her power level and rank.
"Congratulations!" Ash chirped as she returned, putting her paws again on Methone's knee. "You've leveled up, Darling. Maybe now Castor won't fuss at us so much for you being off on your own, hmm?"
It was a proud, happy moment for the Guardian, seeing one of her own grow... even shadowed as it was by uncertainty and potential tragedy.

Blue's, greens, everything reminiscent of the northern lights circled Methone, and her fuku changed from the plain teal and white too....
"Leveled up?" Methone shook her hips a little at the lighter...SHORTER skirt. Her arms bared beyond the jewelry and gloves now added more. There was a dance of gold dangling pieces on her stomach. She felt more exposed which...in all honesty wasn't really that bad.
But more then that, she felt stronger, lighter. Better.
Her injuries almost seemed to disappear, and she didn't feel so...
But her gaze went to Ash and she scooped the cat up again and she cuddled her close. "I will get to the bottom of it. I won't...You don't have to worry." She exhaled, "Will you come home tonight? I don't want to be alone." And neither should Ash.

The silver cat squirmed as she was lifted up, but settled quickly into the cuddling of her Own. Reaching up, she wrapped her forepaws around Methone's face and rubbed her cheek to cheek. It was a comforting action, leaving behind scent that marked this one as HERS.
"You're a good girl, Darling. I believe in you." She said with warmth before a soft chuckle broke free. "I suppose I can spend the night... As long as you have something sweet to eat and we can watch movies."
What did humans call that... A 'Girl's Night'? It sounded pleasant... and maybe it would help get her mind off things, at least for a little while. The search was not done yet, not by any means. Part of her trusted Methone, but the other part... it needed to see for herself.
