Name: Kdal Stage: Prentice Race: Pureblood Shifter Gender: Female (on male lines if possible)
3 Base Traits: Practical, Pessimistic, Stubborn
Personality: Nothing comes easy and if it does, something else will be twice as hard to master. That is one code that Kdal lives by, the other is that 'The world is both give, and take; make sure you aren't being robbed blind'. But despite all of that Kdal is a very outgoing person who is willing to try almost anything once, if only to say that she did it. Most of her reactions to the things she's tried tally up to 'I told myself it would be this bad'.
It's almost become a catch phrase of hers, one that almost excuses her stubborn nature. Or so she often tells herself.
Description: Pureblood shifter, crystal placement is up to the artist as well as shift phase. Her hair is a little shorter than mid back length and tied loosely at the base of her neck and tighter at the tail end of her hair. She has burn scars on her arms and along one side of her torso.
Clothing: A simple breast band, bright green sash and burnt orange pants with foot and wrist wraps.
Accessories: Satchel bag.
History: Kdal was orphaned at a young age, when fire swept over their temporary home. She didn't know why her parents were away from where she was born, nor did she know where they had been going, but the caravan they'd been traveling with had taken her in, treated her burns, and dropped her off at the first settlement they'd come across. It turned out that the place was a bustling trade hub and while the caravan settled down to resupply, Kdal found herself at odds. The settlement wasn't used to dealing with children on what would seem like a long term basis, and not one that didn't know much of anything except her own name, and the names of her deceased parents.
Kdal didn't know which part of Jauhar she came from, and it was out of the question for someone to go and ask each tribe individually if she belonged to them. The travel time alone made the journey undesirable. But the matter was taken out of their hands when a pair of Wind tribe traders happened to overhear the heated debate. The couple would take her in, as they were incapable of bearing children of their own, and raise her as one of them. It was unusual yes, but the slender men just wanted younglings of their own, and without really thinking about it, Kdal found herself adopted by the strange pale men.
It took some time for her to open up to them, but eventually Kdal came to know Dmin and Tokru as her new Father and Patre. As they traveled, both with the tribe and by themselves, Kdal came to learn a few things. One was that her parents only knew the basics of how to defend themselves, and two, they were very very good at avoiding conflict. As Wind earthlings their hearing wasn't as good as her own, but they were good at reading trail signs and other small things that they tried to teach her. What they lacked the rest of the tribe made up for it.
Kdal learned what it meant to be a nomad, living life on the move. It wasn't much different from what little she remembered of her childhood, only it felt more stable. Safe in ways she couldn't explain. She wanted to keep that feeling of safety and the only path that even remotely made sense to her was that of fighting. Melee fighting, being in the thick of things. A living shield for everything she cared for, regardless of the personal cost to herself.
As she grew older the idea stuck with her, so much so that she'd often sneak away from her chores to watch the tribes warriors as they trained. Her parents teased her whenever they caught her, saying that she was out looking for a potential mate, and that she was a few years too early to be doing so. She confessed that she wanted to join them, to fight like they did. But her developing body made it hard to work with, and the binding bands and clothes they'd given her weren't what she really wanted. She liked them, enjoyed wearing them yes, but they weren't practical enough.
It also made her stand out more, to be dressed so unlike the other women, with her color shifting skin and eyes and her upper half tightly bound. But she was determined and her parents supportive. If this is what their child wanted, their daughter in all but blood, then they would provide for her and help her become as strong as she wanted to be.

Just a couple of things to poke at at first and possibly more questions later. :]
Why a male base? It's not stated outright, but it sounds like in her history that she wears men's clothing? Is she physically masculine?
How does she feel about her parents? What is her relationship with them? Is she openly pessimistic with her parents as well?
Does she have a hard time making friends because of her general attitude?
Does she remember the fire now that she's older? Does she remember her birth parents? How does her burns effect her now that she's older?
Just a little bit of probing to start :]

Kdal is genderfluid, while she relates to both sexes she feels more comfortable as a male most days. Yes she's comfortable in her body (unless she's fighting, then she's just got extra baggage on her upper torso), and has no desire to change or alter it.
Yes! She's very pessimistic with them, often to the point where it feels like one or both parties is trying to talk to a brick wall, especially when her Stubborn trait rears its head. Dmin and Tokru have long since learned that it's better to just let her have her way and save the 'I Told You So's ' for a later time. Their relationship with each other is very much give and take but everything is colored with an absolute love and respect for each member of the family. There's been some misunderstandings, like when Kdal came to them about how she first felt about being genderfluid, and hurt feelings around it, but they grew and learned and just accepted her for who she was. The rest of the tribe eventually accepted her as she was as well, most just chalking it up to her being originally from a different tribe.
Kdal has a few real friends in the tribe, but she mostly spends her free time trying to wheedle some training out of the warriors, or testing her (lackluster) abilities as a tracker. She knows everyone and everyone knows her, but she wouldn't call them all best friends. So yes, she does have a bit of a difficult time making friends, and it's alright with her. She's not much of a social person.
Kdal doesn't know how the fire started, she just remembers that there had been a big fight between her parents and some of the caravan members. Her memories of her parents have faded with time and without anything of theirs to help recall them, she mostly recalls the sounds of their voices. She recalls them the clearest in her nightmares of the fire.
The burns were mostly superficial, just enough to scar and to give her a little pain when the weather was going to be particularly foul. Otherwise they're just marks on her skin to her. What does get her about them, is the vividness of her nightmares when she got them. Getting too close to a flame sometimes triggers the memories and she has a hard time sleeping when it does happen. Small fires like candles and cooking fires doesn't bother her as much as say, a bonfire would. Being trapped within or behind a wall of fire would cause her to flip out and outright panic.
