Hyperborea patrolled the business district of the city. The young page was determined to make a difference. She was a knight, or well a page at least, and knights protected people and stopped bad guys. She walked around alleyways and back streets, searching for Youma or these Negaverse people she had heard about. Hyperborea thought about that, what must a Negaverse person be like, were they monsters like the youma only smart, or were they like black knights. But then again she thought, Hvergelmir took a vow to not fight them so they must not be that bad. If they're just misguided maybe they can be talked into going the forces of good. A scream broke Hyperborea out of her thoughts and the white haired page ran in the direction off the scream. What Hyperborea found when she reached the location of the scream made a chill go down her spine. A brown haired woman in steam punk military-esk uniform stood, clearly about to attack a helpless civilian, but that wasn't what frightened Hyperborea. What frightened her was the aura coming from this woman, Hyperborea may have basically zero experience with sensing auras but even she could tell she was seriously out classed. But still Hyperborea swallowed the lump in her throat "Arrêtez! I don't know what you're doing but leave them alone or else!" Hyperborea shouted hoping she sound much tougher than she actually felt.Lithiasaur ok let me know if I need to change anything. and the title is a wip until I think of something better.

Aurelius Ambrosius Looks good to me! No worries! General Painite was in a strange mood. That was not saying much, as she was always off in some way, but tonight she felt... anxious. Something was not right in her world, but she did not know what. Ever since the battle with Camelot, and all those others, she had been unsettled, though in her mind it had been a victory.
What was going on?
Maybe a bit of hunting would help take her mind off things.
Since she had a lot of trouble finding any powered friends to play with that night, Painite opted to introduce herself to a civilian she found wandering the streets. The reception she got was less than welcoming, but she supposed it was fair. Who really did enjoy being threatened by a spear wielding woman looking to rip their life force out of their chest?
When she felt a little aura and heard an even littler voice yelling at her, she turned and grinned, though not without grabbing a hold of her intended civilian victim by the arm just in case they got any ideas about running.
"Well look at you! Aren't you a brave one. Taking on a General all on your own! So cute, so cute. I like you already. What did you think you were going to do next, then? You have my attention."

You're a knight now Ciel, knight don't run from tough opponents like scaredy cats. Hyperborea told herself. "I'm not afraid of you just because you're some General. I'll have you know I'm a knight of Cosmos! Now if you don't let that person go I'll be forced to fight you." Hyperborea said, her voice quivering. What I wouldn't give to have a sword right not, why'd I have to get this useless bracelet, how the heck am I supposed to fight someone like her with jewelry. Hyperborea forced her breathing to a normal pace and assumed a fighting stance. Alright think girl, this woman might be strong but strong opponents can be beaten right? If I can get a hold of her I should be able to throw her or get her in a choke hold. The spear is the big problem, I have to be faster than her and either dodge it or disarm her. I am smaller than her so maybe.... "Ok last chance, please let them go or else I'll have to fight you. Honestly I'd rather be friends if possible." Hyperborea knew it was a major long shot but maybe she could appeal to this General's better nature, assuming she even had.

Painite watched the little knight with a joyful look in her bright green eyes. She was honestly enjoying the spirit the Page had, if only because it opened the door to crushing that will, piece by piece. It would be such a delight to cut the newbie down, literally and figuratively, and show her just how wrong she was to engage in a battle with an enemy she did not know.
"What person?"
Painite looked surprised when she noticed she was still holding on to her civilian friend. She shook her head, using her spear to point at him.
"Oh, this? No, I don't want to. Where would the fun in that be? You knights are all the same, trying to defend the innocent. But I haven't met one of you, yet, who can actually do it." She tightened her grip on the civilian's arm, snapping his arm like it was a twig. He let out a horrified howl of pain in response, clawing at her hand desperately, without her noticing.
"I don't want to be friends with someone like you I want to see you bleed, and I want to hear you scream. So fight me, little one. Let me see what you can do."

In that moment Hyperborea didn't think about how scared she was or how impossible this fight was, all she thought about was saving this guy. She hated seeing others in pain, and she hated those who caused others pain. She had to beat this person at any cost. So she charged the General. If I can just get a hold of her, she uses a spear so she's probably not very good at hand to hand combat. Hyperborea said to herself as she tried to rush the General. Unfortunately the General was much fast than Hyperborea and her spear moved as if it wear a part of her body striking out at the young page.
It was only a combination of luck and good reflexs that saved Hyperborea from being skewered. She managed to dodge the spear just before it pierced her abdomen, though she didn't escape unscathed. The spear clipped her stomach leaving a gash. Hyperborea collapsed letting out a sharp yelp of pain. Hyperborea had never experienced pain like this before, sure she had had plenty of bruises from judo but this was a new kind of pain. She felt warm thick blood spilling out from her wound. She clutched her side typing to stop the blood from spilling out. She used the wall of a building to get to her feet. She glared at her opponent trying to look tough but her legs were shaking threatening to buckle under the weight of her body.

Painite had to admit, she was impressed this little newbie was so deft with her movements. Obviously she was working hard to be a tough cookie, or she had some previous training before she was awakened as a knight. Either way, she had moves, even though she was just a Page.
Impressive, but not enough to slow or worry Painite. If anything, it just annoyed her more. She hated seeing capable knights, as she knew they would just keep growing into a bigger problem if allowed to. They were like weeds, or mushrooms, or some sort of fungus.
It was her duty to n** this one in the bud.
Moving with the other's attack, Painite managed to use the momentum to her advantage and slice the Page a nice new scar, if she were lucky. Grinning ear to ear, she tilted her head and looked as innocent as she could, while holding a now bloodied spear. She did, at least, let go of the civilian in the process.
"Not quick enough, little one. Very cute try, though. You could have been something good, I think, but you won't get the chance now. You made a bad mistake, and unfortunately for you, it will be your last." Like a classic movie or cartoon villain, Painite still loved her triumphant monologues, though now she saw the irony of them and felt they were a deliberate temptation of fate. And so fate answered, as she felt an Eternal senshi's aura bearing down on them. Sighing, she turned to see the source of it, though her good mood burned away as her eyes narrowed at him.
Chaonis. Camelot's son. Navi's boyfriend. A constant thorn in Painite's side.
"Picking on little kids, huh?" Chaonis growled, his hatred for Painite almost blinding him. All he really wanted to do was charge in there and bash her face in, but he saw that the Page was bleeding. She could be very seriously injured for all he knew, and he had to protect her. It was more important than his need for revenge against the twisted Negaverse General standing a mere few feet away.
"Here to save the day, just like daddy. How lovely. But I don't have time to play with you. Not tonight." She looked at the page, smiling. "Don't worry, I'll find you again, and we'll continue this without interruption. Some senshi are very rude."
With that, she teleported away, leaving a very furious senshi and a bleeding page behind.

Hyperborea allowed herself to slide down to her knees once the General, who's name she never did get, vanished. Her side felt like it was on fire but she was just happy to be alive. "Is it over? Is she gone? What about the guy, is he safe?" She asked the strange looking man who had saved her. The General had called him a Senshi, but Hyperborea didn't remember Urda having wings like this guy. Well maybe older Senshi are different or something. "Merci. You saved me." that was when the realization dawned on her, if this guy hadn't shown up not only would she have probably died but the General would have just killed the civilian anyways. She felt tears of frustration threatening to fall. I was useless, completely useless and stupid. I'd have gotten us both killed. Dang-it think before you act Ciel.

Chaonis looked at the Page and his anger melted away a bit, seeing her on her knees and looking so scared. He could see she had been hurt, and he moved to stoop in front of her, looking her over.
"She's gone. I'm Chaonis. And that was Painite. You should never try and take on someone like that on your own, unless you're particularly bored with being alive and looking for a way out. Generals will be all too happy to provide it to newbies wandering out of their depth."
He shook his head, his voice softer than it usually might have been, if only because she seemed to have already learned her lesson, and did not need someone like him yelling at her.
He'd leave stuff like that to his dad, anyway.
"How bad did she get you? Hey, don't cry. There's no crying in Senshi...ing. You survived, didn't you?" He put his hand on her shoulder, to offer the comfort his words might have been lacking. In his way, he was trying to calm and reassure her, though he had never been good with the touchy feely stuff.

"I'm sorry, I'm just mad at myself for being so useless. I just wanted to help that guy and all I ended up doing was nearly getting myself killed." Hyperborea wiped the tears from her eyes. God he probably thinks I'm just baby, crying over losing a fight. Get it together girl. Her thoughts were interrupted by another sharp pain.
"I...I don't think its fatal. But it really hurts." Hyperborea managed a weak smile.
"My name is Hyperborea page of Cosmos by the way." She said as she got to her feet using his shoulder to balance.

"How long have you been powered up? You're just a page, so can't be that long, right? That General is way outside your rank. Hell, I have trouble fighting her, and I'm an Eternal."
He had seen plenty of upset senshi in his time, though, and was all too familiar with the feeling of uselessness that came from losing a fight. Even when he was busy pretending he was the best person on the planet, he was not immune.
A field medic, though, he was not. She would have to go get that mess cleaned up for herself, as he would only make it worse. There were very few times when he could actually be useful with injuries, and that was only when he felt he had no other choice.
Most of the time he just did not want to risk being blamed for ugly scars.
"You want me to help you get somewhere? The hospital? Home? I'll make sure you're not hassled by anything else on the way, at least. Come on, Hype, let's blow this place and pretend none of this happened. You just gotta blow it off, and come back stronger next time."
He stood up and offered her his hand, watching her expectantly.

"Um about two days now." She said with a slight grin taking the offered hand. Hearing that even this guy who scared away Painite still had trouble from time to time, made her feel a bit better about her own weakness.
"So whats an eternal anyways, I know you're Senshi but does the eternal part mean you're like really special, I mean the last Senshi I meet, Urda, didn't have wings." She asked eyeing Chaonis's short wings with curiosity.
"I guess a hospital would be best." She said and then reality hit her. "You don't think they'll call my parents do you?! Papa will kill me if he finds out." She said with a look of worry.

Aurelius Ambrosius I got like five tags for this. Are you editing your posts a bunch or is gaia just spamming me? Chaonis nodded his head. Two days sounded about right. It was always the first week that seemed like the most dangerous for newbies, at least as far as making deadly mistakes went. Of course, war was always a crap shoot, but at least with experience came the knowledge to make better decisions about who and what to fight, why and when.
"Well. Basically as a senshi gets stronger, they rank up. So when you are ready, and a cat pokes its nose in again, you can power up to Super, and then to Eternal. The Negaverse works the same way, from Lieutenants, which are the same rank as you are now, then Captains, then Generals, like Painite. You can tell the difference by how the auras feel. That weird thing you feel in the back of your head when someone powered comes up."
He shrugged his shoulders. It used to be that he could not be bothered to give lessons like this, but these days he actually cared about senshi survival, and wanted newbies to at least have the basics.
"Yeah, if you go to the hospital they'll probably call your parents. They always do. Jerks that way, with minors and all. One of the problems with being a senshi is trying to keep your identity secret. But that cut looks pretty bad, so you'll probably just have to take the trouble, eh?"

Lithiasaur Oh man sorry, I didn't know it sent you a notice whenever I edited it. Yeah I was just fixing up some writing mistakes I noticed. sweatdrop Hyperborea nodded her head to his explanation of Senshi and Negaverse ranks. She was glad to be told how it all worked, Mimi had explained what knights were like pretty well but she hadn't really explained Senshi and Negas.
She hung her head in defeat. "I guess its all over, if Papa finds out he's probably never gonna let me leave the house. Oh well I guess I don't really have a choice." She said looking down at her wound. Maybe Mama will get the call, I can reason with her at least. She thought with a small glint of hope.
"So I get that Generals are super strong but what if I see them attacking a civilian. I can't just leave them to be hurt or killed by Negaverse people. What if I just trained really hard to become a better fighter, maybe I could close the gap." She said looking up at him hopefully.

Aurelius Ambrosius Sorry for the long wait! Work was murder this week ;-; "Hey, we all have to figure out how to be senshi and balance our personal identities. It's not easy to figure out, I can tell you that much. But don't worry, you'll find a way. That's what being young is all about, isn't it? Sneaking out? You just happen to be sneaking out for a good reason."
When he was younger, after all, he snuck out just for the sake of causing trouble, and not because he was going out to save innocent people or fight monsters.
"Well, I'm sure you have a way of communicating with other people in your faction, right? Like with our cellphones," he produced his cell phone to show her as an example. He had the numbers of plenty of senshi in it, so he could call them if he needed the help. "Call someone stronger to help you, or just patrol with someone else all the time. That way if you do come across trouble, you have some help, right?"
Seemed simple enough to him, but then, he had been doing this for years and learned most of these lessons the hard way himself. So he could hardly blame her for jumping head long into danger, just worrying about the civilians. A lot of Senshi and Knights seemed to be the same in that respect.
"But training will definitely help you, too. And hey, I can always offer to help that, though I'm not an easy trainer."

"Wow you'd really train me, that'd be great! Don't worry I'm a lot tougher than I look." She tried to do a flexing pose but her side reminded her that she wasn't in good shape for showing off. "Um but maybe after I've healed up" She laughed.
"I didn't get a cell phone when I awoke as a page. But I suppose whenever I'm on patrol I can look for powerful and good auras like yours and see if they'll patrol with me." She said with a smile.
Once the hospital was within view she decided to power down. She figured while it was embarrassing to be seen in her pink pajamas it would be worse to explain why she was wearing a glittery short dress to her parents when they came. "Thanks again for saving me and walking me her. I really owe you Chaonis!" She regarded him with a friendly smile.
