Basics
Name, age, DoB : Cornelia "Coco" Conners, age 6 and a half (very important), April 3rd.
Family/Kin : Alexsandra Conners, mother, works as a car mechanic. Shannon Brown, father, goes through several part time jobs but is currently at home looking for something permanent. Her parents never married, but have been together for almost 10 years. Kathrine "Kathy" Brown, grandmother, retired.
Birthplace, ethnicity : Newport, Vermont. White Irish-American.
Current residence : Somewhere north up in Maine.
Body
Appearance :
- The first thing you probably notice about Coco is her absolutely huge hair. It's thick, it's wavy and takes forever to brush through. It doesn't help that it's so long that she can sit on it. Coco also got a dense, straight fringe that stops just below her eyebrows.
- Coco's hair is so pale and blonde, you swear it's almost white. She's frequently mistaken for being an albino because of it.
- Coco's skin is snow pale besides her pale pink cheeks. Not even a mole or freckle in sight. For some reason she can't tan, but easily becomes red when exposed to the sun or cold weather.
- Strangely enough Coco got dark grayish blue eyes. In certain lights they almost appear purple, something her mom likes to play up on the family pictures.
- When Coco isn't stealing her mother's nailpolish to paint them pink and blue, her nails are very pale, the nailbeds almost ghostly. If it wasn't for the white tips one could almost mistake her for not having any.
- The little gal got some nice, round chubby cheeks you can't resist grabbing and pat, with a sweet round face and chin to match.
- Coco's lips aren't just heartshaped, but also very full and perhaps a little too big for her face. This gives her a rather pouty look when she isn't smiling, and she's often playfully teased by her father for always looking serious while playing with her dolls.
- Coco is in fact somewhat tall and thin for her age. She always got a smug look on her face when her classmates start comparing heights, as she's without a doubt the tallest one in class. Almost taller than the secondgraders too! How cool isn't that? At this rate Cornelia can hang out with the teenagers when she turns 10. Heheheheheheeheheheh. <3
- While all her friends have stubby, chubby hands and fingers, Coco's are thin and delicate looking, despite being small. Most likely she'll have claws as an old woman.
- Coco is soooo mature; her mom got her ears pierced. WOW. SUCH CLASS. VERY LADY. Coco actually got a whole collection of earrings, though they're all very simple and all in silver. Her favorite pair got some pink stones of some sort.
- Half of the reason why Alexsandra had a child in the first place was to play dressup, and Coco's wardrobe reflects that. Rather than playing in jeans and some sort of Barbie t-shirt, Coco is always seen in stylish dresses, leather jackets, mini kids heels and professional coordinated outfits fit for a magazine shoot. In reality though, our little girl here would much rather live in her blue PJs, but unfortunately that 'social unacceptable'... whatever that means. Stupid is what it is. SNIFF SNIFF.
- Coco is just at that age when she's starting to lose her milk teeth, so it's not unusual to see a few holes when she smiles a toothy grin.
Health :
- Coco is near sighted, but not enough to warrant glasses just yet.
- Coco regularly runs fevers and a runny nose. It's not uncommon to not see her for days, or catch a sight of her father carrying her inn and out of the pharmacy wrapped up in a blanket.
- Coco's mom suspects that her daughter might be suffering from selective mutism after watching some documentaries and 'analyzing' the little girl's quiet nature and nearly dead social life. Dad says she's just shy and don't have many friends due to being ill so often. This is still up for debate.
Abilities explained
Cornelia sees the world a little bit different than we do. To clear up any misunderstandings that might have occurred : Coco doesn't see ghosts or anything supernatural in nature. She sees people, just like you and me, but how they appear to her is what separates her from everyone.
With very few exceptions (her parents, very young children and the occasional stranger falls into this category), Coco rarely see anyone as how they appear to everyone else. More than often folks have animal features or even objects for heads. Some people even appear to be genderswapped, are complete faceless or might even have some other limbs looking changed and distorted. Why this happens is unknown, but it makes it difficult for our little blonde here to distinguish people from each other unless they're very distinct.
The common denominator though is that the people's appearance seem to be linked to not only their personality, but also their past, intentions and mental state. The more someone is swallowed up by their 'appearance', the more likely they're consumed with a thought, secret or situation. Those who are more at peace might just have something simple like animal ears or paws, or maybe appear fully human during good times.
There are ways Coco can see someone as human. People appear entirely normal to her through pictures, mirrors and on the television. She needs to see someone in person in order to get a read.
Though Coco is still learning how to interpret her sightings, she's quite capable of reading your 'true self' and past with a single glance. She's not really aware of her power's importance just yet, and have no intention of using it for something in the future. She's more focused on making it through first grade and watching cartoons.
As an additional note, Coco has the ability to see through glamour spells and disguises in several AUs, and will view for example a werewolf in human form as a completely turned beast, instead of a bunch of symbolic junk. There might have been times where she has been faced with something supernatural in the canon universe, but assumed she was dealing with an awful human instead, so... uh... first paragraph might not be 100% true. Oops?
Past
- Cornelia Conners was born in Newport, Vermont, two weeks later than the doctor's original term. Her mother still jokes that Coco's lazy and slow nature was already formed in the womb.
- Upon Shannon's nagging and pleading, Coco was baptized two weeks after her birth.
- Cornelia was an early talker, and liked to babble as a baby, but getting her to move around or even lay on her stomach was a proven challenge. From day one Coco was a clever gal. Why would she move if she could get others to carry her where ever she wanted to go?
- Due to fevers and questionable health, Coco didn't leave the house until she was around 4 months old, and our world came to her as a shock. Some people she immediately liked, like their neighbor Miranda who looked like a cat on two legs, and some she couldn't even look at without screaming and crying, like the Thomas the faceless shrink.
- Coco stopped crying her eyes out whenever her family went out when she closed inn on her third birthday. Instead she changed the habit into constant staring, which was almost more uncomfortable.
- For her third birthday Coco was given crayons by her father, and instantly became hooked on drawing. Now she never goes anywhere without a coloring book, pencils and paper.
- Not long after her third birthday, Coco began to realize folks didn't see the world as she did, and became somewhat of a quiet child as a consequence.
- As Coco became 4, she began whispering more and more often. By the time she became 5, it had become a habit. She had also completely stopped talking to the neighborhood kids, though she still participated in play and other activities. Nobody seemed to catch onto the change until it had settled inn fully.
- With grandma Kathy becoming more and more sickly, Coco's family decides to move to Maine to be closer to the old woman, and give their daughter a new and safer environment. The move seemed to do the girl well, as she became less anxious overall in their new apartment.
- Coco's talking problem became better as she entered school and made friends, but she still has trouble speaking to authorities and uses her bestie Harmony Pham, a third grader who lives on the floor above Coco's apartment, to communicate outside of home.
Mind
Personality and general about :
- Unless it's absolutely necessary, Coco doesn't like to move around. She would much prefer if people carried her, and she's not afraid to manipulate and bat her eyelashes to prevent using her legs. She has never had an athletic bone in her body, and somehow she puts walking under that same umbrella.
- Coco loves to talk. She talks excessively in fact and barely breaths in between. So why is she categorized as quiet? Because she only talks to a limited amount of people, and her volume is barely loud enough to hear. There are ways for a stranger to get her to talk, and that's by offering her sweets. Stranger danger goes straight out the window when she's offered ice cream. The topics she gets into varies quite a lot. Mostly she likes to discuss whatever she saw on Animal Planet or Discovery last week. It is possible to coax her into talking about what she sees, but that requires hard work and manipulation. No stranger can do this, let alone her parents. We are gonna need a pro for this.
- Coco absolutely loves to learn new things. A school environment, where you sit quietly among friends, take notes and listen to lectures is the best thing there is for the girl. It prevents her senses from overstimulating, as her sightings can be quite distracting and panic causing at times. She wants to know absolutely everything, which is why she has grown the habit of staring down people, and much worse; listen inn on conversations. Coco is willing to do almost anything to gain new knowledge, and that includes getting into trouble. As a fun note her father has gotten Coco into memory training and games, hoping it will help her out someday when college becomes a topic.
- While seemingly shy and quiet, Coco is far from sensitive and happens to be self absorbed like many other kids her age. She hardly cries nowadays and seems to have an almost extreme threshold for horrible imagery. She hardly flinches when exposed to pictures of animal cruelty and gore. She's well aware that's it wrong and can identify what she's seeing, but it doesn't seem to leave much of an impact. Her monster filled world has desensitized her thoroughly. Audio, however, seems to have an immediate effect that will last for days and result in nightmares. This is why she watches Animal Cops and horror movies on mute, without negative effect later.
- Despite being nearly mute and almost friendless, Coco is a happy go lucky child. She's quite positive, hardly ever grumpy and gets easily excited over even the smallest thing. It doesn't take much to satisfy her. Give her some good food and Netflix, and she's gonna be good and happy for the next week.
- One of Coco's favorite things to do is give out things. Sometimes out of kindness, sometimes to prevent her room from filling up with a bunch of random junk. Usually a combination of the two. She doesn't enjoy cleaning much and giving away is a solution to the problem. If it's yours, she doesn't have to pick it up and put it in the closet. The things she gives out most frequently are drawings. The subject varies. The more graphic pictures are hidden somewhere in her room. Those are kept as 'documentation' like on her favorite detective program, to prevent herself from forgetting certain people.
- Coco's time perception is out of the ordinary. For children, five minutes can be an hour, but for Coco it's the opposite. She often feels that time passes by in an instant. She doesn't appear to have any working internal clock, and if she had her way she could be sleeping for days. Time means very little to the girl, and in her opinion everything can wait until tomorrow.
- By no stretch of the imagination is Coco a creature of habit nor organized. She never does anything in a certain order, nothing has to be done by a certain time and she'll gladly throw her items about for somebody else to pick up. She moans and groans when the vacuum cleaner comes out, and folding clothing is soooo boring.
- Shannon and Alexsandra tried their best to awaken Coco's competitive spirit by teaching her chess, but NOPE. Not a drop of blood in her wants to fight to win. Sure, she'll get excited when you bring out Monopoly, but she doesn't care if she wins. She's inn it for fun.
- Coco might be a horrible spoiled princess. Whatever she wants, she gets, and if you tell her no... she'll get it herself. While she won't go as far as stealing things from the store, she's smart enough to charm her parents' friends into buying her things. Saying a few sweet words when she's rumored to be completely mute really helps. A lot. She'll get resourceful when denied, and she's more than capable of using items around the house to get down the cookie jar at the top of the cupboard. She will stop if you make it a crystal clear no and explain why you say it. Otherwise she'll continue to push her luck till she gets it.
Likes :
- Bright colors. It makes things seem more lively to her.
- PJs, 'cause they're awesome and comfy and cute. <3
- Rabbits. They're very, very cute.
- Pillows. If Coco had her way, she would bring her pillow everywhere.
Dislikes :
- Bird song. She finds it noisy and distracting.
- Music with vocals. This is an odd one; again, it has to do with too much noise. Often modern pop, rock, country and rap is too repetitive for her liking. This is why mom and dad's car is filled with audio books and classical music.
- When mom puts on makeup. ... The change feels unnatural. Icky almost, like she's putting on a mask.
Hobbies :
- Drawing. It's soothing for the nerves and allows Coco to remember the day better, like a wordless diary.
- Is napping an option?
Habits :
- When she becomes overly excited, Coco stutters.
- She smiles and giggles when she's guilty of something, especially when confronted.
- If Coco says she 'loves you' out of the blue or in a store, you can bet your butt she wants something.

Most common meanings of Coco's sighting and other notes
Just like people, Coco's sightings are all very different and individual, but a few common 'symbols', 'types' and 'actions' pop up now and again. Keep in mind that someone's appearance can change in Coco's eyes depending on their mindset and situation, and are not absolutes.
Pet heads - There are the animal heads Coco see most often; cats, dogs, bunnies, mice, horses... basically anything that can be kept as a regular pet. These belong to very normal folks, the animal often matching their personality. Dogs are loyal people, cats tend to prefer being by themselves, a horse works a lot, mice are shy and bunnies are generally very sweet folks. The color of the fur tells something about their age, while patterns and breeds say something about your ethnic background. Eye colors often match to that of the real person.
Generally the more somebody looks like an animal, for example they have both an animal head, fuzzy arms and a tail, means they're absorbed in something. The fur retracts and disappears once they get less occupied or have solved a problem.
Exotic animal heads - There are folks that tend to stand out, or have a strong or extreme personality. Many times Coco have seen teens leave for college as dogs, only to return as giraffe a year later. Generally the more dangerous the animal, the more dangerous the person, which makes the sight of a tiger or wolf worrisome and not at all cool.
Objects for heads - This is an odd sight indeed, and hard to read as well. Usually when somebody has an object for a head, they tend to be simple minded and their life revolves around said object. That is all that matters to them.
Looking exactly as your photograph - This happens so rarely that Coco almost becomes horrified when faced with such people. Coco is given no means to read their intentions and personality, meaning that they can be both trustworthy and great enemies. Either way Coco is too frightened to associate with these folks, her parents being the sole exception. She's thinking these people might see the world as she does, as they often try to strike up a conversation or interact with her in one way or another, but she never actually stays long enough to get any answers.
The Faceless - These people are by far the worst though, as they appear completely faceless to Coco. They can be friendly, they can be mean, but you can't read them at all. It's even worse than dealing with regular looking people. Thankfully, this happens so rarely that Coco never has to worry about them. Still... very uncomfortable.
Monsters - These are fairly rare, and quite horrifying. While animal heads are usually limited to, well, head, monsters are completely consumed by their appearance. These are the worst sort of people you'll ever encounter. Rapists, murders, someone completely rotten to the core, and don't feel guilty for what they've done. They can still act like pleasant people. In fact, that seems to be their trademark. Lulling you inn in a secure blanket, but Coco knows better.
Unnatural or frozen expressions - In the case of unnatural or frozen expressions where the mouth isn't moving or eyes blinking, even when somebody is talking and making friendly gestures, it's to be taken as the silence before the storm. This person is close to snapping in the worst possible way. The man downstairs of Coco's apartment has been stuck like this for quite some time.
Still or stiff head movements - A clear sign somebody is uncomfortable or feeling trapped. If paired with a frozen expression, run.
Twitching head movements - This person is either currently angry, or have just told a lie. Very simple and clean cut.
Dark gas - Sometimes when somebody sighs or is sitting around comfortable, a dark, purple and black gas can be seen slithering out of their mouths and nostrils. What this means is unclear, but Coco has categorized this as negative for now, as people around them also tend to get infected with the gas if they spend time together. Anything contagious like this can't possibly be good.
Liquid trails - It doesn't happen often, but sometimes red or black goop seeps out from people's mouth, leaving behind a dark trail. From what Coco has deduced, these folks have been living with a feeling of heavy depression, stress or dread for a long time. The goop is basically the end result, and simply overflows from time to time. Contrary to the disgusting sight and less than happy description, this is a good thing. It means they're getting it out of their system. Literally. Like throwing up after being fed poison.
Red arms and hands - This is the greatest warning sign out there. This person is someone with blood on their hands. Literally. Gawd, Coco, why can't your sightings be more creative??? The longer up and darker the red coloring is, the more blood and death this person has dealt with. It should note that this only tells that you've killed, but not how or why it was done. Coco has seen some soldiers with these markings, and is decently aware that it doesn't have to mean you're dealing with a serial killer. Still...
Past reading - Okay, so seeing someone as an animal or creature based on their personality and current mood sorta makes sense, but how do you read the past on someone? This is more tricky and highly unpredictable. Coco sees, on occasion, flashes of items, pictures and letters on a person, much like somebody suddenly used an old projector on the subject. Which is why she ends up staring at you for so long. She's busy looking at your highschool diploma and baby pictures to pass the time. Nosy little brat, eh?
