So you wanna be a Magical Creature? Well, here are a few things to know about being a Magical Creature at Ministry of Magic and Wizarding World Guild.

First off, be sure to read the Guild Rules. You need to do so before you can make a character in the guild.

While you’re creating your Magical Creature be sure to read the Foreword on Profile Skeletons and make sure to use the correct form, depending on the type of creature you want to make.

Also, some magical creatures have canon characters you can choose from, as long as no one else is using them already.

Interested in being a student, a professor, or a shop owner as well as a magical creature? Be a More-Than-Average character. For more information, you should read this.

Now that your profile is done, you need to wait for it to be approved, if you wait three days and it has yet to be approved, please contact the Magical Creatures Profiles Manager. You will know if your profile has been looked at depending on the title of the thread. Also be sure to contact Magical Creatures Profiles Manager with any questions you might have.

So there you go! That's the basic info you need to know on making a Magical Creature at Hogwarts!

Contact the Magical Creatures Profiles Manager, Cara MiaKitty. Depending on the creature, she may be able to work with you to alter the existing base skeleton to make your creature. Some less popular creature types do not have a skeleton at present, but that can be changed!

Foreword on Profile Skeletons

All possible magical creatures have been given a profile skeleton. You must use the right skeleton for the creature you're applying for. If you feel that the skeleton is lacking in an aspect and it needs something added or if you feel we should add a creature to the list, contact the Magical Creatures Manager.

For creatures that are not be allowed in the Ministry, they can be brought in as a demo by a wizard. Wizards, why not send a message to the creature's owner and ask them? This is also a commonsense privilege.

We are pretty strict about the way a profile skeleton looks. Try to make it pretty, if you can. It's not required, but it's nice to see smile . Make sure you follow all the instructions in the parenthesis while you're putting your skeleton together and include all the information we ask for (if you want to spruce it up, feel free). Remove the parenthesis and everything in between them when you're done, please.

The crew reserves the right to deny or accept anybody. Please make sure you follow the rules when applying.

Post the profile as your own thread in the Magical Creature Profiles subforum with your character's name as the title. The crew will try very hard to get you accepted within a day or two. If it's been three days and you still haven't been accepted, PM the Magical Creatures Manager the link and they will check it out.

Acromantula Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

The Acromantula are a species of giant spider, native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly Borneo where it inhabits dense jungle. Acromantulas are believed to be a wizard-bred species, designed to guard dwellings or treasure hoards, and were first created before the Ban on Experimental Breeding in 1965. These giant spiders, with a taste for human flesh, were first spotted in 1794.

Acromantulas tend to reside in jungles and heavily forested areas, and their webs are large and dome-shaped.

Boggart Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A shape-shifting creature that takes on the form of the viewer's worst fear. Because of their shape-shifting ability, no one knows what a boggart looks like when it is alone, as it instantly changes when you first see it.

Boggart Rules

+ Found in places that are dark, such as in wardrobes, the gap beneath beds, and the cupboards under sinks and desks. On at least one occasion, a boggart was found hiding in a grandfather clock.
+ Must take form of the person's fear
+ Can be found anywhere
+ Allowed to move from one dark spot to another as long as no one is around/takes notice
+ Not allowed to speak
+ Must be forced to change by the Riddikulus spell (if casted by the person it is facing)
+ After a few hits of the Riddikulus spell, must return to the safety of darkness

Centaur Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A centaur is a magical creature whose head, torso and arms appear to be human and are joined to a horse's body. However, they are their own species, and are not any kind of half-breed. Despite being highly intelligent, centaurs are classified as Beasts by the Ministry of Magic, at their own request, as they were unhappy at having to share Being status with hags and vampires.

Centaur Rules

+ Must try to keep witches and wizards away from the dangers of the Forest
+ Cannot harm other characters without their permission
+ Has own territory
+ Speak to Magical Creatures Manager Cara MiaKitty about forming a herd in any of the given forests
+ Centaurs living in a forest that has been claimed by a herd and are not a member of said herd are considered trespassers
+ Up to two centaur characters may work in the Ministry for the Centaur Liaison Office of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures
+ Centaurs working closely with wizards are likely to be shunned and looked down upon by other centaurs

Dementor Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A Dementor is a Dark creature, considered one of the foulest to inhabit the world. Dementors feed off human happiness, and thus cause depression and despair to anyone near them. They can also consume a person's soul, leaving their victims in a permanent vegetative state, and thus are often referred to as "soul-sucking fiends" and are known to leave a person as an "empty-shell."

After the end of the Second Wizarding War in 1998, the Ministry was reformed, and Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt ensured that they were not used by the government again.

Dementor Rules

+ Must be in a Forest
+ Cannot harm other characters without their permission
+ Are blind
+ Must be repelled by the Patronus spell
+ Can also not distinguish between humans and animals very easily
+ Dementor's Kiss may only be used with permission from the other character and requires a plot request

Ghost Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A ghost is the disembodied spirit of a once living wizard or witch. Many ghosts take up residence within Hogwarts Castle. These fleshless spirits were either afraid of death or have some extraordinarily strong connection to the locations they haunt.

In their paranormal state, ghosts are unable to cause much physical influence. They are visible, and appear as a greyish-silver apparition of their former (living) selves. They may not touch or physically move objects, however in passing through an object, they may impart a sensation of icy coldness. Ghosts are either capable of, or pretend to be capable of, almost being able to taste rotten food.

Ghost Rules

+ Should stay in wizarding areas and avoid muggles and muggle locations
+ Can speak to the living
+ Must specify if it's a poltergeist or ghost; poltergeists are capable of harming characters and ghosts are usually passive
+ Poltergeists must not cause too much physical harm to characters and must always ask before doing so
+ Can float through walls
+ Cannot be destroyed
+ Are unable to move beyond the veil, and are forever trapped in the world of living as intangible beings
+ Ministry of Magic has some control over ghosts

Basic Information

A giant is a very large humanoid which can potentially grow to approximately twenty five feet tall and appear to be a large human. Some may appear as large and hairy humanoids, while others resemble humongous-sized people, and some may even have bestial features (i.e. protuding sharp molars). A powerful and nearly unstoppable race, giants generally aggregate themselves in tribes since their numbers have greatly dwindled in recent centuries. A giant tribe is led by the strongest giant, known as the Gurg.

Giant Rules

Giant Squid Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

The Giant Squid is a huge creature that possibly lives in lakes. It is semi-sentient and apparently not very dangerous due to the fact that the Giant Squid that dwells in Black Lake rescued Dennis Creevey when he fell off his boat during his first year boat trip to Hogwarts Castle for the Sorting ceremony of 1994; and also due to fact that it lets itself get tickled by Lee Jordan and Fred and George Weasley. The Giant Squid is also said to accompany students during their swim in the Black Lake.

A gnome, or garden gnome is a magical creature commonly known to infest the gardens of wizarding households, the correct taxonomical name for which is purportedly Gernumbli gardensi, or sometimes referred to as Gernumblies. Basic Information

Goblins are a highly intelligent race of small hominids with long fingers and feet that coexist with wizards. Their diet consists of meat, roots and fungi. Goblins converse in a language known as Gobbledegook, and are adept metalsmiths notable for their silverwork; they even mint coins for wizarding currency. Due to their skills with money and finances, they control the wizarding economy to a large extent and run Gringotts Wizarding Bank.

Goblins have their own type of magic and can do magic without a wand. They are represented by the Goblin Liaison Office of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures in the Ministry of Magic. Goblins are considered to be inferior by many wizards, who foolishly believe that the goblins are comfortable with that arrangement.

Hippogriff Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A Hippogriff is a magical creature that has the front legs, wings, and head of a giant eagle and the body, hind legs and tail of a horse. It is very similar to another mythical creature, the Griffin, with the horse rear replacing the lion rear. Hippogriffs have cruel, steel-coloured beaks and large, brilliantly orange eyes. The talons on their front legs are half a foot long and appear deadly.

The breeding of fancy Hippogriffs is an established wizarding career, with known breeders including Newton Scamander's mother. Images of said fancy Hippogriffs are sometimes put onto calendars.

Hippogriff Etiquette

When Humans approach Hippogriffs, a proper etiquette must be maintained to avoid danger. Hippogriffs are intensely proud creatures, and an individual must show proper respect by bowing to them, and waiting for them to bow in return before approaching. Eye contact should be maintained at all times, without a single blink. The Hippogriff should be allowed to make the first move as this is polite. If offended, it may attack. Hippogriffs are tameable, but only by experts in their care (such as Rubeus Hagrid, Care of Magical Creatures Professor and Gamekeeper at Hogwarts).

Although proud, Hippogriffs can also be fiercely loyal and protective of those who have earned their trust, as demonstrated by Buckbeak on at least two occasions; when he attacked Severus Snape in defence of Harry Potter during the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and again when he led Hogwarts' Thestrals in attacking Voldemort's giants during the Battle of Hogwarts.

It should be noted that if your character improperly approaches or insults a Hippogriff, they are essentially required by canon to attack your character. By antagonizing the creature, you are granting permission to be attacked. That said, Hippogriff characters are not allowed to seriously injure any character without explicit permission and a plot request.

Hippogriff Rules

+ Must be in a Forest unless they form a companion relationship with a witch or wizard, explained below
+ Are very proud creatures
+ Will react violently when not approached properly or insulted
+ Cannot seriously injure a character without permission and plot request
+ Carnivorous, preferring to eat insects, birds and small mammals
+ Are expected to follow the rules of Hippogriff etiquette, explained above
+ Hippogriffs may take a liking to a witch or wizard and become a companion for said character, and may as such live on their property, accompany them places, and allow them to ride them
+ It should be noted that Hippogriffs are not and should never be considered 'pets.' Referring to a Hippogriff as such within earshot will result in a breaking of the companionship and the Hippogriff will return to the forest
+ You cannot make a Hippogriff character for the express purpose of bonding with your own character

House-Elf Profile Skeleton

Basic Information

A house-elf is a magical creature which is devoted and loyal to the one designated as their master. They serve wizards and witches, and must do everything that their masters command unless they are freed.

A veritable legion of house-elves are enlisted by Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They work the kitchens, preparing feasts for the entire school. They also move trunks and baggage to and from rooms, clean dormitories, and presumably other areas of the castle as well. In 1994, they became angry with Hermione Granger as she made attempts to free them. During the Battle of Hogwarts, the house-elves fought against the Death Eaters with Kreacher leading them. They defended their masters by using kitchen knives to stab at the attackers' ankles.

House-Elf Rules

+ They cook and clean
+ They must work and live in their master(s) home
+ House-elves have an average life-expectancy of 200 years
+ Cannot be ordered to kill themselves
+ Breed infrequently and only with their master's permission
+ Can override wizard enchantments
+ Have an allegiance to their home rather than its inhabitants
+ Must obey their master(s)
+ House Elves are bound to the house and the inhabitants that own said house
+ Whoever owns the house, owns the House-Elf, and has say over who else does and does not have control over said Elf
+However, they can be loyal to those outside of the house
+ Loyalty to opposing parties can cause conflict within the elf, leading to compulsive self-punishment in severe cases
+ Free Elves must register with the Office for House-Elf Relocation
+ They may be employed by and work for magical families, but must be paid
+ Families are welcome to house free elves, or the elves may attempt to find housing
