"I don't let just any ragtag adventurer into my guild, friend! Let's see what sort of moxie you got! In each of the dungeons of our region I've placed a colored bowtie! Be a dear and fetch it for me will you?"
Location: Your Choice
Floors: 4 (That's two pages in size 14 font minimum!)
Rewards: x1 Colored Bow Accessory + Partner Voucher
-only after completing this mission can you roll for your partner Pokemon.

The Toxic Swamp, the place was as awfully inhospitable as the job's description related with poisonous and spiky bushes as well as pools of pure poison that surrounded the area around the lonely Pawniard.Manji stood there at the entrance, the piece of paper describing his mission was stuck at the dagger he had in the place of his hand,he read the paper one last time to be sure that there were only four floors for him to explore before scouting the area around him cautiously,it was way too quiet and he constantly felt like something was watching him from the shadows.Even though he was inside enemy territory Manji didn't flinch, walking deeper inside the swamp as a thick fog concealed the exit behind his back forcing him to advance deeper inside the poisonous trap that the place was.The first floor seemed to be more to cause an impression than actually be a challenge since he didn't find any native pokemon that was willing to fight to defend the territory,The second Floor, though, was going to be a little more challenging.

Once he placed his foot at the second floor it didn't took long for him to encounter his first enemy,a Croagunk jumped out of the poisonous lake nearby and did an airborne attack by spitting a Toxic Bomb right at Manji's face. The ball of poison hitted him and exploded right at his face, covering the small warrior in poison but since he was a Steel type there was no need to worry as the attack had no effect even thought that didn't changed the fact that it was disgusting.Manji wiped the poison out of his face and mumbled "Disgusting nuisance.Get away from my sight.".With that said he used his Leer move to intimidate and lower his opponent's defense and right after doing that he dashed towards the Croagunk, hitting him with a Scratch move which's damage was increased by the Leer and forced the Croagunk out of balance making it stumble back.Without even letting the other pokemon have time enough to attack or retreat, Manji concentrated psychic power at his blade and swung his arm in the air, throwing a Pyscho Cut from a safe distance that exploded in contact right at the Croagunk's face, taking him down. After the fight was over Manji approached his fainted enemy and crouched next to him, examining his body before getting back up with a sigh of disappointment "No bowtie...".

The Pawniard then kept advancing deeper inside the swamp, the trees that could actually survive the poisonous air seemed to somehow block the sunlight from coming inside with their distorted and creepy branches.Manji had that feeling again like something was watching him, inside that swamp his locomotion was limited so Manji kept all his senses sharp for any incoming threat that might try to sneak attack him like the last one.Once he got to a small portion of solid ground,Manji stopped and stood still as if he was expecting the surprise attack that ,out of all places, came from above.Coming down from the high branches like an arrow,a Seviper dived from the sky and swung it's tail over Manji with a brutal Iron Tail move, the brave Pawniard used his blades to parry the attack but even so the sheer force of the impact made him get one of his knees to touch the ground, barely being able to shove his opponent back with his blades.
The female Seviper dragged her body through the swamp swiftly and skillfully in a wicked meander, circling her new acquired prey cautiously as she commented and questioned with a giggle "Oh, what do we have here? I don't usually get visitors that deep inside my swamp...Could you be after something?.Manji took his fight stance quickly and replied on his usual cold and composed tone "What i seek for is none of your business. Now show me the way to the last floor and i'll spare you...",the Pawniard studied his enemy carefully,She crearly had the advantage on the ground since the swamp didn't slow her movements down so the only choice he had was to move higher grounds where the footing wasn't that tricky.

The female Seviper replied defiantly "Spare me? Sounds like we got a cocky little brat here...my favorite kind to take down!",with that said she leaped over Manji, jaws opened wide and fangs ready to sink at his body.Manji kept his cool and remembered all the hellish training he had passed through with his father, compared to that his opponent's attack was a child's play to deal with,he jumped towards the Seviper and evaded the Bite attack, stepping on her head right after and using it as a stepping stone to jump up and land over a brach up above where it was safe, also making his enemy crash against a tree log behind him.The female snake looked up at him and shouted "You come back here! You little-",she clearly hated having her head steeped at and had being made a fool off, which leaded her to climb the tree after her payback without taking in consideration she could be heading towards a trap.Once she had leveled up up with him in height the Seviper did another incredibly long jump from the tree she was at,aiming towards Manji for another powerful Iron Tail just as he had predicted,it is in those times when the enemy is incapable of evading that it's good to have a ranged attack like he had.Manji charged the blade of his arm with psychic power,he then stared the surprised face of his enemy when she finally realized he was just waiting for a golden opportunity like that one to finish the fight with a single powerful attack,a small smirk formed at Manji's lips when he said "Got you now.",after saying that a specially big Psycho Cut was shoot at the Seviper's face, blowing up and tossing her fainted body away like it was a rag doll as the shockwave it created made some nearby branches sway for a brief moment.

Luckily, her body went flying right towards the entrance to the fourth floor which also happened to be her lair.Inside it,Manji found countless stolen items within the loot as well as the fainted female Seviper. There surely were a lot of items around but the one he was looking for was only the bowtie,he found the yellow piece of cloth hanging on a corner like it didn't had much importance.Manji approached the bowtie and took it to himself with a small satisfied grin as he said to himself "Mission accomplished....", heading outside the Seviper's lair, the air seemed to have become less thicker as well as the swamp more brighter, some small rays of light even dared to adventure down through the openings of the branches and illuminate the path that the Small Pawniard took as he walked back towards the exit of the swamp with his prize in hands and a feeling of accomplishment as his first mission seemed to go perfectly, just like he liked it.

[ Hello Hime! (Hope it's okay to call you that!)

Welcome the guild, we hope you enjoy your stay here, but before I can properly grade your mission there are a few things that need to be edited slightly!
Nothing too serious, I'll walk you through it no problem!

While we accept roleplayers of all skill levels we have a set standard for grammar and sentence structure! Your story telling is very good, but your sentences have quite a few misspelled words and punctuation errors!

When I write I usually run my text through SPELL CHECK just to make sure everything is in order!

For your punctuation there is usually a space after commas and end punctuation (Periods and exclamation points!) to make the writing look less clustered together! It also makes it much easier to read for others!

If you have any questions feel free to PM me! 3nodding ]

[Thank you for your corrections! There are still some punctuation issues with the spacing after commas and end punctuation, but everything looks much better! Congrats on your first mission!]

"Welcome back!" The Sylveon guildmaster was perched neatly at the guild entrance, his ribbons folded into wide bows before him until Manji got within range. The brightly colored strands stretched out to pluck the bow from his sharpened hands and examine it, returning it only after verifying it was authentic.
"Congratulations on your first mission! Take the bow and this partner voucher as proof that you are now recognized as a Rank One team of the Guild of Eclipse! Keep up the good work!"
Along with the bow a slip of paper was presented to the Pawniard which would allow him to go and get his partner for his new team.

Cimm felt his annoyance grow with every step he took through the wretched swamp. It was overall an all but lovely shade of color, between neon purple and mucus green. The thick, no doubt toxic mud under the stagnant water stuck in the fur between his toes, sending unholy shivers up his spine. The fumes emmiting from the constantly burping muck stung his sinuses and caused him to sneeze approximately once every thirty seconds. A dull throbbing was begining to form on either side of his head by his temples. The luxio dreaded the moment his headache would blossom into a full-blown migraine.

To add insult to injury, his new partner, Nuna, seemed quite unfazed by her surroundings. Though it was due to the fact that poisions of any variation had no effect on her steely, rock- like form, Cimm liked to believe that it was her ability to remain absolutely oblivious to anything other than glimmering objects that kept her healthy. A harsh scowl formed on his face as he looked over to witness once again the happy, carefree attitude that the aron upheld at all times.

"We're goin' on a treasure hunt~! To find a shiny thing~! We'll make lots of money~! And be oh so happy~!" She sang, skipping through the swamp matter and splashing goop everywhere. Cimm nearly cried out in horror when a bit of grime landed on his nose, and was only able to contain himself because he had sneezed just as it landed, sending it away as quickly as it had come.

"Shut up already!" The feline hissed in an undertone, making his partner turn her head and quiet down. He let out a slight breath. He still wasn't used to having a partner, and he could only foresee a dysfunctional relationship ahead of them. But, since he was stuck with her for now, and this was their first mission together, he may as well try being 'captain', "We have to stay quiet, dipsh*t." Well, so much for that.

Nuna cocked her head to the side, "Why?" Cimm blinked at her. His shocked expression quickly turned into one of exhasperation.

"What do you mean, 'why'?" He was really struggling to keep his volume low at this point, and with his already deep tone, the sentence came out like a menacing growl, "Weren't you listening to what that magnezone told us?"

"Not really." Nuna admitted with what might have been a shrug. It was hard to tell with her armor plating hiding any shoulders she may or may not have, "I just noticed how great it looked when the sunlight glinted off its shell."

Cimm gaped at the dreamy expression on his co-leader's face. He really, really wished he had partnered with a team mate more carefully. He had been so tired from his solo mission that he had neglected to put up a fight when his partner was chosen for him. This is what he deserved, though, and of course things turned out wrong for him all the time anyways. Why would this be any different?

"I would literally strangle you if your neck wasn't made of metal." He stated in deadpan, and that seemed to finally get a frown out of the smiley aron. Before she could think up a reply to his statement, he made sure to go on, "Listen. We're dealing with potentially dangerous criminals. Theives who will probably kill us anyways. There's probably no point in going in here since the poison gases will more than likey kill me within the next few yards, hell, I might kill myself first if I have to listen to your Arceus-awful singing again. My point is, I'd rather die in either of those ways before getting slaughtered by a gang of bandits... On second thought, I'd take the bandits over your singing."

"Wow," Nuna glared hard at her leader. The fowl look was almost a relief to Cimmerian. It reminded him that no one can be totally carefree, and he was glad to be able to make her angry, "Thanks for the peptalk, chief."

"Anytime," He huffed in his usual neutral tone, "Just stay quiet so I can scout ahead for trouble without getting caught."

"You just want to get away from me." Nuna's voice wasn't as harsh as it had been before, but there was resentment obvious in the tone. Cimm smirked at her devilishly.

"You said it, not me." His flashing fangs dissapeared under his lips once more as he turned from his umbrage and crouched, tightening the muscles in his hind legs. He sprang up with a bit of difficulty, the stickiness of the swamp having tried to hold him back. He made it regardless onto the low hanging branch of one of the many strange, tree like structures protruding from the swamp bed. He wasn't sure if they were plants, or some kind of rock formations, but he was glad for them whatever they may be.

He looked ahead and managed to see another tree thing in close proximity, so he leapt to it and scanned for another place to jump onto without getting mucky any more than he was. He found that in the form of a blueish stone, flat against the ground yet somehow not engulfed by grossness. The feline accurately jumped into the middle of the clear space. He had miscalculated, though, how slippery his paws would be when they met with the smooth surface. It was quite painful to say the least when Cimm's right shoulder met the unforgiving rock.

He pushed himself up with a grunt and made sure to use his claws this time. A snort of laughter from behind reminded him that he was not yet out of sight from Nuna. Irritated, the cat refused to look back and trudged on. Fortunately it seemed like a stone path was opened up to him. He followed the blue trail at a quick pace, soon leaving the area that his partner cold see him from.

"I'm probably not even going in the right direction," Cimm muttered just before holding in a tingling sneeze. There really was no way to track anything through this place. He couldn't smell anything other than the horrid swamp, obviously, and there were no tracks anywhere. Which was strange unless the pokemon he was after only used the sticky routes.

It was by chance that he caught the sound of voices, causing his ears to twitch suddenly to the right. The lion pokemon's keen hearing strained for a few long moments in order to assure him that it wasn't his mind playing tricks on him because of the noxious fumes entering his system. Surely enough, the faint, distinct sound of a voice reached his ears once again. He couldn't say for sure that it was the band of thieves they were looking for, but his intuition told him so. He started to turn around to go back and fetch his partner, when the very reasoning behind the action gave him cause to pause.

Why should he go back for Nuna? It only seemed like she'd get in the way and he had been able to take care of himself during his previous mission without her help. Just how many criminals could be in this group anyways? He doubted they'd be as tough as the loony Xatu he'd faced off with before.

Plus, if he could finish this mission without Nuna's 'help', he could claim all the reward for himself. That, and it would give him plenty of leverage to make a case against the aron with Guildmaster Veilmys. Perhaps he could trade in his annoying, incapable partner for a new, not so shiny one! Though a smile didn't grace his features, he inwardly pat himself on the back for coming up with such an ingenious plan, shunning the soft echoing of his reasonableness trying to warn him that nothing good came out of being optimistic.

Determined for the first time since he had accepted this mission, Cimm turned away from Nuna's direction and quietly paced towards the voices. He was fortunate enough to find some of the blue rocks growing off the side of a tree formation, creating a sort of staircase leading to it's high peak. Since he was close enough now to distinguish the voices when he concentrated, Cimm decided to scale the flat rocks. Sure enough, when he neared the end of the makeshift stairs he could spot the rather large group only about a hundred or so yards away. He could tell by the way they were decorated.

He could see two wingull, a magnemite, ghastly, seviper and an arbok, all with black bandanas tied somewhere on their bodies, standing in a half circle. He was a bit confused as to what they were staring at, since they were all looking at the same empty spot rather intently.

Cimmerian crouched low and pressed himself as flat as he could against the cool rock in hopes of concealing his presence. He tilted his disk like ears forwards in order to catch as much sound as possible from the bandits. Though it was a bit of a strain, he could clearly make out the seperate words.

"But what if there'sss a trap ssset at the rendevous?" A voice that he assumed belonged to one of the snakes became clear first.

"Yeah, boss. You sure you can take em' if somethin' bad happens?" A static filled tone came next, obviously belonging to an electric type. There was a rather long pause before it spoke again, "S-sorry boss! I didn't mean it like that!" The magnemite speaking sounded awfully frightened.

"The Boss'll show'em who's boss!" A wingull's squawking was next, followed by a grunt of irritation. Once again, everything went quiet for a few unusually long moments.

"What!? A-are you sssure?" Cimm could see the arbok reacting, whipping around suddenly and looking about as if suddenly frantic. The lion pokemon was glad for his quick reflexes and backed up a little to make absolutely sure he wasn't seen. His heart smacked against his ribs as if trying to free itself desperately as he struggled to pick a more opprotune time to peek back out. It seemed like forever until Cimm eventually crept back to the edge of his hiding spot.

His heart stopped when his eyes met with the empty space where the gang had just been.

"Boo." A voice from behind nearly made him jump out of his skin. He whipped around, for some reason expecting Nuna. He was quite wrong about that. His fur stood on end when he found his eyes travelling upwards to meet the grinning glare of a Haunter. Before Cimm could react, the poisonous purple ghost pokemon grabbed him with both hands and flung him from his lookout.

Cimm would have screamed if he didn't expect the mud and grime he was hurtling towards to get into his mouth. The luxio landed with a splash into the thick swamp, the murky water making a slapping sound as his side broke the surface. Oddly enough, all he coud think about as he surged back towards the surface was how hard it was going to be to get himself clean later.

Several ill meaning laughs greeted the feline as he came above water, gasping for the air that had been knocked out of his lungs. He clawed his way towards what seemed to be a patch of relatively shallow muck in order to get his footing. Unfortunately, he was met there by one of the magnemite.

"Boss don't want us to leave behind any witnesses!" The static filled, metallic voice informed him. Cimm gasped and ducked under the water quickly as he aovoided the pokemon's tackle. He resurfaced again quickly and struggled once more to gain his footing. Unfortunately for him, the wingull of the group decided to take his breif blundering moment to its advantage. It swooped down and smacked him hard with its wings spread out wide.

Cimm grunted with the pain as he tried not to slip and fall over from the force. His yellow gaze locked onto the bird who was circling around to attack him again. His brain went into overdrive as he sought out a way to get out of the situation. Finding none, he charged his fur with electricity and braced himself for the blow. The wingull smacked into him again, but this time didn't fly off as it was caught in his electrifying pulse.

The bird dropped into the water, not done with just yet, but incapacitated for the moment. He was thinking about finishing the winged pokemon off when a horrible, high pitched grating noise bombarded his ears. Crying out in pain, Cimm flattened his ears against his skull and slung around to see what was causing the awful sound.

The screeching stopped, though, when he made eye contact with the magnemite he had partly forgotten about in the heat of the moment. His eyes widened as the steel and electric type's body lit up with sparking energy. The zap he recieved next would have been a lot more painful hadn't Cimm shared the same energy within him. Still, the shock left him with a numbness in his feet that could only be paralysis.

Growling angrily, the lion pokemon lunged towards the steely orb with a bit of clumsiness. Though slower than usual, Cimm managed to tackle the levatating pokemon into the swamp. There he let his electricity loose and shocked the pokemon under paw. The water was quite shallow in the place where he had landed, so he didn't mind reaching down and dealing a final blow with his teeth to the already injured magnemite.

Panting quite a bit, Cimm stood away from his fallen foe and tried to get his fur settled back into position. That was a bit hard to do considering the loathsome mud keeping it in its spiked position like gel would. Still on high alert for the other members, the feline's ears twitched and swiveled in order to pick up any sounds of attack. He was met with cold silence. The rest of the thieves must have figured only two pokemon would be enough to take care of him. Ignoring the fact that they nearly were, Cimm had the gall to feel very underestimated.

"Think you can just write me off as-" The luxio's angry mumbles to himself were cut short as his legs felt as if they had dissappeared. To his misfortune, Cimm found himself face first in a puddle of gooey silt, his sudden bout of paralysis impeding his ability to walk. The feeling soon rushed back to his feet and left him with pins and needles. He stood up quickly and let out a huge sneeze, sending mud back into the swamp. Cimm sputtered and coughed out foul tasting dirt that made him gag. If he wasn't angry before, he was furious now.

Cimm stood still for a moment, dripping wet and covered in horrid, unspeakable things. His yellow gaze was dulled over as he heaved for the fresh air missing from the environment. Behind his distant expression, though, his mind was a whirrling fenzy of rage and frustration, conjouring up such vile thoughts even the most evil of masterminds would shudder at.

Coming up with some sort of an idea, the cat jolted back into the present, snapping his neck towards the injured wingull still floating in the water a few yards off. Determined to avenge his dignity, Cimm splashed over to the pokemon. The bird helplessly stared at him, obviously frightened by the mad glint in his glare.

"Where is it?" He growled softly, watching the wingull flinch at his malicious tone. The bird shivered as it shook its head, "Where is the artifact!?" He roared finally, all mindfulness of stealth thrown out the window.

"I- I'm not telling you!" The feathered fiend stuttered bravely. However amicable that may be, Cimm had no patientce for stalling.

"I know your kind like to hide the treasures you come across," Cimm darkly grumbled, raising his paw out of the water and placing it threateningly on the bird's bell, "So I know you know where the thing you stole is. Now I suggest you tell me, or we can see if that water type half of yours can keep you from drowning."

The wingull opened its mouth to speak, but Cimm decided to force the smaller pokemon under the water anyways. Bubbles erupted from the avian creature and rising to burst at the surface. The actions made more grime flick onto his face, but Cimm really didn't care anymore at this point. The feline only allowed the bird back up once the air bubbles began to grow smaller in number.

Sputtering and gasping, the theif made his desperate and quick reply, "I-I don't have it! B-boss wouldn't l-let me! She has it!"

"Where are they?" He demanded, extending his claws and pushing down slightly to scare the bird a little more. The wingull squawked and tried in vain to flap its wings around. It only just hit Cimm that the pokemon must be paralyzed from his attack earlier.

"Th-they went to the rendevous! That way!" Cimm followed the bird's beady gaze northwards before smacking the wingull away and heading in that direction.

Cimm's rage was what fuelled his quick pace. He soon found another stone path to travel, though on occasion he'd have to break off into the water in order to continue forwards in the right direction. During his trek to find the criminals, he vacantly found himself doubting his decision to preform alone. Could he really take six other pokemon? The snakes and haunter worried him the most. They would be the hardest to take down.

He shook his head, forcing the thoughts out. What was done was done. It's not like he was anywhere near Nuna anymore anyways. Besides, he had been alone up until recently and had done just fine on his own. He could figure something out.

Trying to do as such, Cimm considered scouting from high ground again. Unfortunately the enemy would probably see that coming since it may have been a one time only sort of deal. So instead he stuck to the swamp, in the most literal sense as well, and hid around the base of the looming structures whenever he thought he heard something. Just when he had begun to think he had been given false information from the wingull, he rounded into a raised open area and was met with the traveling backs of his pursuit.

He made sure to quickly yet deliberately sink into the swamp, leaving out only the upper half of his face and flattening his ears against his skull. Five of the crew were ahead of him, waiting patiently with their backs to him. The haunter was nowhere in sight, but Cimm was beginning to wonder if that was a trick of the eye. The area surrounding them was almost completely composed of dry mud, with the exception of the occasional mud pool. The thieves seemed pretty nonchalant at this point. He had to draw them out separately somehow, knowing that he wouldn't last against all of them.

Slinking backwards as carefully as possible, Cimm hid out of sight and quickly conjured up something he wasn't sure would work. He went off a few paces, rising from the mud but still keeping well out of any foe's line of vision. After he found a good, deep spot in the swamp, he began brewing up energy in his system. After he was done charging the feline took a deep breath through the fumes and released a mighty roar.

He closed his eyes after the deafening sound and ducked under the water. He could only pray to Arceus that his commotion would draw only a few of the gang to him. That being thought, he counted to twenty in his mind while holding his breath. At twenty, he forced himself to rise slowly from the murky depths and open his eyes without wiping them, allowing putrid water to seep down into the sensitive organs. As painful as it was, it had ended up being worth it.
The leftover magnemite and small ghastly were circling around the vicinity, oblivious to the luxio who was camouflaged into his surroundings with all the nature grasping his fur. Cimm waited semi-patiently for one of the pokemon to near his location. That pokemon ended up being the floating purple orb first. He thought about thanking whatever pokemon of legend that his legs were still cooperating at the time, but he wasn't one to be grateful.

Already supercharged, Cimm leaped from his hidden position and tackled the ghoulish pokemon. The ghastly had been so startled that it hadn't even made itself intangible to escape the attack. It yelled out in pain, but Cimm was not about to give any sort of mercy. In immediate succession, the luxio felt his fangs ice over as he reached down to finish the ghost off.

His teeth never made contact, because of the fact that the ghastly had wizened up and went into its untouchable, ethereal form. That, and because the magnemite he hadn't paid any mind to slammed into his side suddenly.

“Son of a-” Cimm wasn't any less furious than when he had started, so that he had managed to ignore the one eyed ball of steel to his own detriment just added fuel to the flames. Unfortunately he couldn't release this frustration as his legs suddenly gave out from under him when he tried to recover from the attack.

“All hiss an' no bite!” The magnemite chortled quite accurately. Cimm vacantly wondered how the evil thing could even speak without a mouth, and was even more confused on that point when the pokemon let out a supersonic screech while he was immobilized.

Though he had experienced many battles before, for some reason he had never been attacked with a blow that caused him confusion. It was almost a surreal experience as he watched everything in view jumble together. Or, at least he thought they did. Maybe he was just imagining that? Oh, he just got hit with something. Electricity maybe?

The immobile, muddled lion could only voice his pain as he was attacked. He managed to make out the form of the attacker and braced himself for the final blow that the magnemite was readying.

“Oh! Your so shiny!” A cry of delight was somehow the only thing Cimm managed to clearly make out of his bungled surroundings. Indignation and embarrassment were the first emotions to hit the luxio and were followed by begrudging relief. So much for his plan.

The magnemite was covered in a thick coat of purplish mud as Nuna skid into view, stifling the enemy's attack. Cimm blinked as his head began to clear and scowled at his team member's look of haughtiness.

“Don't look at me like that!” He spat, still sitting paralyzed in the muck. It flustered him further when he noted Nuna's near perfect condition. She huffed and smirked.

“And to think, I just saved your butt!” She mentioned, turning her attention to the captain. It was a very unwise move and if Cimm hadn't warned her of the rapidly approaching ghost at her back. The aron was surprisingly quick to evade the disgusting tongue protruding from the ghastly's mouth. Nuna turned on her heel and jumped at the ghost in an attempt to tackle it. Of course she merely phased through the ghost and left it completely unharmed. The aron looked befuddled and Cimm was left gaping at her.

“Did you seriously just do that!?” He felt annoyance creeping up on him again. Nuna dodged another attack from the ghost while giving her partner a confused sideways glance, “Attacks like that don't work on ghosts, idiot! You have to use the elements!” He yelled out, cringing for his partner as his distracting voice kept her from evading a wild tackle from the magnemite that had recovered, “Don't you know anything about battling?”

“N-not really,” Nuna admitted as she kept her ground against the attack and swerved around to smash against the electric foe with her skull, finally knocking it out for the round, “This isn't my first time, but I don't get into fights very often.”

Cimm shook his head and desperately wished he could feel his all of his legs again. So far only the front right leg was cooperating with him. He took a deep breath ad tried to gather himself, “That ghastly will be weak to the first attack you used on the magnemite, just use that!”

Nuna nodded and swung her shiny head around in search of the spirit who had vanished. Cimm pushed his hearing to its limits as he too sought out the shadowy pokemon. What caught his ears was the slightest shift in the air that could easily have been mistaken for a quiet sigh.

“To your left, now!” Cimm ordered, watching as the aron listened to his command immediately and slapped the mud on the ground. A wave of muck shot through the air and revealing the form of a sphere formerly unseen, “Don't wait, attack it!” The lion impatiently called out. Nuna hesitated only a moment before lunging forwards and landing a blow with her paw to the spirit. A grunt of pain escaped the ghastly as it fell and dissipated.

“Yeah, sucker! Take that!” Nuna rejoiced at her win. Cimm was quick to hush her as he struggled to stand now that a tingling feeling had returned to his limbs. He wasn't sure they were quite ready to face off the rest of the opponents, but as per usual, things never happened the way he wanted them to.

“Oh, counting our torchics before they hatch, are we?” A slimy sort of voice filled with amusement caught the team's attention. Cimm looked to his right and felt himself pale under his fur. The haunter floated in between the two snakes as it looked down on them. It was then Cimm noticed the pouch dangling somehow from the ethereal being.

“Look,” The luxio licked his lips in apprehension as he tried to think of a way out of the situation, “We just want to take back what you stole. We'll let you off the hook if you give it to us without a fight.”

“Ha! You hear that Bossss?” The arbok hissed with a sharp laugh, tongue flickering in and out while expanding its already menacing looking hood, “They want to make a deal.”

“Quite the brave move, considering the self-righteousness of the guild you're no doubt from.” Cimm had to roll his eyes at the haunter. This wasn't his first time being told such a thing, “Brave, yet naive.”

“Had to give it a try,” He quipped back, legs shaking as if he was experiencing an earthquake as if to prove his point.

“I suppose so, given your pitiful condition,” The soul sneered, making an angered scowl appear on Cimm's features once more. The ghost waved one of its dismembered hands in the air, “You two take care of this, I have to attend to our business.”

“Will do, Bossss.” The arbok acquiesced as it and its near silent seviper companion turned to the Treasure Hunters. Cimm cursed himself for his slowed speed as he tried in vain to escape the first blow given by the seviper. The pokemon as it reached out with its unforgiving fangs and nipped his tail. Luckily Nuna was on top of things for once and bashed the serpent off of him.

Holding his tongue in order not to whimper from the shooting pain in his delicate tail, Cimm turned to once again give instruction to his partner, “Use your ground attack again!” Nuna nodded and splashed mud into the enemy's face, making it recoil with a hiss.

Cimm had learned his lesson in negligence, and had not forgotten about the arbok. His eyes snapped to attention as the long being struck out at him from behind. Cimm managed to avoid the blow and reach up with his fangs to bite into the scaly flesh of the snake. The thief howled in pain, rising up in an attempt to free itself from the sharp teeth. Cimm hung on though, icing over his fangs and dealing an cold blow to the pokemon. He only let go when the serpent slammed him into the bog, nearly crushing him under the massive weight of the heavier pokemon.

Cimm's breath was knocked from his lungs as he tried to stand back up, but the tail end of the snake quickly coiled around him, squeezing him so hard that he thought he heard a bone crack. Knowing that wasn't true due to the fact that he was indescribably flexible Cimm ignored the pain and opened his mouth wide again, a frozen breath laboriously leaving him as he chomped back down on the criminal. When the arbok was quick to toss him, Cimm realized that the snake was the type to shy away from pain.

The lion landed in a deeper puddle and could feel his already soaked fur dragging him down. Coupled with the pain and exhaustion he nearly let it. But, as he had realized many times in the past, he was slightly afraid of death. The cat struggled to the surface, inhaling deeply once he had gotten above water and looking around wildly for his opponent while panting.

The arbok had switched targets after dealing what it may have thought to be a finishing blow. Both of the serpents were on either side of Nuna, both looking battered next to the nearly unscathed aron. She was still as shiny as ever, the only sign that she had been in a battle at all being the harsh breaths coming from her. The seviper she had been wrangling was even worse off, bleeding and covered in goop while its split tongue hung out of its gaping mouth. Maybe Nuna had broken its jaw?

Cimm's eyes darted over to the arbok again, this time noticing something advantageous. The serpent's body was nearly completely covered in frost and ice. His icy attacks must be freezing the cold blooded reptilian pokemon. To add to his luck, the arbok was completely focused on the steely rock type, striking out with venom filled fangs that had little to no effect on the sturdy little body.

Cimm took the distraction as an advantage, slowly creeping out of the water with his aching legs. Once he was on at least partly solid ground he took a moment to assess his condition. His legs were still tingling and threatening to leave him in a paralyzed heap at any moment, his head was throbbing like the dickens, and the disgusting feeling that was coming back to him was a bit overwhelming. In one word his existence at the moment could be described as 'painful'. Three words would be 'painful and enraged'. This was the second time today he had been underestimated, cast off as a goner. It was getting old, fast.

Stifling the deep, primal growl that wanted to escape him, Cimm silently tread towards his enemies. The arbok was his first target. The luxio felt purely feral instinct gnaw at him to go for the throat, but that would mean compromising his position sooner than he wanted. So instead he came directly from behind and crouched with his rump in the air. His lips drew back to reveal wicked fangs that gleamed with ice and ill intention. The cat took aim for the upper back of the snake and leaped with his claws extended, ignoring every protesting fiber of his aching form as he executed the action.

The arbok was taken by complete surprise, rearing back and bucking wildly as Cimm's fangs sunk deep into the flesh on either side of its spine and dug his claws into its sides for leverage. Crackles emitted from the ice rapidly forming on the skin that was reluctant to take it in. The arbok's movements slowed considerably as it attempted without success to free itself of its malignant parasite, but eventually it succumbed to the cold and came to a complete halt while stretching towards the sky.
Mission accomplished, Cimm sprung away from the frozen creature before it fell into the swamp. He didn't bother to check and see if it was still alive or not because either way, it was done for this battle.

“You fiend!” The severely injured seviper that had been silent up until that point screeched, abandoning its fight with Nuna to come after him. The snake's unhinged jaw seemed even more frightening that it should have been with its broken jaw. And at that very moment Cimm's legs gave out from under him.

“I. Hate. Everything!” Cimm heftily roared out suddenly after he was done collapsing. Little did he know his cry had moved his partner to immediate action. The little aron sprung forward and bashed its skull into the snake to veer it off course. The snake hit the swamp like its brethren, knocked out for the count after having been dealt one too many blows.

Nuna's breathing was rapid from exertion as Cimm watched her turn to him. He glared at her from his fixed position in the mud. She stared back with her piercing blue gaze, an unreadable expression across her steel features. Her poker face vanished in an instant as a wide, mischievous grin overtook her.

“You look awful.” She laughed, making Cimm grunt and huff. He was out of juice and out of patience. For all he cared, they could forget the mission and just hike back to the Guild without ever mentioning this horrible occasion again. But Nuna was here there to ostracize him if he gave up, and it would mean a lot of paperwork for him if he abandoned the mission.

“Just help me up so we can go get this stupid artifact and get our money.” He growled, wishing he didn't have to rely on Nuna for something as simple as standing. Instead of aiding him, however, his partner just stood there for a few more moment with her continuous grin. He had to glower at her, “What?”

“You sure took that arbok out,” she mentioned, eyes flitting briefly in the direction of the frozen pokemon. She seemed to mull something over in her mind before speaking next, “Are you sure you weren't meant to be a mercenary?”

Cimm's eyes narrowed dangerously at this comment. The growl he had held back so well before now thundered in his chest, “Don't compare them to me,” he warned, “They would kill because they have to, I only do it for money.” For himself. He really didn't want to continue this conversation, “Look, I hardly know you. Just get me up so we can make a plan to take that haunter down.”

“Whatever,” Nuna scoffed in an amused manner, obviously not phased by the deep seated fury in her captain. She hustled over and gingerly used her front legs to roll Cimm into an awkward sort of standing position. It took the luxio a few minutes to get the feeling back in his legs. When he did he led his co-captain out of the area and back to the open space he had seen before.

They hid behind a rock and peeked over its jagged blue edge, spotting the fully visible ghost in full view. As Cimm sunk back behind their hiding place he wondered if the pokemon had made itself visible so that it could be found by the others it was waiting for. Turning to Nuna, the feline held up a paw that signaled silence. The aron surprisingly caught on and kept quiet, following Cimm back a ways and hopefully out of earshot.

“Okay. Here's the plan,” He started at a whisper, “You go straight in and challenge it. I'll sneak around from behind and nab the goods. Be very, very, very careful not to harm the package. If all goes well, hopefully we can both escape without having to get our butts handed to us.”

Nuna did not seem pleased with this plan, “I can take that spiky purple thing!” Cimm desperately motioned for her to lower her voice. The loud mouth begrudgingly did so as she continued in an intone, “I'm not running away!”

“Fine! Do what you want. But as soon as I get the satchel, I'm out.” He was worn out and not in the mood to argue. If he couldn't get a new partner by proving Nuna useless, maybe he could get a new one if she were dead. Unaware of his grim thoughts, the aron heartily nodded her head in agreement.

They both crawled back to their hidden location and waited for an opportune time to act. It was hard to read an apparition's body language, but a slight letting out of breath made Cimm aware of both the haunter's impatience and low guard. He looked sharply to Nuna and nodded one short bobble. The steel type was off in a flash, practically galloping across the dried ground towards the foe. Sensing her presence, the spirit whipped around. It was just a tad too slow to evade the powerful spray of dirt and grime aimed at it. The ghoul sputtered and spat while rubbing its eyes.

Cimm took the haunter's momentary blindness to run out from his position and circle around the large area. He willed his feet to cooperate for the remainder of the mission as he briskly yet silently traveled a wide berth around the pokemon he was after. By the time it had recovered from the attack, Nuna had managed to deal a couple more wounding blows to it, and Cimm was directly behind the unsuspecting fellow.

All he had to do now was wait for the thief gang's leader to be completely distracted so that he would not sense it when he made his move. He watched while massaging his paws for circulation as Nuna continued valiantly against the oddly strong second stage pokemon. It obviously knew that poison would not work against her, as it hadn't tried to use any moves of that kind thus far. It was also very quick witted and more often than not evaded the aron's very readable attacks.

Cimm found himself gnashing his chompers in order to keep himself from calling out orders to the frustratingly inexperienced battler. After one particular lick to the face, Nuna seemed to be getting frustrated. She paused in her attacking to scratch the ground as if she were a tarous. Huffing through her nose, the stubborn aron charged with her head bowed. Cimm literally slapped himself in the face when the leaping headbutt phased through the ghost. Like he had told her it would.

But the situation turned out advantageous, because after Nuna landed in a sticky puddle of mud that just happened to be right behind the haunter, the target started laughing uncontrollably.

“You fool!” It cackled with one hand pointing at the stunned, mud covered aron sitting very still. Cimm didn't waste a moment. He raced out as fast as he could towards the treasure he was commissioned to obtain. The ghost didn't see him coming, and the feline managed to grab the leather pouch gingerly between his teeth before ripping it from the thief who had taken it.

The enemy noticed something was amiss as soon as the bag went from its side. It slowly turned to Cimm, who's back right foot was completely unresponsive. He cursed his luck for the umpteenth time as he faced the opponent. He was really hoping Nuna would step in at this point, but the girl was still sitting frozen as a statue in the puddle, staring back at her plating.

“Too bad I'm not into deals,” The haunter teased, “Give me the item.” It demanded in a much more serious tone. Mouth full, Cimm merely shook his head gently as not to damage whatever delicate item he held. The haunter crossed its arms disapprovingly, “Now, boy. Consider the position you've put me in. I'm going to be downright embarrassed when my employer gets here and sees the mess I've made of things. Just think of what it'd mean for me if he showed up and I had nothing to give him. It'd mean bad things, kid.”

“And just look at you! You can hardly stand. Heck, you look like a newborn deerling on those wobbly limbs! You're not even a challenge for me, and I'm just glad I get to put you out of your misery,” The sneering voice rattled on long enough for Cimm to almost be glad to die at this point, “But sadly, I won't be able to enjoy your suffering. I don't want you to put up a struggle and damage my goods, now. So how's about you be a good boy and go to sleep. Promise I'll kill you then.”

Cimm was confused as to what nonsense this vile criminal was spewing. He was soon answered as he looked up and became immediately captivated by its glowing red eyes. His whole body began to tremble with overwhelming exhaustion, and sleep alarmingly pulled at him, begging to be given into. He couldn't even think properly by the time he felt his head drooping, and distantly wondered if the haunter would actually kill him.

He may have fallen to the clutches of eternal rest if it hadn't been for the wildly impassioned scream of rage that ripped from Nuna. The amount of sheer hostility oozing from every fiber of the tensed tiny being of the aron was enough to startle the haunter mid hypnosis and cause it to whip around. Cimm instantly felt awake and looked up just in time to see his partner land a powerful blow to the foe. The attack was so strong that the haunter yelped in terror as it was smashed back, unable to avoid it.

The ghoul landed hard on the ground several feet away, cracking the discolored earth underneath it. Almost immediately it picked itself up and vanished, no doubt a cowardly attempt to escape the situation. The Treasure Hunters let this attempt succeed, too exhausted and apparently angry to stop it from escaping anyways. Cimm's eyes fell on the usually upbeat pokemon, wondering what in the world could have made her so angry, and what kind of attack she had used that was probably powerful enough to finish him off in a couple blows. He didn't have to ask, and wouldn't have asked with his mouth full, for Nuna soon answered.

“I-it got me dirty...” She huffed, shaking with the tension still coursing through her. Cimm stared at her incredulously for the second time that day, taking mental note not to make her mad. With great deliberation, the feline settled the pouch on the ground and neared the aron. He really was not fond of the thought that he'd have to deal with a volatile aron all the way back to the guild. So as he settled down in front of his younger partner, he lifted a paw that wasn't numb and placed it on Nuna's forehead.

Cimm wondered if she was too tired to react, or just didn't care as he rubbed away at her skull. He noogied the filthy pokemon until he had pushed away a large portion of the mud so that he could see the shiny steel plating underneath.

“There,” He huffed impatiently, stepping back and looking down at Nuna, who now was giving him a quizzical expression, “Your shiny again. Sort of, you'll still have to bathe when we get back to get off the mud. But for now, everyone can see how perfectly shiny you are underneath.”

Nuna blinked at him blankly, not saying anything. It made Cimm terribly uncomfortable and he found himself looking away awkwardly from the stare. He wasn't paying attention enough to expect the firm headbutt to the side. Looking down in irritation, he was met with a wide, sincere smile from his partner.

“Wh-whatever!” Cimm exclaimed as he turned right around, picking up on the message of thanks. He limped back over to where he had left his package, not looking at Nuna as he continued on briefly, “Let's just go before any more trouble gets here!”

Nuna hummed her agreement as Cimm reached down and picked up his delicate packed between his fangs. She followed him as they made their slow, pained, and silent journey out of the swamp to meet with their commissioner.

When the pair returned, they would find a Magnemite waiting for them. Apparently, as it quickly explained in a monotone voice, it was an envoy of the Magnezone who had requested the mission. It bore some paperwork confirming the fact. It requested to see the artifact and, once content that it was fine, departed with it after notifying the team that they would find appropriate compensation waiting within their team room.

When the pair returned to their team room, they would find 500 PD, a Toxic TM and a Magnet that carried a potent charge and may have been just a little creepy if you thought about it too hard. That night, they would also have a pouch delivered to them by the guild as compensation featuring an apologetic note from the guildmaster.

You have the Guild's apologies for the fact that you had such a difficult mission. You should not have had to face up against such a large group as a beginner team. In the future, we shall practice greater diligence in screening our clients. However, you managed to perform marvelously in spite of overwhelming odds and it is my pleasure to grant you extra rewards both as an apology and as a hopeful gesture that you will continue to maintain such a standard in the future.

However, please, do see a doctor and get some rest. You've earned it.

- Veilmys

Inside of the pouch the team would find an extra 750 PD as well as a Mission Pass, allowing them a degree of flexibility when taking their next mission. Hopefully they would not pick one quite so dangerous. A small slip encased in the pouch would state that their standing in the guild had increased by two, whatever that meant.

The following morning, three pokemon would come knocking. The Wingull, Gastly and Magnemite they had done battle with the previous day would arrive, somewhat apologetic and looking to join the team. Apparently they had a great deal of respect for Cimm and Nuna after fighting them. However, the guild would allow them to recruit only one team member. Cimm and Nuna would have to choose which pokemon they were willing to let join their team, if indeed any at all.

Though, Cimm could only wonder if there might not have been more pokemon at his door if he hadn't opted to choose such... permanent methods.

Total Rewards
- 500 PD
- Toxic TM
- ??? (Magnet)
- 2 Mission Points
- Bonus! 750 PD extra
- Bonus! Mission Pass
- Recruit choice of Wingull, Gastly or Magnemite

((A solid mission with lots of length. Your descriptions of the area and actions faltered in some places but they were wonderful when they were on point. I look forward to seeing you continue to write.))

A rather annoying hollow tapping is what disturbed Nuna's well deserved rest. After yesterday's escapade into the Toxic Swamp, she felt like she could have slept for ten years and not cared a bit about how badly she'd aged. Nuna rolled over with this thought in mind while trying to escape the sounds that kept pestering her. To her dismay, though, she was rudely met with a sharp stinging on her soft eyelid. Pulling back with a grimace, she cracked one eye open enough to see one stiff straw of hay sticking out from the rest that made her bed. She grunted angrily at the offending thing, raising a paw to crush it under her stony weight.

Now no longer entrapped by the arms of sleep the aron looked around to find the source of the infernal sounds. It took a moment for her blurry vision to clear, but once they did she couldn't find anything out of the ordinary in the rather bland room. The white walls were the same, the heavy black curtains were still drawn, and nothing new seemed to have appeared in the room like it had last night when they had found a bag of goodies and a note lying mysteriously in the middle of the floor. Nothing was stirring besides Cimm's gentle breathing as he rest in the far opposite corner to her on top of dual circular mattresses.

She glared at the feline in apathy for his injuries. He had insisted that he couldn't sleep with just one mattress under him because he was injured, so he had taken hers and shoved it under his for 'extra support'. Now Nuna was wondering if he had just been frustrated with her for showing him up during yesterday's battles, because he certainly looked content at the moment. Which he shouldn't be in the least since he opted for sleep instead of going to the infirmary last night after a nice bath to scrape off the grime that had collected on his fur. Nuna wondered in passing why not even Guildmaster Veilmys' suggestion from the note hadn't budged the stubborn feline.

“Cimm,” She stated plainly and not at all under her breath. Remarkably the luxio didn't budge or flick an ear to let her know he had heard her. The aron had found Cimm to be quite the jittery type around new faces, and he hadn't gotten used to hers yet. Usually she couldn't even sneak up on the guy because he always had one eye on her, even in his sleep. So this moment was quite precious and needed to be treated as such.

The tapping noise continued as Nuna climbed out of her makeshift bed, spreading straw everywhere as she tried her best to tiptoe up to the side of the room that Cimm had designated as his. She was glad that the annoying noise continued, because it made more sound than her metallic feet padding across the hardwood floor. She was able to make it next to the curtained window nearest her captain's resting place. She took a hold of the drawstring with her mouth, pausing just for a moment to look at the peaceful slumbering expression that the feline held. It was quite adorable.

“Oh well,” She mumbled through the string sitting between her teeth before yanking quickly on it. The blackout material rushed to the side instantly, allowing fresh rays of blinding sun to flood the previously darkened room. Nuna watched Cimm's body tense in reaction to the disturbance, but she wasn't about to let him off with just that after making her sleep so uncomfortably. She took a quick breath before hollering, “Wake up Cimmerian! Something's happening!”

The effect was immediate as the cat sprung up in a panic, fur standing on end in every direction, back arched in a high curve, poofy tail pointing straight into the air, and claws on all paws digging into the soft padding of the mattress below him. Yellow irises darted around the room, landing on Nuna as they narrowed into their usual state.

“You...!” He began before flinching violently when he tried to move towards the aron. Nuna watched in confused amusement as the lion stumbled off of the beds and landed on his side with a grunt. His teeth were bared and clenched in a painful looking grimace that the co-captain could only huff at knowingly.

“You should have gone to the infirmary,” She put on her best I-told-you-so look and shook her shiny head. Cimm ignored her and stood on shaky limbs, leaving Nuna to wonder if the paralysis he had contracted in the battle before was still in effect. His unwilling legs were no doubt a hindrance to his already aching, battered body. Instead of helping the cat, though, the steely pokemon opted for sitting back and watching him struggle to stand.

“Why didn't you answer the door?” Cimm suddenly hissed the question at her. She cocked her head to the side and blinked her blue eyes. That was when she realized what the tapping noise was. It was incredibly light knocking coming from the room's exit.

“I'll get it!” She hollered as if Cimm wasn't right next to her. She didn't hear his irritated grumbling as she trot up to the door, jumping up to reach for the lever like handle to open it. As the door opened into the room it revealed the awaiting guests just outside. Three familiar faces met Nuna's eyes that caused her to step back a bit. Cimm seemed to sense her unease and spoke up from behind.

“Who is it?”

“S-some pokemon from yesterday.” She couldn't help the stutter that came forth from her mouth, but a wide grin betrayed her excitement. How daring to seek revenge in a place like this! Her blue gaze flickered across the three hovering pokemon, a wingull, gastly, and magnemite. None of them looked very comfortable to be there, and they all seemed a little worn out, especially the bird.

“May we come in?” The timid voice of the gastly facing her asked, and Nuna suddenly found herself confused. They were here for vengeance, right?

“Why? Aren't you just here to beat Cimmerian up again?” She inquired as she tilted her head. An angry grumble came up to her from behind right before she felt a rather large paw slap down on her face. She yelped in surprise as her captain shoved her back into the room. The little rock and steel pokemon found herself with a view of the ceiling as she stumbled backwards and flipped onto her back. She was quick to recover so that she could see what was going on at the door.

“What do you want?” Cimm grumbled at the three pokemon, who all flinched under his deep tone that she had learned to ignore on day one. The wingull and magnemite looked to their ghostly companion nervously.

“W-well, we just wanted to apologize for yesterday,” It explained while Nuna tried to figure out if the voice sounded feminine or masculine. It was kind of an ambiguous tone, really, like an echo from far away yet clearly able to be heard, “And what you did yesterday, well, it gave us cause to think about what we want to do with our lives. So, we... We thought we'd join the guild.”

“And, is that all?” Cimm deadpanned. Nuna rolled her eyes at the grumpy feline until they landed back on the jittery looking trio. The wingull seemed most nervous out of all three, flitting about jerkily as it struggled to maintain eye contact with the luxio. Nuna didn't really recognize that pokemon either, so she assumed it must have come into contact with her leader before she caught up with him.

“No, actually...” The gastly continued, “Only two members are allowed on a starting team, and we would be honored i-if you would t-take one of us into your care.” Nuna perked at the apprehensive suggestion.

“What!? Are you saying you want to join our Team?” She questioned, shoving Cimm out of her way and only seeing him tremble in contained agony out of her peripherals from the rough action. The gastly seemed concerned for the cat's injuries, but nodded a 'yes' to her inquiry, “Just one of you? Why not all of you?”

“Because, idiot,” Cimm began sharply as he regained control over his body, though Nuna's sideways glance over to him revealed to her that his control over his anger was quite precarious at the moment, “There's no way a newer Team like ours would ever be allowed to handle that many members. We haven't proven ourselves yet.”

“But you have to us!” The spirit pokemon interjected quickly, gaining the Team leader's attention again, “Your strength and endurance was really something!”

“Was it now?”
Another response without emotion escaped Cimmerian and made Nuna roll her eyes again. His bipolar attitudes were quite strange to her, though it was very entertaining to watch at times. She examined the cat as his usual irritated expression melted into an unreadable, placid one, “Who are you?” He asked suddenly.

“My name is Mana,” The ghost answered first, motioning to its partners afterwards, “And these are-”

“I only asked you.” Cimm interrupted with a dismissive flick of his tail. The three seemed a bit startled at this, and Nuna was left wondering why they seemed to grow more nervous every time the luxio spoke. Cimm huffed and donned his usual snarky features, “Okay, ghost, you can join. You should feel lucky that I'm willing to fill out the paperwork its going to take to get you in.”

“Are you s-sure?” The gastly stammered, looking nervously to the magnemite and wingull, “You haven't even met the other guys, and I've only told you my-”

“I said,” The lion growled irritably, “You. Are. Fine. I don't want either of those two, and I don't care about who you used to be. You're in my team now. I suggest you quit stammering and go get the paperwork while I take a nap, unless you really don't want to join?”

“N-no! I mean, I'd love to!” Mana quickly put in, acting a bit flustered and glancing once more at its partners before nodding sharply, “I'll join!”

“Great!” Nuna cheered loudly, noting everyone's flinches from her shrill voice, “Isn't that great?” She said with a smile to her captain, who was turning around to go back to bed. Her hardly regarded her statement as he shot her the common glare and limped back towards his bed. Nuna huffed at the irritating gesture before turning her attention back on Mana, “I'll take you to the Guildmaster's office, yeah?”

“Sure.” Mana agreed nervously as the aron stepped out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Sandslash vs. Golbat! The Demon of the Desert Proves His Worth!
Active Members: Demon

Demon stared silently into the depths of the Toxic Swamp, the Sandslash looking around. He wasn’t sure how hunting down a ribbon proved he was good enough to join the Guild, but he supposed the Guildmaster wouldn’t have told him to if it wasn’t somehow relevant. Perhaps it had a powerful Pokémon guarding it?

Shaking his head to clear it, Demon headed in, footsteps silent from years of practice as he searched for his prize. Oddly enough, there didn’t seem to be a great many Pokémon in this section of the swamp. Something had probably caused them to flee – perhaps a strong Pokémon he could fight?

Eventually he spotted what he was looking for: a black bowtie up on a cliff, clearly visible against the bright, poisonous colors of the area. The feral Ground-type examined the area, eventually deciding that the only way to get up there was to climb. So climb he did, digging his claws roughly into the rock and slowly but surely heading upward to his destination.

Eventually Demon reached the top of the cliff, reaching the top, only to be confronted by a Golbat. He blinked, tilting his head slightly. “…Yes? Fly-thing want something?”

The Golbat glared, flapping in place. “Yeah – for you to go away! This is Golbat’s turf, and that stuff you’re eying is my stuff! MINE!” he snapped… or was it a she? It was a little hard to tell, what with the high-pitched screeching voice and all. Probably best to stick with gender-neutral pronouns for the moment.

Demon considered this question a moment, looking at the bow again; sure enough, the bow was on the top of a makeshift pile of various items that he couldn’t have possibly seen from below. And the mention of this being the Golbat’s territory certainly explained where all the other Pokémon were – this Fly-thing must have driven them out, much like Demon had whenever someone had tried to oust him from his cave.

Well, that left him two options. On the one hand, he could beat the Golbat to a bloody pulp and take the bow by force, which would likely involve a somewhat tricky battle with the possibility of the Golbat calling its swarm. On the other hand, he could always just leave and look for another bow, which would be far easier.

Then again, Demon was never one to take the easy way out. What was the fun in avoiding fights?

The shiny Sandslash rushed forward in a burst of speed, curling into a spiny red cannonball in midair and slamming into the Flying-type. Naturally, this caused the Golbat to screech for help, resulting in a trio of Zubat rushing to its aid and firing Supersonic waves at Demon. The battle-hardened Pokémon simply leaped out of the way, assessing the situation.

It didn’t take him too long to conclude that he was outnumbered and that it was time to change tactics. Demon kicked up a large amount of dust and sand, obscuring him from view, before slipping underground.

The Zubat and their Golbat leader blinked when they realized their quarry was nowhere to be seen, only a hole in the ground where the Sandslash once stood. “Where did he go?!?” However, before the Golbat could screech out any orders one of the Zubat suddenly found itself yanked underground, followed by a brief struggle before a loud thumping noise signaled its defeat.

The second Zubat met a slightly different fate, several stars slamming into it and knocking it over the nearby ledge to the swamp below. When the third Zubat got the sense to look below it, Demon simply grabbed the small bat, smacked it upside the head with a Crush Claw to stop its struggles, and chucked it at its leader.

Golbat screeched in pain and fury as its subordinate slammed into it. “THAT’S IT, YOU RAT! I’M GONNA– GAH!” Apparently Demon had no patience for speeches or threats, because he simply began slicing away at Golbat nonstop, a blur of claws that the large flying creature simply couldn’t keep up with; granted, each slash on its own didn’t do much damage, but Fury Cutter tended to add up rather quickly.

Eventually the Golbat managed to fire off an Air Cutter that met its mark, cutting up Demon pretty good. Unfortunately, the young Mercenary had had far worse wounds in the past and simply muscled through the pain, claws becoming wreathed in darkness as he slashed one last time, knocking the Golbat out.

Frowning slightly, Demon dropped from his fighting stance, licking his wounds clean before walking over to the bow. “Fly-things weak – no fun,” he muttered in disappointment, picking up his prize. Shaking his head, he began heading back the way he came – maybe he’d find someone else willing to fight him now that the Golbat was gone?

Several hours (and more than a few fights) later, the battle-scarred Sandslash arrived back at the Guild bruised and bloodstained but content, heading to the Guildmaster and offering the bow. “Here bow. Fun hunt.” Sure, the Golbat he’d faced was a pushover, but the fights he’d gotten from Pokémon returning to that section of the swamp more than made up for it. ...He should probably tend to his wounds and wash off the bloodstains, though.

(I felt like making a Mercenary team... and Demon's what I came up with for the leader char. YAY FOR BATTLE MANIACS! mrgreen )

Veilmys

"Oh my. You look like you had quite the... hunt, as you put it." Veilmys was a little bewildered by the fact that Demon seemed so pleased in spite of his obvious injuries but the Sandslash seemed no worse for wear so he simply took the bow carefully and set about conducting his usual examination. It was with a smile that he greeted the out-of-place little thread that confirmed the authenticity of the bow as well as Demon's success. "Congratulations~" Veilmys handed back not just the bow but a voucher as well. "Simply take that to the Partner Assignment Office and they'll set you up with a partner. If you need any help, simply show any of the guild staff the voucher and they'll guide you in the right direction."
Veilmys wasn't entirely certain how... articulate Demon was, which further called into question his ability to read, but he would be able to make his way to the office one way or another.
"Since you're now officially a guild member, feel free to use the Infirmary if you need someone to take a look at those scratches, alright?"

Demon nodded in thanks, taking the bow and the voucher and wandering off, idly hoping that his new den would be easy to spot - he wasn't very good with the word-scratch-things everyone else seemed to favor.
