Clawdeen, a cougar anthro, was in the hospital holding a little blanket in her arms. She had just had a baby, but it was about 3 weeks early. Her boyfriend was arrested for child abuse, and domestic violence and assault towards Clawdeen. Clawdeen smiled as she was holding her baby. The hospital called her best friend since her family wanted nothing to do with her anymore. She'd had a little girl, who had just been checked out and fed. Little Kari was asleep in her mother's arms inside of a little pink blanket. She was named after her deceased great grandmother, the only person to actually love Clawdeen.
Clawdeen was tired and had been treated for a head injury as well as being on oxygen since she had a complication during the birth where she'd had trouble breathing because of the pain. But it was all worth it since her baby was alright. "Thank goodness we still have you. but I don't know what I'll do for shelter.....I might not be able to raise you on my own....." She said as she started crying a bit but was trying to keep calm.

 ~Darmith Leopard~Darmith was just getting off work when he got the call, which after a long stressful day, this wasn't what he wanted to hear. The whole ride over to the hospital he was worried about Clawdeen and the baby, but mad at her boyfriend for what he did to her. Once he got there, he talked to a nurse, told him who he was, and she took him to Clawdeen's room. He had gotten there just in time to see her crying, which made him worry even more as he went to her. "Clawdeen... how are you and the baby holding up?" As he asked, he reached over and whipped her tears away as he looked to her with a smile. The smile was to calm her down, but on the inside he was still freaking out.

"We're both fine. I'm just trying to think of where we can go. I mean you know how my parents are around me. I don't want Kari exposed to that, ever." She said as she was starting to calm down as he wiped her tears away. Her injuries were bad and she had a bandage over her left side of her head from the head injury that Jason gave her when he was beating her for the last time. She managed to call the police and an ambulance when he went out as she was worried about Kari since she was also hit in the stomach, which caused her water to burst early. "Thanks for coming Darmith. You always cheer me up during times like this." She said smiling as Kari started moving around a bit, looking up at Darmith with the cutest icy blue eyes.

~Darmith Leopard~Darmith smiled as he looked down at her while he sat on the side of the bed. When she said that she was trying to think of some place they could go, he just smiled a bit more as he looked into her eyes. "Clawdeen... you don't have to look for a place. You and Kari..." He stopped to look at the cute icy blue eyes looking back up at him. He then looked to Clawdeen before talking again. "... can come stay with me. I will take care of you and help with little Kari here." After he said that he reached over to Kari and rubbed her cheek gently with his index finger. "She is just so cute... like he mother."

"Thank you Darmith. I think we'll take you up on your offer." Clawdeen said smiling as she noticed Kari looking up at Darmith and smiled at his compliment. "Thanks. Would you like to hold her?" She said looking up at Darmith as she would trust him with her life. Kari made a small cooing noise as she looked up at Darmith.

~Darmith Leopard~ Darmith smiled as he looked at Clawdeen and then looked down to Kari when she let out the little coo. Darmith gently took her into his arms and held her close to him. As he did, h rubbed her cheek again with the index finger of his other hand. "Hey there little Kari, I am Darmith a friend of your moms." He said before looking to Clawdeen with a smile. "She has your eyes." He said before looking to Kari as he kept rubbing her cheek with his finger.

Clawdeen smiled as she heard Kari start to purr happily as Darmith rubbed her cheek. Kari then grabbed his finger and started cooing as she played with it. She was too young to smile since she was a newborn but she'd be able to in a few weeks. Calwdeen giggled and said "I think she likes you." Kari then cooed softly at Darmith snuggling up to Darmith's soft fur.

~Darmith Leopard~ Darmith smiled as he looked down to Kari when she started to snuggle up to him. She was so cute, tiny, and soft, Darmith just couldn't get enough of her. He then smiled as he looked to Clawdeen and nodded as he looked down to Kari once more. "It does seem that way, and I like her too." He said with a chuckled a bit before looking to Clawdeen once more. "So, did the doctors say how long you all would be in here?" After he asked he gently started to rock little Kari in his arms.

"I'll be able to go home once they get the test results for Kari back in the morning. They just want to be absolutely sure that she's alright since Jason did hit me in the stomach." She said smiling seeing Kari falling asleep in Darmith's arms. She had a job but she was on maternal leave since Kari was born early. She'd already called her boss, told her what happened and was given permission to recover for as long as she needed to. Clawdeen worked at a bookstore and her boss was like a sister to her since they were always getting along.
Kari fell asleep in Darmith's arms as she was rocked. She was so small compared to him and seemed to love him very much. Clawdeen wondered if Kari thought Darmith was her father. She knew he would treat her as his own but didn't want to put that on him even though they'd be living together. ~Darmith Leopard~ When Clawdeen said that about Jason hitting her in the stomach while Kari was still in there. He looked down to little Kari and then away narrowing his eyes thinking about Jason. He never liked him, not even when they first met years again when Clawdeen started to go out with him. He just sighed as he looked over to Clawdeen and smiled as he did. "All I will say about Jason is... that he wont ever hurt you again." He said this as his free hand went over to her hand and gently held it as the other arm was still holding a now sleeping Kari.
After he did that he looked down to Kara and smiled as he watched her sleep. He was also wondering if Kari was thinking that he was her father, but he didn't mind if she did or didn't. Darmith was already ready to take that spot seeing that he didn't want Jason anywhere near either of them. Now he didn't want to say anything about that to Clawdeen cause he didn't want to freak her out just in case she didn't want him to take that role.

Clawdeen smiled as he placed his hand. "You truly are a great friend Darmith." She said as she placed her other hand over his. Kari was sound asleep snuggled into Darmith's fur and purring softly. Clawdeen smiled at this before she thought about it for a second. "Hey Darmith....Would you like to be Kari's father? I'll understand if you don't want to. I just thought that since she seems to love you so much, you might like to. Plus.....I would really like it." Clawdeen said blushing a bit. It was her way of saying she loved him too.

Lupine Duchess Oh and sorry I didn't answer this when you asked, but yeah skipping sounds like a good thing to do ~Darmith Leopard~ Darmith smiled when she stated that he was a good friend, which made him feel even better about himself at this point. "Well I think you are a great friend as well Clawdeen." After he said that he looked down to little Kari as he kept his hand on Clawdeen's shoulder. When she asked him if he would be Kari's father, he was a bit surprised for he didn't think Clawdeen didn't see him that way. He slowly looked back up to Clawdeen as a smile came across his face. "Clawdeen... I would love to be her father." After he said that he took Clawdeen's hand gently into his and held it. "And like a good father... I will always be there for the both of you."

Clawdeen smiled as he said that before she hugging him gently so she wouldn't crush Kari.
As the months went by, Kari was Healthy and happy. Clawdeen was at work right now so Kari was home with Darmith. She was smiling and laughing as she played with him. She was squealing with joy as she was tickled and played with. She loved Darmith as he was nice to her and rarely did anything she didn't like.

~Darmith Leopard~ Hassan smiled as he hugged her back and then looked down to Kari with a smile. 'Wow... I am a daddy.' He said this in his head before looking back to Clawdeen with a smile.
As time went by, Hassan grew more and more in love with little Kari. He was happy that Clawdeen had come to life with him for it has been the best thing to happen to you in a long time. As he was playing with Kari, they were sitting in the living room watching some cartoons as well. Hassan smiled as he picked her up and held her close with one arm. "You hungry Kari?" As he asked he got up and started to walk around with her. He knew she couldn't talk, but she would nod to his questions if it was something like that.
