Dinner had worked wonders and Esmeralda wanted to stay on that path. She’d suggested to Minerva that she hunt alone at night. Her Oblivionite blood gave her and edge in the dark of night and she needed to utilize this to her advantage. Esme couldn’t possibly hope to follow; she barely could see in the darkness and as such would only hinder Minnie rather than help her. Esmeralda quietly watched the sun set deeper and deeper until it was gone in the blink of an eye. The moon rose high above the Malaro desert and the stars covered the sky in a blanket.
Maybe she’d go to bed early, but she wanted to enjoy this a bit more before Esme let the lull of sleep take her. She watched as Minerva went off into the darkness, melding into the night as if she’d never existed. It made her wonder about her own existence and what would happen to her once she was gone. Life would certainly go on, but had she left a sufficient mark on the world? Esmeralda stood and made her way to her tent, she didn't want to dwell on these kinds of things. Bed would be her best option right now.
Minerva left her mother by the fire and headed into the night, she knew the spot she wanted to go hunt in. The moon was high making it relatively easy for her to see, granted she could see in the dark better than anyone else. The night time was so eerie at times; the more dangerous creatures came out from hiding and kept to the dark shadows. Everything else was asleep comfortably awaiting the warmth of the sun to warm their bones. She found the cold of night welcoming, but watching your back because you felt eyes watching you was a little creepy.
Esmeralda awoke the next day and stretched before getting the mornings breakfast in order. She peeked into Minerva’s tent to find her sleeping peacefully. She hadn’t heard her coming back but she seemed to be alright so Esme left her daughter to her peaceful sleep. It was early morning anyway and they were technically on vacation so there was no hurry to anything. Esmeralda had a cold breakfast with some of the left over Uruu between two slices of bread and enjoyed that in the cool morning before the sun rose to warm everything up.
It wasn’t until the heat as unbearable did Minerva finally get up after much twisting and turning. She wasn’t too tired from last night’s expedition but she really wished she’d been able to get a few more hours of shut eye. Her mother was already up, but no surprise there, and handed her a sandwich for breakfast.
“I’m going to go wash up in the river and let you know how yesterday went.”
Minerva took the sandwich with her to the river and finished it off before she undressed and got into the cool water to wash up.
The Peisio Dovaa nodded, noting the dirt that caked Minerva but not saying a word. If she’d been injured she would have told her so that she could heal her. Since she looked fine, Esmeralda didn’t push the issue after handing her food. Though she did get antsy when Minerva took a long time before getting back. The Dovaa had already cleaned camp and fixed up her tent by the time she spotted her daughter returning. She looked her over when she got closer and still found no wounds. Good. It meant she’d simply hadn’t gotten much shut eye that night.
Minerva sat down and sighed, she really could use some more sleep.
“I killed another dragon last night. This training out here really helps.”
Then she began her story of how she’d found her target, a large and old Kiandri but nothing she thought she couldn’t handle. She’d engaged the dragon but this one knew how to fight and fought very well. She’d received a tail to the stomach and been sent into the edges of quicksand, hence the sand caked to her body. She’d been able to get out and get back into the fight, it had been long but she’d killed it and came back home sore and dirty.
“You should try and get more sleep. I can maybe try and bring over some water and keep a cool seal on your tent so you can get a bit more rest.”
Minerva agreed and went back into her tent. Esmeralda went to the river and returned with as much water as she’d been able to carry and created a bubble over Minerva’s tent. She went back three times to get water and cover it so it could stay like that for a few hours at least. It was going to be hard work to keep it up but it wasn’t like she had anything else to do.
