Spring... it was spring yet again. The sky was blue and the sun was shining, the snow was gone and the breeze was warm, the flowers were starting to bloom and the birds were flitting here and there. It would have been a glorious day if only the little girl sitting on a bench in a grassy place at the university would knotice it. Her maryjanes didn't even touch the ground, although just barely, as she leaned against the wooden back. The breeze tugged at the white bow tied securely in her hair. School was out for the day for her but her father had something to do with his class still so here she was just waiting until it was time to go.
As she sat there she was reminded about the countless times she and her mother would go to the local park and watch the birds. They would bring seed and feed the curious little sparrows, pigeons, and the others that showed up. They would giggle at the antics of the squirrels and talk about all manor of things. Abby would ask her mother to tell her a story or to show her a new dance move. They would spend the whole day together and when her father was done for the day he would come bounding into the park calling for his girls, his beautiful girls.
The young girl didn't even knotice a tear fall down her cheek as she remembered those times. Now her father spend his time working, working, working. Her mother was dead and now Abby was alone. Even if it was only figuratively it still felt to the young girl as if she was the only girl left in the world. So she stayed there ignoring the occasional student that strolled by and stared into time and space, remembering what was and what never could be again.

Melinda was so glad for Spring, as it meant she could wear skirts once again. With a flower print skirt, white long sleeve, and a simple beige jacket, she held her flute case in hand as she makes her way to her normal area in the park. A soft hum coming from her, given she was in a good mood. Her eyes scanning all those around, some she knew and even waved to. It was the the little girl who had a tear running down her face that caught her attention.
Pausing in her steps, she watches her for a moment. Her heart going out to her, as she hated seeing a child cry. Slowly moving, not to startle her, she kneels down just a few inches from her "Hello...could I join you?" her voice was gentle as she gives her a small smile "I'm Melinda, and I couldn't help but notice you were alone."
Abby was sitting there just sunk in her thoughts when a voice tugged her back to reality. She found a friendly face talking to her just a short distance away. Abby started lightly as stuttered out a greeting her accent adding a slight lilt to her words, "oh, yes. Yes of course." She gestured to the rest of the bench. She self consciously rubbed at her face, erasing all traces of tears.
Addy smiled sadly back at the kind lady and introduced herself, "it's nice to meet you Melinda. I'm Abby, Abigail. I'm just waiting for my father's class to get out. And you?" The young girl looked at the lady over, mentally approving her outfit and wondering if she could find that skirt since it really was such a nice floral pattern. "What brings you out here?" Small talk was imperative for a lady, besides Abby was curious since most of the people who were walking by seemed to be hurrying to or from somewhere. It seemed that only Abby and Melinda had time on their hands.

Taking a seat next to Abby, Melinda brushes her hands over her skirt before setting her flute case down next to her "I have a break between classes, so I come here tot he park and practice. It helps me relax, and its a nice getaway from campus." she chuckles before she mentally notes that Abby was wiping at her face.
"I have to ask, am I hearing a hint of an English accent? Are you from England?" rest her hands in her lap as she crossed her ankles "Does your father teach at the University?" she couldn't help but wonder where the girls mother was, given she only mentioned her father.
She ignored the tug at her own heart as she thought of her late mother.
Abby nodded. She understood the need to get away from the campus, it was why she herself was there now. "It also doesn't help that it is a beautiful spring day." The warm breeze danced around carrying the scents of spring; green growing things.
"Oh," she was surprised that Melinda had noticed her accent. Abby had completely forgotten that all the people she interacts with now have already asked about her accent. "Yes actually. I was born and raised in England until we moved to this city a few years ago." Her face made it clear that she did not agree with the move and wished it had never had happened. "Father teaches theater. Apparently his class isn't quite done, or practice isn't at least. I just didn't want to remain inside." She saw movement out of the corner of her eye. She turned and spotted a flash of bright red, "oh!" Her gasp of surprise was quiet. "Look a red robin." She pointed towards the red bird that was hopping around in a bush just getting it's greenery back.

As the red robin continued its fluttering dance in the budding greenery, the girls might come to notice what it was that it was dancing around. If they didn't look carefully they would never see the two bottles nestled deeply in the crutch of branches, half hidden by the new leaves reacting to the spring sun. The robin, which danced in frustration over the intruders, would continue catching their eye until someone was able to take the gleaming potions away, or, more sadly, they may simply disappeared in a flash of light.
