Chel was ready to FIGHT for her signature color. She didn't have her scarf because she was too lazy for it today, but she was at least repping her pink boots and coat. Of course, one couldn't forget to mention the beacon of flaming pink coming from her head too.

Some things were worth fighting for.

There was a part of her that was incredibly aware of what she was doing. Heading into a battle she couldn't win against someone she actually somewhat respected in terms of combat abilities. It was going to be embarassing as all hell. If she acted casual she could pretend it didn't bother her.

So when Peyton showed up she was kicked against one of the haybails, knocking her daggers together somewhat awkwardly.

Peyton had left her coat behind, but that wasn't anything new, she seldom bothered to wear it when she was out on the training field. Besides, in this particular instance it wouldn't have done any good, not with gradient spread of teal that bled into the white. No, Peyton's pink pride came in the mass of bright curls she had pilled up in bright colored messy buns at the back of her head along with the brightest, most eye-searingly pink tank top she owned.

Since her opponent already seemed to be armed the smaller Sun wasted no time in summoning her own, and if Chels had the memory for it, she'd notice the difference in size and shape since the last time they'd crossed blades.

Come to that, hadn't Chels had a bow when they'd fought the first time? "I remember you being ranged." Pale brows rose curiously, but her gaze dipped to the dark band around one wrist, recognizing the bracelet for what it was. "Ah, I see." She didn't ask how or why, it wasn't any of her business.

"Not gunna lie, that's a little disappointing. I was really looking forward to facing off against you at full power." Still, the smile lingered on glossed lips as she came to a stop a little away from the other girl, feet apart, hands down at her sides but very obviously ready if the tension in her shoulders was any indicator.

The smile turned into a good-natured grin. "You want me to take it easy on you?" She already knew the answer to this.

Chel stood up when Peyton approached, trying her best not to look nervous or slighted. She had to admit that Peyton wearing a bright pink tanktop was definitely a smart move.

She slipped her coat off over her shoulders and kicked at the ground until the woman was within speaking range. Her mouth opened, but Peyton took the first words and made an embarassing show of it. Despite it being unintentional, Chel couldn't help but feel inferior between the daggers and the wielders.

However, Chel didn't notice a change in said blades, because their fight hadn't been the last time she'd seen them. Chel occasionally watched Peyton on the training fields (but not in a creepy way) and tried to mimic some of the girl's moves. That definitely added on some pressure too.

"'Course not," she responded, holding one of the daggers up defensively. "S'my ********' color on the line, I'm takin' this serious as s**t." Her words were harsh but they were softened by the assholeish grin on her face. This was definitely just a game, but Chel liked feigning seriousness. "You want me to take it easy on you?"

The decline earned Chel a bright, pleased grin, and she laughed at the counter offer, shaking her head. "Not necessary." She could take anything the other Sun had to dish out. Not cocky bravado, just the truth. With opponents like Jack and Finn the tiny Sun was no stranger to pain, the receiving and the giving. It had been a while since her last good fight, she was acutely aware of the passage of time, and just how much she longed for it. Memory said Chel had been a good fight, but they'd been on equal footing back then. The bracelet around the other girl's wrist took that away from them.

Ah well. It should still be fun.

<You're not at all bothered by this?>

The question caught her off guard, made her smile falter just a touch, but she caught it, held onto it.

And why should it?

<You know why.>

She gave the mental equivalent of a derisive snort, fingers tightening on the hilts of her daggers as she brought her hands up and shifted her weight into something more practical. "Give me all you got." And again that eager grin.

Instead of an immediate attack the girl dropped into a defensive crouch. She wanted to gauge how power those daggers were before she went all out.

Chel saw the defensive stance, one that she commonly took herself. It brought a snarl to her face. Don't underestimate me. She knew she was weak, she knew she had less skill and that the disadvantage would be on her side, but that didn't mean Peyton had to rub it in her face.

It hurdled her forward in what appeared to be a jumping attack, but at the last moment Chel slid under Peyton's arm instead and kicked a leg under the girl's shin. It was just enough to break Peyton's guard; not causing any serious damage, but enough to break the stance. Enough to show Peyton that she was still a full hunter that had earned her place.

"Let me know f'you need a break, kay?" she said with a snort of laughter, acknowledging that neither hunter was going to need a break for this spar.

That had been a clever move. Chel feinted, going down instead of up as she'd been expecting, and the kick to the back of her back against the lawn with a soft thump, but she didn't stay down. A rock of her hips, the press of hands into the grass, and she sprang back up, landing on her feet with a small bark of a laugh and a bright grin. "Tricky." But she appreciated that, it brought a level of challenge to a fight that was exhilarating.

Another laugh at the offer, and she gave a small shake of her head. "Like wise."

<She is not Jack, do not forget that.>

The cautious warning brought an internal grumble, but she couldn't argue. Couldn't even it was unneeded. Forgetting who did and did not like to play the awful games was incredibly unwise, and though she huffed at him, she appreciated Warrick's reminder.

Still, it just wasn't in her to hold back, not outside of a training exercise. Pivoting on her toe, the smaller Sun brought her right hand up as she rushed forward, bringing it down in a lightning quick stab towards Chel's torso. A little vicious, perhaps, but the stacks of this fight were quite high!

Chel stumbled backwards with each little pinprick of pain against her stomach. She missed her heavy shielding that left her completely painless until it broke. Runic shields were pathetic little things; you didn't feel the full impact of a blade, but you felt pain nonetheless.

"Let's talk while we fight. S'borin' with silence," she prompted the girl, bringing up one of her daggers to get Peyton off of her rhythm.

Peyton's form was nearly perfected, no doubt the result of countless hours of training. Chel never had form to begin with; she always opted for playing dirty over actually putting any work into her skills.

She attempted to step on Peyton's foot to pin the girl down for a moment- just a tiny second to break the braided girl's flow, to give Chel something to work with. But her boot crashed into the sandy dirt, missing its target as Peyton moved, leaving Chel wide open for another attack.

The ring of blade against blade threw off that easy rhythm, forced her back a step, but she rallied with a grin, bouncing on her toes as those wicked little daggers snapped back.

"Sure, whatcha wanna talk about?" She didn't know Chel well, had never had much of a chance to talk to the other Sun, though she supposed now was as good a time as any. Certainly, Peyton didn't dislike her, she was fiery, and strong, and bold--she fought well. It was all rather admirable. Chel had earned the smaller girl's respect when they'd faced off in the tournament.

Another swing of a blade, but that sharp edge missed her arm by a hair's breadth. So close.

Chel shrugged, a motion that led into a sidestep that allowed her to dodge the blade coming at her, and run her own dagger along the backside of the arm that attempted to strike her.

"I dunno. Guess we start with how are ya? How's life treatin' ya?" Chel prompted.

Shield or no, that slash the underside of her arm still stung. Peyton jerked back and away, adjusting her hold the daggers as Chel tried to get the ball rolling on a conversation.

"I'm not too bad. I suppose life could be going smoother, but I like to make the best of what I have." She flashed the other girl a smile before closing that short distance again, one small fist coming around. Instead of a slash this time it'd be the hard ring that circled the handle colliding hard with the taller Sun's hip.

"Yourself?" She had a fair idea, but she asked anyways.

"What's bumpy?" Chel prodded curiously. If Peyton didn't want to talk that was fine with Chel, but she had always been a bit nosy, at least initially.

Her own life though- that was always tough. "S'pretty good I guess. Jack's my boyfriend now." There was a hint of pride in her voice and sparkles in her eyes. "Y'probably knew that from twitter though, yeah?" Considering Abbi had splayed it for the world to know.

Chel couldn't avoid the attack, but she was relieved it went to her hip and not her shoulder. Her bad shoulder was still s**t and the panic on her face showed it.

"Oy watch it!" she told Peyton.

"Been an emotionally taxing few months, personal wise, but things aren't all bad." She offered a small grin. "My sisters back on the island." Astrid was a constant source of worry for the elder Creedy, but she much preferred having the tiny blonde with her, than half way around the world.

The confirmation of Chel and Jack being an actual thing wasn't unexpected, and Peyton still wasn't really sure what, if anything, she felt about it. It was interesting, certainly. Considering what she knew of Jack--which was rather limited to his behavior in the lab, in a fight, and towards her, admittedly--Chel didn't seem his type, but hey. To each their own. "Congratulations on your conquest," she offered, teasing tone mild and good-natured.

Warrick gave a curious hum, but Peyton's attention was all for that look of panic that had flashed across the other girls face. Not that she had much time to consider it, not as Chel came at her with a powerful blow of her own. There was a soft grunt at the impact, the slight intake of breath, but also a sharp little slash with one dagger across Chel's hand before she could pull away completely.

"Yeah? What's taxin' ya?" she asked. Chel didn't make a comment on the sister yet, considering that it was a mixed bag of cats. Some people were overjoyed to have their family close, Chel was furious. She'd much rather talk about problems than try to navigate that minefield.

The attack to her hand startled her into dropping one of her daggers. She reacted quickly though, using the toe of her boot to lift it and kick it at Peyton. Certainly it wasn't an effective hit and now she was going to have to go retrieve the dagger, but it was something. Less a thought out action and more a reaction to the flow.

She frowned a little at the way Peyton responded, not because of what she said, but because Maebe had said something similar. Everyone was talking about it like Jack was the challenging one to wrangle, like she needed to be congratulated for the effort. Why did nobody congratulate Jack?

"Thanks man," she told Peyton with her usual tone, not hinting at any disapproval.

Peyton made a slight face, wrinkling her nose as the line of questioning continued. Not wanting to talk about it, still, but it wasn't as if it was a secret anymore. "My boyfriend and I broke up at the beginning of the year. I found out why not long after, and I guess I'm still a little sore about it." The hurt was gone, the anger was receding, but every once in a while someone (usually Rep) would say something and it'd just temporarily crash back.

She definitely wasn't expecting the kicked dagger, it streaked by with a stinging slice across the cheek, and she jerked away from it, eyes wide, but there was a certain eager excitement there as she stared at the other girl.

The runes on her daggers flared red, and Peyton grinned, dashing in with Fear bolstered speed. Almost a blur of blonde and pink as she rushed in, attacking in a flurry of jabs and slashes to whatever bit of the woman she could reach.
