Aquamarine was still not entirely sure how he felt about this Negaverse business. It had been almost a year since he'd been recruited (or, rather, given the choice between recruitment along with Jet and Seraphinite or probable death; knowing what he now knew of the Negaverse, he would insist that this was not an exaggeration), and still nothing of interest had happened except for the whole kidnapping and torture thing over the new year.

Which, admittedly, had been quite a bit of fun, though he doubted it had resulted in any useful information.

In any case, he was still a Lieutenant with a pathetic toy sword for a weapon, and that was simply unacceptable. Between he, Jet, and Seraphinite, Aquamarine was determined to earn his promotion first. That meant draining energy, collecting starseeds, and generally causing as much terror for the other side as possible.

Which Aquamarine was certain he could accomplish.

So it was that he could be found one evening skulking about the streets. Not the dark, dirty streets of the lesser parts of town. Oh, no, he would never set foot there if he could help it. The preferred those streets that were well lit and well maintained.

Presently, he pocketed an energy orb only just drained away from some hapless business woman on her way home from work. A grin spread across his face. The night had only just begun and he was well on his way to earning his superiors' approval.

Patrol in the more well-lit, less suburban areas was easier when you did parkour for fun. When you were already used to using the buildings and garden walls and such to help get you where you wanted to go. Hyakutake had just pulled herself up onto the top of a single-story building when the dark a ura hit her senses. It wasn't a youma. It...was more...human-feeling? But still dark. Definitely not like Ash or Kells or any of the others she'd met.

Which meant, according to the documents on her phone, only one thing.

Negaverse. Frowning, the woman moved closer towards the aura [hopefully], intent on not letting any harm come to the people around. The young man she spotted just...

"As if goths don't get enough bad press, geez." It was so strange...as Hyakutake, she felt capable of being less...bending than she was as Kaida. Perhaps because she knew she had people to protect? "Cosplayers, too." Or maybe she'd just been around Matt and Yuki too much that day.

I didn't think she'd start off with snark, otl.

Aquamarine felt the approaching aura and was quick to pocket his energy orb before the aura's owner was able to see it. Not that the inert body at his feet wouldn't give him away, but he would rather not lose his orb if he could help it. He needed to meet his quota for the week. He needed that promotion.

To prove that point, the sword he summoned into his hand upon sight of the Senshi was constructed of brown plastic and looked very much like a child's toy pirate sword. Indeed, that could very well be the case. Some might not put it passed Aquamarine to steal a toy right out of a child's hand.

“I'm afraid cosplayers and goths aren't the only ones getting bad press these days,” Aquamarine said as he turned to face the Senshi. “Your kind don't exactly have the best reputation.”

"From what I can tell, that's certainly not our doing." She hopped down from her perch to land on the ground, shifting her stance to something more mobile, able to dodge. Especially since the agent was pointing....well, it looked like a toy sword, but she wasn't taking chances. "Especially if you all have anyone with money in your ranks." She hated admitting it...but money got people places. Money swayed opinions, for better or for worse. "After all...we're not the ones setting monsters on people and draining them of energy that is rightfully theirs."

“But we are the ones who belong here, alien,” Aquamarine spat, “not you, so why don't you get going along back to whatever hell-hole world you came from.”

He didn't know that he really believed that whole line and spiel about Senshi being alien invaders. They looked human enough. More human than some of the Negaverse's agents did, admittedly—not to mention the youma. But Aquamarine was an agent of the Negaverse, and if he didn't have even the tiniest thread of loyalty, what did he have?

So he spouted off all the old lines like they were new. And they were.

To him.

“If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have to use these measures to put a stop to you, and the Earth would be at peace.”

Alien. Did he seriously call her an ALIEN?! Oh hell no. This a*****e was not getting away with using that line at her. "Now look here, you little s**t. I was born on Earth. So have generations of my ancestors. I have family who have traced our lines back as far as the fifteen-hundreds, so far, so I am not a goddamn alien." Earth was her home, even if her starseed came from another world. Earth was her home!

"As for these measures, you all don't have to do a damn thing. You don't have to hurt innocent people, you don't have to set your monsters on kids who aren't even in high school yet, you don't have to cause mass panic and injury during an event that is supposed to celebrate new beginnings and letting go of the old!" She wanted to punch the a*****e, but she'd refrain. For the moment. If he made one wrong move, though, his face was forfeit.

“Alien, alien, alien,” Aquamarine chanted, since it seemed to bother to girl so much. “I don't give damn where you were born or how far back you can trace your family history. Save all that for someone who actually cares. The point of the matter is that you're not exactly human, are you?”

Again, he ignored the fact that certain people in the Negaverse weren't entirely human either. It didn't matter to him one way or the other, truthfully.

“And you don't have to be here,” he said. “Go on your way, Senshi. I don't care to debate any of this with you.”

"I'm more human than you." His face was forfeit. Someone who felt unnatural and dark had no place telling her what she was. Especially when she knew who and what she was [mostly]. "I may not have to be here, but in this case, being here is the right thing. Because you, sir, are a little s**t." As she spoke, she was moving, looking to punch the Negaverse agent in the stomach.

She was not putting up with the s**t of an energy-draining a*****e who sounded like her last ex. Arrogant, manipulative a*****e was a dialect of English that should never have existed.

Lucky for him, Aquamarine saw the punch as it was coming and managed to jump out of the way. He cursed the Senshi and summoned his plastic sword, flushing when he realized how ridiculous he must look with it. If only he had something more useful at his disposal, he'd shut this Senshi up sooner rather than later.

“You bore me, Senshi,” he said. “All of your kind bore me.”

Aquamarine shifted closer, raising his toy sword and bringing it down toward her head.

"Guess I have to step up my game!" The plastic sword made her wonder a second what kind of group gave their agents such shitty weapons, and then she was reminded of Kells and the fact he had...well, a book. And while a book could hurt, when one was hit with it, it wasn't exactly a weapon, either.

As his sword made its way towards her head, she ducked down and to the side, leg lashing out to try and trip the teen. He'd attacked her...he was going to hurt for it. Just...maybe not as much as an older Nega.

Aquamarine cursed under his breath when his sword missed its mark, pulling back for a moment to search for a better angle. He nearly missed the leg that swept out at him, but managed to avoid it at the last second by jumping right over it.

He knew he must look ridiculous with his weapon. That was one of the first things he'd questioned about the Negaverse after joining. Apparently it was supposed to be a way for them to prove their worth. If they could fight with the dinky weapons they started out with, they would be more deserving of the more impressive weapons they'd gain later on down the road.

If only he had one of those weapons now. He'd shut this Senshi up fast.

Aquamarine swung out with his sword again, aiming this time for the Senshi's side.
