He knew what he was going to do, what he was aiming to accomplish. That required energy and it was why he was on campus, rather than home, on a wet and drippy Friday evening. He was hoping to get his hands on some drunk college students on the way back to their dorms. He needed their energy in order to test out an idea and see if it was possible and he'd need a lot o energy orbs to test. Already a few students had been grabbed and were in various enclosed areas on campus, so they didn't get hurt or become ill due to the wet and chill weather outside. So while they were nice and dry, and likely warm, he was wet and chilly.

Sweeping strands of wet hair from his face he huffed a sigh and continued on through the shadows and behind a grouping of trees. He was hiding a small school bag there with a jar in it. Inside the jar was the small, though growing, collection of energy orbs he would put to good use when he got the other half of his experiment ready.

"I hope this works...for all the trouble I'm going through it had better." The words were spoken to himself, somewhat harsh, as he once more was moving his hair from his face. The hair holder he'd brought, to tie his hair back with, had snapped when he'd gone to tie his hair back over two hours ago. So since then he'd had to deal with his hair getting in his way and plastering itself to his face. Had his hair not been wet this wouldn't be bothering him nearly as much.

It wasn't often that Ganymede felt like patrolling these days. Certainly not on her own. After her experiences over New Years, Ganymede was determined to cut back on her powered duties and focus instead on the rest of her life.

She still had school to worry about. Dance. Her apprenticeship with the Destiny City Ballet. Her family. And of course she had a baby on the way. Powered life took a backseat to that.

Yet she found she wasn't able to pull herself away from it entirely. Sometimes, whether she wanted to or not, she felt the need to suit up, head out into the night, and patrol. She kept herself to familiar areas and rarely went alone. Solitary trips in fuku were made to her planet, but solitary patrols were out of the question for the time being. She simply didn't have it in her to face it alone.

But with Valhalla she could face anything.

The presence of a chaotic aura tugged at her senses that evening. There was someone skulking around campus. When she registered the power level, Ganymede considered leaving them be and going about her own business. She wasn't in the mood for a fight tonight. Unfortunately, her sense of right and wrong wouldn't let her be. If they were up to something, it was up to she and Valhalla to stop it.

She was unsurprised to find a familiar face.

“Benitoite,” she greeted him, folding her arms over her chest. Her expression was cold and distant. “Up to something?”

He had felt the signatures headed his way, though he didn't know who's signatures they were, he knew they were coming. A knight and an eternal senshi, though that signature was different...something he knew he'd felt before. Drawing away from the concealed jar, now capped, he stepped out from behind the trees and bushes where it was hidden, in the school bag, and turned as he heard his name called.

Well, this was interesting. he hadn't expected it to be these two and yet he wasn't upset. Actually, he was rather glad to see them both as he'd wondered how they were doing, though he was more concerned about Acrucis and how she was doing. "It's good to see you both, I do hope you're both well?" He questioned with a tilt of his head, gloved fingers brushing through his hair slowly. This didn't look good, he knew it, as he was sure this seemed like he was up to something - not that he wasn't. He knew though it would make it seem like he was up to no good and not of the good kinda no good, the sort where he was loyal to the Negaverse.

"When am I not? I'd say that anytime I put on this uniform I am up to something, it just differs from night to night...sometimes more than other times." He said with a bored and easy drawling tone. His right arm came up and went over his chest, right hand clasping his left upper arm.

"I am, to be honest, working on something. But right now I'm more concerned with how you are both doing and if you've heard about Acrucis? I've yet to and it troubles me, has since she was rescued. She was ill...gravely so." he didn't want to bring u p what he was doing tonight, or his plans, and maybe he could focus on this, focus them on this, and he could perhaps find out about the senshi of prayer. He was sincere as he spoke and stepped toward the two, slowly.

Since the incident during New Years, it was difficult for Valhalla to not power up and make sure the people of the city were okay. He understood Ganymede’s aversion to it, and to an extent he would rather not have anything to do with this part of his life… but it was also part of who he was, and he knew Ganymede knew that and felt the same way, despite her efforts to focus on other things.

For him, though. He had baseball to focus on. He had a career he was working towards. He couldn’t be out as often as he would have liked. Still, that night was Ganymede’s choice, and he’d gone with her without a moment’s hesitation.

Upon crossing paths with Benitoite… Valhalla didn’t know how he felt. Relieved it wasn’t someone else, but at the same time Benitoite seemed to have his own agenda. Even though they’d crossed paths before, he just was not sure about Benitoite… The way he spoke about Acrucis like he actually cared about the senshi, or the fact that he remembered pieces of a future where he and Valhalla worked together against those who were causing harm by passing information…

“We’re alive,” Valhalla responded for them, although there wasn’t much else he felt like saying at the moment. He didn’t dislike Benitoite, but he did remember a time where Benitoite would not have hesitated to kill either of them.

“Cut the crap,” Ganymede said.

Before, she'd never known how to feel about Benitoite. Certainly she remembered the night at the carnival, and his handling of Valhalla's and Maia's starseeds, but he never seemed quite as militant as some of the others. Currently, he was not on Ganymede's list of Negaverse officers she wanted to see pay, but that could very well change in an instant.

Whatever he was up to tonight paled in comparison to a week's worth of captivity.

“You had every chance to save Acrucis on your own, and you didn't do it,” Ganymede continued, placing herself, as she often did, between Valhalla and any source of danger. “Like hell I'm going to give you any information about her.”

She felt guilty, not for her attitude, but because she didn't quite know herself how Acrucis was fairing. She'd known the other Senshi had been held captive, but she hadn't had the opportunity to check up on her yet.

Or so she told herself. Perhaps this was another instance of her not trying hard enough.

“You could have saved any one of us and you didn't. You're no better than the rest of your people.”

Hearing Valhallas two simple words he nodded. "Indeed, and for that I am glad. I hope there was no lasting damage." At least not physically. He knew there would be mental damages for them both, and for himself as well. There was only so much he could have done though. He had put himself in a tight positions with so little wiggle room to do things within, but he'd done something at least.

His gaze, which had been on Valhalla, was suddenly on Ganymede as the female stepped into his line of sight. Her words were harsh and he didn't expect much better from her, it seemed her sort of thing.

"Indeed, I did have a chance to - many in fact. However it would have looked very...bad. They'd have found out who did it, and quickly I assure you. I'd have found myself in a cell next to you or flat out killed, I'm unsure which...depends on which General Queen got me first I figure." One was a little insane, as far as he was concerned, and the other calm as a cucumber and he wasn't sure which worried him more,Both would do him in...eventually.

"I did what I did to keep you all alive as well as myself. There is no way to win this war if your side wanders in the dark as they do. Information will help your side and that I can provide...not to mention I'm working on other things as well. I've got my own plans to test." Shrugging his shoulders lightly as he stepped closer to the pair. "Your side has lost the war everywhere but here, world wide, this is the last hold out and to win here you must know the game the Negaverse is playing and you must learn to counter it and play the same game. If you lose this city we wind up all lost." The thought of that future not only bothered and troubled him but it went against why he joined and it went against all his morals, it irked him in such a way he had to fight it somehow. He couldn't just leave it be to someone else, it wasn't like him any more to back down from a fight. He wasn't the sort to fight when he'd first joined, he wasn't the active sort, but over time he'd learned to fight and shed blood; his own or someone elses. He had changed - a lot.

"I joined this war to fight for my personal freedom. That expanded to the freedom of those who cannot fight for it themselves. I did not sign up for what they Negaverse creates in the future. That is a tipping of the scales that is too far to one side and it is chaos taken to such an extreme it becomes order - absolute. It was not something I saw coming or was told about. I cannot allow it to happen and to help stop it I need to be alive, at least till a better future is secure."

No lasting damage, huh…? Valhalla lowered his eyes as memories of that week came back. The scar that would never fade from his side or from his eyebrow, the brand Ganymede had on her shoulder by her neck. The lasting physical damage was there, but it wasn’t something he would ever advertise.

He almost argued when Ganymede placed herself in front of him, but knew she was probably right in terms of their magic. Hers was definitely more useful than his. Aside from Valkyrie, but she couldn’t stay around for long. Instead of fighting her decision, he lifted his hand to place against one side of her back, his fingers just barely touching her hand as she crossed her arms over her chest.

Valhalla did not counter anything Ganymede said, even if he didn’t fully agree with her view. Benitoite, while he was obviously a potential threat, one who had nearly killed him in the past, was not necessarily their enemy. Instead, he focused on keeping his hand against her back to remind her she wasn’t alone. Emotionally or physically.

“That future you saw… you’re not the only one,” Valhalla said, glancing down at Ganymede for a moment before his eyes went back to the General before them. “There are ways to change it. I know you’re loyal to the Negaverse, and I’m not asking you to throw that away… but have you thought about changing parts of your own life before it reaches that point…? You… don’t have to work with them to not fight them…” Benitoite purifying would certainly change the future they feared.

“Blah blah blah,” Ganymede said, hardly listening to word from Benitoite's mouth. “You're full of nothing but excuses. 'I can't do this, I couldn't do that. I joined the war for this, I didn't join it for that.' When will you say something other than the same self-centered s**t?”

She was angry and it was showing. She was angry for herself and all that she'd been made to endure; she was angry for Valhalla and everything the Negaverse had put him through; she was angry for Wolframite and the precarious position they all now found themselves in; she was angry for Acrucis and all the other captives who'd been forced to talk or bear excruciating pain.

She hated Benitoite in that moment. This wasn't a new emotion. She'd felt it before, when he'd taken Valhalla's starseed. But it was different this time in that she didn't think she could come back from it. She hated him for his inactivity, for the excuses that kept tumbling out of his mouth. She hated him for speaking of a future she was doing everything in her power to change, while he was up to all the same tricks.

She'd let herself consider that he could possibly be an ally before. Never again. Short of purification, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with him.

“You think so highly of yourself, acting like you can change enough about the Negaverse to avoid the future they have planned,” she said. “But you're one person, and powerless against your General-Queens. Scared of them, are you? You coward. Countless innocent people have been hurt or killed because of you and your kind.”

Ganymede jerked away from Valhalla's hand, turning on her heel to begin walking away. “I'm leaving,” she said. “I have nothing more to say to you.”

"No, I didn't figure I was the only one to see it. It was for that reason I didn't power up for a while. I was worried that some had seen what became of me and would retaliate." He still worried from time to time about that, especially during New Years. He had worried about that, his questionable behavior as well as the future and what became of him. Nothing had happened yet and that was perhaps a good thing, perhaps meant he was safe. There was no way to know for sure though, unless he really wanted to give himself away.

"Loyal? To the Negaverse? Hardly. I would not be seeking to take them down from the inside were I loyal." he stated with a mischevious smile flashed at the couple, a twinkle in slate hued eyes. "No, I'm planning my own little attack upon them, though I have to see if it's possible first." If it was possible then it would certainly change things if he could get away with it. But he was far from knowing if it could even work.

"Excuses? Hardly, explanations really." Who would want to throw themselves into the arms of death, and possible torture? It would keep him form helping in the future but more importantly he wasn't suicidal, far from it really. His actions though, especially as of recently, might cause people to think he was suicidal but he thought of it as more toeing a line and playing a game from in the shadows. He was being sneaky and he knew it and unlike where it would give some people a thrill it didn't bring a thrill to him. He was cautious and tried to play it close to the vest. Biting down on his bottom lip his eyes focused on the other.

"You would, of course, out yourself to help others. Throw your life away and anything productive you could do in the future to help. I think in terms of the future and working toward it." And he didn't have a death wish, he just was willing to accepted it as a possibility - because he wasn't stupid. "I'm not scared of them but I understand the power they have - you have not seen the power they contain nor the power of Metallia. It was a General Queen who killed Beryl. I am not stupid enough to cross that sort of power - at least not openly. But it's good that I don't work in the open...I prefer the shadows and chose my weapons carefully." He didn't deny that he'd hurt or killed people, he had done both in fact. There was no point in denying the truth, it wasn't within his nature. He might stretch things, he would omit things, but he didn't outright lie; he was bad at it.

"I'm trying to find a way to kill Metalia." He stated, a sudden sentence escaping the blond, as he tried to keep the senshi here but more importantly the knight. They would, in the future, be his contact to helping people. He may be trying to keep that future from happening but he didn't want to kill whatever they would have in the future...a truce and understanding? He didn't know what to label it as and did it matter? "I can help while on the inside - information and knowing tactics so they can be countered." Watching the blond senshi for a moment he sighed, running his gloved fingers through his hair.

"You're right. I can't change things on my own, hence why I offered information in the future and I'll offer what I can now. I can't change things on my own, even though I am trying to take certain entities out, but many people with knowledge can make a difference and turn the tides here at least. I don't know about the rest of the world - we've won there, but that has swung things too far in the side of darkness and that is not good. It's thrown the balance off." And it had to be brought back to the center, to a happy balance. It couldn't be allowed to swing too far to the good side either.

Valhalla looked away from Benitoite to Ganymede as she pulled away from him to leave. He didn't blame her. They'd been through a lot, just as countless others had as well. The things Benitoite said were... difficult to believe, no matter how much he wanted to. To have someone on the inside trying to fight the Negaverse from within? It was dangerous, probably even stupid. Wouldn't he be better off joining with them and they could fight together? If what Benitoite said was true, he was going to get himself killed.

"I'm sorry," he said, although he didn't specify what he was apologizing for as he took a step backward to follow Ganymede. Sorry for not fully believing him?

"Stay safe," was the only other thing he said, although there was a lot to think about with what Benitoite had told them. Even if Ganymede hadn't listened, Valhalla had. If what he was saying was true then hopefully one day they would be able to make a difference.

He turned then, with one last look over his shoulder at the General, hoping they weren't being tricked and that his hope and trust wouldn't be trampled.
