Persephone (who had not yet named herself - that would come later) had spent most of the night and day after she was purified asleep, curled up in Quinn's arms. She was exhausted, but by the time she finally woke up sometime after sundown, she was rested enough to follow through on her promise to Leto. A year or so late, but at least she would finally do it.
"Leto?" She fiddled with her henshin pen between her fingers. Did she still remember how to do this? She thought so, maybe, but her memories were so scrambled..."I'm ready to try going to space. Um, if you are."

Quinn wasn't used to spending so much time in her apartment, or powered down, or just relaxing. Surprisingly, she was perfectly comfortable laying in bed all day as Persephone slept in her arms. When she finally awoke and asked to go to space, Quinn pulled her own henshin pen out.
"If you're ready, I am," she replied, and called out to her homeworld to henshin and join her girlfriend in her powered form. Leto tried to hide her excitement, knowing that there was a chance that maybe this just wouldn't work or maybe Persephone forgot how to do it entirely. But deep down, the idea of going to space was pretty much the most amazing thing in the history of ever.
And getting to do it with Persephone? That was just the cherry on top of a really delicious, amazing cake.
Persephone took a breath, and carefully linked her fingers with Leto's. She had to carefully puzzle through her memories to figure it out, but she remembered how to pull her old Senshiphone out of subspace. It appeared in her hand, and she closed her eyes and pressedthe center button.
And the universe shifted around them, and when her eyes opened, they were standing on an old cobblestone road. It was wide, wide enough for lots of people, and on both sides were ancient and crumbling Grecian buildings. There were trees, too - but the trees were, as far as Persephone could tell, dead. They had been vibrant once.
This whole place had been vibrant once. She didn't have to see any memories to know that.
"Welcome to Persephone," she said.

Much like the first time mirrorwalking or being teleported, Leto's stomach lurched when she was pulled from Earth to space.
When her feet touched solid ground, red eyes opened to take in her surroundings. Her mouth fell open and her fingers slipped from Persephone's hand as she took a step forward. Her breath caught in her chest and Leto just sort of stood there in complete awe of it all. There were trees! Dead, sure, but that meant that there was once life here. And the buildings! Leto could imagine them tall and beautiful, with the streets filled with people.
Without a word, Leto crossed the street to the nearest building and ran her right hand over it.
She sank to the ground with the palm of her hand resting against the warmth of the ancient building before finally looking back at Persephone- who definitely looked like she belonged her in her beautiful white Grecian fuku.
Watching Leto's delight at everything around her - that was enough to make this worth it. She was giving the other girl something she might otherwise have never experienced, and it was wonderful.
Her phone was still in her hand, and to her surprise, it started...buzzing. Vibrating, with a cascade of incoming texts from different names. Asking where she was and if she was okay.
She glanced at Leto, still distracted with the architecture, and quietly, she sent messages back the same one, to each person.
Perse's Text
I'm okay. I'm safe. Everything's better, now.
The names meant nothing to her, but they obviously cared, and she owed them at least a response (after so long...the messages were over a year old.)
She dismissed her phone, and gave Leto a bright smile. "I know, isn't it? I...I think I missed it, when I was Negaverse." She walked over to one of the ancient trees, fingers running down the bark. "I have to say goodbye. I didn't, last time, and I should have." To people, or to her planet, she wasn't sure. Both, maybe.

Leto watched Persephone for a moment. Her heart sank to her stomach - how could she take all of this away from the woman she loved? She pushed herself to her feet and walked over to Persephone, wrapping her arms around her from behind. Resting her head on the shorter girl's shoulder, she kissed her jaw gently and sighed.
"Seph... I don't want to take this from you. You don't have to join my Court, really. I won't be mad. We can make it work. I don't want you to miss it and have regrets. I don't want you to resent me..."
If she knew what she had on her own homeworld, would she have resented Ares for throwing her through her mirror all those years ago? Leto very distinctly remembered the feeling of her world being torn away from her very core when she passed through the black mirror- and the idea of ripping this all away from Persephone, especially after seeing it with her own eyes, killed her inside.
Persephone closed her eyes, hand still resting on the bark of the tree. For a moment, she really did think about it - thought of staying on the Order side, of having all of this back, of going back to where she had begun and trying to rebuild what she had left behind.
"No," she said, shaking her head gently. "This is just a place - my place, my planet, but just a place. I love you more than I could ever love some dead world. Besides, maybe we can find a way back here someday. It's not like it's going anywhere." That would be a powerful dream - to return to her world as a member of the Dark Mirror Court, and to bring her Court with her.
"I want to be with you, to be a Dark Mirror Senshi." She was determined, and certain. "Everything else is just details."

That someone could love her more than a freaking planet in space was a completely foreign concept to Leto. She'd been in relationships before, sure. But this was... Different. It felt real, and long-term and it scared the ever living s**t out of her but like hell if she was going to let this girl go.
So the moment that Persephone said she had made up her mind, there wasn't a chance that Leto was going to try and convince her otherwise.
"Okay," she said simply. "Then we'll take as much time here as you need to and then we'll go home and get it over with."
Looking up at the sky, Leto was in complete awe. "Do you remember anything here? Is there anywhere you wanted to visit?" The Senshi of Camouflage had never gone to her own homeworld so she hadn't a clue how any of this stuff really worked.
Persephone turned in Leto'sarms so she could rest her hands on either side of her Princess's face, and leaned in to press a gentle kiss to her lips.
"There is...one place, I think. A little courtyard, not too far from here? It was the first place I remembered anything from my past life. I...I think it should be the last place I go, too." The memory was faint, but present, and she was almost certain she remembered it as it was (beautiful and full of life) than how it would be when she found it again, but that was alright.
"It was a little garden, once. If...if I'm going to say goodbye to my world anywhere, it should be there." She carefully slid out of Leto's arms, and offered the other woman a hand to lead her to where she wanted to go.

Persephone's mouth on her own had every worry that Leto ever had completely melting away. She sighed happily against her, perfectly content to just stay here together forever.
It was quiet and it was peaceful and there was no war to worry about. All that mattered here and now was the two of them.
With her fingers entwined with Persephone's, she followed her to the courtyard.
"I imagine this place was beautiful once upon a time... If Ares is right and we'll get to come back, it will be beautiful again one day. I know she's gone but I trust her. This won't be goodbye forever. If I'm taking this from you, I promise you we'll find a way back. I promise."
The courtyard was as she remembered it - if a little more dead. There was the bench, and the trees, and the flowers were gone but that was okay. Carefully, she sat on the bench, and was pleased when it held her weight.
"We'll come back here and we'll take down the old trees, and plant new ones in their place. And make a little garden, lots of little gardens, all over." It was a beautiful dream to have, even if they couldn't actually make use of it just yet. "If you trust Ares, then I trust you. We'll come back, and we'll make something new and wonderful here." She looked up at Leto, and here, in her garden, she looked, wholly, at peace. "It won't be what it was, but that's alright. It doesn't have to be."
Maybe they would never come back, maybe she was giving this up forever. She didn't care, she would dream anyway, and it didn't matter. Even if she didn't have her planet, she would have Leto, and the Court. And people were more important than some place anyway.

The idea of returning one day and bringing this planet back to life, it ignited something in Leto. It strengthened her resolve to follow through with whatever it was that Ares was planning. It reassured her that her alliance with Castor made sense, that she was doing the right thing.
That maybe all of the choices that she's made over the last 5 years weren't for nothing.
Leto sank to the ground on her knees, her fingers digging deep into the cool dirt. She watched Persephone on her bench, imagining what this garden once was- what it may one day be. A part of her silently wondering what her own planet was like. Was it a jungle, like her Princess fuku would imply? Were there vast buildings and tiny, beautiful gardens like this place? She picked up a handful of dirt and watched as it fell from between her fingers.
And suddenly, Ares' desire to go home made every bit of sense. And Leto would never understand why most White Moon Senshi didn't want the same. Persephone belonged here, in this garden, on that bench. Somewhere far away, there was somewhere that Leto belonged as well.
"It'll be better than it was. This place and my homeworld too. One day," she finally said to Persephone.
Persephone slipped off the bench, reaching out to wrap her arms around Leto and pull her close. She nodded, fiercely.
"Not just yours and mine. Everyone's. We'll get the whole Court out here, we'll make our own worlds, and we won't need anyone else." It would be wonderful, and amazing. It was a future worth building, worth working for, worth whatever magic it took to reach out and come back to these places, these beautful little pieces of the heavens that longed for their guardians. "It'll be a new Silver Millennium, except without the whole terrible worlds-ending war part." And she found herself laughing, softly, at her own terrible little joke.
But surely if they left the Negaverse Earth, there would be no need for a conflict? The Mirror could wander the stars, and bring Order with them or let them be left - and the Negaverse could have their world, and they would be able to live in peace. Surely that wasn't too impossible a dream.

Leto shifted and easily leaned into Persephone, as if the two tiny girls fit perfectly together.
"That sounds perfect," she added to Persephone's explanation of a new Silver Millennium. She grinned at Persephone's joke, butterflies making her stomach turn in an amazing sort of way when her girlfriend laughed.
After seeing what the future potentially had in store... A war-free, fresh start was exactly what Senshi- both of the Mirror and the White Moon- needed. This sort of quiet, hopeful peace.
"And the best part is that I'd get to do it with you."
Persephone closed her eyes and rested her head on Leto's shoulder for a long moment. "I can't remember much of my past, which means the future is all I have. And I'll get to build it with you. That's all I want."
She lifted her head up. "We should go back. Isn't there a mirror you need to toss me through?" That was all that was left - her final corruption.
