With one delicate paw stuck in the ground, Riomie glared down at the mud. She wasn't really fond of getting dirty, since it was so hard to keep her white feathers clean. She was holding all four sets of her wings way up out of possible spatter range as she walked. Of course, she hadn't expected to get her paw stuck.
Rio hadn't really expected to end up on the edge of a swamp either. She'd just decided to take a break from her mother and her brother and take a little stroll away. It wasn't like she had anything to fear, really, and she needed some time to herself. Or, at any rate, some time away from her family. They were well meaning, sure, but it was trying, a bit. She just needed to get away, to center herself in that... cold space in her head, the space that made who she was all the easier. She was going to be a Valkyrie, she needed that space. So, she decided some time alone would help her get back to it.
But then there was the swamp. With a little grimace of distaste, she managed to get her paw free from the little hole it had sunk in. It was covered in brownish-green mud now, though. She tried to shake some of it off, but it didn't work.
With an exaggerated sigh, she tried to pick her way around the deeper spots, but couldn't quite manage it. She did, however, finally, get to some drier land near one of the trees, all four of her white paws covered in mud. Rio would have to find a river or something on the way home to clean up. She so did not want to explain this to her mother.
Taking a moment to rest, she blinking her glowing red eyes and looked around, making sure there wasn't anything that would try to harm her nearby. Flapping her wings a little to scare off the bugs, she settled in to try to reclaim that cold place in her mind.

"You'll want to be watching where you step, girlie," came a quiet hiss from some nearby brush. Two glowing yellow eyes nestled amongst a few red watched carefully. "The mud on your legs says you've been wandering in the muck...there's mud that will eat you, or drag you down enough for something else to take a nibble."
A soft chuckle came from between the leaves, a very large reptilian tail coiling near the bush. "At the very least, you'll get that pretty coat all dirty and gross..."

Riomie startled, head snapping around at the voice, glowing red eyes narrowing dangerously. Or, well, as dangerously as a foal could get anyway. She couldn't see who it was who was speaking, aside from a pair of yellow eyes, or was that red? More than one set? She could, however, see the tail of the creature. She wasn't sure if it was a Soq or not, evil or not.
"I can take care of myself quite well, thank you." Rio said slowly, widening her stance a little. Her wings would give her an advantage if she had to get away quickly. She couldn't fly, yet, but she could climb, and she could glide, and jump. "Show yourself. Now."

"No need to fear. My family protects those that come lost to the swamp," the young colt stepped out, swishing his tail lazily behind him. He blinked the eyes on his chest and knees, as if bored. "I'm not one to be frightened of. That not-a-log to your left is something you should be wary of, though. It's been following you a few paces now..."
He stepped to the side, looking at her curiously. "Why are you here? Are you exploring? My niece is a grand adventurer and often explores. Are you like her?"

"Who said I was lost?" Rio countered, frowning at him. Well, at least that explained something, the extra eyes did at any rate. She wasn't sure she was relieved or not that it was another Soquili that she was talking too. Good that it was something that wasn't going to try to eat her. Unless it was going to try and eat her. She'd never seen another quite like him, but then, she hadn't seen that many, but... He still wasn't like the ones she'd been warned off, so she allowed herself to relax a little.
Riomie glanced at the not-a-log and side-stepped when she saw that it was, indeed, not a log. With a few gliding jumps, she was on the dry land near the colt, figuring him to be the lesser of two evils at this point. "What is it, anyway?" She asked, fascinated. She'd never seen anything like it.
Eying him the same way he looked at her, she shrugged. "The world is large, and I am searching for those worthy of Valhalla." She stated proudly. "I can't do that if I never venture out into the world."
