For Kerberos, sobriety was a blessing. It meant he was no longer stumbling and seeing double and making a complete and utter moron of himself. Sure, he wouldn't have gotten to it the way he had, and being drunk had served its purpose, but...he was tired of being that particular sort of pathetic. And he was tired of people seeing him that way, thinking that was all he was.

Which probably explained part of why he was so eager to see Kairatos. He'd caught a feel of a Knight aura and tracked it down, and it was indeed the Bull of Mars.

That, and he was just glad to see he was okay.

"Kairatos!" His greeting was probably way too cheerful for them being on opposite sides and all that, but oh well.

"Kerb?" It had been a bit since he'd been able to power up, but he was pretty sure he recognized the the voice, and he turned to look for the approaching power signature. Last time they'd met had been rather... different circumstances, but he was glad to know Kerberos was alright, or sounded alright. Cheerful even.

There was a brief hesitation as he wondered if it were a trap, but only a moment, because Kerberos was alive and not the broken doll he'd fought once in an dark alternate future.

"Hey! You're alright!"

Part of Kerberos wanted to go for a hug, but that sort of felt like too much at once, so instead he stopped about arm's length away. He was still grinning, though, and he reached up to push some of his hair away from his face. It was a mess whenever he powered up, intricate delicate braiding or no.

"Alive, sober, still a person and not a creepy monster doll thing, yep, all of the above," he said. "How are you doing? I'm not the one who went through hell for a week." Or, at least, not as bad as what Kairatos and Hvergelmir and the others had suffered. His had been personal and quiet and all his own fault.

"Up and moving, all of the above is better than expected." He tried to make it sound funny but it fell flat, even in his own ears. "I'm fine." he added, which might have been a little bit of a lie, but it was sort of a social lie. "Normally at this point I'd probably offer you a beer but maybe I can offer you a soda or a slushie or something instead. Almost feel bad for the seven eleven clerks... those guys have got to have seen some s**t."

Bad enough to worry about being held up, it must be extra surreal to have people in costumes come through for snacks occasionally, depending on how brazen they felt. Of course when you could pick up a motorcycle without breaking a sweat, and wield magic... a certain amount of cocky probably came with it.

"I am glad to see you in one piece." He added, seriously. "I was kinda worried."

There was hell and then there was hell, and one of those hells felt a little like not knowing if people had just died on your behalf.

Kerberos laughed, a little, because he'd give credit for the attempt. "A slushie sounds great," he said. "And this is why I never did overnights in this city." Never mind that he hadn't really had a job that required it.

Or a job period, for several months.

"I'm fine, really, I don't think they figured out...what Titan and I did, to get you guys out. Made me go through the shittiest most intense detox in the world, but given that I'm still alive I think charges for actual treason weren't on the menu." It was easier to tell Kairatos the truth than it had been to even think of telling Hver, maybe because Kairatos had been Relagar once and probably knew exactly how nasty the Negaverse treated its own.

"Good!" He hoped Kerberos was right, he -really- hoped he was right, because if they were playing the two of them for some kind of long leash game... he was going to be -pissed-.

If it had been some of the older rounds of general, he might not have worried about it so much. Many of them had struck him as too smug and arrogant, too pleased to be young and in a position of murder and authority to have even considered that someone might not ask 'how high' when they said jump. That however was before they'd had terrifying creatures like her. Things might have been a lot different if she'd been a General Queen when he was recruited. He wasn't sure he wanted to let himself think about the ways it would have been different.

"******** assholes... You're still being careful right? Titan said they searched my place when someone finally pulled their head out of their a** and realized I wasn't checking in." After he'd managed to go unnoticed for a while, he wasn't sure they'd let others go quite so easily. Vespa was one good example, though Vespa might have made some other mistakes. He hadn't talked to the guy since to find out.

"Anything I can do in the meantime? I mean other than ask your preferred flavor of frozen sugar. Just let me know, I'll try and see what I can do."

Kerberos shrugged his shoulders. Was he being careful? In a way, yes.

"I haven't been home for a while, been staying with another corrupt instead - she sort of uh, brought my half-conscious as home with her after aforementioned detox from hell," he said. "I live with my boyfriend, and I don't...really want them poking around there. As far as I know he's not magical, and I'd rather it stay that way." Than, he laughed a little. "God help the side that gets stuck with him, though, getting him to do anything is like pulling teeth. He'd be the worst pretty soldier on the planet." There was obvious affection in his tone when he spoke of Luka, even when he talked about the man's single most frustrating trait. If he could protect Luka from the Negaverse's continued scrutiny, then sleeping on Lellouch's couch instead of curled up in his boyfriend's arms was an easy sacrifice to make.

"I dunno if there's anything you can do now, but if I ever did leave, and I gave you his name -- you'd make sure he was okay, right? I wouldn't want them chasing him down because I decided to get out, and I can't be sure I'd remember..." He waved a hand, as if to wave the thought away. "I'm fond of cherry, actually."

"Definitely." Kairatos promised. Maybe he was getting in over his head, expanding his rounds to try and keep track of peoples loved ones, but then, he didn't necessarily have to do it -alone-. "Sounds like a good guy." He added. Clearly Kerb was fond of him anyway, and as far as he could tell, that was a good thing. "Sorry, I wish I could tell you what you'll keep or not, but as far as I know there's nothing that can tell you that. I don't know if that makes it easier or harder."

There wasn't really an real 'win win' as far as loosing part of your memories, or at least, he saw very little of one for most people. He seemed to have been an exception, not a rule, which was mostly, as far as he could tell, a pretty big flag on the trainwreck he'd personally climbed out of.

"Cherry's a good one. I like it when they do the lemonaide ones but those are like hens teeth."

Kerberos let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you," he said. It felt better to know that someone would check on Luka when he was gone - and maybe he could talk Kairatos into passing on a message, or something, if the time ever came. Even if the thought of getting out was still crushingly scary.

"He puts up with me, so he must be something pretty special." Briefly, Kerberos ran his fingers over the cherry blossoms on his arm. "He did these. Did all my tattoos." The Senshi of Asphodel let out a small breath. "I think I'd be okay with whatever I forgot. Or with...whatever I remembered, I guess." He would rather forget Kerberos, forget nightmares and blood on his hands - but maybe he would need to remember that, if he ever wanted to be worthy of purification.

But, ah, joking with Kairatos about slushies was easier than thinking too far into that. "I love catching the seasonal flavors, when they happen. Usually weirdly named, but tasty."

"They're pretty awesome." He admitted, nodding to the tattoos. "Impressive I mean." He wished he had pockets, because he'd stick his hands in them. Thinking about this sort of thing made him... what was the stupid phrase again. "body conscious". Right. That one. It made it sound like that awkward moment when you started thinking about breathing and started doing it manually instead of automatically.

"I was thinking of getting one. Hadn't... really gotten past that point."

"Hurt like hell, but I'm proud of them," Kerberos said. "Ones like these take a lot of time, and they would have been a hell of a money investment if I didn't have someone who was willing to guinea pig on me. Might get more, my entire back is still an open canvas."

He glanced over at Kairatos, giving himself permission to take in the Mars Knight. The one attempt he'd made at flirtation previously had been shot down (sort of), but that wasn't his intent, not right then. "You'd look good with a tattoo," he said. "Plenty of space to get one, too."

"I don't doubt it." Kairatos admitted. "I did a little bit of reading up on the idea, but I'm still considering it. Thought it might be a nice way to show Schorl what I think of her souvenirs."

He hated to bring up that woman, but she was the reason he'd started considering the tattoo in the first place. She'd been so very careful to leave a permanent mark to remind him of the time he'd been powerless, but he wasn't in her power any more. Changing them might make him feel a little less...resentful of them. He wasn't sure he could do much for all of them though, but a start was a start.

Kerberos nodded. "You should do that. Reclaim them, if you think you can." He was shitty at taking his own advice, but his scars from Schörl were of an entirely different kind. It was difficult to reclaim what she had taken away.

"Tattooing over scar tissue can be a hell of a thing, but if you go to a good artist, they'll be able to work with it. Don't go anywhere that looks dirty - if you get the heebies, leave, it's not a good shop." Passing on advice about tattoos was far easier than thinking too hard about what had happened in that dark place underground. He'd found it was far too easy to end up back there, and that wasn't somewhere he wanted to go, here.
