Personality: Like most of the Hatake Clan, Kenji appears to be 'droopy' with a melancholy aura about him. His father would bring him to a hill with a brilliant view of the setting sun, where they just watched and had discussions. One particular time, the boy inquired about what it meant to be a ninja. "What is it like to be a ninja? ...Well, I don't think I can answer that. For everyone, it means something different but for me, it's my passion. I'm a ninja because it means my world will be safe." The words spoken by his father had left its mark on his heart. He thought his father would mention the clan but to be a shinobi was more than that.
Three years passed, Kenji continuing his training and preparing to become a genin. His brother was about to become chunin and he didn’t want to fall behind any further. Unfortunately, his dad was poisoned by a foreign toxin during a mission, having saved a fellow teammate from the attack. He didn’t last long enough for them to create an antidote and passed away shortly. Losing their dad affected both the boys in negative ways; Kenji neglecting his training, while his brother became reckless and stubborn. Their mother desperately tried to get through to them but she was too late for the eldest son. Suffering a fatal injury at the hands of the enemy, he too passed from this world. With his loved ones dying around him in the field of battle, Kenji’s path was shaken. He feared dying if it meant leaving his mother and sister behind... but he also feared losing them due to his own weakness. Once he became of age, he enrolled in the ninja academy to become a genin. The young Hatake seeks to honor his clan while protecting his family.

Personality: Makoto is a pretty bold and outgoing girl who isn't afraid of danger. She's the type to look it in the face with determination, ready to fight. That isn't to say she goes out looking for a trouble, which is just the opposite. The kunoichi would sooner avoid violence and pacify the situation with words but even she knows that isn't possible all the time. And in those times, she holds nothing back in an attempt to subdue her opponent quickly. Only when angered does one have to worry for their lives, as Makoto loses her sense of mercy and become extremely violent. Since she isn't a hothead, it's a very rare occurrence nowadays.
As a medical ninja, the young lady will put her comrades and their well being before herself, on the battlefield or otherwise. There aren't many people she trust, save for them and even then it takes time for her to really warm up to someone. Deep down, Makoto is still struggling with the death of her sister; the guilt and grief still lingering but not hindering her as much as it used to.

Being a kunoichi, she was hardly around, leaving the young girl and her even younger sister to fend for themselves. Her sister was very meek and timid, causing her to be picked on and teased. Because of this, Makoto would act as a pillar of strength which lead her into many fights. It didn't matter if they were girls or boys, younger or older. Anyone who messed with Kyoko messed with her and would soon regret it. But this twelve year old academy student had a lot of anger and resentment for her parents who all but abandoned them; anger which she let out on these bullies of her sister. She often got carried away to the point that the younger sibling would have to pull her off her victim.
It wasn't long before it happened- those kids she beat to bloody mess had banded together. They ambushed her and beat her worse than she had done to them, to the point that she had to be hospitalized for a few days. Makoto was so frustrated and angry that she blamed Kyoko for her injuries, calling her a "weak coward". Of course, she didn't mean it but she had seriously hurt the shy girl. What followed was her little sister trying to stand up for herself and when everything went wrong. The one she confronted believed she had come for revenge and quickly went on the offensive, stabbing the girl with a knife. Makoto, who was searching for her sister to apologize, found her and assailant who promptly ran off in fear. Seeing her baby sister with tears in her eyes and a blade in her side, her heart sank as she went into a state of panic. Laying her down, she foolishly removed the weapon and tried to stop the bleeding with her hands. Makoto could barely carry her in her injured state but by the time she got to the hospital, Kyoko had bled out. Their mother had just returned from a mission when she found out what happened to her oldest child, only to arrive at hospital and find her youngest dead. When Makoto explained what happened, she learned of her grievous error and fell into a deep depression from guilt.
Despite being so close to graduation, the girl was held back until she recovered mentally; a request made by her mother, who also went on to retire as a ninja in order to care for Makoto. For three years, the young girl worked on her anger problems which caused more problem than a few, including Kyoko's death. Venting her feelings to her mother helped the both of them cope and eventually establish a bond. Once she felt ready, Makoto finished her academy training with aspirations to be a medical ninja. Personality: A lively and outgoing individual, Chouya strives to give everything his all. His never say never attitude gets him through the toughest of times but his naivete hinders him. He is incredibly selfless, often putting the well being of others before himself. Chouya is also quite brave; however, can be quite careless and reckless at times. Recurrently, his rash nature has him charging head first into trouble but he never endangers his comrades.
In combat, Chouya displays quite the competitive behavior and can become quite cocky when he has the upperhand. It is a heat of the moment thing that he apologizes for following the battle.
