Name: Natash Boelli
Natash from Natasha. Uses the nickname "Gnash". ('Nash' is a common nickname for Natasha, and it sounds like gnash and it goes with her jaws theme alright)
Boelli from Holboelli, an anglerfish species part of a group known as seadevils

Blood colour: Seadwelling purple (#c44a95)

Gender: Female

Symbol: some jaws (in like a ^ shape, just see the ref down there)

Personality: Like most seadwellers, young Natash was raised to know she is superior, strong, and destined for better things than the muckblooded trolls that live on land. That one day she will be a ruthless leader of weak and mindless landdwellers. But Natash doesn't want to be that way.

Natash, or Gnash, as she is called by her lusus, wants to be more benevolent. She'd like to be the kind of troll that others liked and wanted to rely on, and would be her friend as well as a comrade! She has a lot of compassion and pity for lowbloods, and feels compelled to help out the less fortunate when she can. Following the hemospectrum, the ones in most need of help are the redbloods and other warmbloods, while the noble and landed gentry coolblooded trolls, while still needing seadweller guidance, are less in need of her help. Around others, she strives to cultivate an upbeat and optimistic attitude, to better invite the aforementioned feelings she desires from those around her.

Gnash can also be incredibly impulsive, quick to jump to new topics and ideas without thinking about repercussions, and a tendency towards mania when excited. She'll forgo personal space and boundaries to share her ideas, and be unable to stop talking and bouncing around in her excitement. She's a very driven troll, stubbornly optimistic and very good at brushing off disappointment, and despite all the pressure put on her by her lusus, she never lets herself give in. She might be somewhat simpleminded, and strategy has never been her strong point, but she's hardworking and diligent.

The seadweller girl is hyper-aware of her imperfections. Her lusus, Angel, points out her flaws and makes sure that Gnash is well aware of them. Angel puts steep demands on her that she doesn't think she can live up to (Her ideal highblood is a troll who is well-composed and smart and in control of themselves, and basically the opposite of her), leading to some deep-seated insecurity. She's ugly and deformed looking, she's not clever or a good leader, and she likes boring or terrible things! On top of that, despite her desire to be kind, she harbors a bloodthirsty nature she can't control, just like the lusus she hates. She's angry and has a short fuse, leading to temper tantrums and outbursts. Natash struggles to keep her emotions under control, and often fails to prevent herself from lashing out. Her lusus' voice intrudes in her mind like clockwork, reminding her of what she really is. A violent, powerful seadweller.

In regards to the hemospectrum, it's something she'd rather not talk about. Of course, with her bleeding pump-biscuit she wishes lowbloods were more comfortable around her and weren't treated as so... disposable. She sincerely believes most trolls are equal (with an obvious exception for the Queen and sometimes for seadwellers in general), despite her lusus trying to drill in the caste system and all its glory. She does defer to other seadwellers, keeping subservience because she knows that they must be better than her and any ideas she would have, and would rather they take the lead than embarrass herself. Natash just can't seem to believe that the lowbloods really could be so inferior to her. But she's not too vocal about it, it's a nice secret thought she has.

Natash has some odd hobbies, such as bug collecting! She loves shiny beetles the best, and thankfully as a rich highblood she has access to many beetles, and even goes so far as to use her beetles to buy MORE beetles. She'll go on expeditions to Four Fronds to look for bugs to add to her collection, and adores all sorts of insect-based wildlife and lusii. If only her lusus was so small and fragile...
Gnash has an unusual appetite for all things pink and red colored, as her favorite and the clear best color out there. She gardens on top of her hive, growing all sorts of fruits and plants that come in her favorite colors (she's a big fan of strawberries), and enjoying what few things manage to mature as snacks. Not that she's terribly good at gardening. Most things she plants die quickly with her lack of a green thumb, which is something she finds very disheartening.
And like her lusus, Gnash always seems to have a gnawing pit in her stomach making her always hungry for more! Another hobby she enjoys is the pleasure of eating food in general and finding all sorts of things to chew and bite. She'll gnaw on wood, plastic, rubber... anything she can fit into her mouth, regardless of edibility!

Strengths: Optimistic: Natash always looks towards the bright side of things, even in terrible situations. Her lusus ate her arms, sure, but look at the shiny pink ones she got! She's always got an idea or thought that will make things not seem so bad in the end, and she holds on tightly to the idea that things will get better.
Tenacious: Natash is resolute in her ways, and difficult to change. She's not one to be manipulated easily, and can use her iron will to accomplish anything she puts her mind to.
Compassionate: Unusual for a highblood, but Natash has a lot of pity and love for those who are less fortunate, and is always willing to give a helping hand to those in need, even if only to ease her conscience. She wants to one day be a benevolent leader that all lowbloods can look up to in the army.
Resilient: One of her better traits is her ability to bounce back from hardships. Natash doesn't let herself crumble under pressure! She doesn't let anything stop her.
Flaws:
Insecure: From her looks, to her abilities, and even to her hobbies, Gnash is insecure about everything! She doubts herself and can't stand it. She's terrified that everyone will realize she's useless and better off culled.
Unforgiving: Despite her resiliency and her optimism, she does still struggle with learning to forgive. She can hold a grudge for a long time and obsess with it if not resolved quickly. It's not a good idea to get on her bad side.
Impulsive: Because she hates thinking about things for very long, she often makes quick decisions without thought, leading to bad choices and a short temper. She likes to pick whatever is quickest and simplest, even if it's not very good. Dwelling on thoughts only reminds her that she's...
Volatile: Like a ticking time bomb, it's only a matter of time until she snaps at lashes out at those around her. Her short temper combined with an impulsiveness leaves her an incredibly violent child, almost excessive even as a highblood. It makes for a lot of trolls who will feel the need to walk on eggshells around her, which isn't what she wants!

Weapon: Gnash uses a three-pointed harpoon.

Appearance: Natash's hair is short and bobbed, with a hairband in her blood color. She has three horns, two nubby ones on the sides and a lure-shaped one in the middle. She wears a black swim dress with a gold collar necklace, and matching bracelets and anklets. Her arms, after being torn off by her lusus, were replaced with shiny pink robotics. She does not wear shoes, but she does paint her toenails. She's got colored freckles all across her face and shoulders, and Natash's teeth are long and thin like an anglerfish's. Here's a cool picture of her

Home: The beach. Her hive is half in the water, and half out. She has a garden on top where she grows stuff. She likes the garden best because lusus has trouble getting up there due to her size.

Lusus: An Anglerfish named Angel. She's very large and capable of movement on land (and eating trolls), and Natash rides inside of her mouth when traveling. Gnash hates her because all she does is berate her and tell her to hurt others. Angel is very spiteful and tries to instill a sense of entitlement and royalty into Gnash, as well as a bloodthirsty nature. She demands to be fed frequently or she gets restless, though she's more than capable of hunting for herself. When Natash refused an order from her lusus, Angel tore off her arms and ate them to teach her a lesson in rebellion, hoping to dampen her stubborn nature. She's since replaced her troll's arms with fancy robotics, but they still have a strained relationship.

Her lusus' attack made her lose trust with her lusus and instilled a lot of fear. Being that she's a very stubborn, temperamental child, what usually happens now is her rage gets to a boiling point and then it sorta collapses under the fear, and resulting in games of chicken between them to see who gives in first (and it's always Natash). So she often finds herself obeying her lusus and complying against her will when she'd really rather not...

For trying to be nice to others while she's around her lusus, she tries to avoid her when possible by going into places she can't follow. Being so huge, she's sometimes left outside of buildings, and of course Gnash loves to escape to her rooftop garden where her lusus cannot reach her. Otherwise, she turns to subtle acts. Pressing beetles into someone's hand when she's not looking, whispering a kind word... Natash learns to sneak around her lusus without direct confrontation. She definitely fears the consequences of trying to do something outwardly rebellious again! Until Natash gets over her fears, she won't be able to help anyone her lusus wishes to harm.

Power: None.

Hey Purp! Taking a look at sweet Gnash I only have a couple of clarifying comments, and then she’ll be good to go.

I’ve gotta say, I really love how Gnash’s insecurity drives her compassion. That’s a cool and unique take on the “benevolent highblood” idea, and it’s exciting to see it in the shop! You mention that she generally considers herself to be inferior to others, but that some trolls (such as seadwellers and the Queen) are superior. Does she generally act with subservience around others of her caste? Additionally, does she view all landdwelling trolls with the same pity for their stations or especially those downtrodden? Many of the “landed gentry” have it well off and hold positions of power that she seems to aspire to, so is there some deference there? Essentially I’m wondering what she considers an ideal troll.

My only other comment concerns Angel and the incident in which Gnash lost her arms. It seems like a really traumatic and formative incident, so I was expecting to hear more about it and how it affected her. Did it make a difference in how Gnash interacts with her lusus – does she ever fold to her lusii’s demands out of fear that she may lose another limb? Obviously the amount of power her lusus has over her is staggering, so if she’s around Angel all the time how might she get away with acting kind to others instead of hurting them? Or even further would she try to intervene if her lusus was to harm another troll? It seems any situation seems too precarious for Gnash to risk disobeying orders again unless she has a strategy for coping with her lusus.

Thanks for the crit, Sypon!

Yes, she does defer to other highbloods. Her insecurity makes her feel that her own ideas and thoughts are not good enough, and in the presence of other seadwellers she would rather them take the lead for her. Her ideal highblood (as drilled into her by Angel) is probably... someone who is well-composed and smart and in control of themselves, and basically the opposite of her. Haha.
I would think her compassion kinda follows the hemospectrum, in a way. Like obviously to her, redbloods (and other warmbloods) are the ones who are most downtrodden and therefore most in need of her help, where blue and purpleblooded trolls are usually well off, and while still should need the guidance of seadwellers, may not need the same level of help? If that makes sense.

And yes! That was a very damaging thing to Gnash, and made her lose trust with her lusus and instilled a lot of fear. Being that she's a very stubborn, temperamental child, what usually happens now is her rage gets to a boiling point and then it sorta collapses under the fear, and between them can almost be a game of chicken? To see who gives in first (and it's always Natash). So yeah, she does find herself obeying her lusus and complying against her will when she'd really rather not...

For trying to be nice to others while she's around her lusus, she can try to avoid her by going into places she can't follow. Being so huge, she's sometimes left outside of buildings, and of course Gnash loves to escape to her rooftop garden where her lusus cannot reach her. Otherwise, subtle acts are best. Pressing beetles into someone's hand when she's not looking, whispering a kind word... Natash learns to sneak around her lusus without direct confrontation. She definitely fears the consequences of trying to do something outwardly rebellious again! I don't think she'd be able to help a troll Angel wanted to harm until she can get over her fears.

I hope that cleared some stuff up and made sense!

Great! Yeah, that clears things up! I get a much better picture now. I'm gonna stamp Gnash at this point but please make sure you incorporate the info you're just relayed into her profile! It definitely makes a big difference.

Excited/terrified to see Gnash out and about!
