Okay, guys. This is what we've been waiting for. Everyone wants a Chewbacca to their Han Solo. An R2 to their Anakin, and Obi-wan to their Qui-gonn. This is the system that will make that happen. Have you ever wanted a character that exists, and can interact with the world, but just didn't want to give them four lines a post? A character that serves to add flavor to your world, but can also disappear into the background for a while without drawing too much attention? This is your answer.
Companions are characters that are attached to your main character, and grow along with them without requiring all the attention of the main character. Sometimes we try to draw ourselves too thin, and this system will allow you to build a master or an apprentice for your character that will grow but will also merely be an attachment rather than an actual character.
The way a companion works is simple:
Create a character in the normal manner, but where you would normally put the class of the character, also add "Companion to [character's name]" and post the character in the "Companion Profiles" thread.
That's it. You're done.
You can only train one companion at a time, (you can have several). Training a companion is incredibly simple; if they are mentioned in a post, they gain experience. They will gain one post of experience for every two posts that you make. This means that if you are training your lightsaber combat and they are meditating in the corner, every two posts you make will give them one meditation post.
A companion can have an affinity. They are functionally identical to a normal character, except for the rate at which they gain experience.
Companions can participate in normal combat and other activities, and are treated the same way as a normal character. When rolling for combat, roll 1 and 2 will be your main character, 3 and 4 will be your companion, and then the rest will continue as normal. If you have two companions, only one may participate in combat at a time. This means that if you have two padawans, they will alternate attacking and defending the opponent, they cannot swarm him.
That's it, guys. That's all there is to it. You can now have a pet, a girlfriend, a droid, a padawan or a master that will be there to help you when you need them and to shut up when they need to.
