It was morning and that meant Izotz was doing as he did every morning - working through his forms and stances. It was repetitive and a habit, but it was one that kept him focus and stimulated. It took discipline to resign himself to practice the same thing every day and combat was just that - discipline. He breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth, moving fluidly. A hoof here, a stab of his hooves there. He moved around imaginary blows, diverting imaginary bodies away from his own body.
There was a kind of peacefulness that came over him when he practiced. This was familiar to him - one of the few things he kept from his earlier years. It was in his blood and that comforted him.

For Athena, she'd taken it upon herself to scout out the new area this time around. Well, at least be one of the two that did. Oranbas was always the one who was designated for scoping out fresh territory, while she and Tristan looked over the maps he had gathered during their travels to determine a prime location to set up camp for an extended period of time. But this area... was huge. And it required more than just the trusty veteran to explore it all. And so the massive, powerful mare investigated, sharp eyes and ears attentive, leaving no space undiscovered. Heavy hooves placed with confidence, holding really no means of worry should they cause a stir, or rustle, as there wasn't anything she was wanting to sneak up on... nor anything that she feared sneaking up on her. There were dulled scents of others that had passed through the area, days and weeks old, vegetation plentiful for her and Tristan to graze on.. and by the looks of it, lots of lively game for Oranbas to hunt. The place was rich in necessary resources, though water was still another important find that needed to be sought out.
Scenting the air, nostrils flaring, to try and indeed seek out a water pool of some kind, she instead was met with a perfume of another Soquili, mailed by the gentle winds that bustled by. Bright blue eyes instantly narrowed, as she realigned herself to follow the source of the strangers aroma, following the path laid out for her. If they weren't the only ones here, it was key to find out who they were sharing this space with...
It didn't take too long for her to track down the unknown Soq, stopping a ways off to stare at him and his.. ritual.

If he was young, he would not have noticed the mare's presence. He would have continued his practice, completely oblivious to the possibility of danger. But Izotz was not young and he was no fool. He picked her sent as soon as she came in range and though he did not stop his movements right away, he was aware of her position. She seemed strong and he knew well enough not to underestimate mares - he'd lost more than a few fights against many more skilled than he. So he let her watch until he finished his forms and turned on her, letting their eyes meet.
"These are my lands you're stalking around in," he made no attempts at politeness and his eyes narrowed. "Leave."

She watched silently, observing him as Tristan and Oranbas had taught her to, while also holding some interest in what ever sort of ritual he was carrying out. So fluid, and smooth, like water in a stream. When she was addressed, her posture lifted if only a little more, to keep up her guard and stand her ground.
The mare wasn't surprised by his hostility, and could even understand it, but her brows furrowed in a glare of her own, unwavering from the hold both of them had on each others. That natural anger she had prickled in her throat, and boiled in her gut, but she was learning to try and control that hot-headed temper of hers... learning to try and learn to...'negotiate', as Tristan liked to put it. What a bother it was... actions were all that mattered, anyway. But she withheld, and tried taking a deep breath to calm her voice so it wouldn't be harsh. Well.... too harsh.
"My campaign and I will be staying here the next few nights, to rest, before we continue on. If you don't disturb us, we won't disturb you." she retorted firmly, with an evident bite in her tone... clearly not used to using her words in this sort of manner.

He regarded her with some respect - muscles like that didn't appear on mares without dedication and hard work. He would give her that much, but that was all. He snorted, raising a brow at her tone. "Your presence is already disturbing me." His tail flicked, irritation dripping from his voice. He shifted his weight, taking a few steps to the left of the mare, watching her, gauging her. "Not many find me up here. Keeping to myself makes that easy. Add a few more into my territory and more are gonna come lurking."
He paused, raising a brow as he noted the direction from which she had come. "Besides. You're not going to want to stay there. Walkers come through there on occasion. Don't think you're strong enough to take me, let alone a walker." His muscles rippled and the soft hint of a smirk played across his features. It was an invitation - a challenge and his heart thumped in his chest. Would she accept and give him some excitement? "You best me and I'll show you a safe place you can stay. If I win you move on and find somewhere else - far away from me."musicaloner7 Sickness killed muse. Apologies. <3
