Today was marked by a new step for her, she mused. Today, she wouldn't knock on his door. He did say she shouldn't bother and now she was becoming more comfortable, she wouldn't.

Claude just opened his door one evening. It wasn't a sudden swing open, but enough to send some of the half finished drawings on the floor scattering from the sudden gust. Instead of immediately looking for the figure, her gray eyes instead slid down to the litter of papers on the floor as she stood in the door way. Hm. This was definitely different.

Briefly she glanced up, catching sight of Chance on his bed, drawing--

She had to do a double take, as her eyes as strayed back to the mess of papers, when she noticed the other different thing today. Chance was wearing a dress. Not that this was repulsive in any way, because she didn't find it to be, and she knew he wore articles of clothing as such, but it was a surprise because it'd been the first time she'd seen him do so.

On top of the papers littering the floor.

Hm.

Claude didn't say anything as she stepped into his room and quietly closed the door behind her. She moved in a bit, her bare feet careful to not step on any of the drawings as she stood in the middle of the room, and crouched. Her arms rested over her knees as fingers carefully slid some sheets of paper around, looking at the half finished drawings with interest.

Finally after a good few minutes of silence and observation on her part, Claude looked up at the other Sun and asked, "Chance. What are you doing?"

He was only dimly aware of his door opening (strange, he thought he'd locked it for once), Chance's attention focused entirely on the sketchpad propped up against his knees, which were drawn up. He didn't move from his position even as the footsteps drew closer, sketching out what looked to be a messy scribble of someone long-haired and elegant, his lines rough, his brow furrowed in concentration.

It took him a moment to actually reply to the question posed, and another moment to realize who had said it.

"Drawing," said Chance, in the same mild tone that he normally had, but he still wasn't looking at her, adding a few scratches for shading beneath the ear. "What's up?"

Usually he did look up to greet her. On top of that, it had taken him a while. Hm, hm, hmmm. Claude quirked a brow at him, before she looked back down, skimming over more of the drawings. "Obviously." She mused after a moment, looking over them with a lidded gaze.

"Nothing compared to what's up with you." She answered, and turned her gaze back to him, waiting.

A laugh escaped him.

"I'm just having a bit of a hard time trying to get my vision on paper," Chance explained, turning his pencil around and erasing the line he'd just drawn before trying to redraw it again. "I was thinking I could draw a few things I've seen today, but my memory isn't that good right now, so I''m not satisfied."

It wasn't really a lie; he didn't lie, but it also wasn't the entire truth. Chance reached out a hand and tugged at the hem of his dress, wondering if he should put on some leggings; it was getting a little cold.

"You just come by to say hi?"

"Mn." Was her ever vague sound of acknowledgement. She wasn't buying that completely.

She stayed kneeling, her arms hanging off her knees. "This arrangement--" For a lack of better words "--is manic." She replied. "It makes me think of when Vincent Van Gogh cut off a piece of his ear or when he consumed tubes of Cadmium Yellow paint in the midst of passion for his craft." Claude mused.

"Originally, yes." Came in here to say hi, but it was apparent this wasn't just a 'hi' visit anymore.

He finally lifted his head to turn and look at her, eyebrows raised in mild surprise.

"Well," said Chance dryly. "You can rest assured that I have no intention of doing either of those things. I like having both of my ears, and I think paint would probably taste like s**t, so I'd really prefer not to have to go down either of those routes."

He set down the sketchpad and slung his legs over the bed, getting to his feet and padding over to the closet. After digging around for a few seconds, a pair of dark blue leggings were pulled out, and Chance sat back down on the bed to shimmy into them, completely uncaring that Claude was literally two feet away.

"So...maybe I just got a little too into drawing," he said musingly, glancing at the paper.

Eventually she moved an arm to prop her elbow on her knee, and rest her head in her hand. Her eyes followed him until he was out of sight, but where drawn back to him when he came back into her field of vision. He didn't care she was there as he shimmied into the leggings, and she didn't care he shimmied into the leggings in front of her.

"Maybe." She repeated, picking up on a few words she deemed to 'mean something else'. "What are you trying to capture?"

The leggings were comfortable and warm, not to mention that now he didn't have to worry about the dress riding up too high (not that he did anyway, in the privacy of his own room, but it was only polite). Chance crawled back onto the bed and crossed his legs, picking up the discarded sketchbook.

"Dunno," he said, shrugging a shoulder and glancing down at the current page of scribbles. "That whole emotion thing? It's not really working, though..."

She thought he answered his question in regards to drawing. If he was trying to capture the whole emotion thing on paper and it wasn't working, it was because he didn't know. A brow quirked as she looked at him, her curiosity piqued.

"Mhm?" It was a sound that indicated he should elaborate.

Chance kept drawing for a few minutes before he actually remembered that Claude was still in the room and was most likely waiting for him to explain what the hell he was even doing. He lifted his head and smiled benignly at her.

"I did learn that regrets are still a shitty thing," said Chance amicably. "I don't want to deal with regrets, they're pointless. Just moving forward in life is the way to go."

He scrutinized her for a moment.

"Hold still while I draw your hair."

"Please." Claude tacked on to his demand, just to sass him. She did as requested though, holding her kneeling pose with ease.

"What did you regret?"

"Please," said Chance sardonically, but there was a smirk on his face that he usually reserved for Claude and her sass. He sketched out a few lines to add the depth necessary for her face before he started in on the curls of her hair.

One shoulder rose and fell in a half shrug, noncommittal in nature.

"Just getting involved in anything," he said airily. "What about you, captain? Have any regrets?"

"That's vague." Claude pointed out, keeping her lidded gaze on Chance. "Based on that answer, I could assume you regret coming to Deus, hm?" She mused.

She stared at him thoughtfully for a moment before tacking on: "I'll share if you're more specific."

He considered this.

"I'm not entirely certain that's the case," said Chance, drawing a few more lines to shape the back of her hair, a few more curls around her jawline. "I don't regret coming here as an overall observation, but there are a few things that I believe I could have handled better."

There, that was better. That was less regret and more contemplation. Chance smiled at Claude.

"I'm only curious about life's mysteries, my dear captain."

Chance was definitely winning the Most Vague / Non-Specific Award 2015.

Some things he could have handled better, huh? What were those things exactly, that made Mr. I Think Regrets Are Stupid have said regrets in the first place? "Like?" She prompted with the utmost patience. She didn't have anything else to do today, and she could hold this position for a while.
