When a Lyoko warrior accesses its basic element, they are able to generate and manipulate the element's form. A very beneficial trait when it comes to take out tedious monsters. When trained and becoming masters of any particular element, the warrior will be able to access its advanced form. The warrior does not get the ability to choose its element, the element chooses its warrior when ready.

Fire. A very destructive element. The user is able to create, control, and transform into fire at will. Fire is notable for its intense and aggressive attacking style and general lack of adequate defensive moves, although some notable fire users utilize creative defensive techniques by creating large walls of fire, or shooting down incoming objects with precise attacks.

Earth, one of the four basic elements, is the geokinetic ability to manipulate earth and rock in all their various forms. It is utilized by warrior(s) who have connected to and became in synch with the element of the Earth. Earth is the element of substance, making earth users and their people diverse, strong, persistent, and enduring, which involves waiting and listening for the right moment to strike and, when that moment comes, acting decisively. In other words, earth users generally endure their enemies' attacks until the right opportunity to counterattack reveals itself

Water, one of the four basic elements, is the hydrokinetic ability to control water in all of its various forms. This type of elemental ability is utilized by the people of the warriors who have connected and became in synch with the element of water. Water is the element of change. The moon is the source of power in water, and the original water users learned to bend by observing how the moon pushed and pulled the tides. The fighting style of the water element is mostly fluid and graceful, acting in concert with the environment. They deal with the flow of energy; they let their defense become their offense, turning their opponents' own forces against them. Even when water users do take an attack stance, their moves always appear to flow from one to the other.

Air or Wind, one of the four basic elements, is the aerokinetic ability to control and manipulate air. Air is the element of freedom, being at ease with oneself and continually seeking spiritual enlightenment. The key to the wind element is flexibility and finding and following the path of least resistance. It is notable for being almost purely defensive, as well as the most dynamic of the four elements. Wind users can overwhelm many opponents at once with large and powerful attacks that could prove fatal, but because of seeking enlightenment, such attacks are rarely used.

When a Lyoko warrior becomes well trained and masters his/her basic element to a very advanced degree, their elemental ability transforms into its more powerful form. When an element becomes advanced, the destruction is twice as powerful as its basic element, but it puts a major strain and fatigue on the warrior, making the warrior becoming a very clear target for XANA's monsters to easily take out the warrior. When the Lyoko warrior achieves this form, they are still able to manipulate its basic form.

Ancient Elements are extremely rare since there are only 4 individual elements across the world of Lyoko. The ancient elements are the most powerful form and cannot be taught or learned through matters of simple training. In order to access the power of an ancient element, a warrior must locate the ancient book that its element inhabits itself in. The books are scattered all throughout the world of Lyoko so it is extremely hard to find. A huge benefit after learning the ancient element is that when a warrior masters it, it doesn't include as much strain as the advanced elements do. Even though its benefits are mighty, learning the powers of the ancient elements comes with a huge price. Once learnt and mastered, the warrior will forever lose and will never regain its original element that it started out with. Another drawback when dealing with ancient elements is that the more the element is utilized, the more likely the warrior has of becoming obsessed with its power and become corrupt, so be careful...
