Chel heard the tunnel open behind her. Not a strange thing- the door usually opened when she blacked out or when she had to run in to save someone's a** because they blacked out.
"Oy, m'not dead yet," she called. Maybe they'd sent in the sun preemptively?
Instead she was greeted with her pirate friend. Chel's stance relaxed a bit, her thumbs flicking a tiny shred of blackish shadow skin off her daggers. It was evident from the tiny cuts that littered her skin that Chel had been in the tunnel for quite a bit of time now, but was nowhere near termination.
She was a sun after all. "Well if it ain't captain dickwad. Why you got sun run? You switch divisions on me finally?" She'd always thought Finn needed to move over to sun. He spent too much time destroying things.

"Pity, that!" He called back with a grin, the expression in his eye as cold and flat as usual when he was near enough for her to see it. "Then again, it would be a shame to see that honor tore from my hands." It was meant as a joke, but it came out more dry then amused, as if he was distracted by something else as he said it. At her question, he shrugged. "I felt like it. Needed something to hit that could hit back. Training field was deserted." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement, and Trynt was summoned to his hand before he stabbed him outwards towards the shadow that leaped towards them. It was rather satisfying to see that pointed blade slide through the creatures head before it slid off and fell lifeless to the floor.

"You really know how to make a gal feel loved, Finnigan," she taunted back, noting the shallow gaze. Maybe he was focused on the shadows? Something to watch.
She was surprised by the intent. The training grounds being deserted was unheard of- so maybe he wanted something that wouldn't fight back. "Makes two of us," she agreed, throwing her dagger at a shadowling, chasing it down and then ripping the planted dagger through the thing's head. She'd grown surprisingly competent with her daggers, but then, that was to be expected after half a year. She'd almost spent more time with daggers than she had with a bow.
Sometimes it scared her to admit that she didn't remember what it felt like to fire an arrow.
"Just try and keep up, cyclops."

"It is a talent of mine." He admitted with another bland smile, his gaze moving from her's in order to keep an eye out for attackers. In the past, he had done this course on his own, and had found himself overrun by shadowlings after a while, though he had managed to pass before that happened. However, he had also only been an intermediate then, and was quite a bit stronger now, and after nearly two years of practicing with his weapon, he was feeling fairly adept, mere Moon hunter or no. His smile became more like a smirk as more shadowlings converged, around him, a spin and a wide arcing swing of his lance enough to knock them to the side. "You're going to feel so bad about yourself when a one eyed idiot like me kicks your a** at this, darling." And then, suddenly. "So what's your reason for needing to hit things?"

Chel whistled something impressed at the arc of his scythe. Even Chel knew how to respect when kudos were due.
"I'm pregnant with Jack's zombie baby and he's leaving me for Caelius," she called over her shoulder, trying to find a way to stab a shadowling from the back. If she was going to have these things forever she might as well have started getting creative with it. "Caring's a first. You hit your head or somethin'?"

The whistle wasn't misinterpreted, but Finn grinned and wiggled his butt a little just because it was funnier to him to do so. "Oh s**t. Deus of our lives strikes again. You want me to cut it out of you?" He wiggled his lance back and forth in the air while waiting for more shadowlings to come at him. And then he pursed his lips. "Nah, just making idle conversation." He flipped his lance around and stabbed at another shadow that came close, effectively shish-ka-bobbing it before shaking it off. He gave her a glance over his shoulder. "You're getting better with those." Simply an observation.

"No Finn, s'my precious baby demon spawn," she protested over the sound of a shadowling collapsing and dissipating into the walls. Finn's compliment didn't go unnoticed.
Chel couldn't say she wasn't jealous of the scythe. "S'just somethin' that's botherin' me. Jack's in the Sahara and it's got me on edge." It was maybe something she should have kept secret considering her past dealings with Finn, but Chel just wasn't the type to keep things to herself. She didn't like melodrama.
She was too slow to notice a shadowling that went for her backside, clinging like some kind of satanic backpack. She stabbed at one of the limbs on her shoulders, but getting a direct attack in was impossible. "Help a brother out yeah?"

Finn snorted and shook his head, slightly amused by her ridiculous fabrication, but said nothing else about it, again seeming just a little bit off, and slightly distracted. When she did give him a more serious answer, however, he turned towards her a little more fully, eye sweeping in a semi circle around himself as he did so to ensure he wasn't going to be under immediate threat of attack. "You're worried about him?" He asked, "How cute." Smirking again, he caught movement out of the corner of his eye again (having only one to work with was rather difficult in situations like these) and he used is lance to stab at it, just as Chel asked for some assistance as well. Spinning his lance around, he gave that one a jab as well, though he had to be careful not to nick Chel in the process. However, he had turned a little too soon, and a shadowling snuck up on him from his blind side, unnoticed until he felt claws dig into his side, still slightly painful despite his shield. <********." he cursed, side stepping and pushing it back with the pole of his weapon.

"'Course I'm worried. S'not a sin ********' care about people," she told Finn with a grandiose roll of her eyes. Why Finn and Jack and Ripley thought it was normal to ignore their attachments was beyond her.
But then, it wasn't really his trip to the Sahara that was bothering her. It was just something she could say to cover up her annoyance.
She kicked one of the shadowlings off her foot (never forget you have weapons as parts of your body) and said, "Somethin' like that. What's eatin' you?"

"No, but it can be hellishly inconvenient at times." Such as when they're infected by a paranoia virus, or almost get themselves killed by a psychotic horsemen. The shadowling he'd pushed away received a bop on the head by a lance that was spun around and swung downward.
For a moment, he was silent, debating. "I'm pregnant with Jack's butt zombie baby and wasn't sure how to break the news to you." He drawled, turning her own falsehood back on her.

That got an actual laugh out of Chel. "Well s**t dude, we're in ********' 'nam now aren't we," she chided him. "M'just offended I wasn't invited- why's Jack so selfish yeah?"
She snorted and the noise lifted her spirits a bit. Maybe she'd forgotten a bit what it was like to relieve her stresses with someone else rather than trying to shoulder everything on her own. "How we gonna break the news to Riptide man?"

Finn paused for a moment in his sudden assault on a team of shadowlings that approached, taking a few steps back so that the was shoulder to shoulder with Chel, though facing opposite directions. "Well, we'll worry about that when he's actually talking to me again, shall we?" His smile really couldn't have been more bland at that point. "Going to make for a great conversation starter though, I'm sure."

Chel noticed a few shadowlings restricting movement around Finn's legs so she threw a dagger down to the ground. Her aim still wasn't perfect, but it managed to barely miss his foot by a hair, proceeding to skewer the shadowling nicely. "Atch, sorry- still not very good with these," she told him, picking the dagger off the ground and returning to being at eye level.
"Trouble in paradise?" she questioned, leaving it as open as Finn wanted to be. He could tell her something or nothing, it was up to him.

Finn's knee jerk reaction was, quite literally, to knee jerk and pull his foot away from the dagger that had come so near to stabbing it. Pressing his lips together in an altogether unimpressed sort of way, he shot her a quick, narrow eyed look. "Well then, I take back my earlier compliment if that's still the case." However, she had helped him out a little. That much he would, mentally, concede to. As he began stabbing and swiping away the little a*****e shadowlings that suddenly appeared to be gathering in a large wave, getting him hear and their with their little claws, he let out a slightly strained tsking sound. "Didn't you learn last time that it's none of your business?" He asked, but then continued with, "Yes, actually. But for the sake of the other parties privacy I should probably leave it at that." Stupid Ripley. Stupid privacy issues. Everything was stupid and he punctuated that thought by stabbing a few more shadowlings.

"You probably should," she retorted, "But sounds like you ain't goin' to."
Again, leaving it open for his denial.
