So soon after leaving…it hadn’t even been a month yet…and here she was, getting ready for bed…back in the apartment she had shared with Jett before. The apartment she supposed she still shared…but whatever.
Raven got into her pajamas and walked into the living room, flopping on the couch and putting her head right into Jett’s lap, looking up at the one who was her fiancé still. The guy she loved…but just didn’t really get along with most of the time.
“I know I said I wasn’t coming back any time soon…and I did mean it…but honestly, Jett. I wish that I had come back for a better reason. This business about poor Lydia…I’m not happy with it. Something has to be done about that b***h Painite…you’re the dumb prince. So do something to earn that dumb title.”
She closed her eyes and snuggled closer, sighing.
“I’m not saying you’re dumb. Not really. I guess. You’re just stupid. But I suppose I love you.”

Jett arched one brow, but he was stroking her hair before he'd even slightly decided on a response. "Love you too, dear," he replied, fingers lightly combing through her hair.
'Dumb' or 'stupid' comments aside.
Lydia, he knew, but she was more of Raven's friend than his. They just didn't spend enough time together; he didn't have anything against the girl, and he liked her just fine, but she was one of Raven's gal pals, and there was a distinct line you didn't cross when dealing with your girlfriend's friends.
It was an even more distinct line when it was your fiance's friends.
"What's going on with Lydia?" he asked, taking a little extra effort to massage Raven's scalp while he played with her hair.

Raven looked up at Jett, giving him The Look. “Jett. I told you. Or I thought I told you. She was kidnapped…and it was a whole big mess. That’s why I had to stay here tonight, I have to meet back up with someone to talk about her tomorrow…”
She hesitated, not really knowing if it was a good idea to tell him…
But they were going to be married. They were going to be together. They were together.
She had to really start on the whole…trust thing.
“Well. I have to meet up with her…boyfriend, I suppose. He’s part of the White Moon…and she is pretty damn desperate to be with him…like…you know. Purify and be with him…at least that’s what she told me this last time she was in the hospital…but I’m guessing that things haven’t changed.” The blonde sighed heavily. “I hate this though. This b***h, Painite or something…just…she’s hurt Lydia more than once now, and I just…I’m not really violent, Jett. Not much anymore. Maybe when I started this stuff…but not anymore…”
The girl sighed. “I just want her dead. Painite doesn’t deserve to be alive anymore…and honestly, I’m so glad I’m living where I am…because I know that I’m on her list. Or at least I’m betting that I’m on her list now, and I don’t want to get hurt. I hate getting hurt.”
How on earth did she get on such a tangent? Maybe this was a good start. She was talking to him as best she could…hopefully he would appreciate that.

Jett's jaw set and a corner of his lip twitched when Raven said purify. His eyes immediately shot down to hers and his fingers stopped moving for just a second.
And then he shrugged and resumed his actions.
It wasn't like he had anything to worry about; they couldn't purify, so it was just an empty dream. She'd be better off if her White Moon man just came over, but he wasn't going to argue that right now. The fact was, someone was hurting a member of the Dark Mirror Court, and he didn't plan to stand idly by.
...Especially not when Raven was asking that he do something.
Jett had never killed, though. It wasn't that it scared him, he just hadn't. But he would have killed to keep Raven safe. "She's not going to hurt you," Jett promised, smoothing Raven's hair down. "You stay as far away as you need to, I'll keep my eye out for her. For you and Lydia. How is she? I suppose I ought to visit her, but you're the only girl I want to be giving flowers too." It was a light joke, but he had that faraway, thoughtful look that he got when he was planning something.
Probably trying to figure out how he was supposed to look for a Negaverse agent and do something about her without pissing off what allies he had in their ranks.

Raven gave a sad little smile up at him when he paused in the stroking of her hair. She hadn’t meant to put that sort of a damper in his actions…or life or anything. The blonde just sighed. “I’m just so worried about her. She’s my best friend, Jett…and her boyfriend is pretty nice. I know I’ll ask him to come to our side…it would be so much easier…”
Sure she was being honest here…but there was no way she was going to go full on nightingale and tell him about the phones…she honestly wasn’t quite sure it was the best idea…but it was the best thing she could think of.
And if she did it the way she wanted to..and it turned out okay…there was really no reason why it wouldn’t work…so…
The blonde reached up, taking one of Jett’s hands and bringing it to her lips, kissing his palm lightly. “You know…Maybe I’m not one hundred percent ready to just give you all of my secrets…so maybe you and I should just get all mushy now and tell one another how much we love each other…that would make me feel pretty good..you know, in light of my whole…traumatic time rescuing my best friend…”
She glanced up at him, now grinning quite happily. “I mean…or we could make out…I’m really good with any of it.”
Moving out had been the best thing for her…she was pretty damn sure of that now.

Jett laughed softly; he wasn't in the mood to press anything. If Raven had a traumatic experience, the last thing he was going to do was keep asking questions. He would get his answers, now or later. If Raven needed to get her mind off of things, he was more than happy to arrange it.
He leaned forward a little to touch his lips to her forehead. "I suppose I could tell you that I'm proud of you and I think Lydia is very lucky to have a friend like you. But I wouldn't want to get too sappy, so maybe we could make out. Or," he grinned slowly. "I could just carry you back to bed and we could just see what happens. I might have time for a back rub, if you're interested..."

Raven sighed happily when his lips touched her forehead. Now that was something that that felt like home. Legit like home.
“You know, Jett…you had better have time for a lot more than just a back rub…I don’t have anywhere to be until seven tomorrow night…so I really think tomorrow is going to be a pretty great day to call out of work and we can stay in bed, eat pizza and just…enjoy one another. Because…I really, totally and fully intend to do that…and I know you’ll want to be with me…”
She winked and snuggled close.
“So, my prince…my love. Let’s venture to the bedroom and snuggle down for the night. That sounds good to me. And, I like sappy, so…neyh.”
She was home. For now. But now was all that mattered.
