It was one of those days where Anguis actually had to go out and do stuff. Alternatively known as "shopping day", because the majority of the time was spent getting stuff for the house that had disappeared over the week since Forera was always in and out. Not that he minded, he was glad she was actually back now, but it was always a bit of a pain being the one to go out and do all the shopping.
As it was, he had just left his hive to do shopping in the city. He had a small bag with him, which he had some money and Dragondad asleep in the bag at the moment. If he didn't think too much about the weight in his bag, he felt like a teen, going out on his own without any supervision. As it was, it was hard enough going out with just Dragondad, since Serpentmom always wanted to come along too now that Forera was grown up. It was lucky that Dragondad and Serpentmom shared a language (or at least and extremely similar one, although sometimes the differences between some words caused problems), otherwise he'd have both today. Walking down a street, he took a moment to linger at a bookshop window before taking a turn into an alley he knew led to an exit of another street that had the first shop he needed to go to.

On the flip side, Trusci found herself traveling outside the confines of her hive more and more because it was so quiet and empty. Duckmom busied herself with her twin and it felt like she hardly saw the two anymore. Not that it mattered entirely—she always told herself she was better off without her dumb twin—but Trusci was a social creature and the loneliness that gnawed at her was infuriating. It was difficult to sit still in the silence.
The streets of NHC were a considerable distraction. Here it was loud, busy, crowded; she loved it. Eyes gleaming, Trusci took the time to skitter down sidestreets and alleyways, sneaky as always as she tuned into stranger's conversations and rumormongering hearsay. She was quick to scribble down whatever tidbits she caught down into her trusty notepad.
All in a nights work! Trusci smiled inwardly to herself as she flipped the notebook shut, tucking it away into a skirt pocket. There wasn't a whole lot that could make this night any better; it honest felt like a 'day in the life'. Maybe she just oughta' take it easy, rest and relax and spend her time perusing shop windows. Passing by a bookshop, she caught the sight of someone in the corner of her vision, snaking around a corner into some dreary lit back alley.
Nah, this looked too good.
Hot on whoever's trail, she was quick to dart after them. It wasn't unusual for trolls to use the sidestreets as shortcuts, but something about this troll...—ah ha! Squinting, she caught a flash of teal, and her face broke into a grin. She had a nose for two things; highbloods and scoops. This could be fun. She'd lay low for the moment, biding her time as she waiting for her chance. Where was this guy going anyway? Notebook already at the ready in her hand, Trusci was prepared to jot down every little thing. It was good to know your target, even a little, especially when she was going to mess with them like she was.

Unaware of the troll following, Anguis idled his way down the alley, which was a long one compared to the majority that populated the city. His mind was more on the list of things he needed to get and stopped to dig out his notepad, glancing over the list as he quietly mumbled "Grocery shop, then drugstore, maybe the bookshop?" The stops were situated far enough apart that it would take the majority of his day and planning, so long as one knew where exactly he was going. Another flick through the pages made him realize he would have to look at the money he had and he dug into the bag again, looking to see if the beetles he had would be enough.
"Did Forera..? I'm going to have to yell at her again." There were less than he expected and Anguis knew that his twin had pocketed some. Not that he minded, he loved Forera really and knew it wouldn't be a problem, he just wished she had told him is all. He was obviously distracted by this though and his walk slowed, as he recalculated and figured if he could afford books today or maybe skimp on something else. This was a problem that he wished he noticed sooner, but if only he hadn't been in a hurry to get this over with..

Either this guy was super dense, or super focused, or Trusci was just really good at the "covert operations" thing. She was going to go with the former and the latter, because she was obviously superior and he was obviously just dumb, if his blood color gave any inclination. Highbloods got to live the cushy-without-worry life, which while it sounded entirely too boring, it still earned a lump of scorn from her. In this society, you always had to know to watch your back, always, no matter your blood color, but especially for the warmer castes.
But then again, this was just trivial, paltry pranks, and Trusci was ultimately glad the tealblood seemed none the wiser. The second the child took the time to rifle through his belongings, she took her chance—better sooner than later! She was starting to get impatient anyway—and with a quick flick of her wrist she kicked up the rubbish collected in the alley like a gust of wind would, discarded papers and trash flinging weakly around. There was no breeze, of course; there was only mischief in the form of a rebellion drunk yellowblood and glowing teal sparks.
Trusci giggled, flicking an empty, dented, renegade soda can around for good measure, the sound rattling down the corridor after the initial wave of chaos. It'd be funny to see if the kid jumped like she hoped, and if not it'd be a bummer, but hopefully she'd get some sort of reaction.
If not, oh well.

"What the-?" Anguis turned slightly at the sound of trash stirring, his head snapping up to see the tail end of the trash kicking up, squinting at what looked like sparks among the trash. Was that electricity? It couldn't be and Anguis watched as it swirled, confused and a little anxious. It definitely hadn't been windy today, had it?
His nerves jangled somewhat, Anguis continued forward a few paces, trying to head out. The alleyway wasn't normal and if he wanted to do anything without his lusus, he'd have to move out. Dragondad would probably pick up he was rattled if he didn't and anyways he had to get moving. It wasn't exactly the safest of cities, even if he was teal.
The can rattling down the alleyway made Anguis jump though and at it he turned, trying to see if there was a breeze or a fight that was starting this up. Watching the can, this time definitely seeing teal looking sparks, he looked up from it to see another kid at the end of the alleyway. Were they doing this? He had heard of trolls with powers, but he'd never actually met one, although he wasn't entirely sure if this was even the kid anyways.
Anxiously he called out, "Hello? Are you doing this?"

Trusci cackled, jubilant and squeaky and all too amused. The hoofbeast-in-headlights look never got old to her, and the fact she could get the one up on a highblood meant this little stunt was nothing short of a success. She was a complete and total master of stealth and nothing could convince her otherwise. Trusci supposed she owed the tealblood the honor of introducing herself, what with how she totally got him.
"That's right!" her proclamation was loud, obnoxious, "It was I, Trusci!"
Snaping her fingers, she levitated the same can over into the palm of her hand, flourishing it slightly before breaking into tiny snickers again. She couldn't be more pleased.
God she was cool, so cool. Clearing her throat, she went on, "Sorry not sorry, but you just looked so easy that I had to mess with ya'. You should have seen the look on your face!"
As if her disrespect wasn't blatant enough, the cheeky yellowblood tossed the can to the side in favor of her notebook, flipping it open to scrawl all the tasty deets of the experience. It was totally normal to take notes of literally every little thing that ever happened, wasn't it? Sure it was. She was just efficient and there was no way she could risk forgetting even the smallest of tidbits to every encounter. Especially with whoever this highblood was. She even scrawled out a totally accurate depiction of what really happened!
Okay, maybe she wasn't necessarily an artist, but she always left the pictures to Curtsi and not having that guy around meant she had to resort to some desperate measures. It was good enough.

Anguis would have scowled if he wasn't so utterly fascinated by what she could do. As it was he settled for a frown, his eyes watching her every move as she showed off her power.
She actually had a power! Already his mind was racing for questions he could ask, trying to fill in his mental blanks with what he could pull from the situation. The books had never actually explained much about powers, just that some trolls had them and they were genetic, with the variety of abilities being just about anything you could dream of. But that didn't explain how they used them or what it felt like or how they were discovered.
The grimace slid off his face as he finally asked "How do you even control that? Is it like, something you concentrate on or just-" He fumbled for words, frustratedly grasping at the air before settling with "like waving your arm?"
Then he grimaced as he realized he had jumped right in without even asking if it was alright. "Sorry I'm just uh. Interested. Never actually met a troll with powers." He could put behind the fact she had been messing with him for his quest for knowledge. Not like it mattered now that he knew who it was anyways.

Trusci was busy scribbling in her notepad still, only half listening to the tealblood as he prattled on about something or other. It wasn't until he actually apologized for his rambling that she actually gave a pause, somewhat surprised. She'd messed with the highblood and yet he seemed more intrigued about her than, well, pissed like she sort of hoped.
Well, she didn't necessarily hope he'd be mad, because while she'd been lucky enough to elude any dangerous confrontation she also didn't want to chance it when it could be avoided. Not today anyway. She had her days when she felt daring and dauntless but she already had her fill of mischief in the reward of his startled expression. Still, even she had to admit it was awfully funny to watch other trolls squirm and seethe. There was just some inherent sort of glee that came out of riling up other trolls.
Tucking her pencil behind her ear, she gave the child a passive once over. Never actually met a troll with powers? She opened her mouth to balk out a well, we're pretty common before realizing that the only other talented troll she'd met was... well, her twin. Surely it was more commonplace than that? Maybe she was alone in her desire to flaunt it. Living with Curtsi made her feel like she was, anyway.
"I dunno, I guess I just kind of... do it?" Trusci had never really thought about how she grasped her powers. It was always something so innate and natural and a part of herself that the yellowblood had never really taken the time to dwell on it. She didn't dwell on much. No time to think about the past when the present was right up in your face, right?
"I guess if I had to describe it... it's almost like... I 'unno, flexing a muscle? But in your head? —I mean yeah it takes some serious concentration, but I'm just a great multitasker like that!" She gave a rather snarky grin, hiding a sly smile behind her notebook. The expression was rather short lived, however, as she realized that she was actually having a civil conversation with some stupid highblood. Things sure took a weird turn somewhere along the line, huh?
"I just didn't think it'd be that uncommon," taking the pencil from it's resting place, Trusci began to fiddle with it insistently, tapping it against her chin. How long had it been exactly since she really had a well-natured conversation with someone? She supposed there had been Nahori—whatever the orangeblood was up to these nights—but otherwise it had been a little uneasy and a little eerie and a little lonely back at her hive (not that she'd admit it, let alone to some tealblood).
Okay whatever, it was settled. She'd humor the guy. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad? Despite the s**t eating grin on her face, Trusci was a little nervous, definitely on guard. She'd be ready for anything.
"I just mean, it's pretty common I thought; you've never really met anyone else? What's it to you anyway?" She asked, almost as if she were ignoring the fact that she started this goddamn confrontation in the first place.
