There was a skittering sound that drew the attention of Jacinthus, who had been getting ready to go out for a hunt. It was a strange sound, not one that was normally heard within the house that he shared with Takoda and their daughter Korra because they didn't really have any pets. He wasn't really one for pets, not really understanding the point of them. The only time animals were in the house was when Aysun was visiting because the strange boy seemed to collect the creatures. Aysun wasn't around today, Jacinthus would know, which meant that instead it was something far more troublesome that was going on, their house was being invaded.
Giving a sighing sound he was forced to set his bow aside, putting on his hunt as he tried to figure out what it was that dared to get into his house and risk messing with what was his. The biggest worry that he had was that it was some sort of insect that was skittering about the house. Sure, Takoda wasn't as afraid of those anymore as he was when they first met but that didn't meant that he was completely immune to their presence. Jacin highly doubted that his mate would want to come home to a house that was infested with some sort of bothersome insect, meaning that he was going to have to get rid of them before he and Korra got back. It was his duty after all to make sure that his mate was happy and if chasing off invading bugs was what that meant then he do so.
"Alright, bugs, you have one chance to leave quietly or else I will squish every last one of you." He said as he started through the house, looking under and around things, looking for the ones that were running around the house. As he lifted up a blanket he spotted what it was that was skittering about and his eyes went wide, "Ah... wait a second. Damn it, get out!" He said, his hand snapping forward to catch hold of the creature by the tail, lifting it up so that he could look it over. A merik he thought to himself, giving it a long, displeased look. This wasn't as bad as a bug when it came to Takoda, he probably wouldn't be as afraid of a merik, but the creature was annoying. They got into everything, trying to steal food and water, chewed things up, and were generally a nuisance animal if you asked him. On top of that they were too small to really be useful as a source of food.
Sighing he looked around a moment, trying to find something to keep the creature in for the time being, so that he could catch them all and dump them outside all at once. After a moment he was able to find a decent sized box amongst the collection of things that they had in the house, tossing the merik into it. One down he thought to himself, many more to go if the sounds of skittering was any indication. Damn it, he had better things to do then chase merik around all day. As he caught the creatures one by one he found himself wondering if they would at least make good bait when it came to catching something bigger and more useful to him. Something with substantially more meat on its bones. Possible, but he didn't really feel like setting a bunch of traps, at least not with the weather how it was currently. No, he would stick to hunting with his bow and arrow and just make sure that the merik had been released far from his place. Let them invade some place else, they weren't wanted here by any stretch of the imagination.
What felt like an eternity later Jacin had a box full of merik and after listening closely to the sounds around him he no longer heard any skittering about. That meant that he had them all gathered up. Now to get rid of them he thought to himself as he got his quiver of arrows, putting them over his shoulder, his bow over the other, with the box in hand. With that he headed out, finally on his way to the hunt that had been postponed due the creatures thinking that they could just take over his house. They would likely have had more luck anywhere else in the village but Jacin wasn't having it. Heading out of his house, and away from the village, he dumped the box of merik out, letting them run in all directions, before he continued on his way.
