The morning after their delightful visit, Ripley returned to his room. He didn't want to come back so soon; he had every intention of leaving Otto there undisturbed for a few days. The way the previous night had ended did not sit well with him, so there he was. With a sigh, he knocked on his door, and waited.

He could only hoped that Otto didn't choke on his own vomit in the night. That would be terrible to clean.

Otto was a miserable sack of goop under a blanket on the bed. He remembered the night previous to that morning. He'd drank, but not enough to cause a lapse in memory. Particularly the way it had ended.

Convinced he'd been betrayed and had no one he ought to trust, the blond sat there all night feeling sorry for himself. Which was most every night, anyway.

The knock at the door was left unanswered. Probably someone looking for Ripley, he assumed. So he stayed quiet.

Lucky for Ripley, the door was not locked.

Silence was not reassuring.

When Otto didn't answer, Ripley's hand went for the door knob. It turned easily, which rather surprised him; he hadn't locked it, Finn hadn't locked it, but he somehow imagined that Otto would have, given the way things ended and his typical affinity for locking out the world.

"I'm coming in." He told the door, before opening it just enough him to get inside.

Dear lord, please don't be dead...

Oh. It was just Ripley. Actually, Otto was fairly certain he was mad at Ripley, despite his hospitality. The blond huffed indignantly under the covers, taking a long moment to decide if he wanted to bother sitting up for him.

"Whatever." He grumbled, his face still stuffed in a pillow.

Well, at least he was using the bed. That was fairly promising.

"Good Morning." Ripley replied curtly, stepping into the room and closing the door behind him with a loud bang. After another quick thought he locked the door, then made his way to the bed to sit on the edge of it.

The loud bang made him practically fly up into a seated position. s**t, did he actually do something wrong? All hairs on Otto's body stood on end, on guard, ready to fight.

Ripley approached, and Otto watched him like a deer caught in the head lights. The older man sat down, and Otto dryly swallowed.

"Mornin...." He murmured back belatedly. His body inched backward toward the wall, his feet kicking away the blanket he'd been using as his shelter.

That was better. Ripley watched him for a moment, specifically the way he put his back to the wall. It was a very defensive move, and one he took as a hint of a great fight to come. It wasn't until he settled down that Ripley heaved a sigh.

"I asked you not to drink."

"I forgot." He quipped in defence, staving off any guilt that tried to bubble up. "Pretty sure you said try not to, anyway. I couldn't sleep." He lined up a few excuses in quick succession, his eyes focused on Ripley.

"Fine." Ripley waved his hand in dismissal of the subject. "What's that look for?" He inquired, catching the way the usually dodgy Otto had not once lost his focus on him.

"I dunno.." Otto flinched, his eyes remained on Ripley for a while, feeling brave. Until it became unnerving, and his gaze flicked to the side now and then as if they needed a breather.

"Sure." Ripley went quiet for a moment, waiting until Otto looked away before he spoke again. "I'm sure you have questions.

Otto shrugged. "Not really.. I'd be a total a** if I did." He was content being somewhat of an a**. Not a total a**, though. Maybe.

He swallowed, running a hand through his hair. "I mean... never had much of a problem with other people bein'... yanno." He cleared his throat uncomfortably, "Just a bit weird. That's all."

But that wasn't all.

He bit his lip, and then finally relented. "Did... you tell him? About.." He looked at Ripley like he had before, in the eyes and unmoving. "Me? You know.... my current issues?" His heart tightly clenched and stopped beating until he got an answer. Ripley would never betray his trust. He was certain. But the way Finn had spoken...

"Cause he seemed like he knew."

"No you wouldn't." Ripley was well versed in that particular brand of person, and he was fairly sure that Otto didn't have a capacity to get that bad. He looked like he as about to comment on the other people thing, but then he continued on, about the issue that Ripley had more or less been talking about.

"Not in detail. I told him you were having relationship trouble, and that you were using my room." Ripley explained. "Finn's favourite hobby is pushing buttons. He took a vague stab in the dark." To Finn's credit, he was a rather smart man. A very incredibly stupid, smart man. "And I still haven't told him." Granted, they didn't get much time to talk about Otto, because they were having a fight of their own.

Ripley seemed to have some faith in Otto that he himself wasn't sure he had.

Some relief washed over the young man, his gaze settling to something less pensive. He didn't care to judge on Ripley's taste in partners. Finn seemed like a jackass. Who knew what Ripley saw in him. Unless they were just bunk buddies, in which case all the power to him, he supposed.

"Oh.." He murmured after he realized he hadn't given any indication he understood. So he nodded. "Okay."

His gaze dropped, and he began to fidget. "Was there anythin' else? I wanna brush my teeth... since you woke me up, n' all."

"Just one more thing." He promised, looking at the other man just as passively as ever. "I have been in an...arrangement of sorts...with Finn for a long time now." He explained, somewhat uncomfortable with saying so much about something so personal to him. Otto was the first person he had told so plainly - even Chel had only gotten a roundabout answer.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't let that knowledge cloud your opinion of me. Especially considering who I share my bed with is nobody's business but my own." Otto never was the easiest person to get along with, and always one who ran when he felt awkward.

"Just like it's none of my business who you share yours with, and so it will not change my opinion of you."
