ESSENCEDeaths Head Moth  The skull-like pattern and its fanciful associations with the supernatural and evil have fostered superstitious fears of Acherontia species, particularly Acherontia atropos, perhaps because it is the most widely known. The moths' sharp, mouse-like squeaking intensify the effect. Nor is this a new attitude: during the mid 19th century entomologist Edward Newman, having earlier mentioned the mark on the thorax wrote: "However, let the cause of the noise be what it may, the effect is to produce the most superstitious feelings among the uneducated, by whom it is always regarded with feelings of awe and terror." The species names atropos, lachesis and styx are all from Greek myth and related to death. The first refers to the member of the three Moirai who cuts the threads of life of all beings; the second to the Moira who allots the correct amount of life to a being; and the last refers to the river of the dead. In addition the genus name Acherontia is derived from Acheron, a river of Greek myth that was said to be a branch of the river Styx. What I'd Like: Inky black hair, wavy and long- probably to her shoulders but floaty and wispy, like smoke. I'd like the skull marking on her face, glowing celadon green eyes with black sclera. I'd love the moth coloring and markings all over her body, and moth wings! Feel free to add as much smokey effect as you want.
Personality: Apathetic, calm, mysterious, patient and wise. She's almost the very process of her namesake. She's strangely graceful in her slow movements, tranquil and enduring. She rarely ever smiles, but she's also rarely ever unhappy, mostly she's just quietly contented and calm. She bows to none, but holds life and death is highest respects, taking both in stride. She's very gentle when she reaps, and usually targets those that are dying from smoke. It could be cancer from smoking, or a burn victim from a fire, even someone that got sick through second hand smoke. Her arrival is announced by a small, soft breeze, like a caress. She appears most often as a Moth, landing softly on the person or creatures temple. They relax one they breathe in the moth dust from her wings, eyes closing as time passes. She does not rush the process. She takes their soul with their last breath, fluttering over their lips to collect it before disappearing. The faint scent of burning sage follows her.

ESSENCEBlack Belgian Hare  The Belgian Hare is a fancy breed of domestic rabbit, that was developed through selective breeding to closely resemble the wild hare in physical appearance. Averaging 6 to 9 pounds in weight, the Belgian Hare is characterized by its long, slender body and agile legs that closely resemble those of a hare, and can live up to ten years or more. The Belgian Hare is most known for its distinctively close resemblance to a hare, with a long, fine body with muscular flank, and distinctly arched back with loins and well-rounded hind quarters. Their head is long and their tail straight and carried in line with the backbone. The fore feet of a Belgian Hare is usually long and fine-boned and perfectly straight, while their hind feet long are fine and flat. ETHERPetrichor  Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. The word is constructed from Greek, petra, meaning ‘stone’ + ichor, the fluid that flows in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology. The smell derives from an oil exuded by certain plants during dry periods, whereupon it is absorbed by clay-based soils and rocks. During rain, the oil is released into the air along with another compound, geosmin, a metabolic by-product of certain Actinobacteria, which is emitted by wet soil, producing the distinctive scent; ozone may also be present if there is lightning. What I'd Like: For him to look as hare-like as possible. Big reflective eyes with black sclera, long hare arms and feets, hare tail. Off-Black skin/fur that fades to pitch black near the extremeties, a very lean but lanky/thin build, long ears and a very pretty face. Something like this for his hair. Small eyebrows, like this. On his shoulders and midback he has the henna-like pattern and coloring of dry, cracked earth that fades into his skin. His eyebrows, eyes, claws, and the slight lining around his eyes are all this same color. He has wisps of petrichor steam coming from his body, which is always hot to the touch.
Personality: A graceful taker of souls, he represents what every requiem wants to be: smart, devious, tricky, and devoted to his reaping. He is somewhat like a guardian of the forests, reaping souls that die there from hunting or natural causes. He collects from both people and creatures, flitting in the shadows of trees and always on the alert for the scent of a fresh soul. Usually they smell the scent of Petrichor first when he is near, and he comes with the sensation of rain. In his rabbit form he rests gently on their chests as he waits for them to exude their soul, collecting and leaving just as quickly as he came.

Personality: Always very curious and interested in various different things at once. She's a little flighty, with the attention span of a goldfish. Chipper but softly spoken, always wearing a smile. She's gentle and some would even consider her to be too soft hearted. She may even be considered somewhat of a doormat. She's very quick, always zipping about from one place to the next. She tends to souls from the shore and sea, from people to creatures and takes very special care of each one. She does everything she can to ease their suffering before they pass, even though she's technically not supposed to interfere. She fills their body with the gentle push and pull of the tides, rocking them into peace and eternal sleep.
