He had broken his word to see Fi so soon. But how was he to know what would happen?

The day before he was going to see her, the worst thing that could ever happen, happened. His home, where he had grown from a child to a man...It still hurt his soul to think about, to look at when he stepped out of his room. The fire, the screams. During the day he worked tirelessly on repairs, and at night his nightmares had returned with a vengeance.

But they were stable now, his help not as desperately needed. So he started on his way to Fi's nook. Her's was closer to his from the explosion, and the repairs hadn't much reached the interior. Boards were sticking up from the ramp, and her door was crooked, barely hanging on. He gave a little knock. "Fi? You there? It's Kaiden."

User ImageShe wasn't sure how she'd managed through the previous weeks, months, days, however long it had been. She may not have had an overly strong connection to her amazingly wonderful home, but it was her home no matter how she looked at it and that explosion had hurt her to her very core. Fi imagined it had hurt Laishidiel as deeply if not even deeper. She'd done what little she was capable of doing, as long as she had been able to.

When she was finally forced to retire for the nights, it had been to a room that had been damaged in the blast as well, but it's interior had been mostly left alone. Mostly. There were still some things that had been knocked around, but that wasn't of much concern to her. At the moment, she was sitting in there, weeping. While things had mostly returned to normal, the events that had taken place had managed to etch themselves into her mind. No matter what she forgot, she'd always remember what happened.

A hesitant knock sounded during the break between sobs. Shortly followed by someone checking on her. She didn't recognize the name, but if they knew where to look for her, surely they must know they were welcome inside. Right? But they didn't enter right away and Fi figured something was up. She sniffled a little, wiping her eyes on her skirt and getting up from her bed. Of course her cute skirt was ruined, but there was nothing she could do about it. With a deep breath, she closed her eyes and placed her hand on the crooked door. "C'mon in?" She called, hoping her voice sounded like she hadn't been bawling into her precious skirt only moments before. The peach colored woman opened the door, her eyes opening at the same time.

He thought he heard something inside when he got close to the door, but he dismissed it as imagining things. Until that is, she opened the door. Perhaps her voice had remained strong, but mere moments of self gathering couldn't banish the effects of sobbing. Her bright chestnut eyes were red, her cheeks puffy. Her hair and skirt disheveled.

She had been crying. "Fi!" He gasped in surprise. The pain he had internalized plagued her so strongly too? His features turned soft, sympathetic as he stepped forward to envelope her into a hug. "It's okay, you don't have to stop crying for me."

Fi took a moment to take in who was standing in her doorway. She had a vague sense of meeting him before, but couldn't recall who he was right away. In fact, she stood there almost frozen when he pulled her into a tight hug. But it felt so nice... Comforting in his arms she couldn't help but respond to it. Her arms wrapped around his chest, face buried into his fur. A soft hiccup escaped her lips as she stood there, hugging this half stranger.

"I'm sorry Kai... She mumbled, voice muffled through hiccups and another's fur. His name managed to trigger some memory though. A pair of pants, a friendship forged over a meal... Those pants...

As she returned the embrace, he held her closer, gently stroking her long emerald hair with a hand. "No need to apologize. I understand the pain." He whispered, letting her wet his fur. The thought of messing it up never crossed his mind once. "Everything's going to be alright though." Glancing up, he noticed thankfully the damage was only on the outside. If it had been trashed he had been considering offering up a spare bed in his own. Better still, she was unharmed. That thought sent a shot of relief through his body. During the blast, he was so afraid for her...yet he couldn't find her...

But she was okay. And that made him feel so much better.

Fi stifled a sob, squeezing him tight once more before pulling back just a little to look up at him. He was so sweet coming to comfort her right then. How long had it been since she'd seen him? A day or two, or had it been weeks? A full season? That much time surely couldn't have passed, could it?

"C-come in?" She asked, voice barely a whisper. That was from the crying, but the hesitance may have been a bit more than that. Thank Laishidiel he was unharmed after that blast. But could he have picked a worse time to show up? Her room looked almost as bad as their home did!

Such beautiful eyes. It was sad to see them filled with tears. He smiled back lightly at her and nodded, eager to get them inside and away from prying eyes. "I don't suppose you've gotten any work done on those pants." A light chuckle.

She waited until he was inside before closing the door. Pants... Oh! Those pants. With a blush, she wipe her eyes again on her skirt and started rifling through a pile of what had appeared to be clean laundry. There had been a lot of green, but there were a couple of cream colored things in there, and one of them happened to be the pair of pants she was looking for. "You mean these?" She offered, looking up at him.

She'd actually done quite a bit of work since the attack. At least, she thought she had. There were a lot more pieces that she was able to give out than there had been before. There was no way she could have made all of that in just a few days. It was really her only way of figuring out how much time had passed. She handed them over, and paused a moment. Deciding if she wanted to sit down somewhere or just curl up wherever he was sitting. First thing was first though, her skirt was soaked. Having wiped her eyes and caught many tears, it was worn and all but dripping. She repressed a sigh and carefully started undoing the knot on her hip holding the fabric up.

It was still rather a mess in here, though things had been shifted. His attention however moved to the pants she held, and he nodded with a smile as he took them from her. "These look like it! Did you fix the tail alriiii...t." He stared as she began...well...undressing in front of him. Never mind that most faun ran around in just their fur, she didn't and it revealed a bit more of her curvaceous figure. He blinked, hard, and swallowed.

She had just been crying. Don't make a move on her. Just been crying. Do not make a move. Abort thought process.

His silver eyes flashed down to the ground as he deeply blushed under his fur, trying to clear his mind. This was not the time nor place -well perhaps it was the place with her bed down the hall - to be thinking of such things!

Completely unfazed by the thought of running around in just her fur, Fi realized she couldn't walk around with her top but not her skirt. Maybe the other way around, but most certainly not a top with no bottom. At least, not that top and no bottom. It hadn't even occurred to her yet that Kaiden might not think the same thing of her getting out of wet clothing as she did.

In any case, she tossed her long hair to the side, pulling it to the front of one of her shoulders. Her back was turned to Kai as she reached up to start untying the strings that held her top together. But of course, they knotted. She glanced back, looking at him through her hair. "Kai, will you help me?"

He'd just stare at the floor until she was done. Modestly stare at the floor. No thoughts. No thoughts. She spoke and his eyes flicked up, her hands reached behind her on her coconut bra. It was obvious what she wanted. "Ah...Yes." His courteous nature wouldn't let him say anything but that. So he moved behind her, and started on the knot. His heart started thumping so loud in his chest, making his fingers twitch. So close. But he couldn't possibly think of Fi like this. Even with her head in his lap before...and the hug...and the undressing right now... "F-fi...are you...are you seeing anyone?"

She blushed, having forgotten what it was like to have anothers hands so close to her fur. Hugs were different, he was being a good friend. Right? There was no way he thought of her as anything but. If he did... Surely he would've been here to check on her sooner? Or was he busy with his grief in a way that was different from her own?

When he asked if she was seeing anyone... It gave her enough pause to stop and think. Was she? "Aren't... Aren't we together?" She asked, leaning against him gently once the knot was undone. Fi looked up at him, believing that they were seeing one another. Why else would he have come to check on her? She had few friends within the tree. So few in fact, she couldn't recall if anyone had been to make sure she was still alive outside of Kai.

Ohhhh Spirits. As the top fell away and she leaned against him, his hands glided over her to hold her from behind. T-together?! He blushed even more at the thought. "N-no. Not yet. I mean we just met the other day. Not that I wouldn't want to..." The last part slipped out of his mouth, and quite frankly surprised him. He had known Lira for much longer, and hadn't returned her feelings when she confessed to him. But here he was, holding a pae that could barely remember his name, and he was suggesting an actual relationship with her?

Then again, Lira had never had him undress her then press her body against his.

What if she was just vulnerable from the tree explosion and he was taking advantage of her right then and there? So many questions, his head hurt. With her memory being that of swiss cheese, he could've easily lied, said yes, and proceeded to do...well...kiss her. His mind couldn't process beyond that. But he wasn't that kind of faun. "The subject...hasn't come up until now." He would always be an honest faun, even if he could get away with otherwise.

They weren't together? Her face scrunched in confusion and concentration. Surely there had to be something to have made her think that... But then, it sounded very much like he wanted to be. Right? Was her imagination just running wild?

"Not yet... But you do want to be?" Fi shift a bit, looking up at him. She probably should have pulled away when he'd said they weren't, but he was comforting. Helping to soothe a wound that was torn open repeatedly and refused to heal. It occurred to her then, her memory was terrible. He could have just as easily said they were seeing one another and take advantage of that. Kai was a nice guy. "You're a really sweet man Kaiden." Fi smiled, meaning it.

Well that was a very direct question. He blushed deeper, silver eyes glancing away. "I...haven't really thought about it." But perhaps he should?

He never thought about anyone romantically before Fi, not even Lira. "I would..." But her amnesia. "But I wouldn't want to take advantage of you. Do you even really...remember me?" She said his name, his full name. Which meant that she remembered something about him. But how much did she really recall? Was he little more than a stranger?
