The ancient home world of the Sith, and the home of the Sith Academy.

Members of the Dark Council:
Darth Capulus: a Sith Eradicator with a white skull painted on his mask; head executioner of the Council.

Members of Staff:
Head librarian: Darth Armatus: A human, former Jedi-turned-Sith who trained under a Jedi-turned-Sith named Darth Trax. He is soft-spoken and kind, despite being a powerful Sith Lord.

The Furnace Room:
Teich, Bit, Krantz, and Luca, one shift of workers who work to keep the Furnace burning correctly. There is another shift of workers that serves the same purpose.

Sith Eradicators: 4 health, 4 stamina, and +4/+4 practitioners of any given style. They are the security forces of the Academy and wear black robes and masks.

~Locations~

A system of shuttles exists to carry you around to the various locations on Korriban. A Sith in training or member of the Academy has a pass to facilitate free travel, while others pay 10 credits per trip.

Academy Town: A town that exists some distance outside of the Academy grounds, which serves to supply goods and services to the Academy.

The Gardens: A large biodome that houses all manners of flora and fauna. It exists some distance away from the Academy, in the opposite direction of the Town.

~Activities~

Looking for things to do on the beautiful planet of Korriban? Well, here are some ideas:

Every day there are tomb looters attempting to harvest Sith artifacts from the thousands of tombs that litter Korriban. The Academy has a standing bounty for these looters. Bring the Academy the looter's comlinks (so the Academy can try to track down who they're working for) and they will pay fifty credits per head. Also, any interesting Sith Artifacts that you turn up can be donated to the Academy for a finder's fee. ((Make the job and whatever the final reward for the job is, that's how much your relic will be worth))

K'lor'slugs are vermin that inhabit a large number of tombs and caves on Korriban. They are horrible, fang-filled creatures who can swallow a man whole. Their teeth are used to make jewelry that sells fairly well on other worlds, if you're willing to kill the things. ((Kill rewards will be paid by the jeweler when you sell them the teeth))

Tired of that blunted vibroblade that the Academy doles out to every soon-to-be-dead initiate? Spruce up your armory with a real-life Sith Warblade! At the end of a mission through a Sith Tomb, you will typically find an armory. If you're lucky, there might be a Sith Warblade sitting there from the olden times. These ancient relics are energy weapons that deal full health damage instead of the paltry half health damage of a normal blunted vibroblade. Not only is it undeniably lethal, but just look at it: It's so fatally sexy that you can't help but be the envy of all the other initiates. Bonus: It's antique. So you get style points for using it. ((You must complete a mission worth 1000 credits to gain a Sith Warblade. Normal encounters include poison-traps, traps in general, ancient Sith warbots, tomb looters, K'lor'slugs, Tuk'ata, and even failed Sith Acolytes, hiding in the wastes instead of being executed for failing their trials. Do the Academy a favor and just go ahead and take care of that clerical oversight.))

Vyrtem Vayne was no ordinary Initiate. He had a sort of primal drive that urged him ever forward into self-destructive conflicts. That would explain his current predicament. Here he stood, facing two fellow Sith Initiates, and cautiously holding his vibrosword near his body, preparing for defense against the two opponents, who each held their swords somewhat forward, ready for attack. Here in the Sith Academy, the students were encouraged to exercise their instincts when selecting a style of combat, and most Initiates leaned toward the more aggressive styles, such as juyo or ataru, like his two opponents here. Vyrtem was not most Initiates. He focused instead on a somewhat unconventional combat style more often favored by... Jedi... He practiced soresu, and very rarely worried about attacking an opponent unless the time was perfect. He preferred the heat of battle, the crush of force and the clash of blade too much to end the fight so quickly as the more aggressive styles.

Vyrtem easily parried both attacks, and, in particular, blasted the sword of the ataru initiate away, suddenly switching his style to shii-cho to take advantage of the opening. He arced a broad slash through the battlefield, aiming to take his acrobatic opponent out of the fight. That flippy little b*****d was going to be the death of him. Vyrtem allowed himself to begin to disappear. To slowly become a spirit of war. An embodiment of destruction. A walking tank of slowly advancing, assured destruction. He began to cease to be Vyrtem and to become something... Less. Something more pure.

Vyrtem's attack did not connect with anything but metal. But did it ever connect. He had lost control of his strength, and bashed both of their blades so hard that they were thrown off balance. He eschewed defense in favor of attack and reversed his horizontal strike to come back at the two, aiming to punish them for their mistake. But not to kill them. It wasn't necessary. Theirs was not a fatal error, merely a punishable one. And punished it would be. His blade whistled as it split the air in a cruel arc toward the two opponents, slicing at their bellies.

He had missed his opportunity. The ataru brat sprang up and over him, landing behind the young Sith Initiate and forcing him back on the defensive. That was fine. He could wait. His blade whirled around his body to block behind his back and then traced a line to parry in front of him. He was being pulled in so many directions that the force was having to guide his hand. He trusted it. It had never betrayed him before. Focusing on the fire that the Force lit inside him, he would be protected. He would be powerful. Untouchable. His blade became a whirling, glimmering field of metal around his stationary body.

Sithspit! What was happening!? Vyrtem's blade was barely capable of tracing a line through the attacks that rained down upon him. The ataru initiate was whirling and dancing at a frenzied pace, and the juyo initiate was losing his cool. They pounded on Vyrtem's defenses until they were practically about to burst. But he did not give in. Even if he was barely managing to maintain a defensive wall, he was maintaining his defensive wall. He was not defeated yet. This battle had not even begun. He was merely biding his time until the moment was right. Waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The Force was not failing him. He was merely too impatient. His one true Master would present him with an opening when it was appropriate.

That small burst of coordinated effort seemed to drain the two of any semblance of defense. Vyrtem could have struck them down right then, but he had missed his moment. But he had seen the opening. In the midst of the flurry of blows that was raining down upon him, he was still conscious of the ebb and flow of the tide. He perceived himself as being in the eye of some sort of metal storm. He was reminded of his childhood. Alone in a case of shredded metal. The crash. Being the only fixed point as the world came crashing down upon him. His pulse quickened. His eyes saw nothing but red and his blade accelerated.

He had another opening. He had a powerful surge of momentum and lashed out in a wide circle, rotating entirely around his person to slash both in front and behind himself, aiming at cutting both of them at the chest level. It was a vicious attack, and, truthfully, he wasn't controlling himself quite as well as he could be. He might actually hurt these people. He didn't know. But he didn't particularly care. They were merely tools to further his education, and if they happened to be weeded out this early in their training, it could only strengthen the Empire. Vyrtem put all of his strength behind the strike, ignoring restraint in an effort to actually make contact.

He barely managed to scratch the chest of the juyo practitioner. He was frustrated, but managed to reign in his emotions to a seething boil rather than an uncontrollable flame. He grit his teeth and focused once again on his defense, aiming to become an untouchable object standing in the power of the Dark Side of the Force. He wanted to be a vanguard, a bastion of Force energy. A beacon of Dark Side power that could lead his fellow soldiers into glorious battle. He channeled that Darkness now, allowing it to flow through him and guide his every minute action. He would not be taken down, and, truthfully, these two had not seemed capable of breaching his defense, but he was not going to let his guard down now.

His concentration faltered, but so did everyone else's. His technique was sloppy. Clumsy. And yet it succeeded in protecting him. He was unaware what ripple in the Force had disrupted their combat, but it must have been a powerful force to disturb all of them so potently. He put it out of his head. The others were not likely to stop and ponder the momentary interruption in their combat, and thus he could not afford to do so either. He filed the thought away to ponder at a later time and continued to keep his blade spinning around his body, a hand's-breadth away from his own skin.

Vyrtem felt like he was on the precipice of some great accomplishment. Like he was standing at the edge of a cliff and preparing to step off. He continued his defensive onslaught. The juyo practitioner was building a frightful momentum, but the ataru initiate was tired. He was not flipping and flying anymore, instead rolling and hopping, his force powers having been drained by the bursts of speed and power he had been employing. Vyrtem had the advantage over the ataru boy. But this juyo initiate was a threat. He seemed to grow angrier and angrier as he fought, and Vyrtem found himself blocking more and more attacks from his front than the ones coming from behind.

The battle raged onward until the momentum shifted. He had found his moment again. Vyrtem spun rapidly, holding the ataru initiate on his sword before slashing across the chest of the juyo initiate, aiming to take both of them out of the fight at the same time. Maybe he'd get lucky. But his eyes traced across the juyo initiate's feet. They were crossed. He had gotten sloppy. He was off-balance. Vyrtem had the perfect opportunity. The fight could end right here, if they kept playing their cards this badly. Vyrtem smiled as he savored the thought of his victory. Let it come. He was more than ready.

Talk about underestimating your opponent. As Vyrtem bashed his blade against the other boy, he took a hard hit across his back. It knocked the wind out of him, but he wasn't done yet. He took the hit and roared, lashing out without regard to defense to strike both of them down and end this fight. He didn't care about strategy, he didn't care about fair play. He cared about hurting them. Making them pay for insulting him. Vyrtem saw red. He was an uncontrollable monster now, and he would not be stopped. All it would take is one more hit and at least the juyo initiate would be dealt with. Anyone who had the gall to strike Vyrtem's back needed to be taken out. This whelp did not deserve to breathe his air, let alone touch him.

Vyrtem was a monster. He lashed out blindly at their swords and managed to keep them at bay, but little else. His rage made him clumsy. Unfocused. He lost all composure and sense of style as he flailed with his blade like a wildman. A small crowd had gathered to watch the new arrivals practicing, and a few laughs broke out in the crowd as Vyrtem lost his cool. Among them were Sith Initiates and even Apprentices. One or two Darths was in the area, but they hadn't actually come over to watch the fight yet, though their eyes were drawn by the gathering crowd. Large crowds never ended well on the training grounds.

The ataru fighter struck him in the back, and both he and the juyo practitioner slammed their blades into each others' faces, crashing hard and sending each other to the ground. The crowd groaned and cheers broke out as they hit the ground. Vyrtem struggled, panting, to his feet as he leaned on his sword. He still had to beat this squirrely little ********. He held a shaking hand to the welt developing on his face and rotated his jaw to reseat it. He roared and charged the ataru fighter, giving no thought to strategy.
