Calder was curious about the Barth estate but was warned not to wander alone. The house was nothing like he ever was in before, and he was often stopping in the hallways to look at paintings, the carpet, the flowers that weren't as tasty as they looked, and even the shiny doorknobs. However, after a while, curious was starting to feel uncomfortable. He felt out of place and got in the way of the maids and butlers who would walk around him or 'ahem' as they rushed past him. Even though he wanted to understand how Barth (and maybe Zar) grew up, he felt too cooped up.

He needed air.

The grounds of the Mudd estate were massive and offered plenty of places for a white mare to stretch her legs without being watched from out the windows. Beyond the hedges and out of sight of the mansion, Calder rolled around in the grass, flaring his nostrils and breathing in the grass.

Zar was growing used to the society of other demons and the estate had grown less immediately threatening than it had been. Still, he did have to get out now and then simply because his natural form was too large to be securely used within the home itself and he was determined to retain his control of it. His very nature required that his true form be exercised like an unruly pet.

That day it was only by coincidence that he had decided to take his walk at the same time as Calder and as he cantered leisurely across the lawn he was oblivious to the kelpie until he was all but upon him.

He stopped dead, curiously engrossed by the equine, tongue flicking as the rest of him halted suddenly. "Oh." he said. "I did not mean to.. I.. I was simply out for a walk, you understand."

He wasn't sure why he felt like he had interrupted something private, even though the other boil simply seemed to be also stretching his....no. Her. Legs. It was a ghoul, a mare. Was it even Calder? He had not encountered this form often at all.

"Is that you?" he asked, finally inclining his head.

Rubbing her back, Calder had not been alert. Then again, she didn't really feel too threatened even on her back on a demon estate. If a demon did come over, she was far heavier, faster, and stronger than when she was pinned, and could stretch out without worry. That and she usually could hear better. If anything, she had hoped to possibly find where the horses of the estate were sent to pasture to race them or even frolic a bit. True, she wasn't a horse herself, but she shared respect and love for her cousins.

When Zar started to sputter, she expected to find the boil, unchanged, just taking a walk. Rolling over, she looked to see Zar was in his other form as well.

"Yeah. It's me." She said, shaking her head as bits of grass flew about. "Went out to stretch out. I can't run in the hallways. The servants got mad."

Smiling, she rolled back onto her back. "The grass is nice here. They take good care of their plants."

Giving a few rubs to her back against the ground, she watched Zar upside down. "Going for a run?"

Zar stared. That was the main thing he did. He tried to make it look like simply taking in the sights of the grounds. Calder was not normally female, he certainly was now, Zar could all but taste it on the air as he flicked his tongue. "Yes I.." he said distantly. "I could not stretch my legs indoors either, I have a great deal of energy and I have to vent it off via one means or another."

He sauntered over to the other boil slowly, tail curling behind him. "They do take good care of the place, most demons do, got to have something to make the relations jealous and so on." But his attention was not on the grass or the grounds.

"I was going to yes. Run...I mean. Forgive me for my rudenesss but aren't you normally a sssstallion?"

Calder rolled over to this, hair glistening under pumpkin sun as if recently wet even with bits of grass stuck to it. "Yeah. I am a stallion." He was confused as to why Zar would even bring that up, but then a moment he glanced behind him and then back to Zar and then around quickly, avoiding his gave before it peeked back up to Zar again. He probably had seen he didn't have anything and got weirded out.

He had to show it was perfectly normal and he was still the boil from before.

"I mean. That's my last change. When I got to be an adult is when I get to change that way. I was learning how to use it. My original form is this ever since I was a little colt." He supposed Zar didn't know enough about kelpies and went on.

"Kelpies lure with a shape that looks like a horse so we don't scare the humans. Sometimes some kelpies are stallions or mares first, then they get the other form to scare them. Just....depends, ya know? We switch a lot - one way or this."

Getting up, he shook his body free from head down to the tip of his tail before slowly walking around Zar. "That's....not weird to you, is it? I can change to a stallion if you want. I ...it's just easier for me this way. Comfy."

He kept his tail behind him and decided maybe not to weird Zar out, he'd just change anyways.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2015 6:34 pm

"No, no!" Zar interjected. "I was not saying to change or that there was anything negative about your present shape. I simply was not used to it is all." He waved a paw in what he hoped was a dismissive gesture, all talons, fur and paw pads. "I have primarily seen you in your darker form, which was markedly a stallion. It is strange only in so far as I am unfamiliar with it."

He took a deep breath, his nostrils flaring. "But it is certainly not bad in any fashion. Where it so, I should be in trouble given that I cannot cease to be both genders whether it offended creeple or no. No I should not ask you to change in any way from what you find comfortable."

He cleared his throat. "Perhapsss I ssshould go, on my way I mean. I did not wish...I did not ..for you to feel awkward in your present shape." Why couldn't he hold a simple conversation without sticking a hoof in it? Every single time he tried to speak to Calder he ruined it one way or another. "I was simply... It sssuits you?" he said.

"Um...thanks." She said, glancing at her chest and back as if to judge if this could even be true. She guessed that she had a nice coat and wasn't a tubby mare, which she was glad for.

"I just learned to change into a stallion when I met you. It's…still a bit hard – what with all my urges for things. I drove Barth up the wall all the time. It's relaxing to be in one I've always been in since I was little." She was glad Zar was not weirded out, and that she didn't have to change. "I get my coat from my mom. She's speckled like me too. My dad is whiter and gets gray patches in winter." She said idly, moving about Zar with a bit of a prance.

"I don't know what it would be like to be both genders. I've been one or the other only. A lot of clan members can shift in different ways, even from boils and ghouls in their different forms. Can you imagine?" She stopped in front of Zar and lowered her head, pawing the ground.

"Wanna play tag?"

"I was blind sided by a large portion of my own nature as you know when I simultaneously matured and was forced to face what I was, what I am." He looked away briefly, self consciously. "It kick started more latent aspects of my nature and of course, my gender." He wrinkled his nose distastefully. "I do not know who in my family I resemble. My father has these black blotches on his body, but nothing of my fur and form." He did grudgingly admire Calder and the ease with which he moved in this shape. The prancing slitted the demon's pupils down, holding his attention.

"It is frustrating." he said, softly and quietly. "It becomes very difficult to sate one side or the other. Though of course, that could be attributed to my nature also. Whatever the contributing factor, it is still a double edged sword if ever there was one"

As Calder bowed, he found himself lowering his heavy horned head and backing up a step, pawing the ground with a back hoof. It was not logical, but it was instinct, something that reached down past demonic composure and into something more primal. If he had not been otherwise distracted, he should have tried to butt heads with the other boil. As it was, he had little hope of catching the kelpie, he knew.

But it did not dissuade him from the desire to try.

Steely muscles coiled and he sprang forward, tossing his head back once again with a hiss as he cleared the grass at a bound, charging straight for Calder. He did not need to speak aloud his reply, his tail sprawling out behind him as he ran.

With a giddy whinny, Calder darted forward and started to race straight, looking back towards Zar for just a moment. Then, with a jump, she kicked out and changed direction, moving around in a circle to try and dodge the other and run the other direction. Tag wasn't about winning. It was about having fun.

"I still have lots of urges. Had a lot of ones that got me detention when I first got here. Still dealing with them too. If I can help, I'm here." She said before jumping three times just for the hell of it and trying to run again.

"Must be weird to have so many relatives. All of mine are kelpies. Don't know if my dad has different kinds of relatives. He doesn't know either, but he's not from a clan either."

"People make too much of a deal about boils and girls. I don't get it. I started out as really nothing until I decided I wanted to be a boil."

Zar pursued Calder as he pranced and dashed around, always keeping his head level like a snake, even while his body leapt and bounded, seeming to maintain a staggering degree of stabilisation through every footfall. He never took his eyes off the retreating rump and tail, leaping to snap his teeth close enough to lash Calder with his lolling tongue. But always he was one step behind and it was questionable if that distance was in some way deliberate, a subconscious effort to prolong the chase

"Urgesss." he said, gritting his teeth with a hiss. "Sssometimes it feels like urges are all that I am, that my hearts beat only to sustain the desires that run in my body and mind every moment." and he twisted again, all long sinuous grace, seeming that he might tie himself in knots yet never doing so, his tail like the nimble thread of a ribbon dancer.

"To heaven with my relatives." he hissed, baring his teeth, though not at Calder. "They can all go to the angels, there is not a worthy creature amongst them. I was constrained to living as a boil out of fear that my mother should dispose of me as a threat before I was grown. I prefer to be both, to have the best of every world."

And he leapt himself, rearing and raising his head in a distinctly goatish manner, butting at nothing but the air where Calder had been, recovering mid-stride only to pursue him further. "I feel there isss much to be sssaid for your feminine traits."

She let out another whinny as she saw Zar jump up and butt the air, finding his nature infectious in letting loose. She delighted in seeing Zar just run around and let go of all that tension he seemed to constantly carry on his shoulders, and it was one of those moments she felt happier to help assist him in that way. So often she felt Zar hated himself for having traits that seemed more like a monster, and yet right now, he said JACK IT to it all and just let himself run around and do what he pleased.

It might not have been very demon-like, but it felt more Zar-like.

"Urges and Instincts aren't all bad, Zar." She called out, kicking out behind her and hoping once more before kicking up a clump of dirt and running around a shrub trimmed in the shape of a gargoyle and then leaping over a stone bench.

"My clan couldn't stand me because of me dad. Couldn't be sure if I was pure kelpie or not. I bet they still want to kill me now for leaving them and my fiance." Just because of what she was, the clan despised her and she knew that now. She knew she would never be good enough for them, but she also knew that her Lead had wanted her to strengthen the bloodlines even if they weren't' sure if her's was pure or not. She missed the idea of having a big clan and fitting at last with them, but now she could look ahead to having a family that she could love and would love her back.

She let out another equine laugh. "I don’t have much for feminine traits. I'd feel the same as a stallion if I was in this form the other way." The body was nice to be comfortable and run around and didn't have the same urges to tear things apart as his stallion form. Other than that, it was just a mare by name and concept. Nothing was really all that different. "I'm the same as when I'm not like this."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2015 8:21 pm

"You may not mark the differences." he said. "But they are there, even if only on the outside." And he could not help but find them riveting, drawn out of his normal huffy frigidity into what could only be described as downright showing off, every step calculated yet effortless, demonstrating the sinewy yet sleek strength of his long body and the way what loose flesh he had swung decisively below him.

"And oh they are, they are terrible, heinousss, deplorable thingsss. You would never say that if you could see the things I thought about, if you could get so much as a sniff of what I'd like to do." and he laughed, a clicking rattle of a laugh as he trotted around Calder with his head thrown back once, his talons flashing before he leapt clean over the bench himself.

"Essentially the losses are theirs, not yours. You owe nothing to anyone who is not yourself." he smirked in a way that showed all of his black gums.

"And you owe me lessss than nothing. I do not know why you tolerate me, I am always so cruel to you. Perhaps part of it is that as a boil and as a stallion you smell like a threat." and he flicked his tongue. "But like this you smell simply delightful."

While Zar had hooves and had the general height and shape of a kelpie, he was far too different. His body curls and arched in a fine line from nostrils to tail tip, a wave of muscle that slid through the air. While his goat-ish appearance often made him think of a stronger stallion with the added benefit of horns, there was something else that often left him apprehensive and on guard, the part that came from his more venomous side. All curling tail muscle and unlatching jaw.

For now, he felt relatively safe, giddy in their shared playful frolicking and just enjoying time outside the copped up confinement of the mansion and out in the open air and trimmed grass.

Yet further remarks on his outward appearance had him faltering in his steps, not wanting to take into account the differences his mare form had compared to a stallion in similar form. If he had been a male in this way, he would look relatively the same. There were just – small differences. Differences that never really mattered as he had only ever been around his parents before. Differences that, due to his anatomy, he never really got to see and neither had a desire to.

His eyes went Zar's underside, where he shared both the elongated male parts and the curved female parts, and for a brief moment, as Calder slowed down, he glanced at the space between his hind legs and considered how….small they might seem to a boil. But….but it didn't matter. It wasn't like he was using any of that anyways. This was all for show, all for appearance, and nothing more.

Yet he hadn't noticed that anther boil would notice these things, but then again, he hadn't been around any boils like this. Most students he met in this form wanted to pet him or asked for a ride. Usually most weren't in natural forms and didn’t notice much about him if they were. So why Zar?

"Is it…too strong?" He asked, worried about his smell now. If he wasn't a threat, was he just weak now?

Stopping in his play, he pawed at the grass, suddenly derailed form the urge to jump about. "I'm still a boil you know. A boil and…ya know." It was just part of his kind to be both. He just didn't think too much about it. It never really was a topic to come up and he never pushed himself hard to think about it. "It's all just parts." He grumbled before kicking off again as if to jump away from the topic.

'I tolerate you cause I like you." She said, continuing on and looking around for another obstacle to play with before heading over down the way to a fountain of a spitting cat and deciding to race around and around it.

PostPosted: Mon Mar 02, 2015 8:43 am

Unable to properly touch Calder, Zar was at a loss what to make of the brief falter, wondering what could have been going through the other boil's mind. "No, it should be unnoticeable to most." And he curved around the plant life to halt before the kelpie as he stopped. "It is simply not invisible tome."

"I make no contention as to what you are. I term myself a boil in spite of what my shape might well say otherwise, there is no doubt in me that all shapes are simply malleable and as you say "just parts"." And he leapt after him once more, chasing around and around, but realising even as he did so that he wished to lash out with his tail and seize Calder to make him stop, to bring him to heel as they went around and around.

"But that does not negate the appeal of such parts. It does not negate the appeal of every facet of what you are. You like me?" he said in polite surprise before deciding to stop dead, to let Calder run right into him on his next charge around the fountain.

"You have such terrible tastes, you know."

Calder faltered once more, wishing there wasn’t this topic right about now. “I decided I wanted to be a boil when I was growing up. It just fit better than the other.” Though that wasn’t to say he felt tied to anything masculine or feminine. His kind prided many aspects of both. As a monster, completion, strength and protection were key values for his herd. As a kelpie, beauty, seduction, and the management of one’s body were necessary to thrive and skills passed down from generation to the next. “My kind takes so much from both, switches so much from both, that it’s not a big deal thing to talk about.” Though they also didn’t focus on things about gender that he only had the vaguest impressions what the other side entailed. His mother had been so strong, his father dainty and yet they shared so much of each other in different forms as they changed.

But he was a boil with boils so it didn’t matter. He never had a girlfriend, hadn’t explored their parts of his other. Then again, out of reach, out of sight, out of mid – and it had been for a long time.

He was lost in thought when he skidded to a halt but still collided with the other boil.
