What does your soquili leave as an offering for the wishing star? A fist sized rock, slightly reddish, that looks vaguely like a skull.
Short IC Response: Zahavah set the rock in front of the wishing star alter. Earlier that morning, Pavlov had stumbled across a pile of rocks, with this one on top, and had freaked out. He’d cried about a skeleton army. Rather than reassuring him that it was just a bunch of rocks, Zahavah had charged the pile and dispersed them within minutes. She had never really been the coddling type, and her method had calmed him down and dispelled his hallucination. Plus it was more fun, so it was all good. She had kept the skull stone, though, because she had like the look of it. Besides, the last time she had done this, she had offered up a string of teeth she had taken as prizes from her previous brawls. It didn’t matter to her that the rocks had just been rocks. She had beat down Pavlov’s hallucination and protected him, and this skull, as she preferred to think of it, was her reward.

“It’s me again,” she told the star with a cheeky grin. “I don’t know if you heard me when I thanked you before. I think Pav said thanks too, but… eh, might as well again, right? So, thanks for our girls. They’re perfect! We raised them together, me and Pav. But they’re grown now and off terrorizing the world on their own. Addy seems like she’s got herself her own little Pav. It’s adorable. Akis has taken to the sea. I think she’s considering the life of a pirate. I couldn’t be prouder of them! We both love them, Pav and me… But… Okay, so I know this is gonna sound greedy when you’ve already given us two such beautiful girls. And I don’t want you to think I don’t love them. I do. We both do. But they’re grown now. They’re off adventuring and maybe even looking to start their own families. Grandkids would be awesome, sure, but… well… Pav’s been stressing out like you wouldn’t believe. He’s jumpier than ever. I think he’s worrying about them. Empty nest syndrome or something. And… I’ll admit, I miss them too. I’m happy they’re off living their lives, but… I do miss having little ones under hoof. So… yeah…” she nudged the skull a bit so that it sat a bit straighter. “I know Pav would love to have more kids. More little girls or sons…. It dosen’t matter to us. It’d just be awesome to have our family grow some more.”

She considered saying more but decided she had babbled on enough.

It had been a few days since Zahavah had left her offering for the star, who she had silently dubbed Astrid. She wasn't sure why she thought of the wishing star as female. Maybe because it had a great deal of taste and responsibility, and gifted life, as only a female could do. Astrid... just seemed to suit the glittering speak in the sky. But now, a few days later, she wasn't certain if she had pushed her luck.

It was with this thought in mind that she woke up that morning and spotted proof that her beloved Astrid had not abandoned her. Two beautiful little baskets waited for her and Pavlov. Tiny little baskets... Minis! She grinned to herself and almost gave an uncharacteristic squeal. Best. Presents. EVER!

Pavlov, sensing his mate stirring, blinked his eyes awake and froze as the sight before him came clearly into focus. He squinted for a moment, willing his brain to make the connection between what his eyes were telling him and what his brain was saying. Throughout his life he had done this several times trying to convince both his brains and his eyes that, NO, that horrible creature slithering around his leg was Not in fact real or Nope, that's no sea monster, sea monsters don't exist and all sorts of things of that nature. This thing wasn't of that nature....this thing was a completely different nature. A usually not so bad nature but... "Uh, Zah?" he whispered. "Um, Zah, do you see what I see?"

Zahavah rolled her eyes, amused at the question. "I usually don't, Pav," she told him, affectionately. She stood, careful not to whack him with her horns or tail. Then, because she was never certain what Pav did or didn't see, she added, "I'll tell you what I see, though. I see two mini baskets! A little black one and a little orange one... I wonder if they'll be two little girls again... or maybe we'll have boys this time! Wouldn't that be great? You want a son, don't you?" Stallions always wanted sons, didn't they? She didn't care. She nuzzled the basket that took after her in coloring. They were hers and Pavs. That was all that mattered to her.

"How...wait, what?" he asked tilting his head. "What...when.....where did these come from?" he finally managed to ask. The really did look like the pair of them, a mini like him and a mini like Zahavah. They were sweet in their likenesses. But... "Didn't the star already give us baskets?" Could they be so lucky twice in a row?

"She did," Zahavah confirmed. "I talked to Astrid a couple days ago. Told her all about how well the girls grew up, and how they were doing. And I mentioned how quiet it's been around here, since they left. And she gave us these!"

"Wait...you what?" he blinked again still completely confused. "I- uh, who's Astrid?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2015 3:48 pm

"Oh, you know Astrid," Zahavah smiled humoringly at him. "The wishing star? Astrid."

Pavlov blinked, "...You named the wishing star?"
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2015 5:13 pm

"Well... yeah... she's as good as part of the family at this point," Zahavah said, surprised that he seemed to find this idea surprising. "After all, without her, we wouldn't even have Akis or Addy. Or these two precious cuties." She moved to the black basket to nuzzle it as well. The baskets hadn't even popped yet, but she was already concerned with neither of them feeling that the other was more loved.

"Well, yes, you do have a point there..." Pavlov said slowly. He could at least follow that much. However he was still somewhat amazed that they had been blessed with not one pair but two pairs of baskets. For a pair that wasn't supposed to be able to have children, they were becoming...well, almost an impressive family. Pavlov leaned down and nuzzled the little orange basket in Zahavah's absence. And these two were sooooo small. He was concerned. He worried enough for Adalind and Akis these days and they were both full grown (and to be completely honest they were both somewhat intimidating - they didn't get that from him) but these two were going to be so small. He knew that Zahavah could take care of herself, but these babies could end up like him and he just didn't know what to do with them...do for them...if that was the case. He would have to hope that they would take after their mother.

She beamed at him, pleased that Pavlov seemed to be handling this surprise so well. There had been no doubt in her mind that he would be happy to see their family grow. She had, however, been a little concerned that he might freak out more at the sight of them. "Maybe we'll have little boys this time," she said, happily.

"Maybe..." Pavlov said slowly. He was still focused on the safety of the little foals regardless of gender. "I suppose it could only be that or more girls..." he reasoned.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 06, 2015 4:12 pm

"Yep," she agreed. "It'll either be two little boys, or two little girls. Or a little boy and a little girl. Don't look so down," she chided gently when she noticed his focused expression. "You'll do great. We did a good job with Akis and Addy. And we'll do even better with these two, because we won't be as unprepared. That's why parents have older children. So they don't make the same mistakes with the younger ones."

Pavlov willed the frightened look to ease from his face with mixed results. "Well, it sounds like you're saying we'll make new mistakes this time around?" he asked quietly. He still worried about his older daughters regardless. Not that they seemed particularly prone to trouble but...he was still concerned.
