Things moved pretty quickly after the incident with the Orderite raiders. Now in possession of a new ship, there wasn't much of a reason to stay in Soudul anymore. The apprentice was eager to get out and see the rest of Magesc, and she knew Naita would be eager to get out on the ocean. For a firani khehora, she certainly had an affinity for the ocean, but Eba wasn't one to question. If it's what she loved, then it was what she loved.
The pair of them had set sail a few days after obtaining the ship. Their ill-gotten gains, unfortunately, weren't in the best of shape. Parts of the ship leaked a little bit, and it definitely needed some tender-loving care, but the ship was theirs. That was all that mattered, ultimately. Although she didn't expect to be overly fond of it, Ebalia found herself enjoying being on the boat. It was a nice change of pace from Obsidian City, and the spray of the ocean from the waves was a nice sensation to feel on her face. She could get used to life on a ship, and such thoughts would make Naita overjoyed, without question.
On that particular day, Eba sat near the helm of the boat with the khehora egg the two of them had found in her lap. All she was doing was relaxing when something caught her attention. The egg was starting to wriggle and cracks were starting to form on the shell. It was hatching! "NAITA," she yelled, not even bothering to keep quiet. They were out on the ocean now, and that meant she could be as loud as she wanted. Besides, this sort of situation called for it. "NAITA! IT'S HATCHING!"

Naita would have just been happy with having the ship. But the villagers had been kind enough to help them set the ship up with supplies and get it into the water, and Naita was... well... very much at home. It was a decently sized vessel, and it needed some work (and a serious name change) and Naita couldn't work the ropes very well with her claws, but this was exactly what she had always wanted, even when she hadn't known it. The air was perfect, the sky beautiful, and once she and Naita had figured out how to work the various parts of the ship, the movement was glorious. Everything was perfect. The world was open to her – it was their oyster. With this ship, something of the Stormwinds could come back. Most of all, though, Naita was just glad she wasn't alone. Not anymore. She peered out to see at the landmass of Soldul, its coast passing languidly by in the distant horizon, and reveled in it. This was the life. Naita's head snapped, serpentlike, in the direction of Ebalia's voice, suddenly intent on where the Oblivionite sat, at the helm of the boat. ”What?!” she hissed, looming over Ebalia... And indeed it was. Naita watched as the first chunk of shell flew off of the egg, clattering to the ground below. ”Stars n' tides...” she cursed softly, arranging herself into a more protective pose almost instinctively. Her wings arched around Ebalia and her egg, blocking them from the harmless winds and spray. ”The lil' un is on it's way.” Another shell fragment. ”And he ain't wastin' time, neither!” she said, chuckling. But her gaze was fixed on Ebalia now, studying her. Now was the moment of truth. The last chance. ”Ye still... want 'im as yer bonded?” Naita asked, quietly.

Was she seriously asking?
What sort of question was that?
Of course, she did!
"Of course," she exclaimed, all but bursting with excitement over the hatching Khehora egg. Her response was probably one that Naita didn't want to hear, but what choice did she have in the matter? Even if she would have said no, the little guy probably would have ended up bonding to one of them, anyway, regardless of if they wanted it to or not. But Ebalia's stance on the matter had not changed. She would be helping this way, as far as she was concerned. The little khehora had no family now, and someone needed to take care of it, so why not her? She didn't have a family, either; not really, so the match was fitting, in her mind.
As she said this, the last few cracks in the speckled egg form, and the orakoi inside broke free. Just like his shell, he had white scales with purple speckled markings and a gray underbelly. His eyes were also gray to match, and a glowing swirl marking decorated his left horn. Awww -- what a cutie! Ebalia fell in love instantly, and helped to brush away the shell bits and egg fluid from the baby. The orakoi, likewise, took to the apprentice instantly as well. With a flutter of his wings and a quiet chirrup, he snuggled into the girl's arms and settled in.
Hatching from his shell had clearly taken a lot out of him, and now it was clear that he wanted to rest.
"Oh, he's perfect, Naita! Just perfect!

”Mmm...” Naita rumbled. There was honestly nothing she could do about it, though: the little guy was out – a speckled and pale little thing that looked up at Ebalia with cute little grey eyes. Well, there. You made your choice. Naita thought to herself, not a little jealously, as the newborn made itself thoroughly comfortable in Ebalia's arms. He'd had plenty of time to not be born into the bond, and Naita had given him plenty of encouragement, but no. He'd decided to hatch right in Ebalia's arms. And that was that. He was a Bonded. Ebalia had just taken most of his magic, and he would have to deal with it. Naita had done her part. She'd given him a chance to be a feral like herself. And it wasn't Naita's problem anymore. ”Aye.” she said, before stalking off. She was only gone a moment before she returned with a blanket from the hold, dragging it along in her jaws as carefully as she could, the woolen cloth trailing behind her. She dropped it by Ebalia and began to tuck it around the new pair. ”Since ye won't be moving anytime soon.” she quipped as she set it up just right, inspecting it with a cocked head before nodding in satisfaction, ”I'll get th' ship on track” by steering with her claws, obviously.

Ebalia didn't respond verbally to her khehora companion.
She just nodded her head in response and hugged the new member of their family close to her. It was strange how quickly she formed an attachment to the little guy. Oblivionites weren't an overly affectionate or caring race of people. The apprentice had never heard "I love yous," or received any hugs as she grew up. Yet seeing the newly hatched khehora -- well, it was different. The pair of them had bonded instantly, and she knew that she made the right decision to keep him with her, rather than part with the egg itself.
"Welcome to the family, Hiyuu..." she quietly murmured, having decided on a name.
Hiyuu.
It was a simple name, but it had a nice sound to it, like a gentle breeze of wind.
Ebalia, Naita, and Hiyuu.
She couldn't have asked for a better family.
