Esmeralda figured Minerva was currently mulling over the fact that she’d brought someone who didn’t want to fight along. The Dovaa could not blame her, but this was supposed to be mother daughter bonding time and they shouldn’t be fighting. It was bound to happen though; she should have seen it coming. They needed this; Esme was not going to let this kind of thing grow a gap between them. She was going to figure out a way to fix this, she was the smarter and older one here. Her experience could help her, granted her own mother had never had this problem.

How did she make it up to her daughter when the other’s goal was to be hunting dragons? The thought perplexed the Peisio and even woke her up the next working much earlier than her daughter. Perhaps a breakfast would be the answer to fixing things? Esmeralda got to work and it wasn’t before long that Minerva was poking her nose through her tent trying to get a whiff of what the older Dovaa was making. It got Minerva up bright an early though and soon Esme was handing her a nice slab of meat with some eggs and veggies.

Minerva grabbed the bowl from her mother and sat herself down and began to eat. She couldn’t’ really stay mad at her mother for too long, Esme was far too nice for her to be for too long. They did some small talk for a bit before the older Dovaa’s intentions became clear.

“I think I’m going to be staying in camp for a bit.” Minerva nodded, they’d been on a losing streak and it was best if she left the fighting to the battler of the group.

“That’s fine; I’m going to be heading out in a bit. I’ll be back for lunch so you won’t be alone all day.”

Esmeralda nodded and continued to eat her meal.

“I’ll make lunch then.” Minerva was about to protest but Esme shook her head. “Really, I won’t have anything else to do while you’re gone and it would be criminal if I at least didn’t feed you,” Then the Dovaa chuckled. “I am your mother and it is my duty to feed you whether you like it or not.” That seemed to close the argument for good, Esme also planned on making dinner as well. If she wasn’t participating in the battling than she was going to be useful elsewhere. Minerva might want to protest but she couldn’t stop her even if she tried.

“I’ll be back in a few hours then.” Minerva got up and handed the plate back to her mother before stretching and making her way out of their small encampment. Her eyes scanned the horizon for anything that moved and found her target. She couldn’t tell the size from her vantage point so Minerva set off. By the time she’d made it close enough to gauge its size she knew this opponent wouldn’t go down so easily. She also knew it had spotted her from the way it moved and that she’d lost her moment of surprise. Ah well, she had lunch to make she had to make this quick.

It was hard watching Minerva go on but it was for the best. Esmeralda gathered the dishes and went to get them cleaned up, then she checked their supplies and decided on what they would be having for lunch. It wouldn’t take long to make so she was going to wait for Minerva to get back to keep it fresh. In the meantime, Esmeralda looked around camp and wondered what to do. She grabbed up their dirty laundry and did the laundry in the nearby river. Once that was done, Esmeralda was still left standing around waiting for Minerva to get back.

Throwing a few spells at the Kinadri did nothing; it was faster than her and caught her off guard. They seemed to be evenly matched until finally the Kinadri seemed to be done with Minerva and walked away from the fight. Perhaps if Minerva hadn’t been so tired she would have fought on but her stomach protested and called her to go home. Turning around Minerva began the dead walk back home to have lunch with her mother. It would be obvious that she’d fought and had returned empty handed. Hopefully Esme wouldn’t ask what had happened, she didn’t want to explain another failure.

The Peisio spotted Minerva’s silhouette and began to get lunch ready. When Minerva arrived, clearly bumped out from her encounter with a dragon, Esme handed her food.

“I did the dished and some laundry. How’d your hunt go?”

“Not bad.” But it wasn’t good either. Esme could tell that much, but she wasn’t going to prod her further on the subject.

“I was thinking of catching something for dinner and roasting it.” Minerva nodded and Esmeralda nodded too. She knew Minerva had to learn on her own how to hunt properly, she’d given her all the tools to succeed now she just needed to use them.
