It wasn't her turn on the stage yet, but it would be soon enough. Until then, she had taken up helping the servers, bringing customers their drinks and food as they enjoyed the show. Some of her favorite coworkers were in that night, both dancers and the less risque performers, and everything was going amazing.
She hadn't expected to see a familiar face, though, as she'd finished taking someone their order. Wasn't that...oh!
"Silas! Fancy seeing you here." She'd actually been thinking about getting in touch with him, see how he was doing after the snafu that had been the New Year's Eve ball. "How have you been?"

Silas needed new friends, or at least to do something about a certain bespectacled troll who had attempted to gaslight him with a pumpkin. Said bespectacled troll had directed Silas to go to this particular establishment, saying that the food was decent but the real draw was- "get this"- a burlesque show. Honestly, he wasn't even sure why he caved in and went to this place in the first place. Was a burlesque show really worth whatever goofy surprise his friend had planned for him? Yeah, it probably was. It'd be a nice change of pace. Hearing his name called, Silas looked in the direction and locked eyes with a familiar face. "Hey, Kaida!" That's right, he remembered this girl from the New Year's Eve disaster. They were just about geared up for a dance (probably?) before he passed out, then she passed out, and then he shoved a note with his number on it in her hand when he came to. He still thought that was a tacky move on his part, but given the situation, it made sense. Sort of. "How have I been...? All over the place. That's the best way to describe it. How about you? I take it you got out of the hotel okay? Sorry for just plunking my number in your hand, by the way. It seemed like a good idea at the time."

Kaida chuckled, shaking her head. "It's fine. That night was really crazy. I'm just glad I got out of it in one piece." The lecture she'd gotten from Yuki afterwards, geez. She loved her friend, but he was a little too wary of public gatherings the last couple of years. [Not that...she really blamed him. They did seem a bit cursed...]
"All over? Hopefully it wasn't all work or obligations." It would be a shame if it was. He seemed nice, and the sort who needed some fun to balance out the not-so-fun. "I've been okay. Had a new responsibility pop up recently, but nothing I can't handle. Otherwise, life's pretty much the same as always. School, work, friends and family."

"Crazy is one word for it. I'm surprised anyone got out without a mark. The fighting got really bad in a whole bunch of places. I heard that some people were even kidnapped." Of course, Silas knew for sure that people were kidnapped, but a little disguising needed to be done for the sake of making the world stay sane. "It was work and obligations. I basically kept bouncing from school to work to some other things and back. It wasn't all bad, though. I've got some good friends who help me out. One of them even told me to come here." Perhaps that troll would escape a smack upside the head for tonight. The mention of a new responsibility seemed like an interesting avenue to pursue. "A new responsibility? Mind if I ask what it is?"

"It...really was horrible." She shook her head, sighing. She remembered what Kells had told her about it..."I hope nothing like that happens again." She'd do what she could to help prevent it, too. And then conversation took a less depressing turn, something she rather appreciated.
"Ah. Good friends make a world of difference." She giggled. "I've got two I live with who help keep me afloat when it gets tough." What she'd do without Yuki or Matt, she had no idea. "I suppose it's something like a neighborhood watch. It's rather complicated to explain, I'm afraid." Kaida's smile turned sheepish in apology.

"It really does, doesn't it? Granted, the friend who referred me here is kind of a troll, but he's still good. He tried to gaslight me with a mysterious stalker pumpkin back in October, if that gives you any indication of what he's capable of." Silas had kept that pumpkin before accidentally smashing it one not-very-sober night. His friend had "called" the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Pumpkins and held a funeral. It was very touching. In any case, the mention of a neighborhood watch caught Silas's attention. It was a bit curious that she couldn't give him the details, but he wasn't really going to press. "A neighborhood watch, huh? I do a little neighborhood watching myself. It's kind of a volunteer thing." The allusion that slipped out of his mouth there made him wonder if Kaida was hiding something similar, but it wasn't like he could just ask her if she was a senshi or a Knight.

"Well that wasn't very nice. I do hope it turned out funny in the end?" She knew that sometimes, not everything was quite as it sounded. All the shenanigans Matt and Yuki got into were a good case in point. The mention of a neighborhood watch on Silas's end as well caught her attention and curiosity.
"Oh! That's good. It's always nice to help make sure your neighborhood doesn't get ransacked. Especially nowadays." Even before her awakening, she'd known something was going on. It was hard not to, with the news and the things trending on Twitter and Tumblr...

"Yeah, it was funny until the pumpkin met an untimely end. We had to hold a funeral for it. It was very touching." Silas knew better than to take anything that friend did too seriously; there was at least a kernel of humor in all of his shenanigans. He nodded at the mention of neighborhoods getting ransacked. "Yep. It's impossible to tell what could happen at any given time, so you have to be vigilant, or next thing you know every car on the street is either egged or on fire. Or at least all the car alarms are going off at once at 3 AM. That's the worst." If he had a nickel for every time a car alarm went off at some dumb hour on the DCU campus, he would have some decent spending money.

Kaida actually winced at the mention of car alarms. "That is the worst. Especially when people have the modded car alarms, or the ones that just send that same chill down your spine as nails on a chalkboard." She still wanted to strangle her moirail when he mentioned the experiment he and Yuki did that set that chain of events off. She took a deep breath, to avoid getting too annoyed. And felt a wave of embarrassment.
"Ah, I'll be right back. I need to relay an order, then I can take my break if you wanted to keep talking."

"There is no 'especially.' They're all terrible," Silas said with a chuckle. Then Kaida made him remember: oh, right, she was on the job. "Oh, right! Go right ahead, do what you need to do. I'll probably be here for a little bit. I want to see at least one of the acts before I go home." Since the burlesque show had been his friend's selling point, he wasn't going to leave without at least checking it out. He didn't think he'd be disappointed, really.

"It won't take me long. And the next show actually starts in a minute. I'll be back!" She made her way to drop a couple of things off in the kitchen, hearing the music start up for one of the burlesque dancers as she did so. If she remembered the music right...it was Red Devine doing her cowgirl routine. By the end of the routine, Kaida had finished up and made a note she was taking her break.
The blonde took up a chair near Silas, letting out a sigh of relief to be off her feet for a little. "Enjoy the show?"

Silas wasn't quite sure what he was expecting. Maybe he was expecting something a little tackier (he didn't trust his friend's taste all of the time), but honestly, he was actually entertained by the performance. When Kaida came up beside him, it pulled him back to reality. "Yeah," he said with a nod. "That was pretty good! It had good movement to it, if that makes sense. Good energy." Okay, so that kind of sidestepped the point of a burlesque act, but that would be another matter. "What other kinds of performances are there here?"

Kaida nodded, chuckling. "It does! That's one of the best parts about burlesque dances; the energy, the way it isn't just...taking your clothes off." It was an art, and it was fun, and it was a performance! "Other acts? Well, I know we've got a couple of comedy routines scheduled for tonight. And we're trying out a magician. See if she's good and sticks around." They had had some bad luck with magic acts, which rather made her sad. They were so much fun to watch and help with!

"Exactly. It's a dance, not just stripping." It still felt a little weird sidestepping certain points of a burlesque, but it wasn't that much of a problem. "Comedy routines and a magician... sounds like a good time. Maybe I'll stick around a bit longer and see them. I could use a laugh." Knight life was undoubtedly stressful at times, and enjoying the simple civilian things was refreshing.

"Bingo." Kaida winked and tapped her nose with a finger. "It's a show, not just wiggling around in a way you hope is naughty-looking." She giggled, then reached over to pat his shoulder. "Laughing is one of the ways our body relieves stress. So if you think you could use it, you probably need it. And hey, this is a good club for stress-relief. The staff is friendly, and most of our patrons are sweethearts, or good conversation. It's a good place to be social, relax, and just enjoy a show."Sami-Fire We can probably start wrapping this one up!
