Personality:
Akane is a quite and blithe character who can be quite chatty when she wants to be. Though she will usually do what she can to avoid having to encounter other people, if she does she is capable of being a 'light of the party' should she feel like this.
Her amiable character, never mind her good looks, makes her very attractive, though her eccentricities and the sharp comments she drops here and these, added to her dark and pretty gruesome sense of humour (albeit always speaking with impeccable and musical tones) makes her a very strange person, indeed.
Her sharper comments usually drop when someone is careless enough to intrude upon her when she's sleeping or simply in no mood to deal with humans. She will not be attacking, but she can be rather mean.
She does carry a lot of manipulative and Machiavellian traits as well, not above pulling tricks to get her wants, whatever that may be at the given time.
That said, she can be infinitely patient with people if she sees that they deserve this treatment; kind and accommodating to those and only those she respects.

History:
Born into the Nara household, Reika was a bit of a black sheep as she never excelled in the puzzles and games that were typical Nara Clan specialties for mind training, making many think that though Nara in name, she was not much more than a pretty face.
This made the young Reika feel rejected and belittled so she found refuge from these trying antics of her well-meaning family in the family library, often hiding away for hours in order to avoid having to turn up for Shouji and other, extra-curriculum lessons which she loathed and bored her to tears. At first her father was adamant in making her, but then left her to her own devices, making a rift between them unintentionally.
Seeing that she was left, apparently, in favour of her more Nara-like siblings, Reika's feelings of inadequacy and isolation grew and she made a very sour and angry teenager who show a lot of aggression towards others, once more deepening the distance between her and others.
Fearing for the emotional well-being of his daughter, Reika's father sent her to distant relatives in the Hidden Sand, hoping a new situation and a new start would help her 'find herself', yet again only adding to the problem. It was here after a loud argument about this that Reika finally understood that while her father truly was an amazingly clever man, he was also rather stupid when it came to his own daughter and her needs. Giving in, she left Konoha for the Hidden Sands, hoping for a new start.
It was there that Reika found her jounin teacher and became a fully fledged genin. It was also here that Reika began to separate herself completely from her family, never using her family name to introduce herself. Often people would have not the faintest idea that she was of the Nara Clan until she was forced to use her Kageton. This, however, often meant that she was at a disadvantage in battle as she never used the jutsu that came most naturally to her, making her more depended and efficient in the other ninjutsu that she had to rely on. At first, her teacher rebuked her, but then saw that she was only adding to her repertoire and, again, Reika was left to her own devices.
In a letter to her father, Reika's jounin teacher once reported:
"...though truly not the typical shinobi that one might expect of your Clan, she is by no means someone to discount. ...perhaps her intelligence is not one that is for the sort of menials mental tasks that you, for example, enjoy, but she has a quick, sharp intelligence that she has no trouble at all using against an opponent, tricking them and snaring them. ...she may look like a dainty Nara deer, but she's more akin to a sly vixen after her prey, precise, single-minded and determined when there's game afoot. ...quick to decide what she wants and knows exactly how to get at it. ...I think those who think she was easy prey would do better to think again...She may not be your typical Nara, but she's obviously your blood nonetheless, just a rarer strain..."
After gaining repute and distinction in the Hidden Sands and becoming a chuunin, Reika returned to Konoha to her family where is now feels less isolated. Continuing her career in the Hidden Leaf, Reika was, at first, wondered at as being not only a lovely person to look at, but also one of very strange habits, such as never wearing shoes, no matter what the weather might be like. If asked about this she will simply shrug away the question or, if pressed simply answer by saying: "Can't be bothered. Can't you stop annoying me please. It's rather tiring."
Finding herself once more feeling like she belonged to her own Clan and blood, Reika had the symbol of her Clan tattooed upon her on the small of her back. With this, she has also decided to become a jounin teacher as she feels she would like to help others avoid having to go through what she did to find her own self and not almost be lost in the colours of her Clan.
Traumas: Reika deeply fears water that is higher than her knees. She cannot swim and fears drowning.
