Standing against the back drop of the hall of shadows Ate couldn't help but marvel at the immense gateway into the rift's heart. Beyond this corridor was a world barely touched by human hands, a living, breathing destiny of corruption and chaos. Ate stroked the crumbling stone frame that separated her from the darkness, her eyes never leaving the dark passage way as she stood far enough away to be out of its reach. She knew she couldnt pass through the hall without an escort, an annoying and almost insulting problem that she had to deal with every time she wanted to explore. Usually she would gain the help of a Lt, someone who she could easily convince in to helping her out. With or without their permission if it came to it. She would force them down the hall past the eyes of a thousand lost souls until she could step out into the rift where the secrets to her future were surely held. At least this time she didn't have to beat anyone into coming with her, no, if fact the Captain she had spoken with seemed more than happy to accompany her and she was now stood in the pre-discussed meeting place.
She had no real plan at the moment, only that she wanted to find something that would help the Negaverse, which in turn would help prove herself to the Goddess that was Metalia. After the dreams of the future and meeting with Alkaid it was all the corrupt senshi could think about and here was a chance for her to really find something. The fact she had someone to help her was even better. A shame it was a Captain rather than one of her kind but she could hardly be picky about the help she needed, it was sadly a necessary price to get her work done. A flickering light came from down the hall as she watched a dark shadow press itself against the glass walls, a shuddering moan escaping from its jaws as another dark guardian came to inspect her aura and display its hate towards her. She flicked her middle finger up at it before turning around to the approaching footsteps she heard, her voice echoing in the empty hall.
"Those things...are ******** creepy..."

Astrophyllite had not spent a terribly great amount of time in the rift, but between Avalon and Natron's instruction, she'd been there enough times that she could figure out where to go. This room was a good deal deeper than she'd ever been before - and she understood that they would be going even further. There were so many youma here, pressing themselves against the windows - or she supposed they must be youma. What else could they be? She didn't know what this place was. She'd never been here before. She did not think the youma would harm her, but she held her club a little tighter and breathed a sigh of relieve when she sensed an approaching senshi. Ate was beautiful, her aura curling bright green at the edges and sizzling with energy, rolling like smoke, coating her path with a fine layer of ash and a hint of ozone that lingered long after she passed. Astrophyllite smiled at her, and resisted the urge to curtsey as one would to a princess... or a queen. There was only one queen, and that was Metallia. And I am perfect and pure in her service, thought Astrophyllite desperately, clinging to the words she no longer found to be true. Surely Ate would sense her disloyalty. "They're sad," said Astrophyllite, in response to Ate's proclamation. She'd had a long while to consider the creatures behind the glass, to try to understand them. It was like staring into the void, and yet... "They don't understand what's happened to them. They don't understand why either of us are here. You shouldn't be rude to them - this is their home, not ours."

Quirking a manicure eyebrow Ate stared across at the approaching Captain as if she had just sprouted gibberish and was expecting her to agree with it. Shaking her head she quickly filled in all the features she had forgotten about Astrophyllite, the soft pink hair that reminded the corrupt of candy floss, the innocent face with the large eyes and even bigger teeth that Ate found surprisingly cute on her. She didn't tell her any of that of course but Ate had a somewhat soft spot for the Captain that occasional showed a back bone at strange times, like now for instance. Ate was of course older, both in years and experience but she couldn't help smirking as Astrophyllite looked in on the faceless apparitions behind the wall and tried to in vision what the girl had seen in them.
"Doesnt stop them from being ******** creepy Astrophyllite" She muttered as she pushed away from the wall and the shadows began screaming again as she sauntered into their field of vision. "But your wrong about one thing, about this being their home. I see it more of an prison that they can never escape from." Smiling at that thought she gave a little nod of respect towards Astropyllite as she walked to her side. "But your right Captain, dont piss off the hosts is damn good advice to live by."
Laughing she quickly invaded Astrophyllite's personal bubble, placing her hand on the nearest shoulder and began gently steering the girl towards the opening of the hall, ignoring any sign of protest from the Captain as she did so.
"But enough talk of eternally damned souls. I cant tell you how happy I am that you came to help me in this little...errand were running. You remembered to keep it a secret now, didn't you?" Although Ate voice was friendly there was a trace of a threat laced into her words and her grip tightened ever so slightly. This trip they were doing wasn't exactly supported by the General-Queen and Ate didn't want anyone interrupting them as they made their journey into the unknown. Plus if Astrophyllite happened to go missing in the rift it was always best that no one else knew about it.

Astrophyllite turned away from the windows, but she couldn't take her attention away from the unfortunate creatures beyond. How had they gotten that way, she wondered, and would the same thing happen to her if anyone found out what kind of terrible thoughts lurked in her head? If the wrong person overheard her desire to be purified, to be good? "They live here," she said quietly. "That makes it their place. Their home. Even if you wouldn't call it that." But it did not usually pay to contradict those who outranked you, and she bit her tongue to keep from saying more. Eternally damned, thought Astrophyllite darkly. That's what they'll make you!"I haven't told anyone," said Astrophyllite, allowing herself to be steered and grateful for the change of subject. At least she could stop pondering what kind of fate awaited traitors now! "Cross my heart and hope to die." And she went to Catholic school, so you could be sure she was serious. Astrophyllite glanced around - was it just her imagination, or was the dim hall getting even darker? "So... can you tell me where we're going now?" she asked, trying to keep her tone bright.

Ate shrugged as Astrophyllite continued to defend the creatures, it wasn't her place to slap some sense into the girl who looked eager to treat them with respect and kindness, they were soulless pathetic wastes of life caught up in the power that was Beryl. Just as long as they didn't grab her and suck her into that void the pitiful things could do what they wished as long as they didnt come near her.
"Pfft we shall agree to disagree my dear, but at least you have done something right in not telling anyone at least..." She uttered a little more friendly than she had previously. Ate had yet to pick up on the internal turmoil that was running ramped inside Astrophyllite, maybe if she had taken the time to actually look at the girl and speak to her it might have been different but right now all Ate saw in the pink haired captain was a meat shield between her and the shadows.
"Ha, eager are we? Well since you were so kind to join me I thought we would go...exploring. You know like an adventure? Sounds totally fun right?" There was no mistaking the sarcasm that rolled off her tongue but she gave Astrophyllite no chance to respond before she was talking again, each sentence edged with a push in the back to move her forward down the hall.
"I am seeking something important...I uhh, dont need you to know the details of what it is of course...." Which wasn't skirting around the truth since even Ate didnt know what she was searching for, but Astrophyllite didnt need to know that part. "...but its of great value. I need you to be on the look out for anything with a large chaotic pull, you will feel it deep in your bones, it will hurt and it will pull you towards it seeking your energy. As soon as that happens I want you to alert me. The rift can....effect people differently, I might not get the same reaction as you do and I do not want to miss a thing. Plus, you ******** Youma everywhere."Silverah You can have them emerge into the rift if you want in the next post or SAte will keep on edging her to the end of the hall XD

Astrophyllite had a feeling that Ate wasn't being totally straight with her, because people weren't usually so happy about things that they had previously expressed utter contempt for. She knew that she had a marked weakness for sarcasm - but that didn't mean she wouldn't know it when it stared her down. "No," she said. "We should be careful. We're trespassing and if we don't respect them, they won't respect us." That was just good manners, right? They crossed into the Rift, and Astrophyllite felt a cool wind whoosh through her bones, and the turmoil inside her quieted. The darkness here called to her darkness, in the way she'd felt the first night she'd ever closed her eyes and reached with fumbling mental fingers to find and feel Bischofite. Kind called to kind. "How deep do you think it will be?" she asked Ate, looking ahead. The path here was clear, and she had a sense that they should stick to it. If they went much further, though, surely it would become rougher and more dangerous. She thought she could see youma moving just beyond the edges of the road. Ate had expressed much distaste for the creatures, but as far as Astrophyllite understood, they were supposed to obey officers. She wore a captain's medal of service, she reminded herself. They meant her no harm. "Why do you hate the youma so much?" she asked, following the senshi closely. She remembered Avalon's youma, how she'd been a girl Astrophyllite's age before she was a youma. Where was Shay now, she wondered. "They deserve our pity, not our scorn."

Ate had stopped listening to Astrophyllite's self righteousness about 5 minutes back. It would probably cause her dearly in the future but sadly Ate was filled with her own egotistical righteousness and didnt heed the girls warning anymore than a ant beneath her shoe. She just continued to gently guide her until the rift swallowed them, the steady pounding of its heart echoing in her head and the crisp feel of the chaos embracing her home. She hated that to get her she was forced to bring someone along, her hatred for the hall of shadows well documented for keeping her out and even worse were the youma that rejected her even more fiercely. Even with chaos tainting her soul they still saw her as a Senshi of the Moon and there was only one way she was ever going to fix that.
She caught her mind drifting with possibilities before being brought back to the present with the last few words of Astrophyllite's sentence and proceeded to walk around to be in front of the girl, her eyes rolling as she did.
"Hate is such a strong word, I just dislike them greatly is all." Ate stated as if that was explanation enough before realizing the conversation wouldnt end at just that. Huffing out her frustration she flung her arm out to point to a large lumbering beast in the far distance, her eyes pulling into glare as she watched its slow progress. "That beast there would rather listen to you than me? Dont you find that ridiculous? I am an Eternal Senshi in Metalia's ranks and call it wounded pride if you must but as I feel i deserve more respect from these abominations. They are stupid and serve only one purpose. They are glorified weapons to be used and then tossed away when they finish serving that purpose. They are nothing to me except a hazard I have to look out for, nothing more, nothing less."
She turned back to face Astrophyllite, her eyes no longer angry but resigned. "Satisfied my little candy floss? I can't explain it any more than that." She shrugged again before turning to the west, away from the figure of the youma that began tearing at the ground in a sudden fit of hysteria.
"To answer you other question...i think we will have to go off the beaten path. This area is well searched and holds nothing of value. If we are to find anything good we need to go where others have yet to set foot." She looked back round to make sure the Captain was still listening and coked her head slight, her eyes questioning. "You...You havent change your mind have you?"

Astrophyllite looked out towards the creature Ate indicated, brow crinkling in thought. "You could become a stone," she said, after a moment of trying to figure out how Ate could better devote herself to the Negaverse. "Avalon kept the name of her wonder, but Quartz gave his up. Your name sets you apart." But there was more to it than that, wasn't there? And then... and then she had a thought, about something she could do to this not-very-nice senshi and it was cruel but it would be what Ate deserved, wouldn't it? "Avalon was going to give her Wonder over to Chaos," she continued, "Metalia was going to reward her for that, maybe even make her a General-Queen. You have a planet, don't you? Maybe... maybe you could give Metalia that." Avalon's wonder had killed her, she thought. Maybe - maybe Ate's planet would do the same. She felt strangely at peace with this thought - it must have been the darkness of the rift. They are stupid and serve only one purpose. They are glorified weapons to be used and then tossed away when they finish serving that purpose. You're wrong though, thought Astrophyllite, but she turned away from the youma to follow Ate. She didn't think that she liked this senshi at all, but bit her tongue - playing the good little officer would win her freedom from suspicion until she could figure out how to make her escape. But why would you ever want to leave here? "No," she said, clenching her fists. "I haven't changed my mind. What are we looking for, so I'll know in case I find it?" (Why was it that she had a sneaking suspicion that even Ate didn't know?)

Ate stared for a moment longer at the Captain, trying to read any hidden messages behind her reassurance that she hadn't changed her mind. It wasn't that she feared being left here, but if Astrophyllite was to leave so would she. Not out of solidarity but if Astrophyllite left Ate would not be able to return through the hall of shadows without an escort. Ate didn't know if Astrophyllite knew she technically held the upper hand in this relationship of theirs but she wasn't about to enlighten her on that fact.
Nodding she motioned for the captain to follow, her eyes flitting back and forth across the landscape as if the thing she sought would be just on the horizon. Her mind filtering the statements and questions Astrophyllite had asked.
"Pfft, a Senshi having a mineral name is pointless. We are senshi, Metalia's senshi and we have names. Those that choose not to find out their birthright are just hiding from themselves behind the Negaverse. We are not Captains or Agents, we are completely different and to pretend otherwise is pathetic." She said this while side stepping around a mound of rubble and what looked like decaying bone embedded in the ground. Every so often clusters of crystals would spike out of the dead earth blocking them and leading them down different paths. The landscape was a mixture of flat barren land before twisting into hills and mountains and then suddenly changing again. It was not a place to get lost in but Ate walked like she knew where she was going but the reality was far from it.
She nearly gasped as Astrophyllite mentioned giving up her planet. Having met Alkaid that was exactly what she had to do to become ascended. Astrophyllite may have meant it as an insult or a way to get Ate killed but she hit the nail on the head on what she needed to do. Ate was impressed by the suggestion, even if it wasn't Astrophyllite's goal to come across as knowledgeable on Corrupted Senshi Ate was happily surprised.
"Ha, Astrophyllite, you surprise me. That sounds like a marvelous plan, I may just do that." She threw the girl a wink before turning round a corner, her voice shouting out as she continued the conversation out of sight. "And I told you! Were looking for a significant chaotic....thing. Just keep your eyes open and your aura senses tingling and we'll find it am sure its got to be around here somwheEEUAAAH!" Ate's scream echoed off the crystals out of sight quickly followed by a string of profanity that would make a good man turn bad.
"What the! Scared the F@!$&'ing s**t out of me! For f@*ks sake! YOU HORRIBLE F?%^@'ING THING!"
The scene before Astrophyllite was one of Ate on her backside, a 6ft lumbering Youma standing before her growling menacingly as she screamed back at it. Her feet pushed her back until she was closer to the Captains legs, her eyes wide as she tried to calm her erratic heart beat.
"The horrible thing jumped out at me! Dust it before it comes any closer!" It may have been strange to see the powerful Senshi frightened but seriously, the thing had jumped out at her.Silverah I nearly forgot what you wanted Astro to do XD

Astrophyllite had the distinct feeling that her suggestion had just backfired. Atë's wink and the surety in her voice just went to confirm it - Avalon's wonder might have killed her, but the senshi knew something that she didn't when it came to forking planets over to Chaos. Even if Atë sounded pleased with her, she had a feeling in her spine like listening to nails on a chalkboard. (She and Trixilite would be two of a kind, she thought uncomfortably.) Before she could mull more over what mess her suggestion might have gotten her into, the senshi screamed from ahead of her. Astrophyllite's heart caught in her throat. Maybe - maybe she could arrive just a little too late. Maybe she could let the senshi be killed by a youma. It would serve her right! She didn't think that anyone knew what they were doing down here. Maybe... maybe they weren't even supposed to be doing it. Maybe she'd be rewarded for stopping Atë from carrying out whatever dastardly plan she'd been enlisted into! But then her conscience won out, and she took off running towards the scream. The youma was huge, only slightly taller than Astrophyllite but easily four times as wide as her. She couldn't place its features - maybe it was a little bearlike? But those horns were anything but bearlike, and those scales... She knew it had been a person once, most youma had been, but... Avalon had been abundantly clear about what happened to Negaversers that dusted youma. Even here in the rift, the rules still applied. Maybe even especially here - you couldn't just walk into someone else's house and kill them. That was rude! She stared the youma down, looking for any suggestion of human intelligence in its eyes. She didn't find one - but even alien things could be reasoned with. (Probably.) (She hoped.) Swallowing hard, Astrophyllite said, "Excuse us, sir. We're sorry for getting in your way." The Youma continued to growl. Astrophyllite bit her lip, then reached into the pocket of her coat, where she knew for certain she'd left an energy sphere. It was most of next week's quota - but she could always make it up later. She pulled some energy off of it as if it were cotton candy, balled it up, and held it out to the Youma. "Please," she said, "Take this. As compensation for your troubles." The Youma quieted. And then, peculiarly, it leaned out and ate the energy right out of Astrophyllite's hand. She smiled, amazed at her own boldness. "We'll just be on our way now, sir," she said, curtseying. "And you should be on yours." The Youma turned and lumbered off. Astrophyllite offered a hand to Atë. "You surprised him," she said. "That was all. I couldn't dust him just for being surprised."

Ate couldnt believe what she was seeing right now. a husking drooling beast was mere inches away from her and here Astrophyllite was playing tea parties with it. She watched as the girl tore of a lump of her energy. Energy that was rightfully Metalia's and unceremonious hand it to a sniveling creature instead. Ate felt dam sure that if she was feel her hair right now it would be alight with the burning rage she felt corsing though her body. As the Youma turned and stumbled away Ate pushed herself up, ignoring the generous hand offered to her, if anything it took all her power not to slap it away and then continue in slapping Astrophyllite. Glaring at the Captain she clenched and unclenched her hands, her knuckles turning white with the stress of being pulled taunt.
"Dont. You. Ever. Ignore. A. Direct. Order. Again. Girl." Her face was a picture of unmasked fury, her once elegant features now scrunched up into a scowl of pure hatred. She didnt want to hurt this Captain but she would if she had too. "I told you to dust it, not give it a snack! I question the very logic that even made you a Captain in this order! How the hell do you even survive out there!" It was ridiculous to believe this girl had managed to live for as long as she did. If Ate want to get herself even more worked up she could imagine this girl actually talking to the enemy to "work things out".
"Next time I say something do it! Understand? Or did you want to break out in song now and call all the ******** Youma to our side?" Shouting was hardly any better and with great control Ate lowered her voice before resuming her temple rubbing. She didn't hint at the fact that she was the one who had fallen and needed help, all her mind was on was the insubordination of this young girl. Another reason why she would never trust the Agents more than her brethren.
"Ok. This was a minor set back. Lets just...carry on. We will be out of the area known to us soon and hopefully we will start to see something useful." She turned her back on Astrophyllite, her face only just starting to lose its red coloring. Silverah We can have them walk for a bit if you want, but if you want your gal to start sensing something then by all means <333

Astrophyllite stared at Atë, her back rigid, fighting the instinct to cower before her. You're not the boss of me, she thought, and it thrilled her because it was true. Atë outranked her, true, but she was not her commanding officer. Astrophyllite had not been requisitioned like some rented weapon. She was here of her own volition and, furthermore, they were out of bounds. Anything that happened here would fall squarely on Atë's shoulders - she could be sure of it. It would be so easy to say that the senshi had lead her astray. "Of course," she said. "I'm sorry for my poor judgment. Let's keep going." They resumed walking, and Astrophyllite couldn't help but sneak glances off the road, looking for the youma lurking there. She could befriend them, she thought. Control them, even - wasn't that the privilege of being a captain? Maybe she could be rid of this terrible senshi before they found whatever they were looking for and do everyone a favor. Stop, she thought. That's terrible. But so is she.She could sense something huge and strange and powerful up ahead, darkness roiling like a bubbling cauldron, but beyond that Astrophyllite could scarcely make out any details. Perhaps - perhaps this was the object of Atë's quest. Maybe it would be like the ark of the covenant and burn her face off. Resolving to walk behind the senshi, Astrophyllite paused and said, "I feel something." She pointed. "That way."

Ate was starting to feel the nervousness of unknown territory creep down her back. She had only even viewed this area from afar and even then she did it with her back against a wall and an escape route planned. She wasn't frightened of the rift, there was little that could actually frighten her (jumping youma excluded) but this place was untamed and no matter how much she thought Metalia may protect her if something bad happened she also knew she was probably thinking too highly of herself all the same. She saw the rift as a test and only by exploring it was a person truly put to trial in Metalia's army. Not that she was enjoying the moments of stumbling past huge crystals of pure chaos and hearing the screams of hidden youma all around her. She would never admit it but just having someone, anyone by her side right now was a blessing. Even if it was a Captain who liked to feed the animals.
Ate was just about to start climbing over a rocky outpost when Astrophyllite caught her attention. She hadn't really fancied trying to climb in these heels and this skin tight skirt but at least she knew it would repair itself when she powered down if she had to rip the hell out of it. The thought of powering down though was something she preferred not to do now a days. Everyday life held no sway for her and seemed so trifle compared to the power she could possibly hold. So when Astrophyllite spoke it sent a ripple of excitement though her body. She hadn't sensed what the girl had but then again she had been keeping her eyes open for youma and not what she had originally came in here for. With difficultly she pushed herself off the rock and slid back down to level terrain.
"You did? Where?" The excitement ran though her voice as she followed the line of sight from Astrophyllite's finger. It was pointed towards the side of a what looked like a crumbling mountain, what ever had pushed its way through had been big. Very big. Her face pulled into a state of confusion as she ran towards it, her hands touching the gravel as she searched for what Astrophyllite's has found. But all she saw was rocks and dirt, no runes or symbols drawn anywhere, no device sticking out like Excalibur's sword. Nothing. She turned back, her confusion quickly replaced with anger as she eyed the Captain.
"Do you think this is funny? There is nothing here! Show me, show me where you feel its coming from! Now!" Her anger made her snatch out at her, her long nails catching the girl's uniform and pulling her towards the dilapidated mountain her push less gentle than it was at the start of this journey as the eagerness to find something, anything, clawed at her mind.
"Show me! SHOW ME!"

Astrophyllite watched Atë warily, half hoping the senshi would stray too far from the path and meet some terrible fate. Unfortunately, she spoke too soon, and she came rushing back, perhaps more manic for the announcement. Wait. Definitely more manic. She pointed again, a little bit more insistent. "Of course it's not right here. It's up ahead." But reading body language was clearly not one of Atë's strong points, she thought disdainfully as the senshi pushed her along, nails clenched tight in her jacket. "It's not going anywhere!" said Astrophyllite, stepping a little quicker. Atë didn't even know what they were looking for, she thought. She was just using Astrophyllite as a dowsing rod, like she might lead her to gold, or treasure, or something. She hoped, with every fiber of her being, that a horde of youma would appear out of the darkness and carry Atë away screaming, like Professor Umbridge with the centaurs. Before that could happen (and she was sure it was about to), however, something loomed out of the darkness before them. There was no doubt in Astrophyllite's mind that this was the source of the roiling Chaos. "It's a door," she said, perhaps obviously, although she wasn't completely certain that it actually was one. It had eyes. She was certain it was looking at them, that it could see them with some kind of great intelligence. She had a very bad feeling about what might happen if they tried to open it. "Someone chained it shut on purpose," she said, clenching her fists to keep from squirming too much. "We - we should respect that." (She had a feeling that Atë was not going to respect that at all.)

If Atë's eyes could roll right off her head they would have been down by her knees at Astrophyllite's answer. She didn't want a general idea of where she had felt the power. She was the exact frigging spot and the fact the Captain had the gall to point out that where Atë had looked wasn't the right place had the Senshi seething.
"I dont care if it isnt going anywhere! The fact that we have been stumbling down in this place for far to long exceeds the need to waste time pinpointing what you feel. Girl you will show me where it is exactly!"
Atë didn't have to push the Captain twice as she led her past the spot she had been searching around and towards a split in the mountains surface, the opening to a large cave slowly separating itself from the rocky terrain. It was then and only then that Atë started to feel the pounding thread of Chaos in her ears, the vibrant taint of chaotic energy prickling down her skin. How she had not felt this before was impossible to image but as soon as the darkness enveloped them as they walked though the entrance came the eerie green and purple light beckoning for them to come closer.
It was magnificent.
The massive door was easily four times her height, the handles came to shoulder level and was indeed clasped tight with chains. The eyes although stationary seemed to emit a presence, like it was watching them, waiting to see what would happen. The whole thing was humming with chaos, fit to burst and just groaning ti be released. Atë could sense that above everything. It wanted to be opened. It needed to be opened.
"Oh...my" Atë uttered the words as if she was speaking to a new lover, her hand reaching out to the light as it started ebbing brighter as if sensing her getting closer. Did she catch a twitch from the ever staring pupils? She couldn't tell but her mouth was dry and her heart was skipping beats.
"Yes....yes! This. This is what I have been searching for. Astro, Astro my dear you've found it." She gave a half-arsed attempt to lift her arm towards the Captain in gratitude, her attention focused fully on the door that stood before her.
"How long have you been here? Waiting for us to find you? What secrets do you keep hmm? Alone for so long..." With her mumblings it was only with half an ear did she hear Astrophyllite comment on not opening the door and her eyes flashed wide with rage before closing slowly, a sigh escaping from her lips.
"Sweetie, I have not traipsed across this hell hole to not open the very thing we have sought. This. This is better than I hoped for and I will not turn my back to it now." She turned on the girl quickly, her eyes murderous in then contempt for the Captain.
"And I will chain you here to watch me do that if you even think for a second of leaving."
