Lyle found himself floating at the edge of the Forbidden Forest thoroughly by accident. As exciting as it had been to discover he possessed the ability to go intangible with little more than a thought, the act itself was debilitatingly tiring, and piling on additional exhaustion after spending a half an hour swimming through chocolate and several hours before that kissing things had proven to be too much for him. It was all he could do to remain upright and moving. The direction he went was less of a concern, which was how he had ended up here.

The portal was soothing in its way, despite the fact that it closely resembled a peanut. He wondered if its supposed aura had something to do with the ominous forest that loomed behind it, but he didn't wonder for long. He was too tired to wonder. It would have been so easy to turn toward the ghost dorms, to enter his darkened, barren room and rest, but he had already learned so much today. It chafed his laziness to keep moving, but he yearned to learn even more.

The boil touched his feet back to the ground with a light clang and scrubbed a hand across his cheeks and jaw. He loosened his hair and ran his fingers through that too, then retied it and got in line to enter the golden portal.

While it was true that none of these portals had led to locales he'd expected in the slightest, Lyle could admit to himself that dropping in on a candlelit dinner between a pair of bears was not even on his list of possibilities for life situations in general, let alone something that could happen in here. It didn't help that he needed a nap. The boil simply stood and stared, failing to notice the kitchen door for quite some time.

When he did, its existence hardly helped him at all. Surprisingly, he had already ascertained that it was food they wanted during his unintentional spying, but he didn't know the first thing about cooking... didn't know, if the uneasiness crawling in his gut at the thought was any indication. He peered into the darkness one final time before sighing and heading toward the light.

Inside, Lyle was surprised to find nothing of use... well, nothing save for a heap of chocolate, a slightly smaller heap of rainbow sprinkles, two bottles of champagne, and a smattering of pans, utensils, and dishware. He smelled coffee but couldn't find it, though the odor alone rejuvenated him a little on its own. He hoped the stupid bears liked chocolate because he was obviously meant to serve them some.

He chose a pot with little fanfare—not too shallow, not too deep—and dumped in a heap of chocolate without hesitation. He turned the flame on high, clumsily dropping the pot onto the burner. Lyle winced. "Sorry, sorry," he muttered to no one. It seemed unlikely that the bears would come in here if he made too much noise, but he had no way of knowing whether or not that was true.

Lyle split his attention between the door and the pot as the chocolate melted, and he was quick to retrieve a pair of mugs as it did, pouring an equal measure of the stuff into each. He placed them on a tray before dumping a copious amount of sprinkles in as well and readying another two cups, these filled with champagne. Careful not to spill anything, he shuffled out to the table, placing it carefully between the bears.

They were slow to react, turning their heads this way and that as they eyed his presentation. Eventually the white one nodded, picking up one of the mugs and stuffing it into its mouth.

Something sizzled behind him and, guessing it was a portal, Lyle slowly backed into it, keeping his eyes on the bears the whole time.
