“You know, I could help you find the Kiandri much easier if you’d asked me.” Emeralda gave Minerva and innocent look which was returned with a face. The Dovaa lifted her hands up in the air. “I’m just saying is all.” Her daughter wanted to do everything on her own, she understood that. She’d gotten that from her mother after all, Esme remembered she was just like that young but for other reasons. One day she was going to have to move on from her past. She couldn’t keep living there, Minerva would have her own children one day and she was going to have to be there for them too. She also had to visit her own family; she’d left behind the Celestial Plane except when she was required to be there… Still, life was hard. So hard sometimes because she kept living in the past. She needed to move past that. Which was primarily why Esmeralda had decided to go on a hunting trip with Minerva. She never went out hunting except when she’s been an apprentice. She wanted to be a new person, a happier person and she believed she needed to experience even the things that she didn’t enjoy.
“You ready to go?” Esme nodded and Minerva got up. The sun wasn’t as hot as before now but they still needed to find one more target. She had no idea where to start. “Okay, you can lead the way.” As much as she hated to admit it, her mother was a far better tracker than she was. Esmeralda set the pace and Minerva followed next to her, listening to her mother teach her some of her knowledge as they tracked down a Kiandri. When Esme stopped and pointed, Minerva glanced and smiled. Up ahead of them was a Kiandri, Minnie advanced on it.
Esmeralda was sure that there was only a single Kiandri in the area, so when Minerva looked back Esme waved at her to keep on going. She only wanted to watch, she didn’t want to get involved more than she had to. Considering the dragons size she believed it wasn’t that much of a threat and she would not need to intervene at any point during what she thought was going to be a short lived battle. Still, she was a mother and kept her eye on her daughter from afar. She was so proud of her daughter, sometimes she felt like having more children but…
Minerva sneaked up on the Dragon and threw some magic at it. It roared in pain and turned on her throwing a lightning strike her way. The Hyrbid easily dodged and sent her own lightning strike towards the Kiandri. It struck and weakened the dragon considerably. It roared in anger at her again but could not get up again. Minerva approached it, ready to move if it tried to hit her once more but it did not. She finished the dragon off with ease and watched as it dissipated and left behind a nice glowing orb. Smiling, Minerva bent to grab it and returned towards her mother.
“Easy.” Esmeralda put her arm around Minerva’s shoulder when she got back to their area. Minerva nodded and put an arm around her mother’s waist to lean on her. Ah children… Maybe, just maybe she ought to have more. Minerva had turned out to be perfect if she said so herself, and maybe children would be good for her. Keep her mind busy. But children were not made alone it meant she had to put herself out there again, it meant putting Ekundayo behind forever. Was she ready for that? Maybe, but for now she didn’t want to think on it too hard.
“I’m happy you came mom.” Minerva said as she looked at the Kiandri orb in her free hand. She twirled it. “You know I don’t know why we haven’t done this kind of thing before. It’s great mother and daughter bonding.” Esmeralda chuckled and Minerva smiled. She liked seeing her mother happy; maybe she would take her mother out for hunts more often. It certainly looked like she was having some fun and helped to keep her quite busy too. Or at least away from her stupid island and work. Her mother wasn’t too old for this kind of thing and Minerva could use the help tracking.
“I’m happy I came too.” As happy as one could be from her stand point since hunting Dragons had never been her thing. But it was time to try and see new things and Esmeralda was trying. “Well, you know I’ve been busy with my master status and all that fun stuff that comes with it. I am open to the idea of doing this more often, that way I can keep my eye on you.” Minerva made a sound and Esmeralda chuckled. “I love you, you know that?” She squeezed her daughter and gave her a kiss, only releasing her when Minerva began to struggle.
