Amytis knew she needed to get out more, but well, it was hard to want to when she wasn't even sure she wanted to be doing this at all. She wanted to be curled up at home with her fiancee and her dog and a fuzzy blanket and some hot cocoa, not out in the cold.
But there were people she hadn't seen for a long time - since before she had recovered her memories of that terrible future world, or even earlier. And she had to find them, all of them, and make sure they were still okay and still real - because she needed that.
So when she saw a flash of bright colors, purple and blue-green and gold, accompanied by a Dark Mirror Eternal aura, she jogged towards it.
"Remarque! Remarque, is that you?"

Remarque was not a fan of the cold, but he had been out because he felt like he had an obligation to be. He wasn't exactly hiding, but neither was he going out of his way to find anyone. There was a Dark Mirror aura on the edge of his radar, but in the time it took him to debate whether or not he should seek it out, he heard someone calling his name.
"Would it be anyone else?" he prompted, even before he turned; he knew he had a very distinct appearance, even from behind.
He should have recognized Amytis' voice, and seemed a bit surprised (pleasantly so) to see her out.
"...Amytis," he greeted. "Aren't you cold in that? Put on a jacket."

"Uhm," Amytis looked a little embarrassed. No, it was not particularly likely to be anyone but Remarque, which made her question sort of a silly one for certain.
"Well! Yes, I am definitely kind of cold," she admitted, "and I meant to grab an extra jacket but when I was leaving the house I just sort of...forgot." Sure, she could have powered down, taken off her jacket, powered up, and put it back on, but that seemed like a lot of effort and bouncing on her toas and rubbing her arms was serving alright to keep her warm. Even if themetal of her bracers was particularly cold. "How have you been? Chariko and I got engaged a few months ago, it was really great." It came out a little rambly, like she thought the faster she talked, the quicker she would warm up.
It definitely did not work that way.

Remarque hadn't had any sort of extra clothes to share or he might have; if he'd been wiling to expend the energy (and the energy signature) he could have taken on his other form and supplied her with his scarf, but it might have just been easier to slip into Mirrorspace to continue their conversation.
"Engaged?" he prompted, seeming quite interested--and genuinely happy for her. "Well, congratulations. Have you set a date for your wedding yet?"
He wasn't the sort to fawn over romance, but he was the sort who would have readily supported the happiness of the Court he had sworn such loyalty to. He gestured for her to follow him, then, figuring if he was going to chat with her, neither of them needed to be freezing. There was a mirror around here, somewhere.

Talking about her future with Arilee seemed to be just the distraction Amytis needed to keep her chatty and not worried, so much, about the cold. She followed him, not really thinking about where they might be going.
"No, not yet, but probably summertime, I think Chari wants a beach wedding, and I'd like that too." She said. "We'll probably end up inviting the whole Court, it'll be wonderful." It sounded so magical in her head.
"What about you and um, Lesath?" They had been married, too, in the strange visions she had seen. "You two were...um, I mean. This is probably going to sound odd, but have you had...strange dreams? For a few months? Of a...of the future?"

Something glistened in the distance; moving had let Remarque's eyes catch on the glistening reflection of a street lamp. "I can't wait for it to be summer," he muttered, fairly vocal about his distaste for winter. "A beach wedding sounds nice, Raven and I will be happy to come. We're doing fine."
More or less. They had things they were working out, but that wasn't information he was just going to relay to anyone.
…Of course, he was wondering how much information he could give her while avoiding her question.
He approached the Mirror and held out a hand; it was habit for him to lead the way into Mirrorspace. "All my dreams are weird," he replied nonchalantly.
"…I've had my fair share of strange dreams from the future. Why do you ask?"
…But he already knew. She probably had them, too.
He just wondered if she'd seen the same thing he had.

"That's good, I'm glad," Amytis said sincerely, and when they got to the mirror, she reached out and took his hand. Mirrorspace was safe, at least, and not nearly as cold.
"I, um, I've seen. A future. Some of it was good," she said, and she thought of the twins and she wished she could have them right then, to hold and love and adore, "but...most of it...most of it was bad." She swallowed, and tried to shove away the terrible images that bubbled up. "Do you...think that it all has to happen? Or can we change things?"

Remarque held her hand tightly; he didn't speak again until after they stepped through the rippling Mirror and settled onto solid ground. He released her hand only then, and waved it to form two sturdy looking chairs. "No," he said simply.
"I don't believe in predestined futures." He gestured for her to take a seat, but did not move to sit in his own. Instead, he just planted his hand on his hips and surveyed the distant, mirror-coated walls. "I think the future is what you make it. So that…thing, you saw? It meant nothing."
There was a firmness in his voice, an unwavering conviction; he glanced back at her. "You saw what things could be, I'm sure. But not what they will be. I'll die before I allow that future to happen. But, then. If I'm dead, then I'm not part of that future—and it's already changed. I can't explain why we saw what we saw, but now that we've seen it, we know how to stop it. We just have to make sure things don't get like that. We know what the Negaverse is planning, now. So we have a chance to change that future, I think, and make it our own."

It was strange, for her, being in Mirrorspace. She didn't go out of her way to be there - some might have, but Amytis wasn't one of them. Its shifting, strange forms unnerved her, more than anything, and maybe it would have become more comfortable with time, but she wasn't really willing to give it much. It was a place she sometimes passed through from Mirror A to Mirror B, that was it.
But with Remarque here it seemed oddly anchored - perhaps it responded better to a Prince? The pink-haired girl took a seat, folding her hands in her lap.
Remarque sounded so sure that they could change things - and maybe he was right to be sure. There was much they could do, knowing what the Negaverse wanted. They couldn't be taken by surprise.
She could avoid the angry blond Eternal who had put his hands around her throat and stolen her ability to speak.
"I...I want some of it to happen." She confessed. "Is that silly? Or selfish?" She looked down at her lap. "But I know it has to change, if anyone is going to survive. I...don't know how it all ended, but it must not have been good." There was no good to be salvaged with Order crushed under the Negaverse's bootheel. "I just wish I could have the good parts, without all that terrible world-ending...stuff."

Remarque seemed thoughtful, considering her words, and then nodded. "Then that's what you'll have," he decided. It seemed simple to him; he spoke as though he had the authority to distribute whatever future she was dreaming of.
Perhaps he genuinely thought he had the ability to give it to her.
At the very least, he was going to fight to make the future he wanted. That they wanted. All the good and none of the bad.
"I don't think it's silly or selfish. You saw things that you liked. Things you could dream of, aspire to have. Though," he leaned back in his chair to make himself more comfortable. "What was it that you liked so much about that future?"
…What was it that could have been so good that it tempered all the chaos and evil the Negaverse had brought into the world?

Amytis lit up a little. Remarque's certainty was comforting, and it was easy to imagine that she could, indeed, have what she wanted and not what she didn't. That they all could. Somehow, some way,t they would stop the Negaverse - and everything else would fall into place.
His question startled her a little, and she smiled faintly, in an almost embarrassed sort of way.
"I had...twins. Natasha and Aarne. They were beautiful and sweet and wonderful, and they were only nine months old at...the end. Not even a year." It seemed strange, how short a time she had with them. "Tantalus was their father, it's a long story - but it wasn't just them. It's Ida and Naer and Hver and that little camp in the woods. Being married to Chariklo, though I think we're working that one out already."
She sighed, faintly. "It was so lovely and sweet. The Negaverse ruined it, of course, and I died and it was horrible - but all the rest of it, before then." She could speak of her own death in brief and distant and abstract terms because she had to, or it would come crashing down on her all over again.

Remarque did not speak of his end, if he remembered it. If he had one. But a look of bitterness crossed his face and he nodded, glancing off into the distance for a second to compose himself.
"The rest of it was pleasant enough. Raven and I had one. Chloe. But she was a bit older than yours."
It wasn't information that was easy to divulge, but it was something, at least. Talking about her made her real. Even if she had been some figment of his imagination from some distant, would-be future, he carried that part of her in his heart. Because if ever she was to exist in this world, he would not let her grow up in that one.
"The Negaverse is not worth our time," he said dismissively. "We have been given a glimpse into their intent, and so we have been delivered the key to destroy the future they would cast us into. They will grow complacent with their victory. They won't expect us to alter the course. They may have numbers, but they are witless slaves. Tools for Metalllia. We," he glanced back to her, confidence strong in his voice again, "Are more then that. We are clearheaded, united by a common goal and our own free will. We are puppets to none. And in time, we will succeed in all ways that they have failed. We'll save this Earth, and the senshi that exist on it. And if the Negaverse does not make way for us," he shrugged. "Then we will crush what of them stand in our way."
He took a moment of silence and then concluded, "And we'll get our happily-ever-afters."
