So just as an FYI for any of you curious how Hunter Ranking works in the game atm.
Myselv & Bahaumut were able to drop the Dalamadur for Bahaumut, mine will be tomorrow since he has work, blah blah.
But once he got through the rewards, it said "Hunter Rank Cap Removed" so instead of returning to a fresh HR8, he was HR27.
So for any of you thinking someone with an abnormally high HR is hacking, etc. They aren't.
I will edit in more details as I kind of learn how this works, since we didn't kill my urgent Dalamadur, but afterwards I will let you know how future Hunter Ranks are gained when I understand it.
Just felt you guys should know that fun little tidbit in case you join someone and their HR is super high.

As far as I know, if you're HR7 and you try to do a G rank Guild Quest (GQ's are from Expeditions) it'll be locked out. It's a means of balancing the game so that you're hardlocked into playing the Guild Hall before getting super high awesome weapons and armor from Expeditions. Plus I'm pretty sure when I was watching 4G gameplay, the DLC quests take into consideration your HR level.

Oh? didn't know bout that little thing. I made it into HR 92 in 3ultimate ( trying to complete every quest ever alongside grinding ), but i don't think I ever got locked out of something. If that's what you mean.

To add onto what Zvahl said, HR is calculated through a points based system.
From the moment you start gathering hall quests, each quest adds to a hidden HR point pool. Once you kill Dalamadur as your HR7 urgent quest, the points you have been accumulating are shown and thus your true HR is shown.
For example, I spent a lot of time helping out others and doing some general farming before I killed Dalamadur therefore I ended up as HR40 when I finished the urgent.
Hope that helps clear some things up. smile

So yes, HR is based off the Point system, it's just hidden until you beat the Dalamadur in the Guild hall.
