There were still a few days left to Esmeralda’s vacation and she planned on using every single minute of that vacation. She had gone back to the main land to order more fish, determined to catch herself a Triefen no matter how long it took her or how much gold it would take for the fish she needed. It had only taken a day for her order to come in and she was quite pleased with this. Still, most of the hard work still had to be done. Cutting up the fish was going to take her a long time so she decided to take a day to do it.
The fish was ready the next day when she took it out to the beach, albeit a bit stinkier than she wanted. Which wasn’t necessary a bad thing since the smell would attract the triefen even more. The Dovaa made a face as she picked up pieces of the fish and threw them into the ocean, this stuff was slimier too and gross. It didn’t take long for a shadow to pop and come closer. Esmeralda made sure it was a trifen and then continued to throw more at it until it came onto the beach.
She continued to feed it until the trifen wanted no more food but was content with staying close by and watching her. Good. Good. This was a good start! From the looks of it this was a young male which meant if she was successful in her attempt to tame and train it then she’d only need to capture herself a female. Good. Half her work would be done. As the triefen relaxed in the sun, Esmeralda shifted the water so the sand would build up and create a wall. If the triefen tried to escape it wouldn’t be able to.

With all the food she had given the trifen, Esmeralda was able to get pretty close to the trifen without him even opening its eyes. She made a few noises when she thought she was close and it opened one eye to look at her but for the most part didn’t both moving. Slowly Esmeralda inched closer until she was sitting next to the trifen. He shifted to get a better view on her bit still seemed like he didn’t care much for her. Slowly she extended out a hand towards the trifen and poked his stomach. It growled, opened its eyes at her.
The Dovaa froze in place; the Trifen shifted and opened both eyes at her. She didn’t know if she’d made it angry by poking her or if he was annoyed she’d poked his stomach after she’d fed him all the fish. So she decided to try another tactic. She gently moved her hand so he could smell it. He took a couple of good whiffs, licking her hand probably for some fish juices left behind. Esme chuckled, what a greedy little guy he was. Once he was done licking her hand though she stretched her hand up to pet him.
The triefen made some happy noises and let Esmeralda pet him gently. As he got used to her petting him she moved to his stomach and he rolled to the side so she had better access to his stomach. Esmeralda smiled and really got to scratching his stomach. He made a bunch of happy noises and Esmeralda looked at the fish bucket. Maybe she should try to teach him a couple of things. She certainly dind’t want him wondering off all the time. Maybe she’d make a little cove or something for him. Esmeralda got up to fetch the bucket of fish.

Now that she had the Trifens focus and attention, Esmeralda needed to teach it a couple of things. It didn’t really look like it wanted to be trained; for the most part it just looked like she’d fed it too much fish. Opps. Esmeralda pocked it a few more times but it seemed it needed to digest a bit of food before it got anything done. Sighing softly, Esmeralda decided to try and get the other work she wanted to get done finished. She wanted to get a deep water spot closer to her home for the Trifen which meant she had to get to digging.
While the Trifen slept in the sun, Esmeralda used the tide to dig by having the tide carry the sand where she wanted it to go. It worked well but under this sun she was sweating buckets.
