She was going to find a grownup. Not just any grownup, either. Another senshi. Subra was determined to find more grownup senshi and talk to them. Find out why so few of them seemed to want to talk with chibis like her. Why they were left mostly to their own devices. She was certain it wasn’t intentional...but...they needed help. They needed to learn, not be avoided and treated like they weren’t part of...whatever was going on.

So there she was, henshined and then wrapped up in her long winter jacket so her senshi-ness wouldn’t be so obvious to people, and walking around one of the areas that didn’t seem...as likely to have people try and shoo her home. Hopefully it didn’t go badly. If it did…

Well, she knew how to run, and kick a grownup where it hurt, and how to get a hold of at least Massalia.

It wasn’t quite as cold tonight as it had been, honestly. Still, she was in her own coat (which she hoped no one would recognize) and out patrolling a lot farther from home. Sailor Kepler didn’t want to run into that Negaverse Lieutenant, Sanidine again. Honestly that was a whole lot of awkward that she was going to avoid if at all possible. Not only was he on the opposite side, the fact she let him get close enough to touch her after he’d hit on her and fed her lines was..

Telling. God above she was so lonely for companionship of any kind. Friends, romance, it’d all be welcomed at this point as long as it would provide a distraction from thinking about the aching muscles and bruises she was left with from fights. Not to mention next year was going to be her last year of high school so pretty soon she wasn’t even sure if she’d be able to do her Senshi duties. Kepler ran her hands over her face before she picked up the pace, heading to a pull of energy that was semi-close by. It wasn’t a big energy, but it obviously wasn’t a normal civilian’s.

She arrived just in time to see a little in a senshi outfit and smiled. Oh! A Chibi Senshi. Yumi told her they were out there. “Hello?” She didn’t want to startle the poor girl. So her voice was soft, like she talked to her younger siblings when they were first waking up.

The voice startled Subra a little, but it passed quickly. The softness and the way the other was dressed made her perk up, a bright smile creeping onto her face. “Hello!” It seemed a grownup senshi had found her, instead of the other way around! “You’re like me! Just uh...older.” Definitely older. [Not old, though! Very not old.] She moved over to the other, hand held out as she tried to be...well, adult-ish.

Did the attempt to look more grownup work? Probably not.

“I’m Chibi Sailor Subra! And uh...I’ve actually been looking for an older senshi. You showed up with perfect timing!”

When the chibi looked up, Kepler couldn’t help but laugh and wander even closer, crouching down a bit to get on eye level. Then she took that offered hand and shook it. “Sailor Kepler! And…” She laughed a little, shifting to poke Subra’s cheek. “What are you looking for an elder enshi for?”

She wasn’t belittling or anything, just being fairly playful. Children always made her smile but she was honestly trying to hide the sadness that was hitting her heart. It was bad enough they had teenage soldiers as young as sixteen, but child soldiers? They would lose their innocence early and become very jaded. Would that be the case here?

Subra squeaked, jumping just a little. “I...I just wanted to find out why older senshi avoid us.” She felt her insecurity try to come rushing in, but she wasn’t going to let it win. Not that time! She had an important thing to do, and she was gonna do it! Even if she was nervous the whole time. “I know we’re younger, and we shouldn’t be in this...but we are now.” She took a deep breath. “And we need help from you older senshi, or it’s really hard to stay safe and stuff!”

There! She said it! She really hoped this older senshi, Kepler, wouldn’t get mad at her. She didn’t seem the type but...you never knew. [She still remembered her ‘friends’ in Tacoma turning on her after she’d come out…]

“Uhm...I hope it’s not rude to ask?”

Quote:
She blinked at the chibi’s boldness and then let her brows knit. She hadn’t known senshi avoided the chibis. Honestly it should be the opposite of that. She frowned hard and just hummed before shifting to sit on her butt, watching her. “...I don’t avoid chibi senshi. You’re the first I’ve ever met.. But.. I think because a lot of people have a hard time thinking of chibi senshi as just that, senshi?” A finger rested on Kepler’s chin and she let out a slow noise. It was a hard hitting question, honestly.

“...It’s not rude at all, it’s a very valid question. Honestly there isn’t a big general answer because factors like how comfortable a specific person is with children, if they’re okay with being a senshi themselves, how confident they are… There’s a lot that goes into account.” Or so she thought. Kepler licked her lips a bit more and crossed her arms over her chest.

“I think chibi senshi need the protection of elder senshi. Especially if the chibi senshi isn’t Super or Eternal yet. You don’t know the ropes and have a harder time in battles..” With that, Kepler pulled her senshi phone out of her magical pocket and handed it to her. “If you ever get in trouble, call me. Put your name in here with your contact information. Me and my cat, Yumi, will come to your assistance!”

“Oh.” That...was a very good answer. Which meant...hm. There needed to be some sort of senshi Big Brother, Big Sister thing. Might help! “We do need help. I mean...my friend Massalia...he does okay? But he learned from one of the few older senshi I’ve heard of actually working with a chibi. And knights.” She coughed and looked embarrassed. “He’s also really good at kicking people. It...kinda got him in trouble at school a lot.” But that was off topic! Back to topic! She took the phone offered carefully, nodding.

“Okay. And...I can hand you mine!” That would definitely help! “Is Yumi a magical kitty? Like the one that helped me become Subra?” Now that she thought about it...Horatio had been the only magical kitty she’d met…

Once she was done, she handed the phone back to Kepler, and proceeded to dig hers out and offer it.

“Massalia, hm? Another chibi senshi. It’s a shame I can’t meet him tonight, but I’m very glad I got to meet you.” She watched the chibi input her information and mentally squealed because there was just something about a kid using a cellphone that Kepler would never get over. So smart. A laugh came out of her before she knew it and her brows raised.

“Well kicking is a good skill to have. I’ve kicked so many people. Negaverse, of course.. Youma, mostly, but still. Kicking is good. Just… discourage him from kicking other kids and starting fights. That’s not so good.”

When the phone was handed to her, Kepler pocketed hers away and then put her contact information into Subra’s phone before handing it back. “As for some kind of system, yes, we need one..” There were rumors of a small man trying to organize something or another that way but it was all just that, rumors. As far as Kepler knew not even the Blackwatch had put up anything like that. She tilted her head to the side and frowned a little more. “If this friend of yours needs help too, give him my information. And yes! She’s a Guardian Cat that helps senshi wake up. She’s a big fluffy thing and I think she’d really like you.” Yumi tended to like children. Sort of gravitated to their sweet and honest personalities. “I’ll have to take pictures and show you next time we meet up if I don’t have her with me.”

“Mmhm!” She giggled. “He’s my best friend!” Her giggle was followed by the long-suffering sigh of someone who had been trying to break someone’s bad habit for a long while. “He’s doing better, but he still...well, he’s a boy. And he can be kinda a buttface to other boys sometimes.” She took her phone back, carefully pocketing it. “I’d like that! To see pictures of Yumi, and a system. It works with normal kids and grownups, why couldn’t it work for senshi, too? And maybe knights! What if there’s knights close to mine and Massalia’s ages, too?!” Then they’d need help from older knights!

She squeaked when she realized the time she’d seen on her phone, pulling it out again to doublecheck it. “Uhm...oops. I really gotta go, or I’m gonna get in trouble! I promised my big brother I’d help him make his thing for English look really good!” Of course, all the writing and research involved was Reed’s...but Reed didn’t do NEARLY as well as her at putting displays together! He had two left thumbs when it came to visual arts.

Kepler was trying not to giggle at the childish words used to describe her friend and just ended up biting down on her lip before rubbing her face. Okay, kids say the darndest things and were the absolute cutest. Buttface. She hadn’t heard that in forever.

Then suddenly her chibi friend had to go and she gave a little nod. “It’s nice to meet you then!” Kepler rose to her feet and dusted herself off. “I should probably get back to patrolling. Good luck in school!” With that, Kepler wandered back the way she’d come, deviating after a bit to go explore another new area. Chibi senshi, she decided, were a breath of fresh air and she definitely needed to meet many, many more of them.
