Hello all!

I am now beginning to learn how to crochet and have been learning for a couple of months now. I have only tried out a few things so far, I am finding it fun but a bit tricky! Here are some of my attempts so far:

As you can see my stitches are a bit clumsy and untidy. Does anyone have any tips or beginner projects I could use to improve my crochet skills?

I too am a beginner I highly suggest YouTube though and I can tell you who's good. Such as Yolanda Soto. She teaches only right handed though. (I'm left handed) but I caught on right away. I'm working on amigurumis

I love the rose - it's beautiful! heart
Good luck!
My recommendation is to find a pattern you really like, and to keep trying!
(If you choose something because it looks easy to do, but don't really care for it, it isn't as interesting or fun to do. I have quite a few of these, still 'in progress', in boxes downstairs.) The projects I liked the most, and have finished, were the ones that I enjoyed doing.

I do know HOW to crochet, I'm just not very good at it - it tends to drive me a bit crazy, and I find it much more difficult for me than knitting.
I somehow seem to lose stitches quite easily, even when counting them as I go.
I've tried to make a few 'easy' things (like scarves and blankets), and when I get far enough along to really see it, I notice that it's usually skinnier than when it started.
I've succeeded with a few projects (like a cammo purse I did for someone, and some wrist warmer/fingerless gloves), but it required tearing out substantial amounts and starting over more than once.

I do keep trying, and I have gotten better at it, but I still prefer knitting. wink

I started with amigurumis and then moved to pillows and clothing. now im working on my first graphghan. everythings been easy until this lol. I typically don't follow a pattern bc I like to make things my own. but I love it! heart heart heart heart heart

I'm decent at crochet, my advice is to keep practicing. Amigurumi is a lot of fun (I waant to make a bunch of it for my baby girl), you can also do granny squares (there are a TON of different ones) or other motifs and just sew them into a big project. Good luck!

This is a very late response but thank you everyone for your advice. I have kept practicing and it feels a bit easier now. I have watched many tutorials on YouTube which have helped a great deal and I have found some nice patterns. 4laugh

I very much enjoy crochet and I seem to have developed a slight obsession with Amigurumi xd I have made a few items but I know they can be a lot better. I have a growing list of items which friends and family have requested for Christmas (mostly Amigurumi and scarves) so I am getting more practice! blaugh

I would also like to learn how to knit someday. I know a few people who knit and they have offered to teach me sometime. I have watched a few times, the large needles are a bit intimidating! xp
