It was still early in the afternoon when the lessons for the day had been finished. Eshe was with Aselia, now a prentice and no longer the young child that she had raised from her very early birth.

She had learned everything there was for a youngling mystic to learn and had just begun her duties in assisting and her next step in her lessons. Eshe finished putting away the old texts in the Alkidike language and turned to face the girl. "You've been doing well with your lessons Aselia."

Eshe touched the necklace around her neck in thought. "Aisha's seen to it that you've been growing quickly young one."

It was the next step in her lessons as a Mystic and Aselia was very exited about every step of her learning. She didn't begrudge her life, she embraced it. It made her special, part of who she was. The young prentice looked up from the texts she had been learning from to Eshe's face. While she knew she had mothers of her own, it was Eshe whom Aselia truly considered mother. Aside from Aisha that was. She gave a bright smile at Eshe's compliment. Aselia strove hard to learn, to improve on what she did know everyday. To show Eshe and the rest of the Alkidikes she wasn't just some mistake.

"Thank you!." Aselia responded with a grin proud that her accomplishments were acknowledged by someone she looked up to. As she watched Eshe Aselia blinked and removed the grin from her face. Trying to discern what it was that the elder Mystic might be thinking. Maybe she was just worried about Kadriye, at least that was the conclusion Aselia had come to.

Opening her mouth to speak Aselia closed it abruptly as Eshe spoke again. "Is that a bad thing?" Aselia asked, curious to know about why Eshe had made that part of her thoughts known. "I don't understand Eshe, am I not growing just as quickly as you and Kadriye have?"

Eshe tilted her head, watching Aselia with a faraway look in her eyes. Eshe was known to be the dreamy sort - responsible and more than capable as a mystic - but always seeming to be in a different place than those around her. Most attributed it to her long sessions with Aisha.

She shook her head slightly, moving to sit with Aselia and answering her. "No child. Not bad. Just time passing and the musing of one who's watched you grow from a babe." She leaned on one arm and used the other to grab a cup from the wooden table they both shared a seat at in Eshe's home. "You're not a youngling anymore Aselia." She grabbed a second cup and poured tea into both, passing one to Aselia. "Tell me young one, do you feel you are prepared for the next stage in your training?"

Aselia leaned back a little from where she was sitting. Watching Eshe with interest. Was she going to learn something new? Her antenna twitched with excitement. As Eshe talked of her aging out of being a youngling. She wasn't a child anymore that was certain. And many of her alkidike sisters took this time to search out the world of Tendaji. And while Aselia herself yearned to do the very same, a very deep part of her wanted to stay here. To stay with Aisha and learn. There were things on her mind that had grown stronger since she had discovered stories of her birth. Aselia knew better than to bring them up again and again.

Her dark eyes watched the tea as it was poured into one cup and then another. Her brows furrowed together as she reached out to take the one offered her. Was this supposed to be a formal conversation? Aselia looked back up to Eshe then back to her tea thoughtfully. Was she prepared for the next stage? What other than assisting in Eshe's duties was the next stage? Was there some hidden secret that everyone had been hiding from her?

A smile lit her face as she took a sip of the tea. Placing the cup on the table with very little sound Aselia looked up to Eshe. "You have been teaching me, and you can't fail in that. So whatever it is, I must be ready, or you wouldn't be asking such a question right?"

Eshe blew gently on her tea, watching Aselia think before speaking. Her manners were above par; had she been this thoughtful when she was younger? It was only a passing thought, and then she returned to the present with the young mystic-in-training in front of her.

"Well spoken, Aselia." Eshe couldn't tell what the girl was thinking of, but she seemed to be concerned... or maybe it was just a burning want to know what it was Eshe was talking about. "You can relax young one, I believe you are ready. I wanted to know what you thought of your new duties. Not everyone moves at the same pace. I cannot force you to learn more than you might be capable of."

She sipped her tea before returning the cup to the table. "Do you desire to travel, Aselia?" It was what Eshe had been trying to asses during their training that day. The other prentices of the Islands weren't tethered like Aselia was, with her additional duties resting on her shoulders. She had been watching Aselia, trying to figure out what it was the girl wanted and desired, but Eshe hadn't detected much from the young prentice at this point.

Relaxing didn't feel quite right to the young Mystic to be. There were to many things to learn, to many things she just had to know. Smiling over towards Eshe, Aselia couldn't help the beam on her face. "You really think so!?" She blurted out before attempting to correct herself. "I enjoy everything I do here. I love watching the mothers faces when I place the new infants in their arms. I love tending to the lotus'." Aselia blinked somewhat troubled. Did that mean that she was learning slower then Kadriye had? The thought smarted a bit. "But I don't want to learn slow! I want to learn as much as I can now."

Huffing childishly Aselia pouted. Her eyes cast down towards the tea again. Ignoring it for the time being. Watching the steam rise from the cup in silence as she waited for Eshe to speak again. Did she want to travel? Yes, in part she did. But only for reasons like finding Rishima and meeting her. To see what the world of Jauhar looked like. She had heard so many things about it. Her heart ached deeply when she thought of all the places Kadriye could have gone while she stayed behind.

With a sigh Aselia nodded her head fervently. Paused and shook it back and forth with just as much vigor. "Yes, no. I don't know Eshe. I want to find Rishima, maybe see the places that Kadriye got to see..." She paused briefly her gaze snapping to the elder Mystic. "But I can't leave you! I can't leave Aisha! I have duties here. I haven't learned everything yet." It was like a hard war within her.

Eshe let out a lighthearted laugh at the younger girl's convictions to learning and her flustered pout. Eshe couldn't begin to understand what the girl was thinking, but it was sweet to think she was so intent on staying on the islands. "You're life is not expected to be lived on the island for eternity." Eshe smiled to Aselia and reached out a hand to lay on hers. "You are allowed to leave. To explore. You must know this; Kadriye has been off the island on several occasions. You have hit an age now where you are old enough to take leave on occasion."

Eshe waited for the girl's reaction, a small smile on her face. "I remain on the island as the eldest mystic. But I too left when I was young. As most Alkidike choose to do."

Aselia's eyebrows scrunched together. "If I were to leave it would be to find Rishima." The young prentice muttered. Crossing her arms over her chest. "And maybe to see what Jauhar is like." Looking out of the corner of her eyes towards the door Aselia's pout continued until Eshe had mentioned that she too had traveled. That seemed to make the tide within her lean closer towards traveling in search of others. To learn the world.

"You left when you were younger?" Aselia asked reluctantly. "Where did you go? What did you see? What about the hybrids. And the earthlings. Didn't they want to harm you?" Aselia stared at the markings on her arms. Maybe if she was free to travel as Eshe had, could she go to see this Suruhama with her own eyes. Maybe she could find a way to get better with her magic while she was gone.

Aselias stomach rumbled and the young prentice blushed. Trying to pretend such noises didn't come from her.

Eshe nodded her head slowly, her eyes staring off into the distance. She had left when she was younger and full of desire for exploration. Of course back then, there had only been Jauhar to explore, but she had ran and climbed and fought with the other Sisters in play, enjoying the freedom that wasn't to last in her life. It was a self inflicted imprisonment, but there had to be a mystic on the island at all times, and Eshe had had her fun.

She smiled to Aselia's many questions. "I left, as most choose to do. The world was much more closed off back then. There weren't so many earthlings as there are now." She leaned into her tea and took a sip. "Jauhar was the only area for Alkidike in the past. And we were a force to be reckoned with. Earthlings and hybrids were no cause of fear for the Alkidike warriors." The pride in her own race was building up in her own eyes. It was a different time back then, but it was a time she was raised in, so it was odd to think that now the Alkidike were no longer feared. Or at least not as feared.

She heard her young prentice's stomach and laughed softly. "I suppose it is time for a meal, isn't it?" They had been training most of the morning, she would be surprised if Aselia wasn't hungry by now.

Aselia's heart ached. "Are we not as united as we once were? With not being as strong as in the past?" Aselia mused as she looked back down at the tea in front of her. Thoughtfully gazing into it's calm surface. Pouting she shifted the glass a little to create some swirling tension in the tea.

The mention of a meal had Aselia's attention in a moment. "Oh did you need help with gathering any or preparing the food?" Aselia was always prepared to do whatever it was that Eshe asked of her. After working hard all morning Aselia had tried to put off the desire to eat. She moved to stand as her eyes watched the older Mystic. Politely trying hard to wait for instructions or permission.

Eshe shook her head solemnly to the young girl. "No, we are not as united as we once were. Many Alkidike are choosing to explore relationships with earthlings." She looked down for a moment, knowing that Aisha would not give those a child unless they were deserving, but also knowing how overly loving Aisha was of her children. "Hybrids are becoming more common, thinning the blood lines." Eshe sighed and sat her cup onto the table. What was happening at the time could not be avoided, and it was not her place to try to put a stop to it. So there was no point in dragging out a conversation that had no solution.

"Today we'll join the village and eat in the market. No need to prepare food right now." She stood from her seat and brushed off her hands. "If you would like to join me you may, or you can rest early. There will be no more training for today." Eshe smiled to the prentice.

"Aisha wouldn't do it without a reason, right?" Aselia muttered thoughtfully mulling over the words Eshe had spoken. Thinning bloodlines could spell trouble, that was if they weren't united. The young girl chewed on the inside of her lip. If only there was a way to unite all who came under aisha, after all a war with the earthlings had already happened once. If they were so divided into individual thinking and not thinking as a whole couldn't that spell problems for their kind in the future? Aselia paled at the thought.

Smiling Aselia nodded and stood to follow Eshe. "Yes I would love to join you in the market to eat. I haven't eaten there in a long time. I don't feel tired yet and I don't really want to go rest when I'm not tired." Aselia stretched her arms and made a show of how much energy was still left in her frame. "Besides I think it would be good to be among our sisters for a time."

Eshe nodded, watching the young girl stretch and stand before making her way out of the hut and into the filtered sunlight beneath Aisha. The only pace Eshe knew was slow and relaxed, and so it was slow and relaxed that they made their way towards the rest of the Sisters and toward the island's market, Eshe's fethered skirt swaying with every languid step.

It was small and cramped, but the stalls were overflowing with seafood and goods both from the mainland and the islands. "I'm thinking this here, yes?" She gestured to a shellfish dish already steamed and cracked and soaked in juices and seasonings. It looked delicious. She purchased two and handed one of the full shells to Aselia. "So tell me Aselia, where would you go, given the chance to travel?" Eshe chose a spot under a large tree for their meal, sitting under it's sturdy trunk before beginning to taste the large creature in her lap.

Aselia followed close behind Eshe, matching pace with the older Mystic. The smells and sound almost overwhelmed Aselia as they reached the market. Quickly adapting to her surroundings she nodded as Eshe pointed to food. She wasn't as picky when it came to food and ate what was offered to her within reason.

Taking the offered food into her hand Aselia thanked Eshe before lifting the shell to her lips and taking a small slurp. Hot. The liquid was still a bit to warm for Aselia to drink, and that was her favorite part. Perhaps it would be better if she waited a little bit and ate the main part first. Taking her place under the tree beside Eshe Aselia gave the woman a smile.

"Given the chance to travel I would go to tale." It was an automatic response the mystic to be hadn't even the need to stop and think it over. "I want to see the birds that hold the feathers that kept me alive as a newborn. They are in Tale, aren't they?"

Eshe listened to the young prentice's response, giving a small shake of her head. "Sauti, young one. The Suhurama live in the largest mountains of Sauti, on the northern edge of the world." Eshe took a small piece of the creature and popped it into her mouth. It was indeed delicious, she would have to thank the Sister who prepared it later.

"Sauti is a farther trip than Tale, would you make it alone?" It wouldn't be unheard of to go alone. Many traveled that way, but it might be wiser if Aselia were to find someone to travel with. Perhaps a Sister of rank, Eshe thought to herself, though that might limit the young girl from her freedom.
