So far, Lorne's attempts to secure a safe, powered home back in Destiny City had turned up a whole lot of nothing in spite of his best efforts. He almost wondered if the universe was trying to send him a sign and keep him here in France - but if he left things the way they were, it felt unfinished, and he wasn't happy with that. So failing all else, he'd turned to one last ditch attempt to find an apartment back home:

The internet. This was the least safe option, naturally. It could be anyone behind the screen, and that went beyond the whole nega-senshi-knight-civ thing. It could be a total mess, or infested with rats, or he could end up saddled with a hoarder or something. But he needed to get his foot in the door if he was really going to get back into the swing of things, and he'd had enough of waiting for a chance to fall in his lap.

One ad caught his eye right off the bat: college student, seeking a roommate. Seemed about right, even if it wasn't super specific. There weren't even any pictures which was a potential red flag right there.

But, again; if he was going to be a knight, he was going to be taking much bigger risks than answering an online ad for an apartment. He tried to look at it that way while he typed up a quick email:

Quote:
Dear Trevor,

Hello! My name is Lorne Benoit. I used to live in Destiny City, and I want to return to attend university. I saw that you were seeking a roommate, and I was wondering, if no one has taken you up on it yet, whether you had any additional information about yourself or the apartment that you could provide? Thank you, and sorry for the trouble.

- Lorne

Then, it was back to the waiting game.

Trevor was still getting over a break up and he figured a run with be the thing, so he got dressed and headed out. His phone went off alerting he had a email, he had been smart to sync up his phone with his email, just in case he was nowhere near a laptop, he stopped by a bench and walked to cool down and time to take a drink of water. He scrolled through his email and found that he got a unread one and he touched it and it opened.

He sat down to read through it before typing up a reply to it:

Quote:
Dear Lorne,

Nice to meet you Lorne, I'm Trevor Rose. No one has taken me up on the offer so you are free to come and share it with me. I'm currently attending Destiny City University on a sports scholarship, I play soccer and part if the Destiny City University track and field team. The apartment is on the campus is walking distance to all the buildings that you have Classes in for the semester. The apartment building itself is always clean and i go shopping to replenish the food every once or twice a week, its a two bedroom so you have your own room and bathroom, if you have any questions feel free to ask, and if you are still interested i look forward to meeting you in person.

-Trevor

He stretched and headed back to the apartment to clean up and grab a snack for himself, he figured he would walk to cool down, he hummed to himself as he walked towards the apartment.

A response! And a fast one, too! That meant he was friendly - or else desperate, but Lorne was trying to think positive here. He sucked in a deep breath as he skimmed the email, and couldn't help but smile to himself when he read out his entire name. Trevor Rose. Nice name, good ring to it. - not like it should matter what his name sounded like. A guy with the last name of Rose could still be a giant hairy man-child for all he knew. But still, one foot out the door, right?

He drew a deep breath and thought long and hard about how to formulate his words before composing his own reply.

Trevor,

That sounds perfect; I'm definitely interested. I know this probably sounds like a hassle, but do you have pictures of the apartment or anything like that? It's not like I don't take your word for it, but it'll make the talk I'm going to be having with my parents tomorrow a lot easier. If you don't feel comfortable though, I completely understand. Thank you!

- Lorne

Okay, so maybe Lorne didn't completely take his word for it, but... the nicer he sounded the better, right? Besides, it really would make his parents feel better. The talk tomorrow was going to be long as it was.

Still though, his heart was pounding, rushing with adrenaline. It was finally progress; one step closer to Destiny City.

Trevor was almost home when his email alert on his phone went off again, he blinked and opened the email reading through it. He frowned a little, this was his first time he was asking for roomie, and it seemed one element he missed was pictures of the apartment itself. He pondered a bit and unlocked the door pushing it and walking in, the door closing behind him. He took off his shoes and his running shirt and set them in the laundry basket, before he typed a reply back:

Lorne,

I unfortunately do not have pictures of the apartment, i've been a little busy with some prior commitments. So..I apologize for not providing those.

-Trevor

He blew out a breath and collapsed on the couch staring up at the ceiling, his apartment had so many good memories, and he never considered the fact that he would lose someone he care about. He put an arm over his eyes, yes he was still going through the pain of his break up. On top of his day-to-day life he also had a duty to patrol at night.

The response wasn't surprising, but it was still a little disappointing. Lorne would have liked to have seen it... but an apartment was still an apartment, and like he'd thought before, he could always figure something else out when he got there if it turned out to be a straw hut or something. And hey, maybe then he'd be living in the one straw hut Destiny City had. What a novelty.

... Of course, there was one other option. It wasn't his favorite option, and he would almost rather go into this blind than ask. But if he was taking responsibility here, the least he could do was ask. Exhaling a long, slow sigh that expressed how much he truly didn't want to ask, he whipped up a quick response and secretly hoped Trevor would turn him down.

Trevor,

No, no, I completely understand! Things happen and all. Out of curiousity, do you have Skype or something? - maybe if you're not busy we could do a video chat? That way you'd know I'm human, you know. If you want, let me know. No pressure!

- Lorne

'That way you'd know I'm human'; even in text that sounded awkward. Lorne groaned to himself as he hit send, waiting for the inevitable rejection so he could go ahead and pull up some stock apartment photos for his parents tomorrow. They'd never know the difference at least.

Trevor pulled his arm away from his eyes and glanced at the reply email, technically the only technology he ever used was his phone, so the answer would be no to Skype, He was an outdoorsy person so technology was not top priority and he could live with that.

Lorne,

I do not, since I communicate with family and friends through texts or calls on my phone.

-Trevor

He hit send on the email and glanced at the time on his cell phone, he may have time for a quick shower. He set his phone down on the coffee table and stood up stretching, he grabbed his towel from his room and a clean pair of track pants and headed to the bathroom.

A few mintues later he came out of the bathroom and threw on his pants and dried his hair. He thought about grabbing a shirt, but its not like anyone was living with him currently so he was perfectly comfortable shirtless. He walked over the couch his bare feet barely making a sound as he walked. He scooped up his phone to see if he had gotten a reply.

Well, that was that then. In spite of himself, Lorne wasn't sure whether to feel relieved or more anxious about the whole situation than ever. But it was sort of the best lead he'd gotten, and in a price range he felt he could afford without putting his parents out too much. (It wasn't like money was an issue, but he didn't want to burden them on top of freaking them out by declaring his return to crazed costumed hell.)

He leaned back in his chair and chewed idly at his thumbnail, mulling it over for a few minutes. Really, most likely this wasn't safe. It was getting shadier the longer it went on. But it was still something he could use, and if he went there and saw it was a weird freak house with 5,000 cats and rotting from the inside out, he could just take his stuff, stow it away somewhere, and try powering up to find safer lodging that way.

Granted, that would involve talking to people, and that was a whole big thing right there, but... he was a little better now than he had been when he was younger. Surely he could figure something out? Yes, surely he could! - he hoped.

Trevor,

I can always try using Google Maps or something to see the place - but in any case I'll discuss it with my parents in the morning and get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you so much!

StarshineAngel01
If you want I'm willing to wrap it up here and we could do a new thread where Lorne actually gets there? smile

Trevor glanced at the reply and read through it, there was a 50/50 chance that Lorne would say yes or no. I guess on his part he could work on advertising better. He blew out a light sigh and typed up a short reply:

Lorne,

Okay, sounds good and your welcome.

He stood up and stretched a bit before he decided to make himself a snack, he was getting hungry. He ran his hand through his hair and started for the kitchen pulling out what he needed for his snack.
