Blood was everywhere... The big white stallion was panting hard from the exertion of running down the Cerynei buck, but he'd finally caught the fleet footed creature and torn out his throat. The blood had splashed partially across his snow white legs and he had some around his muzzle where he'd bitten into the stallion. His eyes were alight with the excitement of the hunt. A grin spread across his face as he went to dig into the mid section.
Just as he reached the soft fur covering the stomach he stopped. His head jerked up and he reared stepping a few feet back from the corpse.
"Again with this!" He hissed angrily. His kinder half was stopping him from feasting upon his prize. 'The voice' did not take it well when his soft hearted conscious told him that he couldn't eat on other soq. It was wrong! Feh! Pointless whining drivel... If one could kill it, one could eat it. Circle of life.
"Circle of life! We are no less than skinwalkers thinking like this..." The lighter kinder voice said. He was horrified to see the glazed eyes of the Cerynei. Could this soquili have had family? Children? He could never know and now this stallion would never see them again.

Tefla
Sorry for the darker theme. Skaal is very far gone....

There was at first nothing to indicate to Eiryn that somewhere nearby a life and death struggle had just come to a close. She had been too busy tending to her small patch of flowers that had recently sprung forth from the ground. She carefully trapped the majority of a weed between her teeth and gave it a sharp yank dragging it away from the new blooms. Her wings spread out a little as she stared down at the patch of earth that had taken to her caring ministrations with pride glowing in her eyes. Giving herself a small nod of satisfaction Eiryn turned away from the flowers. As much as she wanted to stay the mare knew that she had to take care of herself as well.

Walking with a light tread the half-angeni gave a quiet sigh of contentment before pausing. The oddest sensation came over Eiryn as she craned her neck to peer at her surroundings. Her blue eyes stopped on what appeared to be a path of destruction. Her body tensed as she carefully wound her way down the path. Eiryn softly brushed the broken foliage around her with her wings. What being had caused such carelessness? A heavy sigh wracked her frame before sound reached her ears. They swiveled catching the sound of someone nearby. Inhaling deeply Eiryn caught a strange odor that overlaid everything else.

What was going on? Her curiosity was piqued now.

It is alright. Eiryn's not quite in sight of Skaal yet, almost though.

'The Voice' shook his stolen head back and forth and though the effect was dizzying he managed to push back his other self. It wasn't often he managed to rest control from Skaalbjorn and he had no intention of letting go now.
Burying his teeth into the belly flesh he began to feast messily upon the still warm corpse. It was heavenly to 'The Voice' while the inner self wretched and moaned about lost humanity. He nearly choked on his mouthful of meat trying to scoff at the fool in his mind. He paid it no attention, one day his will would break the others and he would be whole.

Skaalbjorn was lost deep within his own madness, a prisoner of his own mind. Wrapped in chains and muzzled. How he cried for release, for help, but no one could hear him.

Something here was not like the other. Eiryn stiffened momentarily when realization at what the splotch of red was smeared on the ground came to her. The sight of blood splashed before her had a disorienting effect on the mare. She understood fine the fact that there were creatures out there that needed to feast on the flesh of others, but why did it have to be in nearby vicinity to her garden? Gritting her teeth she pushed forward. There possibly was some creature out there that was suffering. That distressing thought alone kept her moving forward. If there was at least a small chance that she could ease one's pain until either help arrived or the inevitable came to pass then it was a small price to pay.

The macabre trail that she now proceeded to pursue wound around a natural outcropping of rocks and Eiryn was able to determine that it would be around that obstacle that the victim would be. The splashes of blood had grown in size and Eiryn had a sinking but fleeting thought that she had arrived too late. It did not stop her from moving forward at a slower pace. As she steeled herself for what needed to be done Eiryn stepped out from beyond the rocks and froze. The grisly tableau before her caused a small exclamation to escape her. No no no no no. This wasn't what she had hoped for. It was ten times worse. Eiryn's gaze locked on the dead cerynei and the creature that was currently consuming its flesh in a seemingly content manner. Words failed her as the scene kept her frozen in plain sight.

The Voice locked up when his own ears heard the startled gasp from behind. Greedily he gulped down the last mouthful and turned slowly to stare at the lovely green mare before him. Her wings were graceful, her hair a flowing green darker than her body, like that of a stream within a deep forest it's bed covered in moss. His sudden grin complete with sharp fangs could be considered disturbing.

"Well we'll well... What have we here..? Are you lost little mare?" That grin turned wicked as he circled around to her left, then turned and went back right cutting a semi circle around her front his ice blue eyes never leaving hers. "You shouldn't have come here..." His words ended in a growl.

He rushed forward, closing the gap between them, teeth bared. Then just as suddenly he was in the dark. Locked in a cage, chained, and muzzled. The b*****d had taken back control. How he railed against the very notion of it but the muzzle held his mouth closed.
The sudden switching of personalities caused him pain but Skaal corrected his course and missed the mare by mere inches, his over large form crashing into a bush of early spring berries, their thorns were none too kind on his wings but he'd succeed in not harming the mare.
"Forgive me..." He said in a quiet voice, as he got to his feet, "I was not myself."

Having the sense to realize that one was being appraised like she was this creature's next meal did not go over too well with Eiryn. Her wings gave the tiniest of ruffles as she pondered if flying away right now was the best idea. The piercing gaze that the stallion directed onto her though stilled her motions. He would not need much provocation to follow her into the air and take her down. The thoughts distracted Eiryn from the danger that was still circling from left to right before her.

Ice blue eyes locked onto her own and the growl that issued from the stallion froze her in place. Before she could comprehend what was occurring Eiryn found herself in the line of fire as the stallion charged her. Her muscles refused to budge and instead she braced herself as best as she could for the impact she was expecting. What wasn't expected was the sudden breeze of air rushing by her as the stallion swerved at the last minute. Craning her head to look behind her showed Eiryn were the stallion had gotten too. Flicking her tail the mare turned in time to hear the apology. Eiryn's ears flicked back and forth with uncertainty. Confusion reigned supreme in her mind and was mirrored by her actions. "Forgive me as well because I don't understand what just happened."

He grimaced slightly at the pain in his wings, the thorn bush was none too kind to them naturally. His eyes looked back up at the mare seeing her for the first time. She was uncannily beautiful, almost ethereal. His eyes moved to her wings. Angeni..? What was an Angeni doing here? "I should explain then." A sigh escaped his lips, blowing his wildly curly hair out of his eyes, "I suffer from a condition, as some would say. Two personalities in one body." He paused and shivered as 'The Voice' fought against his chains. Shaking his head he continued, "I call him 'The Voice'. He is the evil of my soul. Two forces vying for control..." His eyes rose to his Unicorn horn then to his Kalona wings, then to her begging her to understand for this was all he knew of himself. He hated himself, railed against it, wanted the suffering to end. Even if he had to end himself.

There was a moment, a almost infinitesimal amount of time, in which confusion reigned supreme in Eiryn's mind. It was obvious that the stallion that now stood apologizing to her had indeed tried to injure, or worse, kill her. It was beyond her comprehension then why she seemed to believe the explanation that had been given to her. Perhaps it was the complete reversal in the stallion's personality that helped her to make the unconscious decision to remain. Her rigid posture began to fade and slowly Eiryn began to feel herself calm down. Her gaze flicked to the side and regret swamped her mind anew.

She took in the sight of the grisly cerynei's body before turning away from the scene. Although she wished to speak, to offer some words of comfort, she found that she couldn't do so just yet. Her expressive eyes closed on the corpse nearby as she felt herself go weak. If what this stallion said was true, then was there a chance she was still in danger?

Leaving would have been the best course available to her but there was something at work inside. She instead found herself catching the pleading expression in the stallion's eyes as he glanced in her direction. Her words, spoken in little more than a whisper, floated around her. "Thank you for the explanation. I cannot begin to imagine what that might be like for you to go through with every moment of every day. It must be excruciating."

Eiryn paused before sighing softly, her decision finalized. "Do you have a name?"

He lowered his head in shame when she looked back at the dead Cerynei, feeling his own stomach heave at the thought he'd done that. That poor creature, dead because he couldn't control his other half.
Why this affliction, or rather curse had found him he didn't know but there were days when he stood on the edge of a precipice and thought about throwing himself from it, but he couldn't! The Voice wouldn't let him. He felt another shiver run through him as The Voice snarled within his mind, chains rattling violently.

"Skaalbjorn m'lady, but if you prefer just Skaal..." His head was still down, shame still clear on his features. Her words about it being excruciating to live like this hit home. He feared what he would do if he returned to his family, to his mother. "You are an Angeni... His eyes rose fractionally to look into hers. I wonder have you ever run across someone with my condition before?"

Eiryn committed the stallion's name to memory as she gently rustled her wings. A single feather shook loose from the rest as it was wont to do. Her mind was still processing all that had happened since she had stumbled across this emerging life and death drama. There was absolutely no hope for the Cerynei but perhaps there was hope for herself and even Skaalbjorn. Although she had to dash the hopes of the stallion before her it seemed before they could go any further in this conversation.

"Skaalbjorn. You are correct, although I'm only a half-angeni," here Eiryn paused and sighed deeply. Her gaze softened as it rested on Skaal. "It pains me to admit that I've never heard of one with your condition before. However if there is anything I can do to help, just name it."
