In what little time she had between shifts, Chel crashed on the sun lounge couch. She had twenty minutes until her next shift, but luckily she had a video game that didn't require a lot of time.
The blueish glow of the runes resonated on her hands as she tapped the left and right buttons on her gameboy advance (her Christmas present from Chris, love that cousin). It was sonic- she didn't even know he came in such top quality graphics.
(The wii was going to blow her goddamn mind once she opened it).

After her spar with Sherry, she realized she had a lot of things to brush up on. Her stance, her skill, her swordsmanskill...
Mimi's shoulders slumped. If only things were as simple as games. Life had no tutorials, no secret skills to unlock, no finishing moves... well, she supposed those were what "fear attacks" were, but levelling up in life was slow and tedious. It probably didn't helped that she preferred playing Mage classes, spells seemed much easier.
Daeeeeeee-sama, je suis fatigué. Can't I take a little break and-
The sound of pinging caught her attention, and seemed to be coming from the room ahead.
Curiousity getting the better of her, she ignored Daeris' complaints and peeked into the room, eyes lighting up when she saw another hunter playing on a game. It looked like she was a sun hunter too, and had really pretty hair.
"Hi! I'm Mimi!"

The voice got Chel to look up enough to recognize there was a face she hadn't known before. Bright, colorful- Chel especially liked the pink highlights in her hair.
She smashed the start button to pause the game, then put her attentions more fully on Mimi. "Sup? I s'posed to know you or something?" She was unsure if this was someone she'd met before or if it was someone completely new. Maybe one of the many women she'd talked to at parties or-
No, much too nice for that. She looked at the coat; completely new and base level. Newbie then. "You new here?"

Oh wait, she already introduced herself.
"U-um, probably not, since I'm new..."
She was pretty sure she answered that question already also.
Great first impression, Mimi, off to a good start.
"U-um, what are you playing?"
Whether Chel liked it or not, she was already walking towards her.

"Cool cool." Chel didn't mind that Mimi was walking towards her, since she both enjoyed the company of strangers and making new friends. "I'm Chel by the way."
In fact, Chel almost seemed to be inviting the girl to look over her shoulder. "Sonic. You know they made a bunch of them? I never even knew." She grinned, tapping the buttons in time with the platforms.
But then sonic ran into a set of spikes and the game over screen rolled. "Wanna play?"

"Chel..."
Mimi paused a moment to ponder the name.
"I like it! It's pretty!"
She was really excited to see the hunter was more than happy to let her see, and she cozied up next to her, eyes lighting up at the screen.
"Ooh, le hérisson bleu! I know the classic, but I'm not too familiar with spin-offs they made."
There were crossovers too, she heard, but she often liked keeping to the original.
Mimi couldn't help but wince when Sonic collided into some spikes, but when Chel offered to let her play, she looked up at her with wide eyes.
"May I??"

"Uh, bless you?" Chel said in response to the french.
She slid over on the couch, kicking her boots on the ground with her. There was a curt pat to the material next to her, indicating Mimi should join. "Ya 'course. Just don't break it or nothin'."
Then she held out the purple object for the junior hunter to take. "What division you in?"

"Gesundheit!"
Mimi beamed, and then paused. Wait.
"Oh! I didn't sneeze. I was referring to Sonic being 'the blue hedgehog'. It's what papa always says when he sees it."
She watched as Chel kicked her boots off and slid over and followed suit, taking her own footwear off before scooting closer.
"Ok! I promise to be very careful!"
Her eyes twinkled when she was handed the game, and she ooed at the pretty case. She had never seen ones that glowed before. Was this new? So neat!!
The start button was pressed, and she turned to Chel, still smiling.
"I'm in Sun!"

Somehow the bright eyes and sparkly attitude reminded Chel of so many other bright and sparkly girls at Deus-
-Which is why it came a surprise to her that the girl was in sun.
"Oy you in sun? Me too man. Guess that makes me your superior." She said the word with a serious air, but it immediately dissolved into snorts and giggles. As far as Chel was concerned, everyone at Deus was a bumbling idiot if they thought superiority and authority actually mattered. Rebellion for life.

It hadn't even occurred to her that she should probably be pressing buttons to AVOID said spikes, because not even 10 seconds later the game was already over.
Though, that was mostly because Mimi still had her eyes glued to the sun hunter.
If it were possible, sparkles would have physically manifested to show just how excited Mimi was.
"Really?? That makes you my senpai!!"
Oh boy, ALL THE SENPAIS. And they were all really pretty ladies who were super strong. She was so happy she came to Deus. So happy.
Eventually Mimi would understand rank didn't mean much on the island, but for now, EVERYONE was her superior and she was a-ok with that. Time to learn ALL the things!!!

Chel didn't mind the repetitive game overs. It didn't affect her high score and if Mimi was having fun then she wasn't about to interrupt.
"Senpai? Wassat?" she questioned, having no experience with Japanese culture to say the least.
She raised an eyebrow as Mimi got another gameover. "You uh- you try to get ta the end without dyin'." Maybe she didn't know the aim of the game?

Chel seemed like a wise older figure to her. Why, she practically radiated wisdom~
It was only after Chel pointed it out that realize Mimi was not quite playing the game right, oops.
"Oh, right! Sorry!"
She hit the start button again and tried to concentrate, but she really wanted to talk to the pretty sun hunter too. She could talk and play at the same time, but mama often taught her that it was impolite to talk while not making eye contact.
As such, it wasn't long until her distraction caused another game over, and she looked up at Chel.
"Can I ask how you got such a pretty case? I've never seen glowy cases before."
Mimi was pretty sure there were some cases with LED lights built in, yet these looked kinda different. Fancier?

Chel snorted loudly. "Oh ******** man- I ain't a senpai. Please don't look up to me holy s**t. Have you seen my face? Have you seen it?" She even moved her head slightly to show off the ugly scars that littered the left side of her face. Clearly she was not one to be admired.
She watched for a moment or two as Mimi continued, evaluating the girl's skill. The silence that followed was unnerving- why wasn't she saying anything?
"Case? It ain't-" Then Chel remembered that it was literally plastered with runes. "Ohhhh. Yeah it ain't a case. Those are runics man. Cost me like five-hundred bucks too. Damn, they ain't even taught you runics?"

Mimi gasped when Chel turned her face to show her the scars. Such terrible wounds...
Tears started welling up in her eyes as she imagined just what horrid beasts could have marred her so.
"Did... did they hurt?"
She clearly didn't understand the concept of scars.
There was one thing she understood though.
Mimi let the game console rest in her lap as he reached out to take Chel's hands, staring at the pink-haired hunter intensely.
"You must have fought mighty beasts to get those. I admire you greatly Chel-senpai".
She was truly a mighty warrior of justice.
The mention of runics caused a blank stare from the petit hunter, yet at some point, she finally managed to put two-and-two together.
"Oh! Kind of like the runes on our weapons?"
She fell silent for a bit.
"Does that mean you have another partner? Is it possible to have more than one?"
Mimi couldn't imagine having two voices in her head, and Dae-sama didn't seem to appreciate having to share the head space.
Not that it would have made much of a difference. She already deemed the hunter a lost cause.

"They hurt like a ******** at the time, but not no more no," she told Mimi, fingers going up to touch the sides of her face. It was bringing a pinkish color to her face to hear that someone actually admired the scars, but she coughed awkwardly to try and hide it.
The comparison to the weapon was a good one. "Yeah, sorta like our weapons. 'Cept different." She shook her head to the second question. "Nah nah. We only get one weapon. These are just runes that make it so the island shield doesn't smash our s**t. Electronics don't work here unless they run on runics." She rubbed the back of her head and said, "Uh ... s'about all I know though. If you wanna know more y'gotta ask a lifer or somethin'."[A.V.] im so sorry i forgot to tag >_
