Jett was rather set in his ways, and with things changing so much in his life now, he needed to reach out and get back to his roots. Raven had moved, and while they had a whole system worked out and were still keeping in contact, it was strange to know that she wasn't just twenty minutes away from him, somewhere in the city. She was far away, off in California, pursuing her career, living her life…meeting new people.
And he was doing the same old thing. It felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, knowing that she was still a part of his life, but he couldn't help the pressure that was building inside. Tension was coursing through him, making him irritable and testy; it felt like bugs crawling across his skin and he knew he just needed to do something to work things out.
He hadn't been to the gym in months, and while he had stayed in shape from powering up and staying active, he found that he missed boxing. It was a strange thing; something he used to be so active in that just faded from his life. He hadn't been in a competition in…what, years? And he was rusty. He had his instincts to back him up if he got into a fight, but…what else? He was still in good shape, but he needed to be in better shape—in top shape.
So, here he was, wrapped up snuggly to fend off the winter chill, entering the gym he used to frequent several times a week. Some things were different, the faces were different—but some things were the same.
Some faces were the same.
And, in a strange way, it was like coming home.

Cora was a nightly visitor to the gym as of late, always coming after her patrol. She couldn't help it though, she had a certain negaverse officer that got under her skin in both a good and bad way. Thus the reason the red head took up kick boxing once more. Wiping the sweat from her brow, she grabs her water bottle from her bag, quickly sipping from it. It was odd being here, seeing faces she knew, but didn't really talk to anymore.
Given most of them probably knew her ex, it was hard to say anything without being asked about him.
Placing her hand on her waist, she glance around for a brief moment to see if she might be able to find someone willing to spar with her. It was then she thought she saw a familiar face, one she might have been in the ring with before.
She watch him for a moment, before a name came with the face.
Jett..
Dropping her water bottle, she waves towards his direction "Hey Jett, you finally coming back around?" she calls to him, hoping he might remember her.

Jett glanced up, surprised at being addresed. He usually minded his own business when it came to the gym; he wasn't looking to socialize. Not that he was opposed to it, but he wasn't even sure who he knew here, anymore.
Shrugging his bag off of his shoulder when he reached a bench, he eyed the girl who had called him; he waved his hand to acknowledge he had heard her, but it took him a few short seconds after that for the memories to come flooding back.
"Cora," he greeted, clinging to the first name that popped into his head. "I might be, we'll see how it goes tonight. It's been a while, how have you been?"

Cora smiles as she walks over to Jett "Same old, working out my frustrations." that was keyword for, she had problems she didn't want to deal with for the moment. So she took them out on a punching bag or whoever wanted to go a round with her in the ring.
"Been awhile since I've seen you here. Figured you decided to try a new gym and got bored." she teases before pushing her hand through her hair. Placing her towel around her neck, she smiles "Its good to see you around though. Still boxing, or have you moved on from that?" she was curious simply because she might have to see if he was up for a round in the ring.

"You know how life can get," he shrugged. "I still box, but I haven't been in the ring in a while. Almost forgot what it was like to be in a competition. Most of my sparring partners have their own styles, so it's been…I don't know, probably over a year at least since I was last in a legitimate boxing match. Kinda missed it. What about you? You look like you're still kickboxing. Been in any competitions lately, or just staying in shape?"
He rolled his shoulders and removed the tape from his hand; he might have been rusty, but he wasn't going to jump into this and risk breaking his hands or something stupid. He had wrapped his hands up a thousand times before, and even if he hadn't done this in years, muscle memory took over in an instant.

She nods in agreement about life, and knowing how well it could throw everything for a loop. Watching Jett wrap his hand back it tape, she couldn't help but chuckle "Your still the same." she teases him before she shakes her head "I'm actually just getting back into it as well. I've been out of commission for a few months due to being attack." she turns her head alittle to lift her hair and show she had a couple scars now "I wasn't really allowed to do anything that could potentially cause harm." she sighs before shakes her head "So kick boxing was out of the question until i was cleared to do so."
Which happen a couple weeks ago for her, since her last scan didn't seem to show any further damage. She was just on meds for a little longer, but it wasn't like she couldn't handle that.
"Glad your back though, no lie. It was no fun once you left." most of the men didn't take her all that serious. And those who did were to scared to actually fight her because of her father being the Chief of Police.

Jett laughed at her last comment, but couldn't help but lean forward to examine her scars. "That looks rough. What happened?" he prompted; if it was asking for too much information, he expected to be told as much, but he wasn't going to pretend like he wasn't interested. A lot of weird things happened in Destiny City, and this wasn't just him being nosy; he'd known Cora for a while, weren't they friends enough for him to ask?
...Or maybe he was just nosy.
But he had gotten into the habit of worrying--a dreadful thing--and if she was going to be back fighting, sparring, he wanted to know what happened. What sort of things she had to watch out for, what things to be careful of. She had been a good sparring partner in the past, and even if he wasn't around as much as he used to be, he wanted to know that she was all right and health enough to spar.
...He had a habit of pushing himself too far; he knew his boundaries but didn't like to acknowledge them. He was pretty sure it was a trait most people in the ring shared.

Letting her hair drop back down to hide the scar, Cora looks at Jett as she sighs "Tell you the truth, I honestly don't know. I was found in an alleyway, left for dead. There was another man in the alleyway, but he was actually dead. They first tried to say I was drinking, but you know I'm not a drinker nor do I do drugs." her adopted father was chief of police. She knew better, and didn't wanted to deal with her father's wraith.
"I woke up in the hospital, scared out of my mind. Thread throbbing, and no memory of anything. I ended up staying for about a weak in the hospital before I was finally released." she sighs as she runs her fingers through her hair "I was told I had to take it easy until I was given the okay to start acting normal. That happen about two weeks ago." she was glad to be training again, but now she felt everything all over again.
And that was the part that sucked.

Jett almost even seemed alarmed with her account of the story; he ought to have been used to seeing messed up things. He knew enough about youma and the Negaverse that he had been fairly desensitized, and it wasn't like the news had a shortage of horrible crime reports.
But, still. It was different when it was some nobody, just some name in the paper, and someone you'd known for years. "'Two weeks ago?" he repeated, and though doing so would let it sink in quicker.
"They don't have any leads or anything on what happened? --Are you holding up all right?"
She might have been a tough girl, but there was in-the-ring tough, and there was I-just-got-traumatized-and-almost-died-on-the-street. 'Tough' didn't have to cover both things, and even if they weren't the closest of people, he couldn't help but want to assure that she was all right.
