((Backdated before Lawr ******** everything up ofc))
Lawrence returned to the island with his new gargoyle friend in tow, and dropping off his golem, returned to his normal shape, a shape which was thankfully also familiar to the ghoul. He explained the procedure in brief summary and led the way to a holding room where she would be more comfortable than the world outside.
Entering, he had more leisurely time to speak.
"So." he said. "You are certain that you are daring enough to undergo this particular step in your life? We must check, you understand, many do not have the courage to go through with it and wish to turn back at the last moment." he smiled cordially. "You do not, however seem the cowardly type."

Sorrow had just wanted to get away and make a change but a whole procedure was more than she'd bargained for. She was trying to stay positive, but was a little nervous.
"So like," she was trying to get it straight, "you get charged up. Like, like a crystal. You're sure that's what it takes to do this and join up with you guys? Did you do it?"

Lawr smiled encouragingly as always. "Yes it is important, part of the process, what it does is allow both partners to exist in one another's world, to explore places that separately neither would ever be privy to. It is an honour for both parties involved."
"I did indeed do it too." he said, neglecting to mention that he had been kidnapped and forced into every encounter he had ever experienced on the island. "My partner is a ghost." he explained.

"I've never had a partner," Sorrow said, tucking her dusty pigeonfeather hair behind her ear.
"Does anybody like, not like, harmonize with their partner? Who gets to pick?"

"You would choose your partner, we have hundreds and hundreds of people who will perhaps never wake up again if their partner does not come for them. You will be rescuing someone from the brink." he smiled cordially.
"As for harmonizing, very few do not get along for this reason, what teething troubles there are, are often rapidly smoothed out. "

"Wow. Kinda, like, dire, huh. Sounds like...real weird charity work..."
She internalized everything.
"So. It's like. It's like a really intense, sort of like, bonding co-op sweat lodge weekend. And, after that, I pick a partner and I'm one of you guys, and we'll like, work together again. Like we did at the laughing stones place."

"Yes, just like that. Simply as many adventures as you could want, with the help of a partner who will never go away." He beamed reassuringly. "I enjoyed our encounter there too. What say you?"

She took a deep and cleansing breath.
"Okay. Yeah, mon. Do I need to like, take something, or uh, be on a diet, or...I dunno, wear a robe...?"
Sorrow tugged on her hoodie.

"Thankfully we have it down to quite the art these days, you need to do nothing more than what you are asked by my compatriots here in my particular division of the organisation. It is all very mysterious and hush-hush what is generally done, you are very privileged to see it in fact."
"But I can answer any further questions you might have before I leave. I won't be gone long, I am sure I will run into you afterwards too."

She'd read about secret initiation stuff and that seemed pretty in tune with all that. It was to contain the energy, and all. Should she be getting back into the energy stuff? There were facts, and then there were facts...
She nodded, though, smiling with one side of her rocky mouth at Jan.
"Okay, then. See you after, mon."

Lawr gave the gargoyle a courteous bow. "That I shall." he said, and departed. As he went he found himself curious if he should ever see the ghoul again, or if some weapons simply were stowed away and never used, much like those individuals in the pods who were "flushed" as hopeless after percolating in silent hopelessness for years and years. It was a grim situation, and something about the inherent ruthlessness and wastefulness tickled him. None present on the island seemed to object too much to what was ultimately a murder machine beneath their feet, disposing of resources first lured in by hopes and dreams.
He stopped by to pick up one of the more qualified hunters to do the conversion, stopping by the office just in time to spot a hulking great brute all white and red hair. He recognised him immediately from twitter and internally braced himself for the irritation of the encounter.
"Erm, Rep, was it?" he said, and looked away, knowing that meeting the eyes of such ridiculous creatures was simply a means to provoke them.
Rep paused and eyed the blonde midget. He didn't recognise him, but he did raise a brow. He was pretty ******** sure he had a handle on all the blondes on the island, this guy was new. Maybe not at young as he liked them, but with youthful features. He smirked, not immediately leaping into his usual snarky front. "Aye." he drawled. "Kin ah ********' help ye?"
Oh good god it was like talking to Butch Lawr found himself thinking, and trying to remain amenable as he smiled. "Well, there is a halloween student in the holding room just down the hallway, I was notified to retrieve a more highly ranked hunter to bring them to the weaponisation machine." He kept his disdain in check as the taller man seemed to puff up like a proud rooster at the idea of his rank being superior in any way. It was stupidity, complete and utter stupidity, there was frankly nothing more lowly than the sort of creature this Rep character was.
Rep didn't mind the cold blue eyes on him, assuming the other man was simply looking over his muscles and hair, probably intimidated, it had to be real ******** scary being a ******** albino dwarf. "Oh aye man, nae bother. Thanks for like, giving me a heads up. I'll do that for ye. You can run off and file whatever you need to file." his eyes lingered on Lawrence's left wrist. "Always glad to lend a ******** haun."
Lawr blinked but his expression did not change even a fraction. "Quite." he said, and turning on his heel headed out of the headquarters before he said something to the nitwit which might cause some manner of trouble.
Rep made his way to Sorrow's room and knocked on the door. "Knock ******** knock, I hear someone in here is taking the one easy step to badassery."

Sorrow didn't have to wait too long. She looked at the ceiling, hoping it was all going to be worth it. But one thing she knew was that she sure as hell didn't want to go back.
The place was...off, a little. There was less here. Like, the energy of the place was something wholly other. It was almost like the air was too thin. The objects, too, were like...dead, almost. The tables weren't made from splintered, haunted woods, the chairs didn't try to bite you or run out from under you. The sun was...bright. Sterile. Brighter than anything she'd ever seen. Instead of bathing the world in an eerie orange glow, there was just harsh, bleaching light and gritty, silent sands. Sand, like rocks, were something she could feel. Her toes and legs had responded on the walk.
But this was like nowhere she'd ever been.
"Oh! Um, yeah, mon, you're here to do like the- initialization ritual, or whatever?"
She had a feeling that, too, was going to be like something she'd never been through.

"Aye." Rep said dismissively, in truth he had no ******** idea how the weaponization was actually done, but if there was one thing the redhead excelled at, it was bullshitting. He had read glancingly about the theory involved, about cores, refinement and the tech involved, but he figured there were a lot of very key threads of information left out of common knowledge for a reason. H wouldn't be too happy if cunts started making their own weapons, or ********, if they already had, given the ruckus about H. The island had never been all that ******** great at its maintaining security, the only thing that kept people loyal was the horsemen and the threat they represented.
It was kind of ironic really, that by hounding escaped hunters they basically maintained their own enemies and propped them up. "It's nae bother really. We've got it down to a ******** fine art. Like, you just stand in the big machine and it like, purifies your energy and s**t, it's really fancy. I'm totally ******** jealous of you in fact, we can't go in this one." He grinned. "One of my best mates went in one even, it made him super ******** cool."
Tracey said acerbically. Rep didn't reply, instead innocently went on. "I bet you'll be even more ******** super cool. Come on." he said, beckoning her over and heading along the corridor to the room where the machines were housed. He had at least seen how the glass cylinders were opened. "This." he said "Is the machine I like talked about, pretty simple right?"

"Not much about it that's...in its original state," Sorrow complained skeptically. She'd expected more fire, skin, stone, earth, water. Instead the metals had been melted and shaped into a polished steel, with electricity running to it like a strange mimickry of veins.
Not that Sorrow was made of meat. A lot of creatures weren't. But maybe in this mostly-dead place, that made sense.
She put a claw along the machine siding as she climbed up into the chamber, and the fingers and palm became the same sort of silvery, organized metal.
It didn't occur to her that it was going to hurt, but it did occur to her to be centralized. Meditated, that kind of thing. Regular breaths. Focus, control.
"Got to do it alone, huh? Like, introspecting. With all the bonding type activities later on."

A small girl entered the room, clipboard in hand. She looked eight, maybe ten at most. With a frown she ignored Rep and glanced Sorrow over before reading off a list.
"What is your name?"
"Are you here of your own choice?"
"How do you feel about change?"
"How important is purpose?"
"How well do you work with others?"
"What are your feelings on vengeance?"
