The name of a certain Senior Sun Hunter first came up in her spar with Horace. After hearing the name once, as with a lot of things, she started to hear it around more often. With promotion on the horizon, and despite all the training, she still felt like she had a lot more work to do. Claude decided to seek this Jordan out. This was where being on Twitter would have been helpful, but no. She was adamant about staying off of it, believing it to be more harm than actually useful.

Hm.

Claude stood on the training field grounds, one of her arms crossed while the other was used to lightly rest her chin on her knuckles. Gray eyes scanned the field as she went over the tid bits of information she heard here and there. Sun. Full Hunter...had a heavy class weapon that was a hammer...but that was only useful if the weapon was actually summoned. She sighed softly. Oh well. She'd just start asking. She'd get answers quicker that way.

"Hey." She called out to the nearest passing person. "Do you know of a Sun Hunter named Jordan?"

"You're in luck," someone said from behind her. "I know where he is." When Claude turned around, she'd find a Sun Hunter with strawberry blonde hair grinning at her. "Right here, actually," Jordan said. "Someone looking for me?"

Claude turned on her heel, taking in the appearance of the hunter who called out to her, and who just so happened to be Jordan.

Very lucky indeed.

Also good things to those who seek it. "Yeah. I am." She gave a small nod to him in greeting. "Claude." Trainee, and Sun division went unsaid, because it was obvious by her coat. "I've heard you mentor new trainees. Is this correct?"

Jordan nodded back courteously. "Nice to meet you," he answered, offering his hand for a handshake. The question got a warm and slightly surprised-looking smile. It was no secret that he liked to assess and help out new trainees, but this was the first time someone had been directed to him rather than answering to a spar offer -- as far as he knew, anyway. He didn't quite know why that pleased him so much. "Always happy to help," he said. "Up for a quick spar?"

Ferros chuckled rustily. Someone was going to notice, sooner or later.

Going off first impressions, Jordan was very agreeable thus far. It was a refreshing change from the others she'd been running into. Claude took his hand, giving it a firm but quick shake before she let it go.

"Yes." She agreed with a nod, stepping back a ways as she summoned her pistol. "I appreciate it."

"Long-range," Jordan observed, and then, as he recalled a comment Ace had made when they sparred, "Oh, are you the Captain, then?" It made sense now; her weapon was decidedly pirate-looking, and the wrap she wore over her hair helped to emphasize the image.

He dropped into a defensive stance, holding his hand out to the side to summon. Ferros materialized in a silvery swirl of motes; he brought the massive hammer up in front of him, blocking any easy aim at his torso. "This is Ferros," he said, grinning. "Go ahead and take a shot at us."

The trainee paused, indicating she was a bit surprised by the question. "I suppose." It depended on who mentioned it, and there were a few people who could have. It was also something of a surprise that that nickname had gotten back to her from someone she'd just met.

When Jordan summoned his weapon though, Claude took a moment to look it over. Damn. Even with a shield, she didn't fancy being on the receiving end of that. Ferros, huh? Claude nodded a bit, taking him and firing a shot at his well protected torso, pleased that it hit at least.

"I sparred Ace not too long ago," Jordan clarified, seeing the look of surprise. "He said you woke him up, mentioned your weapon." He nodded toward the distinctive pistol. "I don't think I've seen anything quite like - him? - around."

The shot pinged off Ferros's barrel, the Fear energy taking a small chip out of their shield. Jordan brought Ferros down out of the guard stance, swinging the huge hammer back and to the side. "You'll want to stay back as much as you can," he said as Ferros's arc paused at its far end, and as the hammer's bulk began to swing back, he lunged, coming up out of his half-crouch and using the momentum to cross the distance between them and bring Ferros around in a path interrupted by Claude's side. "If you can stay out of my reach, you've got the advantage."

"Ah." Well, that was one small mystery to rest. He was talking about her, huh? Claude quirked a brow once more towards the end of Jordan's questioning statement, and let out a soft chuckle. "Are you referring to my weapon, or to Ace?" Because in this case, both instances were applicable.

The trainee tensed as Jordan shifted from defense to offense, and she did have every intention of moving. Once again though, she was caught off guard by the speed at with Jordan could move with his over sized weapon. That no doubt came from experience and hard work, but to see it in action was still something she wasn't used to. She was swept to the side from the impact, once again very thankful for the shield that protected her from an attack that would have, no doubt, busted quite a few ribs otherwise.

Claude gave a short nod once she was steady on her feet, and took off to put some distance between them, aiming to stay out of the swinging range of that hammer. She twisted her torso to fire back at him as well.

"Well, I meant your weapon, but," Jordan grinned, "Ace is pretty unique too."

Claude took his advice seriously, sprinting quickly out of his reach once she'd recovered from their strike. As she twisted to fire back at him, he brought his other arm up reflexively to protect his face, slowing in his pursuit; the shot took him square in the chest, making him exhale hard and suck in a pained breath. "Nice," he said once he'd gotten his breath back, and circled sideways, gauging her path and moving to intercept with a long and stretched out swing, Ferros's bladed finial catching almost casually at the edge of the arc.
